Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Professors at Ithaca College really care about their students and want you to succeed. For me, the most striking part was realizing that my Anatomy professor made the effort to get to know all 180 students by name and interests. Professors will respond to emails and will try to get to know you by name if you put in the effort to try to get to know them. I am not saying that every professor at Ithaca will try to get to know everyone in a 100 person class but if you go an introduce yourself they will know you and appreciate the gesture.
Am enjoying being here I have enjoyed Ithaca but I realize that there are still a lot of places that I need to explore. I have not yet been to the gorges in the area and have not explored the town nearly enough. The music school and the theatre department put on amazing performances (many of them free or at a low cost!). The weekends can turn dull but you can always ride the T-CAT (bus system) into town and find something to do with friends.
Bang for the buck Ithaca College is an expensive school, no doubt about it. I am only able to afford it because of the amount of financial aid I received. They give out both merit scholarships and scholarships based on need. If I had to pay tuition with no help I do not think that Ithaca would be worth it just because the amount of debt would be unmanageable.
Tips for prospective students If you want quiet, do not live in the Towers; the walls are paperthin
Save your bonus bucks (snack money with your meal plan) you will want them by the end of the semester
As I mentioned before introduce yourself and get to know your professors; they will be happy that you made the effort to get to know them.
Study hard, but have fun too. Make sure to not lock yourself in your room all day; everyone is looking for a friend the first few weeks of college so get to know people.Great for these types of students -Students who like the outdoors- there are lots of hiking trails and gorges to look at and explore
-Music students- their music school is amazing
- Undecided Students- Ithaca College has a great Exploratory Program where they guide you on classes to take and you are required to take a first year seminar which automatically gets you into a small classroom setting.
-Any health major- The School of Health Science and Health Performance which I am a part of helps you plan for your future. They will aid you in getting internships and doing research.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors, they want you to succeed and they will help you with everything. They really get to know you so take advantage of that.
Visit in the winter, it gets cold and snowy. The first time I went up to Ithaca in February of 07 there was about 3 feet of snow (no lie) on the ground. Expect a lot of that! Its not as bad as everyone thinks. It snows in the morning and its warmer by the afternoon.
Also, explore the town, its full of a lot of little surprises.
Ithaca is all about community, if you like chill people, Ithaca is the school for you.Great for these types of students If you want to learn, if you want to be in a relaxed environment, if you want to get personal attention from your professors, if you want to be in a place that cares about you and if you want to be happy with your academic and social life, go to Ithaca.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ithaca College offers many opportunities to pursue any subject that you may desire to study. You can be a communication major and still have the chance to take art history or any other class that may catch your eye. As a cinema major, I have taken several film classes already that offer a variety of information on film techniques, directors' styles, and using actually film equipment. Ithaca does not require any general studies classes while attending, except for a semester of academic writing which helped me out a lot, but instead offers a wide range of classes that you may choose to take. At Ithaca you feel as if you have limitless options when it comes to your academic life. Ithaca does not bound you to any specific subject but instead encourages you to try new things and study something outside your major. You even have the opportunity to take classes at Cornell College or in any study abroad program. I know I'm already planning on studying in London, England during my junior year.
Am enjoying being here The second you step on to the campus you can feel the full college life. Ithaca offers so much socially and academically. The atmosphere on campus makes it hard to leave. Everyday is a new adventure. From the variety of clubs, sports teams, and social facilities makes it hard to ever be bored. Even when you step off campus there are many things to do. You can go to the town, which is just at the bottom of the hill, and eat at various restaurants or shop in several unique stores or just hang out in the commons. My friends and I usually go swimming in the gorges when its warm and head into the commons when its cold. During my spare time I usually either head to the gym, which has a great rock wall, or hang with my friends in the pub, which is an area inside campus center where you can just sit and hang with your friends while listening to music or grab a bite to eat from any of the three mini restaurants. I love especially my dorm building, Terrace 13, which is new this year. My dorm is great because everyone on my floor is so close and everyone's room has a air conditioner and heater that you can control yourself. I have never had a dull moment at school.
Bang for the buck Ithaca College offers a lot of financial aid to students. Most people that I have talked to this year have told me that they had received some sort of financial aid. I am one of the many who has received financial help. The tuition is very expensive, but the school is so worth it. Ithaca offers a lot of opportunities and is well known for their successful alumni who are always willing to help out a fellow Ithaca student. The school offers many internships and study abroad programs. The school also offers a lot of employment opportunities on campus for attending students. The work study program allows students to have paid jobs on campus while attending school. The jobs vary from working as a lifeguard by the pool to working in a office to working in the library. I have a job in the dining hall once a week. The school allows you to pick where you want to work and how many days you want to work. Everything about Ithaca is focused on the students' needs; the professors are all there to help students be successful and reach their fullest potential.
