Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Within just my first year at ISU, I gained the skills I need to succeed. My professors, teacher assistants, college advisor and employer have provided my with the knowledge required inside and out of the classroom. The teaching staff was extremely understanding and patient, in addition to always willing to help. Through all the academic assitance, I was able to earn my spot on the college's Dean List with a 3.9 GPA!
Am enjoying being here I love my time at Indiana State University! I have met several people who have developed into incredible friends. I can rely on them for not only study help, but any other issues we encounter during our first semesters at ISU. In addition to the friends I have met, there is always something to do! Whether it is working out at Le Club, studying in the library, or watching the Sycamores at a sporting event, a student can always stay busy and be actively involved with the campus around them.
Bang for the buck As a younger sister to a fellow Sycamore, it was important to me to find a great school at an affordable cost. ISU is definitely the college I needed. Whether a student is enrolled in 12 or 18 credit hours, the cost does not increase. The room board is affordable, in addition to extra costs such as the library, laboratory fees, and the new recreation center. The college is also great at rewarding strong students with scholarships such as the Lap Top Scholarship, awarded to entering Freshman with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Tips for prospective students I would advise prospective students to truly take advantage of all hte activities at Indiana State. There were always great Freshman mixers and volunteer activities which really helped me in adjusting to life on campus. I would also suggest meeting your new roommate before moving in together. This way, you have time to get to know the other person before the semester starts. I also suggest holding a job on campus. This really encouraged me to balance my time wisely, and also helped me get to know the ISU campus and staff.
Great for these types of students ISU is a great university for hardworking, dedicated students who enjoy extracurricular activities! The size of the campus is perfect for those who need a more direct relationship with their professors, but require a wide range of courses.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I started last year with the intentions of being a physical therapists and was really looking forward to the challenges. Unfortunately being away from home for the first time and the hard class schedule put me behind fairly quickly. As a freshman you are given course classes instead of gen ed classes because they only have a certain amount of space for the classes later on and this is their way of weeding out the students who have chosen the wrong career. After the first semester I can honestly say that I have learned a lot since being here you are responsible for your choices and in the real world you can't rely on your parents or anyone else to help you out.
Am enjoying being here My first semester was kind of bad but with the help of new friends I really have enjoyed being here. I helped to create something new to the campus to help keep the students out of the alcohol scene. We created the late night challenge. We took different things and pitted a representative from each floor against each other. One was a hot dog eating challenge after the famous Nathans challenge. It started out small but at the end of the year we had backing from the student organization for pizza and soft drinks for everyone attending and to purchase the supplies for the challenges. This helped to break the newness of being away from home for a lot of the freshmen attending. I am really looking forward to my next year here at Indiana State to tackle new challenges.
Bang for the buck Since the fees are the same for 12credit hours up to 18 credit hours you can set your course load to your ability not to your pocket book. The room and board fees are comparable to any in the area and you can use the credits for your meals at the student union at places like Taco Bell when you miss lunch or dinner because of your schedule.
Tips for prospective students Meet your roommate before you move in. It is easier to change before you move in than after. Make sure of your career objective if your not sure take a general education and take 1 class a semester of something that you may want to study. You may discover something your naturally good at and a new career.
Great for these types of students This is a great school for people from small towns. The city is large enough to give you a lot of options for entertainment and small enough to make you feel comfortable.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Being at Indiana State has taught me alot. Its taught me how to be around people that are like me all the time, and taught me how to use my time wisely when it comes time for preparing for tests and quizzes. Indiana State has so many activities and events for any and everyone. I've never been judgemental but being at this school really helps you want to get to know people who are like you and some who aren't like you.
Am enjoying being here My time here has been fun. There are so many activities and events to go to that once you get settled in, you will rarely if ever be home sick. The only problem that I've had while being on campus is my roommate. I would honestly either have roomed with someone I knew or had a single room. But besides the roommate situation, I love Indiana State, this was the perfect college for me
Bang for the buck Indiana State University is a good college with reasonable tuition. But I strongly suggest that ahead of time or start now, that you apply for as many scholarships as you can. My mom pays my tuition out of her own pocket but I know that it's not easy for her. Besides the tuition the meal plan with commons cash/ credits are very useful. I suggest that you get very familiar and understand the difference between commons cash and credits because if you don't understand them, you will run out of them quick, trust me I know.
Tips for prospective students In order to be successful at Indiana State you should be willing to do the work and be determined to reach your goals.
Great for these types of students I feel Indiana State is for students who are ready to make their lives better and want to be very successful. They give you alot of hands on training and opportunities to experiment with whatever your major is.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Depending on which classes you take, they can be easy or challenging. It depends a lot on how much work you put into it. For myself, I am taking 15 credit hours, which is just the right amount. I have learned a lot through my classes this semester.
