At Miami Dade College you have the ability to learn from professors of all different backgrounds, whom all share a passion for learning and are interested in the well being of their students.

    Am enjoying being here

I do in fact enjoy being a student at Miami Dade College, because I feel that they give you the choice to choose from a variety of campuses and teachers at your own convinience.

    Bang for the buck

The money is also a reason why MDC is an excellent choice, here you pay little and learn alot.

    Tips for prospective students

My one and only tip for prospective students is that if you do apply to MDC and are eligible for their HONOR COLLEGE program please apply, because I am part of the HC and it was the best choice I have ever made.

I am actuallly fascinated by the classes here. I am taking classes such as The Social Enviornment, Psychology of Personal Effectiveness, Etc. Miami Dade has so many helpful attributes. For example Math Lab, Reading Lab, Writing Lab, Tutors, Lots of places to sit and do homeworks, a huge computer lab, and an amazing array of teachers.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy going to school at Miami-Dade, it lets me work and go to school and not miss a beat on my chores at home. Sometimes it can be overwhelming with homework, work, and home/family duties but its worth it!

    Bang for the buck

I believe my money is well spent at Miami-Dade. There is always something I can do. I don't have a car so when i'm at Miami-Dade I have to make sure I get things done. If I don't have homework or anything otherwise academic to do I can go to the library, or the gym, or even the swimming pool. It's a low key school and every dollar was well spent.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't procrastinate, make your time at Miami-Dade everything your High School Academic Career wasn't and a great University will be waiting for you!

Great for these types of students

Students who had a low GPA in highschool and are hoping to put forth more effort in college.

    Did enjoy being here

The only aspect of Miami Dade that was enjoyable was the fact that showing up to class is optional 90% of the time. So, you can easily get other things done with your life.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for the honors college! I wish I would have known it existed before hand. The students in the honors program receive full tuition including books. They get extreme VIP treatment. It is obviously more enduring than the regular classes, but so much more worth it. If you're not honors college material then just sit back & relax because this school is just a two-year extension of high school.

Great for these types of students

Lazy & looking to catch a break for two years? Well then, Miami Dade is just the place for you! It's also great for anyone currently working a full-time job. And also, for anyone that is continuing there education after a long hiatus. If you have school spirit and are interested in participating in school events then this is NOT the school for you.

I have been attending Miami Dade for a year and a half and am very satisfied and have learned a lot through out my semesters attending. Teachers here at Miami Dade are good and are very helpful. Miami Dade also has many labs that offer help ans assistance, for instance the 'Math Lab' which has teachers there that offer their help free and is what helped me get through both my math courses.

    Am enjoying being here

There isnt much to enjoy when it comes to school but here at Miami Dade I have no complaints and am enjoying my college years so far. the atmosphere is nothing major or distracting, its just come to class, learn, and leave.

    Bang for the buck

Definitly is the best for student tight on money. The amount per credits is unbeatable and worth the money. Can not complain with the cost's at Dade they are very descent and affordable for everyone.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective student should register early for classes so that you choose the ones you want because classes go by super quick and are filled up day-by-day.

Great for these types of students

Students who want to finish school quickly and affordable.

At Miami Dade College, I have been lucky enough to have the top-notch Professors who are there to teach students to and I don't mean by just memorizing information for a test and then forgetting it the moment you walk out. Professors make sure you know the material by providing power point hand outs, study guides and test reviews, and allowing you to visit them in their office during their corresponding hours. Teachers take the time to help you understand the material before moving on to another chapter and really focus on YOU! Professors want you to take the information you learned in their class and apply it to your life outside of the classroom.

    Am enjoying being here

As an Honors College Student at Miami Dade College, I feel that teachers become part of our family. We go to them for help with school, advice on transferring and just to talk about whatever is on our mind. I have also become very involved in different clubs and organizations where i get to meet different people and really network and establish friendships. Miami Dade has a very comforting environment and a lot of places to study. You can enjoy the quiet setting of a library, browse and search the web in the computer courtyard or just sit outside on a table, pull out your books and study under the sunlight while experiencing the cool shade of the trees.

