    Am learning a lot

Glendale Community College has some wonderful faculty. The teachers are hard working despite major cut backs at the college. No matter what, the teachers encourage you to push beyond what you normally do with your learning abilities to go outside of your comfort zone. I've learned how to communicate more effectively with fellow students as well as I've become more open to asking questions and requesting tutoring from my teachers. I'd definitely take advantage of their tutoring opportunities because they are very helpful.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is well kept and the plaza, Plaza Vaquero, is green with well kept grass and trees. There are plenty of tables to sit at outside, a two floor library, and two levels to the cafeteria for people to relax with friends or study quietly. I really enjoy being able to walk across campus in about 5 minutes. My only issue with the school is that smoking is permitted so I would recommend doing your best to avoid the smoking sections of the school if you are a non-smoker.

    Bang for the buck

This is a great college to attend if you are in need of help financially. The tuition for classes is about $26 dollars per unit. This has helped me save a lot of money as I pay for my general education classes in order to transfer to another school. Just make sure you fill out both the FAFSA and BOG in time so you can receive your financial aid on time rather than the end of the semester.

    Tips for prospective students

Any student that attends Glendale Community College should complete their financial aid forms as soon as possible. A lot of people wait until the last minute to complete these forms so there are always long lines during the summer and fall class sessions. I'd also recommend completing your registration as soon as possible so you will be placed under priority registration when trying to get all your classes. And if you have a car, get the parking permit. They are a little expensive, but they are worth it if you have to spend a lot of time at school.

Great for these types of students

Glendale Community College is a great school to go to if you need a school that doesn't cost too much. It is great to attend if you live in the area and are unable to drive yet as well. The counselors are pretty helpful so I'd recommend attending here if you want to go to school for a cheaper tuition while you try to transfer to another school.

GCC has a great variety of classes and great teachers. The campus is amazing and has many departments for students to get ahead in their of success since they have a career center, counseling, scholarship and internship offices as well as a office for students to volunteer in organizations. The list of clubs are incredibly diverse and very active in the campus at school. The library is amazing with lots of computers, desks, study rooms, copy machines and resources to help students do their best.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to the workshops and seminars that take place on campus to learn things you would never know from friends or employers. Get appointments with a career counselor to get guided in the right track. Join clubs to be active in life and apply for volunteer work and scholarships. And most importantly, no matter if it is payed or not, get an internship somewhere, it will do you wonders once you apply for jobs in future. I got an internship at the Social Security Administration of Glendale because of Glendale Community College's job postings in the career center building! No matter if its payed or not, take the opportunity when it knocks!

    Academic Rigor

Of coarse, this is not an easy school, you must earn your grade and put lots of effort to get an A, other wise there would be no point in school if you cannot learn. Put in the time to study, take good notes, and stay organized no matter what!

    Dorm Life

No dorms at Glendale Community College

    Food and Dining

Good cafeteria, and snack store has copious amounts of snacks and beverages to chose from, my favorite part of the school ! The staff is very nice and kind, makes me smile every time I go in.

    What to do for fun

Join clubs and get involved in activities at school.

    Bang for the buck

Glendale Community College has many internships and magazines on careers and jobs in the career counseling building available. They also offer free mental health counseling for anyone who needs help, as well as other health related help in the Health Office, and even in many different languages!

    Clubs and Activities

Glendale has great clubs for just about anyone. They have a film club, for students who want to make thier own films and even play them on Fridays on campus for viewing.

    Campus Safety

There are many elevators and ramps available for disabled people in wheelchairs.

Glendale Community College has a great art department. Tutoring services are available for math and science classes as well as English. I have had an overall good experience with social sciences teachers.

    Tips for prospective students

See a counselor ASAP to get started on the right foot. My mistake was I took classes based on course requirements without knowing when they are offered. A counselor should know best when to take which classes.

    Academic Rigor

This is dependent on the teacher you get. Some professors are harder than others, but in general you will have to work for it.

    Food and Dining

I like the breakfast foods. The upstairs dining area serves burgers, salads, and soup. The downstairs dining area serves sandwiches and pizza. There's a food court outside the campus in the front entrance, so don't worry. There's a Quizno's, Coffee Bean, Flame Broilers, and more.

    Clubs and Activities

There's a wide variety of clubs ranging from dance to environmental to the most random thing you can think of. Just find out at the Student Center!

    Campus Safety

There is a campus police office located in the center of the campus. Glendale is a nice area. Just make sure to park close to campus when using the parking pass. The parking lot in the park doesn't receive as much patrolling as the other lots.

the campus is very clean and small, there is a lot of greenery and there is even a little water fountain in the middle of the inside of the campus. the majority of the students are armenian and ages vary from high school students to late adulthood. the student body is very friendly.

    Tips for prospective students

if you're going to see a counselor about your stay at the school, then make sure that you see a transfer counselor versus whatever else they offer because the transfer counselors help a lot more and invest time in you.

    Academic Rigor

you know, it really depends on your major and what you want to become, if its nursing or any of the biology courses then get ready to apply yourself for days on end because gcc is known for some of the hardest biology courses out there. math is horrible, it's almost impossible to pass.

    Dorm Life

    there are no dorms.

    Food and Dining

if you're starving, then you'll eat what they sell, but if you want something tasty then there is always food choices across the street which are pretty good. there is a coffee bean to get your caffeine fix, flame broiler, pizza, quizno's and a mediterranean place that sells crepes, tacos and hamburgers alongside with its regular dishes.

    What to do for fun

you can always join dance classes, they teach you things from discipline to really understanding who you are and representing it with movement. every semester the dance production throws a student show for free. you can also join a team like football or basketball.

    Bang for the buck

though tuition has been going up per units, gcc still finds ways to accommodate to your situation via bog's, eops or fafsa, they also apparently have a system where you can pay monthly.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

they throw a welcome back to school barbeque every semester and the food is free! all of the clubs host events or sell some type of traditional food now and then and i must admit, its pretty bomb. it's like being in a melting pot of different traditions and having everyone embrace them all.

Great for these types of students

if you want to save some money getting your general education done, then there is a great place for you because it turns out to be a lot cheaper.

    Clubs and Activities

there are a lot of clubs on campus and everyone is really active in those clubs. the mini food fairs are my favorite.

there's something along a scholars program that requires a gpa of 3.0 but i don't know much about it.

    Campus Safety

the campus overall is very safe because nothing bad ever happens in glendale.
