    Am learning a lot

The classes that I'm in are not as hard as I thought they were going to be. The classes aren't just all lecture, they use power points and talk about the topics.

    Am enjoying being here

I love that everything is so close. You get more one on one time with the professors and get to know a lot of new people. I have a lot of the same people in my classes which is really nice. There is always something going on around campus and many clubs to join. Also, for being a student at Edgewood, you can get free boat rentals.

    Bang for the buck

I thought that coming to a private college would cost a lot of money but there are so many scholarships to help you pay for your tuition. You just have to apply for them. I got a scholarship for living in Illinois and another one for getting good grades in high school. I found that Edgewood College helped me out more with my tuition than a larger public college that I was looking at.

    Tips for prospective students

Some advice that I have is to come and visit the campus before you make any decisions and see if you like it because if you decide to attend, you are going to be living here.

Great for these types of students

This college is good for students who learn better in a smaller environment and class sizes.

    Am learning a lot

Most of the classes you take as a freshman are all the basics. I thought I would be super bored, but I am actually learning things in classes like Forum and Logic that I never thought I would!

    Am enjoying being here

I really enjoy being close to my classes (no half hour walks to class for me!) and everywhere else I need to go. The food is not typical college food, it's delicious! And if you're hungry late at night, Wingra is open until 10pm!

    Bang for the buck

Edgewood seems like an impossible school at first, but then you apply and realize that they give out a massive amount of scholarships! Make sure you apply for financial aid, because you will definitely get some assistance at Edgewood!

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you visit the campus first. Although I am in love with it, it is more of a campus that you either love of hate. It's pretty close-knit, you will get to know everyone. I would also suggest Regina hall to all you girls, it is really nice to have your own room!

Great for these types of students

All types! Edgewood is very good at diversifying students. You get to meet an array of people with different backgrounds and learn about other cultures! The staff and students are friendly and amazingly helpful. I LOVE it here!

edgewood appears to be a christian college, but is not in the traditional sense. it does promote christianity, but by and large edgewood promotes many forms of religion. it is a small college but the quality of the education is reflected in the experience of the teaching staff.

    Tips for prospective students

the staff and faculty have no problem making special arrangements for any student, so do not be afraid to ask. terrific financial aid department and professors whom also serve as department advisers.

    Academic Rigor

classes are designed to be interactive where discussion and class participation are a big part classroom life at edgewood.

    Dorm Life

i did not stay in the dorms, but if they are anything like the rest of edgewood, then they will be very nice dorms.

    Food and Dining

there are 2 main cafeteria areas on the campus, there are also many restaurants and a grocery a few blocks walking distance from the campus.

    What to do for fun

edgewood cab is the student social group that has events planned for nearly every week throughout a semster.

    Bang for the buck

edgewood is a smaller and private institution so naturally tuition is more expensive than a public university. but because of this students receive more attention from professors, and also it has been my experience that teachers will assign books that are in general very cheap but loaded with information.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

none which i can think of, but this does not mean there are not any.

Great for these types of students

nursing, business, and history students have particularly great programs.

    Clubs and Activities

i am hispanic and am a member of the association for latino students (alas) and there are a number of other clubs and activities for students of any ethnic or social background.

    Greek Life

pretty sure greek life does not exist at edgewood.

    Campus Safety

the campus safety office is extremely proactive about alerting students to potential safety issues and what they plan to do about it via email.

Edgewood College is perfect for students that want to enjoy a big city life while attending a small school. The school is expensive but they do a good job at providing sufficient financial aid to make it possible for students to attend that otherwise wouldn't be able to, like myself. Overall, the education is great and the people are warm and welcoming.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Live in the dorms to enhance your college experience.
    2. Be open to making new friends that you otherwise wouldn't have befriended in high school.
    3. You pay for your education so make the most out of it.
    4. College is a fresh start, forget your stereotypes and prejudices, become the best person you possibly can.

    Academic Rigor

Edgewood College provides a vast amount of classes at different levels that challenges students as they strive to find their interests and major. Professors works with the students to help them achieve rather than against them, making them struggle to get by.

    Dorm Life

I lived in a single, all girls, dorm. At first, I thought I was going to hate it but it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. The doubles and triples and co-ed dorms at Edgewood College also produced great experiences among my peers. I have experienced and heard nothing but good things about the sanitation and layout of the dorms.

    Food and Dining

Food and dining are very good here. There are two eating facilities, Wingra and Phil's, that provide food that is prepped personally for you, the way you like it. There is a variety of food selections, healthy and greasy, for everyone's liking. The drink selection is also phenomenal!

    What to do for fun

There is a boardwalk behind the school that boarders Lake Wingra. Edgewood provides free kayaks and canoes for students to enjoy fun summer activities. Also, Edgewood is five minutes from downtown Madison where you can enjoy lots of shopping, dining and site seeing.

Edgewood is a great school if you want to live in a larger city, but yet attend a small school. The class sizes are smaller, but the professors take the time to make sure every student succeeds. The campus is beautiful and the atmosphere is great for college students.

    Tips for prospective students

Prepare to study. Try to get in habit of studying and reading in high school it will be very beneficial.

    Academic Rigor

The classes can be difficult depending on your professor and how well you try.

    Dorm Life

Definitely try to get into Dominican or Stevie as a freshman! Regina is nice if you want a quite room to yourself, but not a lot of action goes on.

    Food and Dining

The food is average like any other school food. There is two places to eat. One is a cafe style and the other has a grille station and ala carte.

    What to do for fun

Madison is a great town there is plenty to do. There is a free zoo in walking distance and tons of nature trails around the campus. There also is great nightlife in Madison.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is steep, but they offer tons of scholarships and financial aid.

    Clubs and Activities

There is a variety of club and activities to join in on. You will not be bored and there is club for everyone.

    Campus Safety

    Awesome!

    Am learning a lot

The teaching staff here is really great and the professors are personable and want to make sure you understand what is happening in the classes.

    Am enjoying being here

I feel really comfortable being at Edgewood. It is a small campus but with plenty of opportunities to get involved with organizations and clubs. Living in Madison, you have a lot of options for doing things off campus as well.

    Bang for the buck

Edgewood is kind of expensive but you have a lot of opportunities for scholarships.

    Am learning a lot

The class sizes here are great. The teachers actually care about you and your education! The one on one attention is something you wont find in a larger school. For a small campus, they have plenty of class choices and limitless majors and minors.

    Am enjoying being here

Being in the small community inside a big city is great. I know that the capitol/State Street is only a bus ride away if I want to enjoy the city life. If not, I can stay on campus in my dorm. They always have lots of activities going on here too. It's never boring and the people are great. You're guaranteed to have a fun time!

    Bang for the buck

It's expensive, there's no doubt about that. But they practically throw money at you, so you'll be able to afford going here. You get a lot with your tuition, and you're paying just a little bit more than you would to go to UW Madison, where you don't get some of the benefits you do here. Talk to your financial advisor about student employment opportunities on campus, scholarships and grants you can apply for and any other aid you can get.

    Tips for prospective students

Take a tour, sit in on a class and really get a feel for Edgewood. It's not for everyone, since it really is a small community. Make sure your tour guide takes you into Marshall Residence Hall - it's the best kept secret on Campus!

Great for these types of students

Everyone. It's especially wonderful for those who need smaller class sizes to work better. The staff are very accommodating and understanding. I promise you will get an education here.