Tips for prospective students Ithaca is a great place to be and if you decide to attend that take advantage of all these great opportunities. Take a class that sounds any bit interesting to you, join a team or club if is about something you like to do, be part of the work study program if you are worried about money, go out and meet new people, and don't be afraid to ask your advisor or professors for help or advise about anything. You only have four years of college, make sure you use those four years well and live them to the fullest.
Great for these types of students Are you creative, intelligent, friendly, unique, and want the chance to experience something new or be attend a school that makes you feel comfortable to be who you are? Then you are a Ithaca student. Everyone here is unique and friendly; its hard not to make friends. I know going away from home may be scary especially if you enter into college not knowing anybody, but attending Ithaca makes you feel right at home and makes the transition from high school to college really easy and pain free. If you want to the full college experience then you should be a Ithaca College student!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a music major, my knowledge of music has grown exponentially. After my first semester, I have so much more knowledge on musical styles and forms, keyboard, my instrument (clarinet), and theory. Already, I have performed in a quartet and in my studio's repertoire class as well as in 3 concerts in a major ensemble for just music majors. Outside of music, I have had the opportunity to take classes in all disciplines to fulfill my non-music credits. The academics can be rigorous at times, but professors give you so many opportunities to expand on and apply what you learned in class. Professors also offer their emails, office hours, and phone numbers so students can keep in contact and receive extra help if they need it.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the atmosphere that is Ithaca College. Everyone is so open and willing to make friends. There is always something to do and many of the events are free or offered at a cheap price, including the concerts and recitals in the music school, the plays and musicals presented by the theatre program, the sporting events, and events sponsored by the many campus organizations and clubs. Ithaca College also has Academic Support services, the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs for all students (including minority and LGBT students), and the Career Services for resume review and internship and job placement. Ithaca is definitely very accepting of LGBT students, students of different religions (Muller Chapel is right on campus and hosts religious services each week), and students with dietary needs. The Commons in downtown Ithaca offer restaurants and eclectic stores that will not be found anywhere else. Cornell University, a short bus ride across the hill, also offers events to IC students. For people who enjoy the outdoors, Ithaca is surrounded by Cayuga Lake, beautiful gorges, and many other parks and trails.
Bang for the buck Ithaca offers the top-notch programs in each of its schools and disciplines. Job placement is also very high after graduation and many students also go on to graduate school. The price is high as it is a private school, but IC offers many resources and opportunities for students, including the Fitness Center, the new Athletic and Events Center that will be completed by 2011, and the library. Also, the college offers the chance for students to work on campus.
Tips for prospective students Ithaca is in upstate New York, so snow will definitely happen. Although there will not be as much lake-effect snow as Buffalo, I still suggest investing in a good pair of boots, a boot tray for your dorm, gloves, and a good winter coat.
Even if you are not sure of your major, becoming an Exploratory student (or Undecided) can help you explore your interests while still taking advantage of Ithaca's resources and opportunities.
When selecting dorms, apply for the First Year Program or the other learning environments. This way, you can meet people that are also incoming freshmen or have the same interests as you do.
Read the emails that come to you about campus events. The bulletin boards also have upcoming events and opportunities posted on them. I am always surprised when I tell a friend about an event and they had no idea about it and are left wishing they could have gone.Great for these types of students Ithaca is great for students with diverse backgrounds, including in relation to religion, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. IC is very accepting of these types of students. People who like the outdoors will also love Ithaca. In addition, students looking into music, theatre, communications, and health science will love the programs that IC has in place.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors at Ithaca College are devoted and are always willing to help students. As a sophomore I have learned more than I have ever imagined in my freshman year. As a cinema and photography major I have already made two short films and used bolex film cameras.
Am enjoying being here Ithaca College provides a diverse student body and a variety of programs to orient freshman comfortably. The school is very friendly and active, holding a variety of festivals throughout the year. The nearby town is also very active and includes Cornell University.
Bang for the buck Ithaca's tuiton is reasonable as it's programs are very well-known and credible, especially its communications program. The school also has a wide variety of student help organizations that help students find jobs, internships, and also help with academics.
Tips for prospective students If I could give prospective students some simple advice, I would tell them to focus on school and plan your time wisely but also have fun. Make sure you love your major and if not become and exploratory major so that you can easily determine what you are good at. Also, always plan ahead and try to stay organized. Take advantage of the tools, professors, and other students that the school has provided to help you.
Great for these types of students Students that are seeking an open-minded and creative school to express themselves should pursue Ithaca. Also, students that want a comfortable and stress-free environment will love Ithaca. Music, theater, communications, and business majors will especially fit in because of Ithaca's great reputation in these areas.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning more and succeeding more than I thought I ever could. I get hands and personal instruction from my professors; it is an opportunity that not many other colleges offer.
