    Am learning a lot

There are wide range of classes to take at Lane. I was enrolled in a Human Sexuality class where I learned so many things that you really are not allowed to learn in high school. They covered every aspect of sexuality you could imagine. There are several different types of English classes, including fun classes. In one, you analyze the lyrics of Bob Dylan as poetry and literature. I took a Shakespeare class, and learned about his works in a different way than I did in high school. The professor was encouraging and funny.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is not too big, but still has space to make you feel like you are attending a college and not a high school. There are a variety of plants, sculptures, sitting areas, and different shaped buildings. It's a beautiful campus. Diversity is also huge, being that the school is in Eugene. All types of people attend the school, and it's fun to look at them and get to know them.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is tiny. Each class is less than 100$ on average, and some are only slightly higher. Also, I was able to get a fair amount of financial aid without having a high GPA and lots of extracurricular activities. I am going to be able to do one term of college for less than 2,000 dollars.

    Tips for prospective students

If you decide to attend Lane Community, be aware that the enrollment is at its highest ever. The parking is more crowded than usual, but these are small problems. One area that can be obnoxious is in building 1. You have to take a number to get any assistance, and many of the people who could be working an information window are not. It is sometimes hard to get help unless you are there really early.

Great for these types of students

Students who want a smaller school and have less money to spend would definitely like LCC. It's also great for a variety of majors. There are great art, literature, physical education, and science classes. Those who want certifications are 2 year degrees are ideal, because LCC offers those two. You can also transfer from LCC to a University. It makes it much easier and you are more likely to earn scholarships and grants to attend the more expensive school based on your time at Lane.

    Am learning a lot

I have been able to learn how to become a better parent at Lane by taking a few courses on early childhood education. I have also learned how to become a better writer and have been able to win one award for my high school because of the great writing teachers. I got third place and $300 because of it.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being at Lane Community College because it is a smaller college and I have been able to make friends and in turn have made some study buddies. Lane also has really good online classes that make it easy for me to be a mother and a student at the same time. My teachers have always been understanding if my daughter gets sick. They have always given me extra time to finish work if I am not able to get it in right away.

    Bang for the buck

Getting scholarships and loans for Lane Community College has been the easiest thing I have ever done. They make it easy by having an office just for getting money to pay for school!

    Tips for prospective students

Do your homework and always let your teacher's know ahead of time if you are not able to make it to class. If you have a child and want to be home with your child talk to your counselor and they will let them know that you would like to look into online classes. They are always happy to help!

Great for these types of students

Students who can not get into four year colleges.
Students who have not been able to graduate.
Students who are worried about being in a big school.
Students who have children that are infant to toddler age that they want to be near.
    Lane has a great daycare!!!!

lane community college is a great school with a hard working, friendly faculty that give personal attention to their students which is made easy by our smaller class sizes. also, lcc has a sustainable organic garden on campus, run by students and that is utilized by our culinary department and classes on sustainable living abound here because our community is so dedicated to green alternatives and options. our performing arts department is unsurpassed, with shows put on throughout the year by lcc's production company run entirely by students in the spa (student production association) plus jazz/classical/contemporary concerts and dance performances by both by students and faculty.

    Tips for prospective students

my suggestion to everyone starting at lcc is to utilize all the resources made available to you. we have bus passes paid for in our fees, a helpful financial aid dept., counseling dept. that can help you plan out your time at lane, access to an on campus health clinic also paid for in our fees, as well as free legal aid and many more services.

    Academic Rigor

my first time in community college wasn't like this, i feel challenged and i leave every term feeling like i have advanced my knowledge in the subjects i am studying, not like i have wasted my time. i feel that i make connections with my teachers and they themselves become resources in my life. so far not one moment in any class has left me bored, i am kept on my toes at every turn.

    Food and Dining

we have a culinary staff that is immpecible, and our services range from a fast food area, where people can grab that fast hot item or pull from the vending machines a plethura of things including healthy versions of the classic vending machine, a section of hot entrees like; fresh pizza out of the big oven, sushi made fresh in front of you, a deli with hot soup and made to order sandwiches, or the classic cafeteria style buffet. many choices, all of them good. the culinary students also get to show off their skills in our renaissance room set up for fine dining.

    What to do for fun

school is fun! there are plays and music performances, lots of clubs, chess tournaments, gardening, student lounges with a variety of activities going on.

    Bang for the buck

the classes at lcc are affordable and financial aid is there as well to help families and low income students.