Am enjoying being here I really enjoy living on campus. I live in the Honors dorm, which has 24 hour quiet hours, so it is really easy to study and sleep, which are both important. There are a lot of activities going on both on and off campus during the week and on the weekend. Classes are close, and you can reach almost all of them within 10 minutes. The food is pretty good, although there are only three places to eat on campus; two cafeterias and one food court.
Bang for the buck Tuition is more affordable here than many schools because it is a public, state school. Some things are lost, such as a small class size and very personalized attention that comes with small, private schools, but you still get a lot out of ISU. You will definitely get a great education here.
Tips for prospective students First, I would make sure that ISU has your major, and back up major. A lot of students change their minds throughout the years, so it's important that you have a fallback within the same university; that way you won't have to worry about transferring. I would also look at cost and distance. Visit before making any decisions.
Great for these types of students ISU has great programs for Nursing, Education, and Business. Those are some of the larger programs, but there are a lot of other majors besides these categories. I chose ISU for the fact that it was one of two schools that has the major I am interested in. It is also great for completing general education credits and for those students who cannot afford private universities.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Indiana State University is great! I am in the second semester of my freshman year and I cannot even express how much knowledge there is to gain here. The staff here at ISU is so unbelievably experienced with what they are teaching. Like anything good in life, as long as you as a student are willing to do the work; ISU will work for you. The teachers at ISU are not like many high school teachers are. At ISU the teachers care how you are doing, not to say that they will baby sit you. The teachers care as much as you do. If a student needs help at ISU all teachers have office hours available as well as study groups and teaching assistants that are a great source of knowledge. My biggest class thus far has been 40 students and these small class sizes make it nice because the teacher can spend more time with each student. Students also don't have to wait their turn for half an hour to ask a question which is a big plus. ISU's size and staff make it a perfect educational environment.
Am enjoying being here The freedom of college is great, but what's more important is the responsibility of college. It feels absolutely incredible to wake up everyday and know that your future is in your hands. Alot of kids come to college with the intent to just party and have a good time and that's fine and at ISU there is always a place to do those things, but students must remember to put the academics first. As long as you don't lose sight of the reason you are at college it is physically impossible to not have a good time at ISU. Between extra-curricular weekend events, the rec center, and student groups and events there is always fun to be had at ISU.
Bang for the buck In my opinion ISU provides the most Bang for the buck in the state. ISU has a laptop scholarship available to incoming freshman with a GPA of 3.0 or better which greatly helps with the cost of college. ISU was rated one of the best universities in the Midwest by The Princeton Review. Compared to the price range of many other schools ISU is cheap. The small class sizes many students love often come with a steep private school price, but not at ISU. I have been to Purdue, Ball State, IU, Trine, Anderson, IPFW, and Harrison university and ISU was the best school I visited.
Tips for prospective students I have a few things to say on this subject. Number one being that as a college student the common view of college is one like is portrayed on TV and movies. This is not college. If u expect college like is portrayed on American Pie or movies like that; one of two things will happen. You will hopefully have a rude awakening and get back on track, or you will live this way for your first semester of college after which you no longer be a college student. I'm not saying this to scare anyone; I'm saying it so what happened to two of my friends doesn't happen to you. The other point I want to make is the importance of hard work and work ethic. College takes alot of time outside the classroom to be successful. Come to school prepared and do your best. Keep in mind that college can determine the rest of your life.
Great for these types of students ISU is a great school for students willing to work. ISU has great educational programs for all majors. The quality of your college experience is all dependent upon you at ISU. If you want to have a world of capabilities in front of you and you are going to college with the mindset that this is my future then ISU is for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have just completed my first semester of college here at Indiana State and I have gained a lot of knowledge in and out of the classroom. I had two large lecture classes and one teacher learned the names of everyone in the class and was always willing to help. She even sat down with me to plan out my next semester and I plan on going back to her if I ever have any questions about more of my classes. The rest of my classes were small and the teacher was always willing to work with you to ensure you understood what you were doing and emailed you back right away if you had questions. I am very satisfied that I will receive an excellent education here.
Am enjoying being here I love being here at school so much. I worried about whether or not I would fit in or if I would find any friends here, but I immediately knew that this is where I was meant to be. I also became best friends with my roommate who I picked at random along with the two girls next door and I plan on being friends with them for the rest of my life. I am on the track team and I have clicked really well with the other people on the team, especially the other freshmen within my specific event. I can't imagine being at any other college right now and having as much fun as I am right now.