Am enjoying being here Everyone in Ithaca is nice. It didn't take too long to make some good friends and everyone is very welcoming.
Bang for the buck It is slightly expensive, but it is worth it. Ithaca offers so many opportunities, great teachers and classes, and a great environment. Plus, the financial aid office is likely to help out with decent aid packages.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of all that Ithaca College has to offer. Take classes you enjoy, study, and have fun. Get involved. Also study abroad if you can.
Great for these types of students Music, communications, physical therapy, occupational therapy, theater

Music and Anthropology Double Major at IC
Reviewer is A current student here.
Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Ithaca College faculty members are really knowledgeable about each of their respective fields and have no difficulty sharing this with students. Most have a Ph.D. in their field and have professional experience outside of the classroom which they incorporate into lessons. Students are given the ability to put forth feedback on their professors, so even if there was an issue with teaching students would be able to address this. There are tons of extra-curricular activities available on the IC campus, from a Quidditch club to a Gay Rights activism group, therefore enabling learning outside of the classroom as well. There is always a theater show or concert going on every night of the week (literally every night) so students find it hard to be bored.
Am enjoying being here I love the IC campus. There is a healthy mix of liberal college students for which the city of Ithaca is known for, but there are also plenty of more conservative, business-oriented students and athletes for many sports. People at IC are on the whole very welcoming; this includes the professors and students as well as professional staff members. The town itself is amazing because it feels metropolitan yet is also on the small side for college towns. There is a huge amount of culture to be had both on-campus and off.
Bang for the buck Ithaca is extremely expensive and most are shocked at the price at first glance. Though it is very high, Ithaca is usually good about finding scholarships for students or finding other ways to fund their education. Ithaca is also great in that they admit to not having every class that more research-oriented students might want, so they have an exchange agreement with Cornell University in which we can take classes there (up to 12 credits) and they can take classes here.
Tips for prospective students If you want a school that has a huge, diverse population, Ithaca may not be the best choice for you. Many (but definitely not all) students are from the East Coast of the US. The student population is around 6,500 undergrads I believe, so you can always meet someone new but still recognize most people you see on campus. Though we're a liberal arts college, the educational quality is great and IC prepares you exceptionally well for your future career.
Great for these types of students Ithaca is rated one of the best schools for LGBTQAA students, so if that is a factor, Ithaca is a great choice. Most staff and students are extremely accepting of LGBTQAA students and we even have a residential learning area specifically for LGBTQAA students who wish to live there.
IC is also really great for music students (#1 in the US for music education and in the top 10 for performance) and theater students.
Students interested in Business would do really well here because our Business School is one of the top in the nation and there are tons of professional opportunities available to them.
Also, the PT and OT program are ranked some of the best in the nation.
Basically, students who enjoy a well-rounded education (outside and inside the classroom) would do well here. Those focused solely on one specific area in life would not.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Once took a class called Intro to Communication Disorders for fun. Turned out to be a really hard class but I learned so much. There are so many classes people can take that have nothing to do with your major. It can just be something that intrests you and you get credit for it. How great is that?!
I am a Writing major and enjoy the writing classes we have. So many different areas. We have creative, feature, sports and grant writing. I personally am a creative writer and I love being able to write about whatever I want and it doesnt matter how weird it sounds.Am enjoying being here The weather could be alot better but the atmosphere and the accpetence I feel here is amazing! Every one is friendly and helpful. The view is gorgeous! So everyone should definitely get a Ithaca is Gorges because it is so true. The gorges are great and as a right of passage one must go gorge jumping. Although, I do have to warn you, the waters kinda cold even in September.
Bang for the buck I think it is worth the money because of the reputation Ithaca College has on the workplace. Also the Career Center has great resources for Internships and the like. So many kids who have graduated from IC have gone to do great things and have worked at top companies. I know that a college with that kind of history, is a great college to go to no matter the cost. It will be worth it in the long run. I know that I will have alot of loans to pay off but I am sure it will work out.
Tips for prospective students The town of Ithaca is a legit collegetown which means everyone should explore it especially the Commons. It is a great place to shop and eat.
The parties are good here too especially at Cornell but remember if you stay out late, there are vey few busses that will bring you back to IC. The taxi service is wicked expensive too.
One thing I wish someone told me is how quickly winter comes. So bring a heavy jacket after fall break. Trust me, you are going to need it.
Cortaca is the biggest little game in America. Seriously. If you dont go to any other football game, go to this one.