    Bang for the buck

Miami Dade College is not expensive to begin with and either way, there is financial aid offered. Most people attending Miami Dade college receive financial aid assistance or get a loan from Miami Dade and create a payment plan in order to pay it off. Unfortunately, I am biased in this area because as a Miami Dade Honors College Student, everything is paid for so there are no worries in that aspect. You're allowed to take as many classes as you want (and pass them of course) without any worries of having the sufficient funds to pay the tuition and any other fees. Either way, you're getting what you pay for - if not more at Miami Dade College!

    Tips for prospective students

Take advantage of all the different opportunities Miami Dade College has to offer. Apply for the different Study Abroad programs, get involved in different clubs and organizations and establish a relationship with ALL of your professors, whether you like them or not. Don't sell yourself short and think oh, this is just Miami-Dade because it is a great stepping stone to start your path onto success and there are so many people that are willing to help you and guide you along the way! Take advantage of what you have at Miami Dade while you're there.

Great for these types of students

Miami Dade College has something for EVERY type of student out there, you just have to ask! Seek and you shall find. Here at Miami Dade, there is such a variety of students that everyone has a place to fit in.
SIDE NOTE: Students who are extra studious, want to challenge themselves, like smaller class sizes and have a weighted high school GPA of a 3.7 or higher, or a college GPA of a 3.5 and above - should consider applying to the Honors College! It is a fantastic program and has opened my doors in countless ways! Don't be afraid to APPLY!

The professors at Miami Dade College are great! Every professor i've had for the past four semesters have been amazing. Ive learned so much about myself through these teachers and im so glad to have been able to sit in their classrooms. They really do care and want you to pass their class

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is huge and there is so many places to relax and do your work. There are many people on campus to help you with whatever you may need: questions, advice and tutoring.

    Bang for the buck

As an in-state student the cost for classes are not a huge dent in you pocket like many of the other universities in the area. Some classes are more expensive then others but the cost is a million times better then most schools.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not be procrastinators about picking your classes. Even if it may be a pain to try to pick your classes whether you go to student services or sign up online always try to get your classes the first week they open up. That way you can get the schedule you want and find the best teacher through Ratemyprofessor.com.
Also If you have decided what your majoring in, go to the main department in which your major falls in. You will find out what classes you must take for your major during each semester, if not you could fall behind because some classes can only be taken during certain semesters

Teachers are very educated and are always willing to help you out when school work/homework get to difficult. As a freshman at Miami Dade College- Wolfson Campus I have become a more independent and strong student. With all the cultural diversity at hand I have learned to interact with people from all over the world! Everyday is a new and exciting day.

    Am enjoying being here

With Wolfson Campus located right at the heart of Downtown Miami I have accessible transportation. Such as the Metro-Mover, Metro-Rail , Metro-Bus. Not forget how close I am just three minutes away from The American Airlines Arena and the famous social hangout Bayside.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely 100% bang for the buck. Credits per semester is half the price from a University. Computer labs open daily for students and a library. Lunch time is the best because there is a McDonald's from across the campus and a food service area within the campus. Must I admit the food is high quality and cheap! Oh! My favorite gym-membership is only $30/mo and you are not restricted to one gym but can go to any in the Miami Dade College campus's...Great way to meet new people.

    Tips for prospective students

-Register for classes early! They get filled really fast.

-Don't be afraid to take a mini-term or accelerated course. It is a great way to accumulate credits. Just make sure you are on top of game, so you won't put your GPA in danger.

-If books are to expensive don't buy. Instead rent or check out the school library and print the pages for term.

-Do have small talk with people in class. Comes in very hand when absent or studying for midterms/finals.

Great for these types of students

Miami Dade College is great for anyone who wishes to pursue a lifelong career. From a certificate for Medical Assistant to a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. There are options for everyone not just for the studious of the studious students.

