Categories Rating Comments Bang for the buck The financial aid is ABSOLUTELY great there. And ever since President Obama changed the grueling process of financial aid eligibility. I basically go to school free!
Tips for prospective students Make sure you fill out your financial aid and do whatever you have to do. Because you do not have to pay to be a student here. Tuition is not even that much!
Great for these types of students I am a teen mother, this school is extremely flexible for me and my child. They even have a day care on campus. Which my child attends to free, because of financial aid!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Great school to attend. I don't use the Harrisburg Campus, but I use the York campus and it awesome. Best decision I made.
Tips for prospective students Study hard. Do all homework and assignments. Use the hacc resource to your advantage.
Academic Rigor They take academics very seriously. They wanted to see people success in their dream field.
Dorm Life No Dorms
Food and Dining Many vending Machines available on campus. Also food and drinks available in the Campus Store.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers here are amazing. I have never had a problem with a teacher never wanting to help assist me in a question I might have in their class. I am in my second semester and I am part time, I learn as much as a full time student and enjoy every bit of it. You hear a lot from the students and even the teachers on what other teachers are good to take for different subjects! Helps out in the long run!
Am enjoying being here Yes, I have a daughter and it gives me time to do something for myself. Attending the York campus is pretty awesome because you get to meet tons of people you would have never met before. Only downside, they do not have child care.
Bang for the buck Yes, you get your moneys worth, but no matter what you still have to pay back your loan money after you graduate with the degree you receive. They give you a 6 month grace period after completing you schooling. I think it is still cheaper that enrolling is a university. Eventually I am going to have to transfer to another college because one downfall is that Hacc does not have bachelors degree programs.
Tips for prospective students I would say that you have to keep you head on straight and don't get distracted with all the little stuff. Make sure you do your homework and STUDY STUDY STUDY! College is nothing like High school.
Great for these types of students I am a mother of a daughter who is barely 2 and she is always wanting to be right with me. I have my fiance watch her when I am at school, but they do give you a phone number to call and get babysitting for cheap. Just because you call the number does not mean you are going to get a discount though, all depends on how much your income is. Would be nice if they had a on- site day care, but they don't. Hacc York works with your schedule and understands that people have lives outside from school.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I am currently attending this college online and will be going to the campus in June for my next class. So far with the online classes, everybody seems friendly and eager to help you with any questions that you have. If you have a question for the teacher, she responds very quickly and gives examples if needed.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask questions whether you think that they are stupid or not, somebody else might be wanting to know the same thing.
Academic Rigor You are expected to do your best.
Dorm Life This college doesn't have any dorms.
Food and Dining They have a Subway, a food bar, and an Italian restaurant for the students to choose from on campus. They also have vending machines.
What to do for fun They are always having activities to do. They put the activities on their home page as well as e-mail them to you to join in.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I am a new student, so I haven't really got the chance to see any traditions here yet.
Great for these types of students If you have a lot of self-discipline online classes are great for you.
Clubs and Activities I know that they have a lot of clubs and activities, I haven't got the chance to sign up for any yet due to only attending online classes at the moment. I am looking forward to maybe joining some when I start attending classes on campus.
Campus Safety There are always security vehicles in the parking lot whether it is daylight or night. They are there watching out for your protection.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I love this school. The instructors are approachable, the classes are enjoyable and the students are very friendly.
Tips for prospective students Arrive to class a few minutes early or on time. It is a huge disruption to the professor and the other students when you arrive late.
Academic Rigor I find the classes challenging but there is so much help on campus that you shouldn't struggle very hard unless you don't ask for assistance.
Food and Dining Great choices and affordable
What to do for fun HACC has alot for students to get involved in. Sports, theater, clubs, you can find something to get into the school spirit here
Bang for the buck The most affordable college around

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences HACC is a great starter school, especially for anyone looking to transfer. Its cheap, comparatively, and is very flexible with class schedules. However, its office staff seems to always be misinformed and contradict one another.
Tips for prospective students You don't have to take the classes in the order that the counselors give you. Take your time. Your in community college after all. Its expected that you have to work and have family to care for. Yeah it might take a little longer, but taking your time and getting that A is better then rushing through and getting a C.
Academic Rigor This school really is all about the academics. I mean, there isn't much time for much else. Yes, they try to accommodate everyone by having clubs and some activities. To my knowledge only the main campus has sports teams. I attend at York so we do not.
Dorm Life They don't have dorms at HACC-York, nor do i think that any of the campuses do. However, there are apartments right across the street from the school and condos right next to the school as well. So if you had to move to attend, you could. I only live an hour away so i didn't find a need to.
Food and Dining Again, its a community college, therefor there is no dining hall or anything. Sometimes there is a food cart that stays out in the parking lot that you can buy lunch from. Other then that there are vending machines and also the book store sells some food. My dad works down the street at the post office so sometimes he drops off some food for me because i am at school all day.