Visit Ithaca College before you start, I guarantee you will make your decision in a snap.Great for these types of students Ithaca College is great for all kinds of people. Ithaca is both rural and city like because of the hill we are on and the town of Ithaca. The workload isnt super hard but its not super easy either so I feel like its the perfect balance. If you love the cold, IC is perfect because it is cold 85% of the year. This school has a great music, drama and physical therapy program. Those are the three majors most people come for but dont get me wrong, the other majors are great too. Overall, this school is great!!! Check us out!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here really know their stuff. They sincerely want you to learn your material and are always willing to meet with you after class to help hash out problems you are having. I've only been here for one semester but I've gotten help from several teachers outside of class and have done much better in class because of it.
Am enjoying being here Everything you need is not far from Ithaca College. Downtown is only a short bus ride away. As far as being on campus, there are so many wonderful services here that many colleges don't offer to the extent Ithaca does (my personal favorite is the LGBT center where there is a full-time staff employee there to help organize events and be a resource for LGBT students).
Bang for the buck Ithaca College is a private school, so of course it is expensive. But it is totally worth the money. Teachers are so involved and want their students to succeed and there are so many clubs and organizations you have access to. There is also a new fitness center in the works, and, like the current one, it will be free to get in for students.
Tips for prospective students Like any college application, put a lot of love and care into it. Show that you are sincerely interested in what they have to offer. Be sure to include all the little details... Ithaca is one of those colleges that will actually look at them.
Great for these types of students Anyone can fit in at Ithaca College. However, I have noticed that students who know how to balance their social life with their academic life do the best. Ithaca has rigorous programs, but you have to commit yourself to the program. You will have to do lots of work and lots will be expected of you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Listen to your professors!
Bang for the buck I think they should give a little more money out to make it more affordable.
Tips for prospective students Don't let the weather get you down! It's beautiful, and truly, there's a crowd for everyone. Talk to the students! They know so much, and they're enthusiastic... they'll let you know what's going on, what classes to take, where to live, anything.
Great for these types of students I see really creative and just down to earth people around here. People seem to have dimension and character, rather than the flat personalities I knew from other places.

Music Major
Reviewer is A current student here.
Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The music curriculum isn't one where if you mention to people I'm a music major their response will be along the lines of Oh, that's easy. Our schedule is packed with one, .5, and two credit classes, and when we're not at class, we're practicing or reviewing homework in McHenry or the Diva Lounge. After my freshman year, I feel like I've really become emersed on what it's like to learn nothing but music (okay, so I had a few non-music classes too). Keyboard, history (and you can't forget Styles with John White!), fundies+music theory, sightsinging, and more have all provided a comprehensive background for preparation for my sophomore year.
Am enjoying being here LOVE it. Going to other college campuses made me love my school more. It's manageable to get around, yet not TOO small (compared to Cornell that's up the hill and really should have it's own zip code). And it is absolutely beautiful!
Bang for the buck Well, a recently upped $51,000 pricetag definitely isn't one of the cheapest colleges you can go to. I didn't get a lot of financial aid because of my grades, but they do have great programs such as the MLK and Park Scholar programs that offer up to full tuition. And if your grades ARE good, don't let the price scare you because they do have other scholarships that award good grades.
Tips for prospective students Visit not only during spring or summer, but also in the winter. It's not as bad as I thought, but I'm from Connecticut and the only difference I found was that there was wind chill because of Lake Cayuga. For others, though, the sharp cold plus all the hills and stairs can be a deterring factor.
Great for these types of students Music, music theater, communications programs are some of the top in the country.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I came to this school knowing almost nothing about communications, but we dived right in and were using cameras within the first week of classes. The curriculum for classes inside and outside park is very hands on and I feel very confident, even in classes I didn't think I would do very well in. The professors are very open and willing to help and I have always felt that they see us as individual students with specific needs rather than just a class. Not to mention, you will have an advisor who knows you name and can actually help you. I have had many opportunities to take classes in a variety of different fields and am learning more than I ever though I would.
Am enjoying being here Although it is a long drive from home, it's worth it. I hardly ever feel bored with the collegetown feel of Ithaca and theres always something going on during the weekend such as concerts, shows and movies on campus. Getting downtown is pretty easy with the TCat buses which will also bring you to malls and stores like Target and Wal-Mart. Because the school is a little smaller, I found it a lot easier to meet people in my classes and dorms. There are also so many extracurricular activities to be a part of ranging from working on a television show for ICTV to raising money for cancer research. In the warm weather, most people will just head down for a hike and go to the gorges. Ithaca is a beautiful town and there are so many diverse opportunities for the students from both Ithaca and Cornell.