The professors at Miami Dade College are very knowledgebale in their respective fields. Even though some students may not like their professors, it does not change the quality of learning, which is excellent. True, there are some professors that are not great, but otherwise, always do your research on your potential professor, you may never know when that particular professor will be your friend in college.

    Am enjoying being here

I do enjoy being here! I love the location especially! The location of Miami Dade College is GREAT!!! Especially Wolfson Campus! It is located within Downtown Miami. There are shops around the area, stores, and plenty of restaurants. Each day, there is always an event going on at Miami Dade College-Wolfson Campus.

    Bang for the buck

Miami Dade College is truly your bang for the buck! I have spent two years at Miami Dade College debt-free! The Pell Grant covers all of the tuition at Miami Dade College. The education and the cheaper tuition goes well together!

    Tips for prospective students

There are several tips for prospective students:
1.) APPLY, APPLY, APPLY! Miami Dade is the gateway to more schools and opportunities.
2.) DO NOT TRANSFER without the Associate of Arts Degree. It is very important. You save two years worth of tuition, and you can avoid all the hassles of transferring without one.
3.) MEET with YOUR ADVISOR! This is very important. Especially if you want to complete your AA Degree on time.
4.) ALWAYS pay ATTENTION to YOUR G.P.A! The reason why is because if you do not do well in your class, your G.P.A. will drop. College G.P.A is not like a high school G.P.A where if a failing grade was received, your G.P.A. remained at a 3.4. Once YOUR G.P.A. drops, it is very hard to bring it up. There is also a risk of losing Financial Aid due to a low G.P.A. Financial Aid reviews your G.P.A. and credit completion requirements every year for Standards of Academic Progress.
5.) ALWAYS APPLY for FINANCIAL AID EVERY YEAR! It is very important to do so. Without financial aid, your classes WILL BE DROPPED!
6.) ALWAYS keep abreast of the new rules and changes at Miami Dade College. Especially with Financial Aid. Many people tend to forget that just because you are receiving money that does not need to be paid back, does NOT mean that you should go on a Financial Aid SHOPPING SPREE!
7.) Make sure that you REGISTER FOR CLASSES IN ADVANCE! Seats tend to fill up very quickly during peak registration times.
8.) If anything, always know that there are tutoring centers to help you.
9.) Have fun at Miami Dade College! The first two years are important.

Great for these types of students

Miami Dade College is great for these types of students:
1.)Students who want to transfer to a particular college.
2.)Students who want to stay closer to home.
3.)Students who want a quality education for a good value.
4.)Students who want to go into the Honors program at Miami Dade College.
5.) Students who want to experience new things while in college.
6.) Students who truly exemplify Miami Dade College's motto of Opportunity does changes everything

Oh boy do you learn at this school. Every professor is diverse and has an interesting way of teaching you. I've taken about 10 classes and have learned in every single one of them. The work at times can be challenging but hey you’re in college. If you take the time and focus you can learn a lot.

    Am enjoying being here

Well it all depends on the type of person you are but this college is quit enjoyable. They have a lot of campus activities that goes on. The biggest being the Book Fair which is BIG don’t get it twisted. Plus when you’re in the Wolfson campus you’re in downtown Miami. That means shopping, Bayside, exploring, shops beyond shops, buses that can take you to South Beach or Aventura Mall and more. Plus the campus is attempting to expand so with time I hope it gets better. There’s always an activity or event going on for everything that goes on.

    Bang for the buck

Umm there financial aid is stacking the money. But a warning/notice please be a saver more than a spender (or at least save for a rainy day or the future – it may look nice now but what happens when it runs out). But as for the college being worth what you pay for yes it’s a go. Not too much, but the amount you learn and things you get does makes it a yes.