Bang for the buck Indiana State is definitely the cheapest state school and many people do not consider it a very good school, but as long as you apply yourself and try to be apart of clubs or other activities, Indiana State is just as good as any other school. There are many scholarships to apply for and financial aid is willing to work with you to help you save as much money as possible. The student to teacher ratio is also excellent to allow ample time for one on one work.
Tips for prospective students Come to college with an open mind and be prepared for anything. It is a time for you to find new friends and develop lasting relationships. Go out and meet people, and be active with other members of your college. College is a very diverse place and it is a time for you to expand your experiences, and dive into new and different opportunities.
Great for these types of students Indiana State is great for anyone. It has ample degrees and majors to choose from and even allows you to create your own major if it does not have exactly what you want. It has the most diverse campus population among all colleges in the state of Indiana to meet people for all walks of life. It is also home to about 12,000 students to be a good size campus while still being a Division I school as well.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My teachers have been wonderful examples to me-being an online student is very challenging, but with the help of my teachers and their great response time, they have made the online nursing classes a joy.
Am enjoying being here I don't live on campus being an online student, but I enjoy being a part of a larger community of students who are going through the same experiences I am.
Bang for the buck This education has been worth every penny we have spent. I feel like when I graduate, I will be fully prepared to start working in a hospital with confidence in what I am doing.
Tips for prospective students If you are going to do online classes, you will need to have the drive to do your classwork everyday and participate in the online discussions. If you are the procrastinator type, online courses are probably not for you. It takes a lot of dedication and time to do these courses on the internet.
Great for these types of students Driven, focused individuals who are computer literate and competitive in their focus towards their degree. As far as campus students, ISU offers a wonderful college experience and the learner will be immersed in an international culture with the added benefit from learning from their fellow peers as well.

Bang for the buck awesome price for a great education

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i have really enjoyed being here. indiana state is a very small campus which makes it nice for getting to class on time. the trains are disturbing but you will get use to it after the first few days. the professors are great and are willing to help you learn in the best way possible.
Tips for prospective students get involved in activities and clubs. it makes it a lot more enjoyable to be at college.
Academic Rigor the homework is very overwhelming at first but it doesn't seem like so much when you manage you time. studying seems like it is going to ruin your life but it pays off in the end.
Dorm Life dorms are very old but still in pretty decent condition. sometimes the elevators break and you have to take the stairs. but it's fun meeting new people in the dorms. i made a ton of friends just by living in the dorms and met my best friend.
Food and Dining i personally got sick of the food. it was fine for a while but it is your only choice until the weekends when you can use credits in the commons. the commons is great. georges is the best!
What to do for fun running through the fountain is a lot of fun... going out on friday nights is the best way to meet people.
Bang for the buck don't really get much... half the time you buy your books and don't even need them. it's frustrating but most places will take them back within two weeks.
Clubs and Activities getting involved will really help you open up.. get to know people while you are here. it will help you later on.
Campus Safety campus safety it's excellent. they are right on campus. i lost my wallet once and they called me and said they found it and i went and picked it up. everything was still in it too.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences it is a small-ish school that provides an intimate atmosphere, but also allows for the larger school feel.
Academic Rigor the overall curiculum doesn't appear to be too difficult overall and and can sometimes seem a bit too basic.
Dorm Life dorm life is something every college student should experience, while it has some negative aspects, i think the good outweighs the bad. alot of the dorms need a deffinate cosmetic update.
Food and Dining isu's dining halls are descent as far as food quality, but they can deffinatley leave something to be desired. the food outside of dining halls provide a good selection.
Bang for the buck price of tuition is rising every year, but overall costs seem to be resonable in comparisson to other universities.

Tips for prospective students I recommend bringing a fan to the dorm room if you are living in Cromwell or any of the older dormitories. Even during the winter you may wish to use your fan. The heaters make the dorm extremely hot.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have always thought that Biology is a good subject; however, I did not realize that I could learn so much in just a few weeks of being here. My professors are great at helping you gain understanding. I have learned a lot in the last few weeks, but you need to be prepared for many hours of reading.
Am enjoying being here This is a great college if you do not want to have a huge city to get lost in. I love the people they are so friendly and helpful. I think this is a great place to go if you are trying to start out on you own and do not want to be too far away from home.
Bang for the buck I think that this is a well worth it investment. I have received the lab top award form here and they give you all maintenance on it for three year. I have visited lots of other colleges and they have been way out of my price range. Here however I can afford the price as well as the experience is one that I could not receive anywhere else.
Tips for prospective students Apply in September it is free to apply then.
