    Am learning a lot

    ECC has such a great variety of classes, there's pretty much something for everyone. In my experience, the teachers are easily contacted, and very knowledgeable about their subjects.
    Am enjoying being here

    I love being able to hang out in a lounge between classes, knowing I will probably see someone I know there. The classrooms and offices are easy to find too.
    Bang for the buck

    I will have completed all my general education by May 2011, and I've saved thousands of dollars by attending ECC. The quality of the classes are great as well, I feel I have gotten my money's worth.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are planning to transfer after attending ECC, make sure that your credits will transfer where you want them to. Apply for scholarships! It can't hurt, and any little bit helps. Don't overload yourself the first semester, college courses can take a bit of getting used to, even if you did well in high school. And most of all, make sure the school is a good fit for you and will provide you with what you need from it.

    First-time college students looking to complete their gen eds, people looking to return to college, the night classes are great for people who work during the day and need to take a class for their job. There are so many options that nearly anyone could find what they're looking for.

    Elgin Community College has a great student to teacher ratio and the quality of the education is high. Many of the professors are trained professionals in their areas of study.
    Am enjoying being here

    The college has more than 40 active clubs and organizations on the campus. With all the constant activities going on, there is never a boring day and you will never want to leave!

    ECC offers quality education for a very reasonable price. I was a full time student and was able to pay for all my classes as well as books with under $4000.

    I would advise you to attend a community college first, even though you may want to move on to a four-year institution. It will prepare you for a smoother transition and you will save so much money on your general education classes.

    Elgin Community College is great for students who have not yet decided what they want to major in. The college offers a wide array of classes to explore and many outside-of-the-classroom opportunities. You will always save a lot of money!

    this establishment just remodeled it's library. it provides many shows, musicals, and concerts to their students as well as the public.

    I like how this college has smaller classroom sizes, therefore you get to have more one-on-one time with instructors, as well as classmates. I like how this college has internet classes, in case you cannot make it to the school. Unfortunately, this school should offer more classes so different majors.

    Make sure you get your financial aid papers together because it's rather rough trying to figure out everything you need. Don't take too long on it neither, they might drop your classes for it not being in on time. Have fun going to this school though!

    They do not have any dorms because it's a community college.

    From what I've heard, they have a cafeteria and also the Spartan restaurant; which is cooked by the culinary students. I've heard their restaurant is pretty good.

    There is campus security which are very thorough in investigations of things that have happened in the past. They also have an emergency text system, which they'll text you and let you know if there's ever a situation, and to be careful.

    Elgin Community College has a awesome nursing program. All the teachers are amazing and explain so much to all students. I would recommend ECC even to students out of district.

    You need to study. Focus very hard and take College 101 for great tips on classes and studying.

    ECC is tough but it is also a Community College so it is somewhat lenient.

    Cafeteria food is amazing. Great sandwiches that you can personalize and it is reasonably priced.

    There are so many different clubs to join. Even if you cannot find a club for you, you can start a new one!

    Elgin has been a great college to start out at. Everyone is friendly and the cost is low for a good education. The parking is great and the buildings are easy to navigate around.

    I started out with one class and would recommend that to anyone who was unsure if college was for them or not. Also be sure to establish a relationship with the teachers, they are great forms of knowledge about anything you want to know.

    The academics from the classes Ive taken seem to be fairly easy and as long as your trying and ask for help you will receive it from someone in the school.

    Their is a great selection for food from pasta, pizza, to doughnuts and cupcakes. Everything is fresh but does seem to be slightly overpriced due to convenience.
    What to do for fun

    There are tons of clubs and lots of areas to just sit and hang out with you peers.

    For the price this school is highly recommended. You save a lot of money if your going for general education classes before a 4 year college and the classes transfer over very easily.

    The new library in the student resource center that is huge and very updated with a cafe inside.

    There is always an officer in the parking lot and are always two or more officers in the student resource center where most of my time was spent. I felt very safe at all times.

    You have to work hard, it's college, but you can achieve it. Almost everyone at ECC wants to be there and works hard to do well.

    You live off campus and commute to school. Community College does not offer dorms.

    Food is excellent due to it being prepared by the culinary students.

    Lots of clubs, cool activities like the valentines day auction, free pancakes for finals, ECC idol, etc.

    Great education for very low price. Tuition is about 2,000 a semester for a full time student. Awesome way to get gen-eds done.

    Students who don't know what their major is yet. Students who want to try other majors. Students who don't want to pay a lot for gen-eds.

    I believe that Elgin Community College is a great place to either start one's pursuit of a higher education, an institution that will help one decide their future career path, or a place to discover a new interest or skill. ECC has a great array of educated, knowledgeable teachers who are always there and willing to provide each individual with personal attention. The academics, extracurriculars, faculty, programs, and atmosphere of ECC provide the feel of a prestigious 4-year college, but without the cost and with a more personal relationship with each student.

    Meet with an academic counselor to generate ideas and organize your academic goals. Be involved in your classes and get to know your teachers, for they will be more than willing to assist you in any way, even after the class ends.

    The rigor of academics is not less than a 4 year college, but on par. Teachers expect you to do the work, and to go above and beyond what is called for. Like anything, you get out of it what you put in, but academics do require to be a disciplined student.

    ECC has an organic garden and the food is satisfactory. I especially love the availability of dunkin donuts in the cafeteria now.

    Plenty classes are offered for non-credit, including fitness and art classes. ECC also has a recreational center on campus for those to stay fit and active. ECC has many different organized sport teams and student run organizations for cultural and other social means. Anything that one has an interest in can be found as ECC or they can take the initiative to start a organization with that interest at its center

    Overall, whether you're a returning student, just getting started, in pursuit of a higher education, or looking to become more educated and well-rounded, ECC is a great place to do all that and discover one's self. I highly recommend it as a place to start before going off to a four year university

    The organic garden on one of the roof's of the campus' building is a peaceful place to visit, or just taking advantage of the tables and benches on the roof makes a perfect spot to study and be outside.

    For me it depended on my teachers. Some teachers really cared and I learned a lot. In other classes they did not, so I passed with an A, and very little information.

    As long as you are within district that value is very good. Indistrict students pay $99 per credit, while out of district students pay closer to $300.