    Tips for prospective students

Listen and listen closely. I'm not trying to discourage you but to give you a warning and advice. This may also apply to other colleges.
    1) Get your financial aid done in advance. (Can’t believe how many people wait until the last minute - the finaid line is LONG on those days) Make a copy of the taxes that need copy (make 2 in case some how it magically gets lost) Bring all the documents needed in advance (I cannot stress the importance of copies) get advice from the adults at finaid if it looks teenish don’t go to them if it’s a serious question, be patient it'll come in, get a ticket in advance cause the wait time is *fun* (that way you can do other things-but pop in to make sure your number wasn’t called), always check your status online and in person.
    2) Get a planner or turn your phone into one with alerts in advance not the day of (for projects and homework assignments)
    3) Go to the advisers if you’re not sure what classes to take (don't wanna waste your time now)
    4) Pick the right teachers
    5) Make sure you make your schedule when it’s time that way you'll get the class time you want and the professor (once again last minute is not the way to go - though it works for some people)
    6) Have fun

Great for these types of students

    Any one actually
It's so diverse it's not even funny
Diverse in personality, nationality, language, just name it.

Most of the professors at MDC show remarkable interest in their students’ academic progression, the likes of which I haven’t seen in my high school years. I come to a specific class with the understanding that all topics discussed are relevant to the subject, and I’m not disappointed with the results. MDC professors show excellent procedures that help students learn, and are people that you most often than not are easily relatable with. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a professor who laughs along with students and offers their own opinions in subject matters, which offer a calming experience for students who want to learn as much as they can. There are times when maybe topics can go out of educational focus, but these instances are just that: instances. Along with their constant reminders to study, learning can be a mind-opening experience thanks to MDC professors, as they support students amidst the uncertainty a subject may have at first glance.

    Am enjoying being here

MDC offers very comforting environments, backed up by the fact that it has several campuses situated in different locations in Florida. Learning environments are respected and maintained by staff and student participation alike, and facilities such as computer courtyards offer good programs that the average student would find himself or herself in need of. Calm facilities such as libraries maintain a low-key atmosphere for optimum concentration, something I’ve always loved about this school. The staff is always willing to help in anyway; I’ve never had a problem with them in my first year. Upon coming to MDC in my first year I was very surprised at how different the atmosphere was in comparison to high school. Everyone including the students is respectful to each other, akin to the growing professionalism college students should maintain. The best aspect of this college is the vast choices of schedules that you can select from, which help me work around out-of-school situations with conflicting schedules. Facilities are maintained as tidy as possible, and cleanliness is one of my top necessities when choosing a campus. In essence, MDC is as chill as can be, and I’m never irritated at all coming here!

    Bang for the buck

In-state tuition can help a lot; MDC offers classes that can be as low as $300 each! For someone of low income like myself, this helps a lot considering that money can be lacking and I'd normally never be able to pay for college classes. Backing this up is financial aid procedures that MDC offices are glad to help with, further increasing your options for payment of classes that offer so much for the average student. I pay for college classes to learn and enjoy my time doing so, and that's exactly what I get for a college that offers so many events, clubs, and options concerning your educational experience.

    Tips for prospective students

For all students coming to MDC: enjoy yourself and maintain focus during your time here. College isn't meant to be a distressing experience so long as you keep track of everything you need to handle. I made the mistake of scrambling around my first year because of my lack of knowledge of admission and payments, so you should definitely prepare for everything that MDC can ask for, class or otherwise.

Great for these types of students

Pretty much everyone. MDC has a wide variety of different student types that seem to be compatible with the school itself. I enjoy this variety very much, and it's one of the greatest things about MDC; anyone can come and enjoy their experiences here.

Many teachers, so far, like to go off on tangents while teaching while others actually take the time out to personally help students. Of the teachers I've had, they all want me to leave with this fabricated-movie-life-changing experience, and though there is nothing wrong with that, they fashion their teachings styles around.

    Am enjoying being here

Because it's so close to home, I am ready to go! I want to go off to a 4 year university after I receive my A.A. and experience the real college experience while still striving for my post-secondary completion. There is a lot to do around and in Miami, but I was born and raised here and am ready for something different.