Also, thanks to Ithaca College, I had the opportunity to study abroad in London for a semester. It was probably the best four months of my life and I met the most incredible people there and got to travel to places I never imagined I would get to go to. Ithaca has their own center in London and LA and I think that being in that small Ithaca community really helped when trying to ease into an entirely different environment. Not to mention, your financial aid and credits easily travel over!Bang for the buck Being a private school, Ithaca is pretty expensive. Like most people, without financial aid, I wouldn't be able to attend this school. Luckily, Ithaca does give out a good amount of grants and loans to help students like me. But it is definitely worth it, with all the opportunities that Ithaca gives to students, not to mention the great reputation of its name that will follow you around, even after you leave the school. There is also a great work study program that gives students with need a job at one of the many locations of campus. I have worked in the dining hall which gives me a flexible schedule and the ability to pick up others people's shifts. There are also many jobs available in places like the library, game room, information desk, catering and event services. Ithaca wants to give all students the chance to experience the school and does a lot to help those who are more financially challenged. But with everything I have gotten to do inside Roy H Park School of Communications, the people and alumni I have been able to meet and the ability to travel to another country has definitely been worth it.
Tips for prospective students I know this is generic advice, but get involved with as much as you can. There is so much to do and see around Ithaca and over 200 clubs and activities that allow you to experience that.
Ithaca has pretty unpredictable weather. Since I've been there, there has been snow is September and sun in January. You really want to make sure you're prepared for those days when its 30 degrees and raining and then suddenly its 50 degrees and sunny.
There is so much to get involved in, not only the school, but the town itself. If you don't get work study, get a job off campus. I volunteer at an animal shelter only 15 minutes away from the school. There are so many festivals and events downtown, so make sure you don't spend all your time on campus.
Don't be afraid to take a class you don't know anything about. I know nothing about computers but I am getting ready to take a 3D animation programming class next semester and I couldn't be more excited! Ithaca has so many different fields, it's impossible to not want to try them all.Great for these types of students Anyone who is willing to learn new things. Creative students who really want to get involved in their school and meet new people. Ithaca is one of the more diverse schools that I've seen and they are so open and caring about their students.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All of my classes have been hands on from day one. The professors really like to get students involved and create a good student-teacher bond. I have had professors who go out of their way to meet you (my professors have even come to meet me in the lounge in my dorm!) to help me out with a project or go over information for a test.
Am enjoying being here The campus and the surrounding area is beautiful and the city of Ithaca is awesome (lots of cool restaurants and shopping to do.. if you have money which tends to be rare). Getting into town is sometimes tricky because the TCAT is never on time and breaks down a lot and Ithaca doesn't currently have a student shuttle into town (so you have to pay). On campus there isn't a whole lot to do on the weekends, other than the occasional After Dark event but even those do not provide much more than a half hour of entertainment.
Bang for the buck Tuition is very pricey here and although the staff and facilities are very nice, it still seems a bit of a steep cost. However, financial aid is friendly and very helpful in finding out ways to cover tuition if your aid package comes back less than you expected.
Tips for prospective students Get involved in your classes!! Professors love it if you talk in class and come to their office hours. Don't be afraid of appearing nerdy, the extra effort on your part will definitely help you down the road.
Great for these types of students Well of course the communications and music schools are fantastic here but really I would recommend Ithaca to anyone who really wants to get involved in their school. Since IC is pretty small it really is more like a community than a huge city full of college kids.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ithaca College has a number of services and staff on campus to aid in the learning process. On top of that they offer many opportunities for students to get involved in the community and Tompkins county. This helps the students learn learn more information in general about various subjects but also about themselves and other people. Ithaca has a diverse and open-minded population that helps bring awareness to problems, like plumpy nut, that many people in everyday life would not normally know about. This helps make the students more aware of the world, how they affect it, and what they can do to change it.
Am enjoying being here There are so many unique clubs on campus so it is hard to choose which ones to join. They have a red cross club and a club for almost all majors on campus. The commons are within walking distance and the mall is a short bus ride away. If one needs to be entertained. Even with all of these things that happen off campus there are many more that happen on campus. There are theatre productions that students can see. There is an organization on campus who's main objective is to entertain students. They bring in comedians and they all run movies that a free or cheap for students. They also put on themed events like Urban Cowboy ,which included a mechanical bull, for students to just unwind, relax, have fun with friends, and meet new people. The Ra's on each floor of the resident halls also run events for students throughout the year so there are many things to do here.
Bang for the buck Although, Ithaca is a little more on the expensive side, it really is worth it. The education you get here rivals that of an Ivy league school. The programs and education here really are life changing. Teachers here actually care about you so you don't have to worry about being just another face. The purpose of this college is to help you succeed and they will help you reach your goals.
