Here at Fullerton College you're able to learn a wide variety of different subjects. As for myself, who is learning his ways to have a career Computer Engineering, I've gained a great amount of knowledge in just a few semesters!

    Am enjoying being here

The students here are all friendly and are all easy to be around. The campus is easy to traverse as well, leaving you plenty of time to walk from class to class.

    Bang for the buck

Classes here are cheap and worth it. The amount of knowledge you gain is way worth the $26 per unit!

Great for all students! Fullerton College has a wide variety of subjects for all Majors.

    Am learning a lot

I absolutely love this school. I've taken Basic Drawing for Non-art Majors, Math, History of Women in the United States, Sociology 101, English 103 Logic and Critical Thinking, Music Appreciation, Nutrition, Spinning (indoor cycling), Japanese, English 100, Astronomy, and many more classes at FJC. All of them have taught me so much about education, specific fields of study, applying myself academically, discipline, academic honesty, perseverance, and life in general. I have yet to take a class that I don't like. All of the learning experiences I've had have made me a stronger, more diligent student. It has also cultivated a passion for learning that I don’t believe I could have encountered in another environment. I’m definitely learning a lot at this school.

    Am enjoying being here

Besides all of the information-rich classes I've been taking here, FJC is just a fun college to be at. The campus is beautiful, the students are friendly, and the professors are warm and welcoming. Also, against all odds, the cafeteria serves good food! I've made some really great friends here and have had so much fun over the past two years. The central location of the school also affords students the opportunity to go out and explore many different options in food, entertainment, and activities. Fullerton is about 10 minutes away from Disneyland (a place where friends from school and I have spent many hours hanging out), 20 minutes away from the beach, and walking distance to student favorites such as Starbucks, Chipotle, Subway, McDonald’s, Pick-Up-Stix, Yogurtland, Panera, Chicago Harv's, KFC, Pinkberry, Thai Basil, Wahoo’s, and many more. The environment on campus always consists of students chattering excitedly, warm Southern California weather, various school activities, and people rushing to and from classes. It is definitely a very fun place to be. I also absolutely loved being on the speech and debate team (forensics) and won several awards for the school. This goes for all clubs and activities readily available on campus. I've made some great friends through forensics and enjoyed every minute I've been at this school.

    Bang for the buck

$26 per unit...need I say more? Considering the cost of tuition at Fullerton College is so cheap, one would expect the education or overall college experience to be less than satisfactory. However, the opposite is the case. The teachers and faculty are a joy to converse with, very helpful, they actually love what they do, and they’re extremely eager to help students reach their full potential. Despite the 24,000 students on campus, each teacher still takes the time to try to get to know their students on a personal level. Even when the school experienced budget cuts, the students and tuition never seem to suffer from it. The school itself has actually been expanding with a recent addition to the science building. Parking permits cost a whopping $36 per semester, which is a bargain at any other school in the USA. Fullerton starts earlier and finishes later than most schools, giving the students ample opportunity to take classes nice and easy while still receiving a spectacular academic experience. As the oldest community college in California, FJC knows what it’s doing…and it does it well at an ridiculously inexpensive cost to students.

    Tips for prospective students

If you’re taking an early morning class (7:30 or 8:00am class), don’t buy the parking permit. There’s always adequate parking on the streets and in the neighborhoods south of Chapman (the neighborhood to the north of Berkley and Chapman has signs posted saying you can’t park there now). Walking is good exercise and can help wake you up before your class starts. Sit up front so you don’t get distracted and can easily pay attention to what your professor is saying. You’ll be glad you did when finals roll around. Join a study group…these may be the very people to save your life on an important test, midterms, finals, or group projects. If you’re petitioning a class and there’s no room and a waiting list, sit in the front, talk to the teacher before and after class, stay all the way through the class (even when the professor says you can leave after signing your name on the wait list), and keep coming until a spot opens up. Students tend to drop classes like hot potatoes in the third week or so of the semester. Just bide your time and be patient. Do the homework. Don’t cheat. Have fun.

