Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Small classes so it makes it easier to learn. Professors are always willing to help.
Am enjoying being here You have to like a city area. It's a 15 minute train ride into Manhattan.
Bang for the buck This College is expensive, however it is worth the money for what you recieve out of it. There are always things going on around campus everyday of the week
Tips for prospective students Iona is a good school for you if you like a small campus and want to be at a school where you will learn a lot for the amount of money you are paying.
Great for these types of students If you love the city but just don't want to be in busy Manhattan all the time trying to find your way around, then this school is right for you, because it is only a short train ride into all the excitement of the city that never sleeps

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Iona has a lot of good professors that really know their stuff. Most of the professors here actually are involved in their area of expertise.
Am enjoying being here There are plenty of activities in which you may get involved in. For example this Catholic school has a Baptist Society even!
Bang for the buck Iona is quite expensive, but they offer plenty of financial aid for students.
Tips for prospective students If you do come to Iona start signing up for clubs and events around campus. Get involved and get to know a lot of people. This is a very small campus and you're bound to find the group of people you enjoy hanging out with.
Great for these types of students Anyone who likes a small scale school, who enjoy small classes with teachers who can really help.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Intro level courses are very easy and although they require good writing skills, it is very easy to follow the class without reading the textbook material. Most of the classes are lecture-based, but go in-depth into the topics as well. The college also tries to limit the amount of homework so students don't spend all their time studying in their dorms.
Am enjoying being here Not much of a social scene here, although the Inter-Residence Council is working on that. Most of the campus is made up of local commuter students, and almost everyone goes home on the weekends.
Bang for the buck So far, the financial aid was very competitive with other schools like Iona, so it's not that much of a waste of money. It really depends on your program of study, but the honors program gives you six free credits per year, so take advantage of that. Most of the facilities are modern, except for the freshman dorms. Technology is up to date, but the wireless signal can be weak at times.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus a few times, and try to stay overnight and attend a class at least once. Decide if you like the area around you, and can stand living there even if you can't go home every weekend.
Great for these types of students Students who are happy to stay in at night and sit around, or can pay to go into the city for fun. Most of the social scene revolves around partying in the city Thursday through Sunday or staying in and partying in the dorms. Commuter students won't run into this problem, but residents will.
Academically, students who are looking to just skate by and get a bachelor's degree will be fine here, although I have heard that the Teaching degree program is pretty good here.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are a wide variety of classes and generally multiple sections of classes. It is easy to cater your schedule t take classes that interest you along with a teacher that best fits you. You may end up with the one class with the one teacher you don't want to have, but such is the story of every college.
Am enjoying being here I love being here. I only live 15 minutes away, but I live in the dorms and get involved in everything. In the first couple of months here I turned Iona into more than just a school, I made it my home.
Bang for the buck Anyone can make it worth their while if you take what you put into it. If you don't put anything into it, than you probably wont take what you want. However if you do what needs to get done, you will have many opportunities to have a great time and make it your most memorable years!
Tips for prospective students Pick the school that's right for you. It's a big decision, but have fun with it!
Great for these types of students It's good for those who want to be a big fish in a small crowd. It's a small campus, but their are many opportunities to stand out and take charge.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot As a alumi student, I feel that the college provides the essential tools neccessary for a student to be successful on and outside of school. The teaching strategies are wonderful and cause a learn to become critical thinkers
Did enjoy being here This school was great because I was able to get to Manhattan within 15-20 minutes on the train and everything was so accessible. It was not about having a party every week, but merely how to function as a community. Community is a big thing for this school which makes it feel like a home away from home.
Bang for the buck This is not a cheap school, but sometimes one has to realize that figures can not always be a major factor. If you want to go to a school where you are going to be forced to learn and improve your own abilities, then Iona is perfect.
Tips for prospective students Be ready and willing to take on a new way of thinking by motivated faculty and administration. It is a place to reach for the stars.
Great for these types of students Learners who want to learn and make something of there self.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers at this school are great. They are extremely helpful and will spend time with their students to provide help. The teachers know their material and answer the majority of the questions that students ask. The teachers do not want the students to fail so they willingly help. The classes are small, just like high school classes. So the teacher will have more time to focus on you.
Am enjoying being here This school has a great atmosphere. The teachers, faculty and students are very nice. There are many events that occur on and off campus that students can attend. Most of the events are free or cost as much as 5 dollars.
Bang for the buck Although this school is expensive to attend, it is worth to spend the money. There are many food places on and off campus that the students can eat. There are places students can go for tutoring and the buildings are constantly being improved. The money is not going to waste on this campus. The faculty are constantly improving the quality of the campus for the students.
Tips for prospective students If you could, you should choose to dorm. Yeah, it may be expensive but it is something that all students should experience. The ability to dorm is a great way to meet many new students and create friendships. People can find other students who have the same major or have the same class and can help each other. It is definitely something to consider when choosing a college.