Tips for prospective students Look for a school that offers a great comprehensive program for your major or if you undecided, a school that offers a comprehensive program that helps students to get a wide variety of course that will help them choose a major. Also, look for a school that has a strong base in the community and that offers a balance of academics and amusement. Students should visit a school to actually see the campus and it layout and this way they can see and hear about all of the services offered at the school and they can talk to current students who can help answer and questions that may be had. Ithaca does and has all of these things.
Great for these types of students Ithaca has many accredited programs that offer a better education for undergraduate students. Some of these programs being Biology, Speech Pathology and Theatre. students who do not know what they want to major in should come to Ithaca because they offer a wide variety of courses that can help students. However, students who just want to be better or want to learn more about life in general should come to Ithaca. It is a great experience for people who want to learn and are open minded or just curious about anything from music to other cultures.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are all extremely helpful and aim to teach you the most they can. Many professors strive to give us the education we are paying for. Along with interesting, intimate classes, you will learn a lot from the variety of clubs, extracurriculars and sports offered (Girl's Rugby!).
Am enjoying being here Ithaca over-accepted in 2009 but the staff and faculty work non-stop to accommodate and entertain the extra people. I love the diverse campus where film students, music majors, drama and journalism kids can all be best friends and learn from each other. Downtown Ithaca is also a perfect place for college kids to shop, eat, and explore, while still feeling the close-knit community.
Bang for the buck The college gives out great scholarships and provides numerous opportunities for students to get ahead. This includes frequent, sought-after speakers, many on-campus events and concerts, and great internships to L.A, NYC, and abroad.
Tips for prospective students Tour all of the different dorms to see what is right for you, because the Lower Quad dorms are completely different from the Towers. Also, make sure to see the downtown area or explore the famous waterfalls and gorges with your family to get a feel for the surroundings.
Great for these types of students Students who have great talent they want to perfect, like writing or playing an instrument. Also students who want an open, active, liberal environment to use their skills to change the world.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are great about teaching the required material, there are a fair amount of different classes to choose from to help figure out what you'll want to do in the future.
Am enjoying being here The location is beautiful, but I have a problem with it being isolated on a mountain and nowhere near any major cities. Sure its in Ithaca but there really isn't that much there to do. I find myself being bored a fair amount of the time.
Bang for the buck Here is my biggest problem with the school, this year (2009-2010) the school overenrolled about 25% more students then the school could accomidate for. All of the lounges were turned into bedroom so there is no where to just hang out or meet people on campus. And honestly there isn't much to do on campus, there are a few clubs you could join but There aren't that many to choose from.
Tips for prospective students visit the school during the winter. Though it doesn't sound ideal you dont' know the type of weather you're getting into until you experience it for yourself. Not to mention winter takes up about 70% of the weather that you will be experiencing while you are living on campus.
Great for these types of students For students that really want to get away and experience a new setting from home. you are litterally isolated on a mountain and there is no quick way of getting home unless you live in the area. You also have to love snow and not be afraid to be cold.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ithaca College offers a wide arrange of classes. Students also have the opportunity to design their own majors. Classes vary in sizes, but the professors try their best to get to personally know each of their students. The professors take their time to design a curriculum that will best suit the needs of each student.
Am enjoying being here Besides activities provided on campus, there are a lot of things to do off campus. If you are a nature person, there are many trails that you can explore. The Commons also hosts a variety of events that may be of interest to some people. The college does a good job of making sure that there are a variety of events hosted on campus.
Bang for the buck No doubt, Ithaca College is really expensive. Tuition does go up almost every year, and for some it may be hard to pay off the steep cost. But the college offers MANY scholarships based on merit, financial need, or athletics. You can also pay off some of your tuition by getting a campus job, which the school has plenty of. As a Humanities and Sciences student, I find that it is worth to pay such a high price because as soon as I got into the school, I was offered many research opportunities that I wouldn't have gotten at any other school.
Tips for prospective students Don't procrastinate. Do your assignments on time, and if you need help in a subject, don't be afraid to ask for help. Balance your social and academic life. Get involved in clubs and organizations on campus. Get to know your professors personally...don't be afraid to drop by their office just to say HI. Be open and true to yourself. Get to know the people in your residence hall...after all you will be living with them for almost a year.
Great for these types of students The t-cat bus will become your best form of transportation at a cheap cost. Ithaca College students have easy access to events that happen on Cornell's campus. You will love the class choices available to you at Ithaca College.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here are excellent, and I haven't found a single one yet who isn't willing to work with a student in various ways to make sure they learn as much, and get the best grade that they possibly can. Not just that, but even the classes a person would expect to be boring (like calculus, yuck!) are great. If you're struggling with classes, and the professor can't seem to help you directly, there's also a bunch of ways to find tutors! The special thing about Ithaca is that the people here actually WANT you to succeed as much as you want to.