    Bang for the buck

Since it's a junior college, it's not as expensive as a college, or university, and fairly affordable. I don't receive financial aid and the books required for class are steep when you absolutely need a new one.

    Tips for prospective students

Great college and you will learn a lot, there are things to get involved in and around the school and it will be a good starting place for currently, unfocused, high school student.

Miami Dade College is ideal for the person who doesn't have the money to attend a 4 year university right off the bat. You will get the same exact education just for a lower price! It's pretty simple.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are planning to attend a 4 year university you can take your prerequisites and basic courses at Miami Dade College for a cheaper price then transfer them to your preferred 4 year university. Definitely check out the option because it will save you a lot of money.

miami dade college is constantly buzzing with life and excitement, and the dull moments are always far from one another. though considered by many to be simple and under-rated, the professors are helpful and attempt to lay a base foundation for those who plan to continue their studies. time passes quickly from one semester to the other and you'll be looking back soon realizing how fast it was.

    Tips for prospective students

challenge yourself and do well. for those who wish to finish faster, invest in clep testing.

    Academic Rigor

    academic rigor is very nice.

    Dorm Life

have not had the chance to experience dorm life due to lack of dorm facilities. there are dorms scheduled to be constructed, but that is about it so far.

miami dade is encouraging to students. they are caring and passionate. the school itself is diverse and fun.

    Tips for prospective students

when i was a prospective student they helped me out. the advisers guided me all the way through, and i had no problem.

    Academic Rigor

i do believe that most of the professors that work for miami dade do care about the students and put time and effort into their jobs.

    Dorm Life

there is no dorm life in miami dade at least not at the campus i attend (homestead). but i don't think any of them do.

    Food and Dining

the cafeteria on the homestead campus is small, but the food is pretty good. but the school is located in the heart of downtown homestead so there is a lot to choose from, outside of the school.

    What to do for fun

on the homestead campus they seem to find any reason to have a party. a lot of the time they have games, competitions, and activities for us to do. they also have several clubs. as well as student life which has many games and activities. also sports.

    Bang for the buck

miami dade is good when it come to its bang for the buck. but unfortunately financial aid isn't the greatest and they are a bit unorganized. i am unable to get any financial aid help, which is why i apply to scholarships.

    Campus Safety

as small as it may seem for most students, and most don't realize it, security is a big part. i personally think that miami dade is great when it comes to safety. security is always patrolling, and if you need them to walk with you they will. they have a whole department and you can go there anytime if you need them.

miami dade college has good teachers always willing to help you.
have a lot of opportunities, every student with an aa degree can transfer to another university without problems and save about half of the tuition by doing dual enrollment at mdc and the university of your choice.
have a good reputation, even thought that is a community college.

    Tips for prospective students

miami dade doesn't feel like you're actually in college or an university, it basically feels like an extended 13th grade more or less.
it's affordable, and as long as you are willing to push yourself and learn then you will have a great experience.

    What to do for fun

they do a lot of activities in every campus, they have theaters plays, ruffles, bbq, fundraising, etc.

    Am learning a lot

The school environment, overall, is very flexible and like all schools depends on what teacher you get that depends on how much you learn. Basically if you read the material, youll learn alot on your own as well.

    Am enjoying being here

Overall with flexible schedules and average sized campus' I've enjoyed my time here and have met lots of new people.

    Bang for the buck

For more bang for my buck I would definitely say that MDC was my top choice. Classes are not as expensive and financial aid helps a lot.

    Tips for prospective students

Get your classes early, show up to class, and ask ahead whether or not you need to buy the book.

Great for these types of students

Great for older students, teachers are very interactive and some are very friendly. Also good for students who like to learn and not have to pay as much for it.