Great for these types of students

Fullerton College is great for all types of students. From 16-year-old high school students taking classes to rapidly advance their education, to senior citizens going back to school to finish their education, it is a very diverse school and offers many types of programs. The flexibility of choosing your own schedule allows students to either go to the really early morning classes, or stay up late with the night owls. If you learn at a slow pace, FJC is a cheap and easy way to take your time through school at your own pace. You can take a one-unit class, or 19 units per semester (not suggested…I didn’t get much sleep the one time I did this). If you work full time, you can easily pick and choose times that work with your schedule. Overall, I’d say Fullerton really caters to the all types of students and gives an incredible educational experience. It has many clubs including speech and debate (forensics), science clubs, math clubs, writing clubs, clubs for religious and/or ethnic groups, art club (really cool group of people!), theater/drama club, music clubs, ASB, sports clubs, and much more. Any kind of student can easily fit in at this school, or take classes to fit into their busy schedule. It’s really a great school for anyone, no matter their age, gender, ethnicity, or level of education.

If you have no idea where you want to transfer, what you want to major in, or what you want to do with your life, this is the college for you! Their counselors are awesome and super helpful. They want you to succeed and move on with your college career.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is nice and the teachers are cool. They really want you to understand the material.

    Bang for the buck

I have used so many of their resources, primarily for discovering what careers I should look into. The tutors are great and the staff is friendly.

    Tips for prospective students

Join the TAP program. Transfer Achievement Program. You get extra counseling whenever you need it, and you get to be apart of a great program on campus.

Great for these types of students

For the kids who don't have a clue what to do after college. If you don't know what you're good at, you can take as many personality and skills tests as you want.

    Am learning a lot

I've been here since Summer 2009, and all I can say about this college is that I love it. I've taken art/dance history classes, business classes, music, oceanography classes and so much more! This college offers so many wonderful classes but most importantly I am learning so much while I have fun!

    Am enjoying being here

I love the professors here. Many of them have come from interesting and prestigious backgrounds and many of my professors, past and current, have Doctorates. It is very easy to make friends in class and people are very relaxed and helpful.

    Bang for the buck

The two other reviews written here already before me tell you that it is as low as $25 per unit. I didn't even know this. Why, you ask? Because I don't pay for school/tuition! I qualified for a fee waiver so I am going to college for free. Pretty amazing huh? On top of that I had a high GPA in high school so I qualified for a Cal Grant, so I'm getting paid close to $3,000 TO GO TO SCHOOL. That's right. I get PAID to go to school. I also won a $1,000 scholarship for school that I didn't even end up using because I didn't need it so that money went straight to buying textbooks and other materials, i.e. art supplies, dance shoes, etc. (SIDE NOTE: Textbooks are VERY expensive. This semester I spent close to $400 on textbooks ALONE.)

    Tips for prospective students

Study hard. This college has so many opportunities for you to shine and to transfer to amazing schools, EVEN ON THE EAST COAST. Get good grades and join the Honors Program. You won't regret it. Get involved on campus and join one of the hundred clubs offered here. Don't forget to do community service and apply for alot of scholarships - there are many offered for community college students.

Great for these types of students

I used to think that community college is for rejects and people that didn't take school seriously, but I was blown away by the vast number of motivated and diligent students that I met. And while I won't deny I have bumped into the occasional partiers, I am still surrounded by hard-working and intelligent students that work just as hard as I do. If you want to get a higher education and you can't afford it, this is the school for you.

You need to commit yourself to your education as much as your professors commit themselves to teaching you. There are tons of opportunities for help that its impossible NOT to learn!

    Am enjoying being here

Starting out at a community college was the best decision I ever made. Everyone has dreams and goals that it helps you push yourself even harder to succeed. Even how beautiful the buildings look make you feel like a hard working adult! Its great!

    Bang for the buck

The prices is one of the main reasons why I decided to attend Fullerton College. Its a cheaper price for the same gosh darn degree! Most people qualify for financial aid anyway so its double the help... I don't know why you would want to start out spending a hundred dollars per unit... that's crazy talk!