Am enjoying being here First off, let me say, that the area is absolutely beautiful. Granted, if you don't like the cold or rain it may not be the school for you--but don't let a little bad weather turn you off! People say it can get dull and repetitive sometimes (and, admittedly, it can), but your experience will be what you make of it. Just keep your eyes open! There are always activities going on, you just need to pay attention. There are bulletin boards up all over the place (Campus Center, the Dining Halls, Dorms, And even in the Academic buildings!), and they send out daily notices through email to let you know what's going on. The people are great too, I've made great friends.
Bang for the buck Ithaca College comes with a hefty price tag, I know, and that can seem really scary. But (firstly) they're very willing to work with kids who need financial assistance, and if they can't find a way to give them with the money through scholarships, they're always willing to help you find information on loans and other types of aid.
Even with the tuition Ithaca is definitely worth it. The variety of programs and classes, the quality of the professors and students, it's amazing. You get what you pay for, when it comes to Ithaca. You really do.Tips for prospective students Don't slack. Ithaca can be tons of fun, yeah, but if you don't put in the work to get the grade you want, you're not going to get it.
You have to be willing to talk to people, I got really lucky making friends, because they were braver than me. I can't imagine what would have happened if they hadn't come to me first! But the people here are friendly, so you don't have to be afraid to approach them!
Jump outside of the box! If you get outside of your comfort zone you'll be both surprised and infinitely pleased how many great things you can get into.Great for these types of students -People who don't mind a little cold or rain every so often.
-People who love the outdoors (when they say Ithaca is gorges [horrible pun, I know] they're NOT kidding).
-People who want to learn, and have fun doing it.
-People who are willing to work for what they want.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ithaca College's Professors are some of the most personal and kind instructors I have encountered. The liberal arts atmosphere partnered with the small classes sizes (average 16) is the best learning environment I can imagine.
Am enjoying being here Ithaca was my first choice, dream school and I cannot imagine myself any place else. The town itself has been made USA Todays list of Best College towns many times. There is always something do do, whether it is a Gingerbread making contest on campus or Applefest downtown.
Bang for the buck There is not hiding it, Ithaca College is expensive but I believe it is really worth it. If you are someone that values a personal experience with interesting classes that really challenge you, than IC is worth the money.
Tips for prospective students Come visit us! Once you see the campus and hear what the tour guide has to say, you just might fall in love like I did.
Great for these types of students Ithaca admissions councilors really look for students who are involved in their community and school. Leaders are great, but we aren't all leaders in high school. People who care about their education and their community truly blossom at IC.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Teachers in Ithaca aren't just teacher. They become a friend committed to help you succeed. I've never seen so may teachers worried for students, and adjusting their curriculum based on students performances.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy every day of this place. In IC people are friendly, and are always saying nice. It plays out pretty well. You have a gorgeous place and gorgeous people with great generosity.
Bang for the buck Pretty pricey though. BUT THEY ARE NOT CHEAP! THEY WILL HELP YOU OUT!!!
Tips for prospective students You need to come with an open mind and heart. YES you WILL have fun, but just know this, when it's time to study. You do just that. At IC the biggest jocks will fool you. You're going to think they are slacking when they are not. These people will be taking care of their work and you will be fooled. So HAVE fun, but also do your work.
Great for these types of students You're going to love it here. Be prepare for lots of fun, studying and most importantly Snow and Cold!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I've only been here one semester so far (transfer student), but I have to say that you really learn A LOT at IC. The professors are top-notch and know their stuff (as they should!). Meeting with professors during office hours also contributed towards learning a great deal about their academic subjects, so you can learn just as much outside of the classroom as you do in it.
Am enjoying being here For the most part, I love it at Ithaca. Sure, you sometimes have to put up with the drunken fools in the parking lots outside the dorms, but you get that every college. The professors are very accessible for further discussion or clarification, the clubs host TONS of events for the college, and the people are generally nice and easy to befriend and get along with.
Bang for the buck It is ridiculously expensive, but Ithaca does give out quite a bit of financial aid. If it weren't for the huge financial aid package I received, I wouldn't even be able to consider going here. It's well worth it, especially if you are looking at the music and communications programs, as well as the theatre and physical therapy ones.
Tips for prospective students Study! But also don't forget to take a break once in a while. IC After Dark hosts a lot of late night events for free on campus, as well as other clubs and organizations, and they're not cheesy, either! :) Take a break to go to the Commons (especially during Applefest), or to see one of the school's productions in Dillingham. Also, don't download or torrent music/movies (they DO check!), and don't be an idiot. Campus police WILL get you in trouble if you are violating Code of Conduct, I mean it. So don't have anything in your room that you shouldn't have *ahem* and if you're going to have a party, don't be ridiculously loud.