Great for these types of students I would say that if you want a small town feel and being close to home go here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot ISU has began to prepare me for the real world. My professors and advisor are of much help when it comes to my academic success. Attending ISU has definitely help me obtain even more knowledge about my major.
Am enjoying being here From the on-campus social events to staying in the dorms, ISU has so much to offer. The Ra's conduct activities every week to ensure that there is always something to do. The socials are very nice, the activities are extravagant, the classes are interesting, and I have met awesome people.
Bang for the buck As they say, You get what you pay for. The cost is acceptable for those whom can afford to put in time for scholarships and more. The environment, learning, and activities are the best.
Tips for prospective students Coming to ISU is a wake-up call. You should began focused and end focused. If you in need of help, do not hesitate to use all of the help stations located on campus. GOOD LUCK
Great for these types of students ISU is great for students who like to interact or just be alone. Students who like to interact would love being here. The facility itself is great for those whom like to site-see.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classroom size at ISU is about 20-25 students. Some of the required classes are bigger, but your major classes are small sizes. The professors here want you to succeed, not just to listen to them and pass their class.
Am enjoying being here I love ISU! I love living on campus and being with all my friends! The atmosphere is amazing! And the campus is B-E-A-U-tiful!! There's always something to do! Like going to the new Rec Center that has a pool, hot tub, gym, and much more!
Bang for the buck The tuition isn't too bad for me being out of state. They gave me a scholarship just for living in Illinois and having good grades. They lowered my tuition to what I would pay if I stayed in IL. Living on campus is kind of expensive, but it's worth it, and what college isn't expensive for living there?
Tips for prospective students Go there, take a tour, and enjoy yourself! You will always meet people who are like you, you'll always have something to do, and the campus is just great! Not to big, not to small!
Great for these types of students Students who love to interact with their professors, like to have a somewhat small campus, and has lots of school spirit!!!

Bang for the buck Any college is expensive but there are people at ISU to help you out with what needs to be done for maximum help.
Tips for prospective students Keep focused and even when life sets you back there are people on this campus that can help you out when needed.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a student at Indiana State, I would highly recommend my school to all those who enjoy learning new things and have an undying ambition to obtain success in the world today. Indiana State is equipped with great professors that put forth great effort to help our students succeed. With more than 100's of classes to choose from, there's no limit to what knowledge you can obtain. So far, I have taken classes from over 7 different fields of study and I'm just now entering into my sophomore year! I've learned more in one year of college than I have in both my Junior and Senior years in High School combined! Very impressive I must say!
Am enjoying being here Indiana State is jam-packed with activities and points of interest. We have recently been provided with a Recreation Center which is equipped with an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, an indoor track, a 6 basket Basketball Court, a weight room, and an indoor soccer/street hockey cage. I do not believe I could sum up all of the fun I've had in the Recreation Center because every time I go, I have a blast! Also, one of the best parts about campus is the Commons. In it, you can purchase food from well-known restaurants such as Burger King, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell. We also have a KFC Express on campus which a bulk load of students prefer. As well as there's food and physical activities, there's parties and fun! I, personally, have fun everyday at Indiana State due to its fine atmosphere, networking with different people, and making new friends daily! I enjoy myself to the maximum here at Indiana State!
Bang for the buck I would say that Indiana State University is among the top most affordable schools to get into in the State! For being schooled in Indiana and pursuing college in-state, students get a hefty discount which is mighty convenient to those whose parents are helping pay for their child's college expenses. After being here for a year already and comparing my experience with the discounted amount I paid, I would say that Indiana State is definitely a Bang for the buck school.
Tips for prospective students If you are considering coming to Indiana State, here's a few tips I think you may find very useful. During the process of choosing your meal plan, I would advise you choose the Blue Plan. It comes with over 1300 credits and almost $300 in Commons Cash. I highly recommend this plan because it provides you with this amount every semester and you have less of a chance of being broke when the end of the semester approaches. Also, try to avoid getting into fights. Although sometimes it hurts to walk away from a fight, you must realize that your future is at stake. Also, try attending some of the campus activities. If you attend them, there's a good chance you'll be coming out of it with a new shirt, a new water bottle, or some very unique gadget!
Great for these types of students This school is great for those who have the ambition to learn and succeed in life, as well as have fun and enjoy themselves. Its a good school for those who like networking with people, and it's also a great school for those who like to party!