    Am learning a lot

Although I cannot deny that I have met some great professors, Miami Dade College is not somewhere you want to be unless you are obligated to be there. The majority of the people in the advisement center are useless and provide no assistance. In addition, a lot of the student employees are incompetent or are not certain of what they are doing. A lot of the staff and faculty (with the exception of some teachers I have had the honor of encountering) seem to be as miserable as the students and do not seem to put any effort or care into what they do. There is also a lack of social diversity and programs are limited. The motive for this is that generally, the same type of students attend this college and also because students all have the same intention: to transfer. This is why they are mainly focused on going into their classes and returning home, leaving little time or desire for social interaction.

    Am enjoying being here

I have been rather miserable for my duration at Miami Dade College. I will be transferring to the University of Miami in the fall and I could not be more joyful and relieved.

    Bang for the buck

Sincerely, the money that you will spend here IS much less than what you would spend at a four-year university, but it is not worth it. What you will benefit from attending a junior college, though, is that you can earn some good scholarships as a transfer student. The fact that you apply as a transfer student with a high GPA and a good academic record (as well as on-campus activities) is viewed as the student's display of determination and effort.

    Tips for prospective students

Just hang on until you are able to transfer, earn good grades, and even if it is a junior college, take it seriously. I would also recommend joining Phi Theta Kappa Academic Honor Society or the Honors College. It looks good on your college resume and can provide aid on your application to transfer to a four-year university. This is just my opinion, though. Someone else could really enjoy attending this school. Or not. Ha ha. Oh, also apply for the FAFSA to receive financial aid, even if you believe you are not eligible.

Great for these types of students

International students, people returning to their education after being absent from school for a lengthy period of time, people who cannot afford to attend a four-year university.

    Did learn a lot

Miami-Dade is a great school to bridge the transition between High School and College for those who aren't sure what to do next or those who would like some more time to boost their academics. However it is at a fundamental level in it's academics and does not provide a very challenging environment due to the wide range of individuals at the school and the necessity to teach to the lowest common denominator.

    Did enjoy being here

It was surely a nice experience as far as a college close to home goes, but since this is a commuter college and most of the people there are busy with their lives, jobs and classes it is not much of a social experience. If you like going to class and then straight home this is the college for you, but if you are like me and need a social environment as well as an academic one this college is not the best choice.

    Bang for the buck

Even with the social and academic gaps that this school has, it is extremely cheap since tuition is inexpensive and there is no room and board since it is a local college. Also a lot of the classes don't really require that you buy a book or have books under the $100 range which ads to it's affordability.

    Tips for prospective students

-If you are a social person planning to go to this school make sure you have friends from High School living in Miami.
-If you are someone who needs to be academically challenged make sure you apply for the honors college and take high level classes or otherwise you'll find yourself bored in class.
Take advantage of the low tuition cost to take the classes that would be more expensive after you transfer out.
-Finally MDC takes a lot of your AP classes so make sure you take the tests even if you think you will only get a 3.

Great for these types of students

Great if you are a low income student who needs more time figuring out what you want to do but don't want to take time off of school. Also great for students who have jobs or other responsibilities in Miami and have little time to study.

    Bang for the buck

MDC is definitely the best bang for you buck. Everyone applies to the more expensive Universities in Miami, but you receive the same education by attending Dade if you cannot afford to attend the private universities. FIU is a disaster and thats with experience from my girlfriend who attends. She cannot wait to graduate to get out of there. Yet, everyone who wants to stay local after high school applies and hopes to get in there. I dont see why when Miami Dade College has multiple campuses around Miami Dade County while FIU has two but the main one where all the classes take place only counts as one. MDC professors are extraordinary and they make me want to learn. They motivate me to do something great with my life.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be scared that MDC is a college or was a community college. MDC is the or better education wise as FIU or any university in Dade County. Apply to MDC and you will get access to multiple campuses no matter where you live. You will also get your classes for a steal and you will pocket mom for you every day college expenses such as books, supplies, gas for you car, rent for you apartment and much more. If you go to FIU you will likely go broke if youre living on your own.

Most teachers are wonderful and willing to work with the students. You are allowed plenty of time to do assignments which are both engaging and fun.