    Am learning a lot

At LCC the opportunities and classes are great, I have learned alot of new information since beginning. My favorite class and most beneficial so far has been Effective Learning 115. This course taught me all sorts of different and new study habits and procrastination management. The other courses I have taken so far have been very informative so far.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy attending LCC, it's not too large and very convenient that they have a satelite campus where I live, I live 25 miles from their main campus. Being a smaller community college it has a more intimate feel than a major university, all my professors so far still recognize me in the hallways and stop to say hi and catch up.

    Bang for the buck

Like most community colleges, LCC is a great value for the price, at an average of right around $1300 per term, including books it feels like a great value. This price covers 4 classes.

    Tips for prospective students

For prospective students, I highly recomend the Effective Learning 115 course. It is a great introduction into study skill, time management, note taking and more. Just bear in mind that being a community college there will be alot of student straight out of high school that don't take their education seriously and can tend to be a distraction.

Great for these types of students

LCC is great for older students, lower income students and students looking for simple 2 year AAS degrees.

Lane Community College is very helpful. The college demonstrates the want to help students achieve their goals by providing resources that focus strictly on that goal. Lane Community is the best school in Oregon to get a jump start toward accomplishing goals for a greater future.

    Tips for prospective students

I would say the best tips for prospective students would be to start applying for scholarships and grants first. Even if you dont know what your major will be, at least you will have free money to start your prerequisites and to get your foot into college. Also if you don't have a clue what you want a degree in, start with the basic classes and get those out of the way and in the mean time be thinking about what career you would be good at.

    Academic Rigor

I don't know much about Lane Community's Academic success as I am a college freshman and I've never taken classes here before.

    Dorm Life

Lane Community doesn't have any options for dorms on campus. I think they should because the campus is in the middle of no where and it's really far to drive. With gas being so much right now, they should build dorms on campus for students who don't have a lot of financial means to drive that far to school everyday.

    Food and Dining

I've eaten once in Lane's cafeteria. Their food is excellent tasting and very cheap for students. The staff is very nice and the dining room is open and spacious with lots of windows overlooking the courtyard.

    What to do for fun

At Lane, there are a lot of activities and extra curricular activities to do on campus. For example, they have a lot of clubs and programs on campus like NASA( Native American Student Association). They also have activities like sports, choir, and programs like that.

    Bang for the buck

From what I've seen so far, Lane is less expensive than most schools i've researched.

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of clubs and Activities on Campus

    Campus Safety

From what I've seen, Lane has a pretty safe campus

    Did learn a lot

The instructors all give plenty of their time to answering student questions and making time for office hour visits.

    Did enjoy being here

The campus is made complete of concrete, which makes it seem rather foreboding at first, but academically it is pretty good.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition here is a third of what it costs to attend the university. The credits transfer well to most of the Oregon university system, so yes, great bang for the buck.

    Tips for prospective students

Join study groups, use the tutor center, don't be afraid to ask questions.

Great for these types of students

Lane is great for students planning to transfer to a four-year university to finish out they degree, for students wanting an Associates degree, or for students who want to be part of one of their technical schools, like welding or aviation maintenance.

    Am learning a lot

Quality teachers, classes and education. Great Nursing Program and Art Program. Helpful staff and aide offices.

    Am enjoying being here

Very helpful staff, free medical clinic for students, poor cafeteria food.

    Bang for the buck

Lane Community College offers you education that is equal to a University's for a fraction of the cost.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to all meetings and offices early in the morning. Lane is a very busy school! Offices open at 9am, be there a little before then or you'll be waiting for two or more hours. Also, parking is a pain. Get there early even if its just for a parking spot.

Great for these types of students

Great for all students from ANY demographic. All age, gender and ethnic groups are represented equally and no one stands out more than the next person. Great place full of accepting people.

    Am learning a lot

In every one of the classes I have taken at Lane, I have left the class feeling that I actually walked away with the proper knowledge on the subject that I should. The teachers are always willing to help make sure you understand the course work and there are a lot of helpful resources available.

This school offers a wide variety of times and days for classes, which is really helpful for me since I have to fit working into my schedule.

I feel that my tuition is being put to good use. Their library doesn't charge for printing. The teachers are knowledgable on what they are teaching. There are a lot of extra ways you can receive academic help.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for classes early because they fill up fast. Also, make sure to come to campus early because parking can be difficult.