Will enjoy being here In my opinion, I'm sure I will. It's in a small town, very peaceful and safe. Moderate size campus, so it'll be pretty easy to meet new friends. Professors are very open and welcomed.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have only been at ISU for this past semester, but I am learning more from this one semester then I have my entire four years in high school. Between the professors in my classes who actually care if I come to class, and the opportunities to join some fun and educational clubs and fraternities I would suggest ISU for anyone interested in a college that has a world of opportunities to give. Whether it is study abroad chances, or internships found through the career center ISU is the place where I have learned so much, and for the next three years plan to learn so much more.
Am enjoying being here The biggest thing that I would contribute my enjoyment from ISU, is the challenging nature of the classes. Though I thoroughly love being a part of such a diverse and unique student body, I love how I can get as much as I want from any and all classes that I attend. I know that you do not have to go to many of the classes, but the fulfillment that I get from going to class and learning something new and exciting everyday cannot be replaced by anything.
Bang for the buck ISU is a state school, so because of this, they have so much money to give to perspective students. As long as you apply to the school by the time of the scholarship deadline dates, and have a decent GPA of 3.0 or higher. You can be accepted for so many scholarships I would be surprised if you have to pay anything. Combine this with the fact that many of these scholarships are recurring I would highly suggest ISU for anyone worried about paying for school. Because even if you do not get your entire experience paid for. The people in the scholarship department are more than willing to help you out. I, for example, asked the director if she knew of any scholarships that I could be eligible for, and within a week I was accepting a $3000 scholarship, and I did not have to do anything for it. If that is not more bang for your buck I do not know what is.
Tips for prospective students I have only two short tips for anyone looking at ISU:
Apply early so that you are accepted to the many recurring scholarships offered through the university.
Do not goof off too much. College is a place to push the boundaries, but do not take anything too far. It is far too easy to skip a class because you had a late night, but after that first class missed it becomes a landslide of skipped classes. For your information, when class meets they are covering information that you will use years down the road.Great for these types of students ISU is a college for people interested in diversifying their global outlook. They are so many different kind of students, from all different kinds of back grounds, you never know who you may meet next. The other big deal is the college of business offered through ISU. It is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I love all the courses I have been taking! The professors are knowledgeable in whatever they are teaching and very eager to help students who don't quite understand certain concepts. There are a lot of tutoring opportunities in every department.
Am enjoying being here I love Terre Haute! Some people don't like the smell, but I don't think it's that terrible. I also like the size of the town. It's just perfect coming from a small town like I did, so the transition to college wasn't a complete culture shock.
Bang for the buck ISU needs more scholarships for returning students. There are quite a few opportunites for incoming freshmen, but not so many for undergrads. Room and board has been my biggest expense.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! Join clubs, get in student government, be active in your residence hall if you live on campus.
Go to tutoring. No one will think you're dumb. Everyone needs some extra help from time to time, and no one understands everything.Great for these types of students The nursing program at ISU is one of the best in the state.
Physical therapy is also a good degree to look into at ISU.
Dietetics is the major I'm pursuing, and only two other schools have that degree available.
Sports medicine is also a hot major.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have two majors and one minor, but ISU is allowing me to receive my Bachelor's degree in two years. The professors and advisors have been helpful, and I am able to keep up with all my work only by their understanding and supportive attitudes. I could not see myself going anywhere else. Also, I am able to study creative writing as a minor at ISU in a simple and effective way.
Am enjoying being here Indiana State provided so many opportunities to know the students and professors in just the first few days that I have already surrounded myself with people from all over the world, and I have grown close with them all. It is like the campus is it's own little island because the environment changes for the better as soon as you step foot on campus. The people, the atmosphere, and the activities are better than I imagined.
Bang for the buck This next year is exciting for me because Indiana State University is giving me the opportunity to spend five months in Florida working and studying at Walt Disney World. This is only one of so many opportunities that ISU provides. It's motto is More. From day one. and it is true. They offer so much for every student at the college, and they get you involved as soon as you begin your studies. With my new best friend that I met at ISU, I will be interning with Disney and discovering something that I have always wanted to do, but I never thought I would be able to do.
Tips for prospective students Talk to people. If there is one thing I learned, it is that to know anything, you need to find people to be there for you and that you would do anything for. You also need to talk to faculty and staff. I have met so many people, and I am sure to introduce myself to everyone. If I had not, I would not be able to have accomplished half of what I already have. Even the people in the dining halls and the janitorial staff are fun to know. I talk to them every day, and we cheer each other up. There is never a lack of people to talk to when I feel a little homesick.
Great for these types of students Indiana State University is great for every type of student. If there isn't a club or sport or class available for you. ISU will help you start it yourself. Nothing is impossible here as long as you are willing to work hard for it. For the students who are hard workers, the honors program is available and simple. ISU is incredible.