And also, don't be afraid to approach a teacher if you need help. You will not look like someone who is stupid because we all have that worry. We worry about what people would think when they ask for help. It is not something to worry about. Students need help all the time and approaching a teacher will greatly benefit. The teachers will help you until you get the material or direct you towards a tutor to help you aswell.Great for these types of students Anyone who wants to make something of themselves. This is an excellent school to go to. This is also good for students who want to be near the city, it is only a 40 minute train ride to the city! It is also a small school, so it is easy to make friends and take charge. There are activities all the time, and if you want to become someone big, that there are many opportunities to do so.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Iona has amazing professors who know the material that they are teaching extremely well and make learning easy and enjoyable.
Am enjoying being here As a commuter there are many activites to get involved and stay involoved with the Iona community. I spent majority of my time here than at home.
Bang for the buck Tuition is expensive but I would never have let that stop me from going to Iona College.
Tips for prospective students Always stay on top of your work and never leave things for the last minute. Also, take advantage of the faculty and sources around you.
Great for these types of students If your an education major, love sports or just love to be in a friendly environment Iona is the college for you.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Iona College has great academic programs. The campus is very well kept up. The education makes students actually work really hard to attain their grades.
Tips for prospective students You definitely want to try getting involved in as much clubs and activities that you possibly can. Be outgoing. Be yourself.
Academic Rigor I think Iona is a reach school for many. It is definitely manageable though. A lot of outside of class work and preparation is definitely needed though.
Dorm Life Dorm life is one of the best things about Iona. Freshmen live in suites of 5 or 6. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom and shower for each suite. Upper clansmen have the choice of living in on campus apartments of either 3,4, or 5 or they have the choice of living in suites of 7 or 10 people. Dorm life at Iona is definitely the best with not having community bathrooms.
Food and Dining The food is another plus. You have off campus and on campus food. Off campus is all the restaurants and delis and on campus there are a few cafeterias. You basically pay for what you get though. Guys sometimes have a hard time with this plan though.
What to do for fun We are very close to the city, so a lot of people go there. Also, we have New Roc right down the road which has a movie theater, arcade, bowling, rides, etc. Also we are a division I school so sports are a big hit of going to watch as well.
Bang for the buck It is a private school so with that being said somewhat expensive. But they are good with giving academic scholarships to majority of the students. Also, with it being near the city definitely easier to get internships and jobs after graduation.
Clubs and Activities Majority of students are in clubs. It is definitely a great way to get involved and meet people.
Greek Life We have a big greek life at Iona. Most people that want to really get involved join greek life.
Campus Safety Iona has a very safe campus. There are security cars that rotate through out the campus constantly. Also we have blue lights which anyone can hit incase there is an emergency and students can talk to security through that.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Iona is a small college which is good if that is what you are looking for. The small community allows you to get to know other students, even upper class men! Over all the school is great, educational wise and social life wise.
Tips for prospective students Freshmen need to come with an open mind. You need to be willing to get to know others and join clubs. It is hard adjusting to college but it gets easier as the weeks go by.
Academic Rigor Academic wise this school is good. It is a college so the school's courses require hard work and a lot of studying. There are usually no surprises and the professors understand situations if you speak to them ahead of time. Again, it depends on the professor that is teaching the class.
Dorm Life Dorm life is what you make it! If you put yourself out there then you will have a great year. The college usually does a questionnaire before you come to the school just to try and match you up with other roommates. This does not always work well but most time it is successful. Once you are settled in you get to hang out with friends and suite mates. Some floors become like a family and look out for one another. The RAs in the halls are easy going and strict. They are nice but if you are doing things you are not suppose to, you get written up. Overall if you are quite, you'll have a good dorm life.
Food and Dining The food is not bad. They recently opened up a new lounge where they sell food. There is salad, burgers, sushi. There is also a quiznos and Starbucks coffee. All of this is on the meal card. There are also outside food options. There is a diner, and other small local shops that are on the meal card. Applebees just recently got added to the meal card. A new place is Blackboard. They are a pizza shop who opened a few months ago and they have amazing pizza. Food is never a failure here.
What to do for fun There is always something to do. There are activities on campus going on. There is Greek Life. There is also SGA, Edmound Rice Society, the sporting events are great and fun. Homecoming. If you are not into that there is always time to watch movies with your friends or go to the local park and take a walk. There is a near by town where you can go to the movies, bowling, arcade and more.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Traditions include: Pipe band, Homecoming, Sporting events, St. Patrick's Day Parade, Thanksgiving Day Parade(New Rochelle).
Clubs and Activities A wide range of activities. You get to meet new people and learn more. There are clubs for your major and for your interest.
Greek Life There are many Sororities and Fraternities. This includes 2 national sororities and 1 national fraternity. This process takes place in the fall and in the spring and lasts about 5 weeks. Geek life is good if that is what you are into!
Campus Safety Overall this is a safe campus. The dorms are especially safe and always asking for IDs. There is not usually any loud nosies or problems.