    Am enjoying being here

It is Miami! The location of the Wolfson campus is wonderful because it is in downtown. There are always events occuring for students/young folk.

    Bang for the buck

It is wonderfully cheap for Florida residents. Admissions is also very simple.

    Tips for prospective students

Join the Honors College if you really wish to challenge yourself and make the most of your future. Though it is competitive to be accepted, it is well worth it.

Great for these types of students

It is great for all types of students - young or old. No matter what your situation they can and will work with you (if you are working, short on money, or have begun raising a family).

Miami Dade College is on a universal level of education. It is a college that has much to offer in diversity as well as careers. In regard, I am able to not only expand my knowledge in my field of choice, but also learn more about other careers as well. As a result, I am more apt to choosing a career that better suits my interests and challenges my mind.

    Am enjoying being here

Miami Dade College,Homestead Campus,is a very lively and exciting college. Everyday there are multiple events being held on and off campus, which allows students to interact with each other in a positive and beneficial matter. The events held at Miami Dade encourages more students to be interdependent and also more aware of community and global events.

    Bang for the buck

Miami Dade college is definitely worth your time and patience. The faculty and staff are very welcoming and warm, as well as open-minded and well rounded. Everyday is a completely new day at Miami Dade, because you never know what you will learn or in what way.

    Tips for prospective students

In my opinion, unlike a majority of my peers, there is way more positive to Miami Dade then negative. It may be a small campus, but that doesn't take away from it's vast programs, scholarships, friendships, and career opportunities that it has to offer. If you welcome Miami Dade with open arms, it will do the same for you.

Every experience from academic to extracurricular activities includes at least 3 of the 10 Learning Outcomes that are required to be incorporated in all of the Miami Dade College events. These outcomes stretch between global and environmental awareness and communication effectiveness that are of great necessity in personal and professional development. At Miami Dade College, I am definitely learning beyond the classroom.

    Am enjoying being here

I am definitely enjoying my all around experience here at Miami Dade. There are always a great variety of educational and entertaining events constantly taking place on campus. There is even a specific time at 12 in the afternoon every Wednesday called Activity Hour where no classes over-lap for that hour just for the students and their enjoyment in the many Student Life Association events and fun social programs.

    Bang for the buck

Miami Dade College is extremely affordable and the quality of education attainable is superb. The class sizes never exceed over 50 students for the general courses, and all professors are required to have office hours where students can see them in their private office to speak about academics and anything else they may need. Tuition is less expensive than a state university and allows opportunity for a closer student-professor relationship through smaller class sizes. Furthermore, the opportunities for networking, community service, and many forms of further involvement beyond academics is easily accessible through clubs, organizations and honor societies at Miami Dade College.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are interested in applying to Miami Dade College, also apply for the Honors College at Miami Dade. They have one of the most prestigious Honors Colleges in the nation, and as a personal member of the Honors College, I can tell you it was the best decision I ever made. The Honors College further amplifies all of the amazing opportunities attainable at Miami Dade College with an exclusive social network and the inevitable relationship the Honors College members have with each other.

Great for these types of students

A few clubs and organizations I recommend are Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, community service involvement, Biology Club, Youth for Environmental Sustainability (Y.E.S.) Club, Students Working for Equal Rights (S.W.E.R.) Club, The Neighborhood Global Initiative(T.G.N.I.), Phi Beta Lamda Honor Society, and so many more available associated to your specific field of study.

This school is amazing! You really learn and all the faculty is so nice. You feel as if they are really helping you reach your goal. The teachers are so kind, they really try to help students in and out of class. Many of my teachers have provided office hours where the students can go and ask them questions. It feels as if they are always there for us.

    Am enjoying being here

I am enjoying very much attending Miami Dade. My teachers really try to help out the students and make sure they pass the class with decent grades. The only way a student can't pass a class is if they are not taking it seriously.