Great for these types of students Music, communications, television-radio, theatre, physical therapy, occupational therapy.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This is a good school. Many new buildings that are 'green'. Lots of ways to get involved within the different school and many organizations available.
Tips for prospective students Get involved. Join organizations and become an active member of the ithaca community.
Academic Rigor Good academics be avoid brand new professors most don't know what they are doing until at least they have been there longer then a semester.
Dorm Life Avoid T13 the room are very small. Try getting a room in the terraces they tend to be larger but the quads and towers are nice as well. Note that sometimes the elevators in the towers tend to break down.
Food and Dining Its campus food not much of a variety.
What to do for fun Gorge jumping, going into town, house parties.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Ithaca college has a wonderful campus environment. There are plenty of options in academics as well as co-curriculars. Ithaca College works to help their students accomplish goals and succeed.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors because they are willing to help.
Academic Rigor Some classes are more difficult than others, but they all typically provide a challenge to help expand students' knowledge.
Dorm Life There are a variety of different living arrangements on campus to choose from, but they are not the most luxurious dorms, unless you want to pay extra.
Food and Dining There are a lot of options for food but they are not the healthiest or tastiest all the time.
What to do for fun One of the best ways to enjoy the area is to go to the gorges and take in the beauty all around. Though it is cliche that Ithaca is Gorges, the gorges are breath-taking and a wonderful place to visit. On campus, there are plenty of different co-curricular options including many sports and clubs.
Great for these types of students I think that the curriculm is great for hands-on learners. I feel that most of what I have learned has engaged me in the learning, to promote greater knowledge.
Greek Life There is not a Greek Life on the Ithaca College campus, though there is across town at Cornell.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Ithaca is a better school than most, in my opinion! It is good for health careers, music (classical), and the communications department. Don't come here if you don't like the cold!
Tips for prospective students Search around to many different types of schools. If you are set on coming here, or are curious attend classes specific to your intended major. See if you can spend the night in a dorm, try the cafeteria food, and tour the campus!
Academic Rigor Depending on your major/classes taking this varies immensely. Some are easy, some you'll devote so much of your time to. Upper level science courses and production courses are great for learning! I was a photography and occupational therapy student.
Dorm Life This all depends on the friends you meet. I had a great time here, and felt like the socialization aspect of Ithaca was great. The actual dorms themselves leave something to be desired. Unless you live in Emerson, Garden/Circle Apartments, be prepared for disappointment.
Food and Dining The campus food isn't actually that bad here. It's better than most campuses. There are a lot of options Also, the dining in town is great! If you can, try and get out to the restaurants in town.
What to do for fun This all depends on the person. If you are into playing music, many students and locals look for musicians to jam with! There are also shows to go to, clubs, and anything at all with your friends! The bars and night life in town is not so good though.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Go to the gorges!
Great for these types of students Creative, intellectual, hippy?
Clubs and Activities Huge variety! Karate, Culinary Arts, Bisexuality Club, planning concerts, and many others!
Greek Life There is no greek life!
Campus Safety I always feel safe on this campus. Public safety is always around, and Ithaca is a generally safe area.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Ithaca College is a great place for people who are motivated about their education, but who also seek a relaxed, easy going environment. With tons of clubs, sports, activities, and a great downtown, there is always something going on here at IC. Ithaca College is one of the most accepting places I have ever been and is the perfect place for any type of person!
Tips for prospective students Make sure you look well-rounded. Ithaca College, just like any other college, is concerned about your academics, but they are also looking for someone who has a lot else to offer. Whether you play sports, are into music/theater, or just are really into clubs and being a leader, IC wants to see what else makes you, you!
What to do for fun Downtown, sporting events, campus events, Cornell events
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Textor Ball and our fountains are well known!
Great for these types of students Outdoorsy, sporty/fit, musical/theatrical, friendly
Greek Life None! A great part about IC!

Tips for prospective students be aware that ithaca does get cold. it also rains a lot more than i expected.
Academic Rigor academics is prized by ithaca students but it is not always the top priority. students do like to have fun too, on and off campus.
Dorm Life the dorms are really fun. the ra's are pretty relaxed and easy going if you follow the rules provided.
Food and Dining i'm not a fan of the dining hall food because i felt it was kind of repetitious but it is still good when it does change up.
What to do for fun going to the commons are a lot of fun. also hanging around on campus is fun too. there is a lot to do on campus
Bang for the buck ithaca is pricy, depending on your major it is worth your money. i wouldn't advise coming to ithaca for a degree in one of their majors that aren't as known as some.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus cortica is a huge event on campus. it is a biggest football game of all year, students are able to gather for this game and have a good time.
Great for these types of students artsy, outdoorsy, and people who don't mind the cold or rain.