    Tips for prospective students

If you're not sure what you want to major in, community college is the place to start. If you have interests than go after them, take fun classes and you might be surprised how well the field pays if you choose to make it a career. Make college your own, and don't let anyone dampen your memories.

Great for these types of students

If you're struggling financially then this is the place to go. Don't be ashamed because its, according to some people, not a real college, a community college is the same as any other education. Also if you're not sure what you want to do with your life and want to take things slow, there's no pressure here. Only people backing up your every decision.

I rate Fullerton College a 10 because I feel it provides so many wonderful opportunities for its students. It has a perfect location, beautiful environment/ architecture, amazing array of class offerings, extremely helpful professors/ staff, and makes sure to provide academic and career-oriented advantages for all its students. It is a 2-year college that can help unlock the doors of a bright future for all FC students.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Enroll in classes you know you will enjoy: Make sure to read full course description to ensure your happiness in the class and personal interest within the class subject.

-2. Become involved. Join Honors, STEM, Puente, TAP, clubs, sports, theatre, etc. - whichever suits your goals in life. Not only does it look great on resumes, transcripts, scholarship and UC applications- but it can help you reach your full potential!

    3. Ask for help when needed. There is no such thing as a stupid question (Unknown source). If you want to know more about features at FC, such as tutoring opportunities, how to become involved in AGS, or even where a building is located- make sure to ask others if you have trouble finding out yourself. You'll be surprised at how much more information you'll find out other than the original the question you had asked, such as information about studying abroad or job internships in your field of study. You will never know how much information a person will relay until you ask for help. There are plenty of people in this world you are willing to assist others; please keep this in mind.

    4. Do not damage Fullerton College property. Littered trash, stealing FC property, graffiti, etc.- does not belong at such an amazing campus as FC. School is a place to learn and become involved- please be respectful of the hard work people put into this school. Everything from the architecture to the landscaping took an immense amount of time energy to create.

    5. Visit a counselor. Request to see one that specializes in your major and/ or program affiliation (TAP, etc). If you cannot find the answers you were looking for, visit the building related to the field of study and ask whomever is available (Ex: Question about UCs that the counselor couldn't answer? Visit Transfer Cadena Center).

    6. Check Fullerton College's Pages Daily. Check the FC website, their Facebook page, and any other FC-associated links that pertain to your academic goals. Their pages are consistently updated and can provide you with deadlines, news, etc. that can further enrich your days at Fullerton College.

    7. Email, Email, Email. When in doubt about who to contact at Fullerton College, email it out. Email professors about waiting lists to petition, email program leaders to arrange a meeting to enlist in an academic program at FC, email to check the possibilities of a job on campus etc.- utilize your Email access in a professional manner whenever necessary. Practice proper online etiquette rules (How to address yourself, etc.) to remain courteous and professional at all times.

    Academic Rigor

I give Fullerton College a 10 on academic rigor. Each professor has their own grading criteria, etc.- but each one strives to motivate their students to achieve success. FC's Faculty members are extremely helpful in every way possible. Classes aren't too big- not anywhere near 100 + students at least- so students are able to connect with their peers and engage in the course more effectively. Most courses are CSU/ UC certified (transfer eligibility), and/ or provide vocational certification, relate to AA/AS degree requirements, or fufill prerequisite requirements for intended major.

    Dorm Life

Fullerton College does not provide housing.

    Food and Dining

FC provides great food at affordable prices ($1-$10 on average, depending on the size of meal- snack, lunch, etc.). The dining hall is spacious and inviting, while the Stinger's Cafe is much smaller and cozy. There are both indoor and outdoor seating areas, perfect for whichever dining experience you wish to choose.

    What to do for fun

What is there not to do for fun at Fullerton College? This is a fun-filled campus- with new events occurring in the Quad every day! There's Nite Life for those with evening classes to enjoy music and engage in conversation, there's annual events such as Worldfest, contests, musical/ theatrical performances, sport games to watch, etc.- every day brings a new reason to enjoy being on campus!