What to do for fun Well...not much really. Its basically all focused on your studies. There are some clubs and organizations. The school has a movie night every week or month. Sometimes they organize events and trips to New York. But its not a big campus so, not really much to do.
Bang for the buck This is a GREAT starter school. I took all of my pre-requsits at HACC-York and have exhausted all the possible classes that I can take, even taking some classes towards my bachelor's. I have now just transferred for my clinicals. Comparatively, its ALOT cheaper per credit. FAFSA, assuming you apply and win it, is more than enough to cover your school expenses, including books.
Great for these types of students Working students definitely. Non-traditional students, those who have been out of the game for a few years and want to get back. Anyone with kids.
Greek Life There really is none.
Campus Safety You cant go anywhere without seeing security around. The security office is right as you walk in the main entrance.

Tips for prospective students Utilize the tutoring lab and smarthinking.com and most of all dont be afraid to ask for help. The academic faculty there is interested in helping you reach the finish line
Food and Dining No Cafeteria on the York HACC Campus
What to do for fun Several different locations so there are alternatives
Bang for the buck The cost is great compared to universities!
Great for these types of students Mature Adult Students.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This is a very friendly atmosphere. Plently of parking. Very big campus.
Tips for prospective students Since there is so many campuses make sure you research ahead of time to check where your classes are being offered. The campuses are about an hour away depending and some classes are only offered at certain campuses.
Academic Rigor Depending your instructor depends on the rigor. This school is very much persistent in not missing classes or being late. If there is a scheduling conflict and you discuss with teacher more than likely you will be allowed to miss class. You can be put on a watch list for poor grades.
Dorm Life This is a community college no dorm life. Although they have a coffee bar at the Gettysburg location and cafeteria.
Food and Dining Peaceful place to eat lunch inside or outside as well. Coffee bar located in the food area with seat and tables or lounge chairs by the fire place. Study and eat or eat and talk. Food a little more expensive in the cafeteria.
What to do for fun There is a lot of things surrounding each campus. Get involved with the school to do activities.
Bang for the buck Classes are not too expensive and you can take a semester off if you need to. You can get your associates degree there without having to transfer out.
Great for these types of students Working students, mothers fathers and so on.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of things to get involved with.
Campus Safety There are campus security everywhere. Their station is right next to the ATM machine in the front lobby. Everyone gets and ID card and a parking pass. If you are parked without a pass they will question you if you are there for a long period of time. Great neighborhood.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Affordable, especially if you are paying out of pocket.
Doable, especially if you are working full-time and looking for a new start.
HACC gives you the chance to go far.Tips for prospective students Talk to an advisor, make a plan right away. Sign up as soon as possible. Research your professors and classes. Bottom line, be prepared.
Academic Rigor HACC is challenging enough that you learn new things, but not so challenging that you struggle to succeed. It depends on the teacher and the class, but overall I was pleased with the academics.
Dorm Life No dorms here.
Food and Dining The food is just cafeteria food, nothing fancy. Most of us pack lunches. They do have a subway inside.
What to do for fun You can join a club, go to an event or play, or play sports on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences HACC is a great place to start your general studies and get a jump start on credits prior to transferring. They also offer various associates programs. The school is cost effective and enables you to work a flexible schedule so that you can school and work.
Tips for prospective students Really research ahead of time which classes you will need for your degree, and be sure that those specific classes will transfer. Check with you final destination school at the same time as you work on class registration.
Academic Rigor They classes will challenge you but they do not require unreasonable amounts of work. I took a PE, sociology, and an algebra course in one semester while working. Definitely Do-able!
Food and Dining There is not a large variety in the cafe but they do have reasonable options for reasonable prices. The schedule is also flexible so that you can stop in between classes.
What to do for fun You are in Harrisburg - the Capitol of Pennsylvania! Visit the state museum or take a run along the Susquehanna river. HMAC also offers music events for local bands.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences For my first semester I have found HACC to be a wonderful experience. The advisors are actually helpful, and do everything they can to help you succeed. Going back to college after 20 years it has been a great experience.
Tips for prospective students The orientation day was very informative, gave a good perspective of the college's goals. Don't bite off more than you can chew. If you are going full time, it is very difficult to work full time too. Choose your priorities work or school, and plan accordingly.
Academic Rigor Anatomy an Physiology is a tough course, the teacher thoroughly goes over the material that is necessary, but not unnecessary trivia. If you study hard you will do well.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I love it. Great size of campus and classrooms. Classrooms are easy to find and campus isnt large and overwhelming. Teachers are very good and give individual attention to each student.
Tips for prospective students Don't be overwhelmed. Take a deep breath and and take it one day at a time. Take a campus tour and talk to other students for advice on what teachers to choose, what classes to take when etc.
Academic Rigor I have learned a lot in the classes I took here. I think their academics are very good and they have an excellent program with excellent teachers.
Dorm Life I live off campus. Community college also does not offer dorms.
Food and Dining Subway and Ragged Edge in the hub are excellent. I wouldn't mind seeing more added but it is a small campus so I would understand if more wasn't added.