    Bang for the buck

This campus is a bang for your buck! There are so many positive advantages at Fullerton College, including financial assistance, that outweigh any negative aspects and thus makes enrollment at FC worthwhile.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There's an annual Halloween costume contest in October, which brings out all the creative and brave individuals front and center! The chalk drawing contests on the sidewalks of the Quad allows you to view intricate works of art at ease for no cost!

Great for these types of students

FC is great for all types of students. You don't have to be a somebody to partake in receiving an education at Fullerton College. All a person needs is a desire to learn and a willingness to grow intellectually.

    Clubs and Activities

-Alpha Gamma Sigma, official Honors society
    -Phi Theta Kappa
-Science, Technology, and Engineer Majors Program
    -Honors Program
    -TAP Program
    -Puente Program
    -FC Hornet Staff
    - Associated Students of FC
    -ICC

    Greek Life

    -Alpha Gamma Sigma
    -Phi Theta Kappa
    -Lambda Society

    Campus Safety

The Campus Safety at FC is superb! They constantly monitor the campus to maintain everyone's safety and never have to be told twice to assist a person.

the classes are good and professors are helpful if you show them you are putting in the effort to do well. the buildings are nice due to recent construction and classes are nice. my sciences (anatomy, physio, micro) all small class sizes (27 students for lab) which is nice other classes such as ge classes are much larger.

    Tips for prospective students

when going through the counseling office, be careful because sometimes they may have you take classes that you really don't need which happened to me. if you are ever confused or not sure of something in a class, go to the professor's office hours and talk with them because most professors enjoy when they see students putting in the effort to do well and know their professors. when ordering transcripts, do it online and then call in the next few days to follow up with the transaction to make sure that they had been sent out. it is much cheaper to finish as many pre-req's and ge classes here before moving on, i strongly suggest it and my professors were awesome and helpful that i had!

    Academic Rigor

ge classes are sometimes fun, and everyone has to take them so some professors try to keep the class interesting and fun. if a science or math major, you will want to spend a lot of time in your professor's office because the classes will get tough once you get into higher levels (bio 272, math 150a, anat 231, etc). but they will be willing to help you.

    Dorm Life

there is no dorm life on campus because it is a 2 year college and most students live at home or locally.

    Food and Dining

the food in the cafeteria is good but can get pricey because you have to use cash to pay. i like the salad bar, the sandwiches and a small cup of coffee before a long lecture.

    What to do for fun

there is not that much to do for fun on campus but locally there is downtown fullerton which is in walking distance from the school. whether you want to study in a cafe, get a drink, something to eat, or shop you will be able to do it in downtown fullerton. expanding outside of fullerton the beach is 30 minutes away, brea mall is 10 minutes, and there is movie theaters locally.

    Bang for the buck

nowhere else will you be able to pay 500 dollars for one semester and be a full time student, parking, and some of those classes including sciences. it is difficult to get classes because of budget cuts but you have to be consistent, showing up to class and staying in contact with the professor. the classes that you are taking, make sure you can handle the load because it can be annoying when by the end of the semester over half of the classes have dropped because they could not handle the class and students that could have succeeded were not able to enroll because it was full.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

a quiet place to study is in the lower level of the science building outside of the professor's offices. this is where there are tables and chairs set up as well as cubicles with electrical outlets which you can plug your laptop into. the library can be loud at times which is why i preferred the science building.

Great for these types of students

if you are looking to save money, and take more than ge classes or even classes for fun then this is your place.

    Clubs and Activities

there are many clubs on campus and club rush is a big thing. they will have loud music playing, clubs have their booths set up in the quads and have activities going on all day long. it makes a good study break.

    Greek Life

there is no greek life unfortunately.

    Campus Safety

campus safety is found just about everywhere. the school itself is safe during the day but at night it can seem a bit sketchy because it gets pretty empty. campus safety however is very strict about parking and will ticket you for anything possible whether it is dropping someone off on the side, stopped in a handicap, or if its the first day required for parking permits they will find you and write the ticket.