    Bang for the buck

This is the best education for the price you pay! It's unbelievable that it's so cheap compared to other colleges, and I mean why pay more some other place when you can get the same education for a better price?! Not only that but with MDC you have the advantage of having more than one campus, so when a class is not available in one you can always go to the next nearest campus.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't start college thinking that it is going to be like High School! Go head on and be very dedicated, set high goals so you can achieve them. College is no joke! Study hard and you WILL see inspiring results!

Miami Dade College is a great starting point for higher education. MDC saves you money, hassle, and time. Get the same prerequisite classes at a university for a fraction of the cost, but with the same level of experience!

    Tips for prospective students

I urge prospective students to get the financial aid information straightened out quickly, so you can select the courses you want before they run out of space. I also suggest to try out different time schedules throughout your time at MDC, so you can accurately decide which time is right for your lifestyle.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging but it is attainable to receive an A. They also provide abundant opportunities for learning and student growth. None of the classes are a waste of time because you always learn something important from each one.

    Dorm Life

Unfortunately, Miami Dade College does not have dorm facilities.

    Food and Dining

In any of the eight campuses of MDC there are different events. They offer plays, exciting music outside and food truck vending, restaurants, and the historic Wolfsonian Museum to name a few.

Miami Dade College really is less expensive than the average college or university. What is really great is that if someone has a lot of scholarships (like many do at MDC), they get refunded the money that was not used for their tuition. So, you get money back AND you get the same classes - it's a win-win situation.

Great for these types of students

Students who live in Miami or want to save money while still progressing towards their bachelor's degree should try Miami Dade College. The Honors College in MDC is also a very prestigious program for only the best and most hard-working students. Those students receive many benefits from being in the Honors College, from have free tuition to being accepted into the top rated universities in the nation. If you want to go far, the Honors College is the perfect starting point.

Wide range of campuses and majors. Many interesting events and places both on campus and nearby. If you are a dedicated student, most classes aren't difficult and the teachers make it fun to learn.

    Tips for prospective students

Sign up for classes as soon as the last semester ends or they fill up quickly. Make sure to triple check that all your paperwork is in and verified. Keep on top of your Tuition and Financial Aid, the wait for loans is long and if you get behind you may end up skipping a semester to make up the payments.

    Academic Rigor

Miami Dade College started as a Community College, so the classes they offer aren't extremely difficult. That doesn't mean they are easy either. You have to keep up to date on your assignments and study your notes at least once weekly for the average class to make an excellent grade.

    Dorm Life

There is no on campus housing for student offered by Miami Dade College.

    Food and Dining

At almost any campus of Miami Dade College there are a wide variety of types and prices of food and restaurants nearby. Wolfson Campus for example is only 2 blocks away from Bayside Marketplace.

Beautiful campuses, amazing professors, extremely diverse student body, and the most value of education you'll get for your money. Seriously, it's ridiculously cheap for the great education they provide.

    Tips for prospective students

Since it's such a large college, with over 174,000 students throughout 8 campuses, it's pretty easy to get overwhelmed. In order to avoid this, join a club or the SGA. You will meet new people, make new friends, and go to events and places that will always keep your interest.

    Academic Rigor

College life is not high school anymore. Time for exuses are over, and you won't have a professor telling you what to do all the time. For this, the academic rigor is fairly high. But if you're the kind of student that doesn't like to miss classes, writes good notes, and are able to ask the professor questions when in doubt, you'll get your A. The Faculty are very helpful and will answer any question.

    Dorm Life

We don't have dorms, that's one of the reasons why the tuition is so cheap. Since I have to rate the dorm life though, I'll give it a 5 star since you'll most probably be living in the comfort of your own house!

    Food and Dining

Since we don't have dorms, we don't have the normal cafeteria like most other colleges and universities do. But we do have Cafe/Snack bars in every campus that are always serving something new. And since our student body is so diverse, they change their menus according to different countries' cooking style. However, you will still always find your simple/classic food like pizza, snack wraps, and more. Additionally, if you attend Wolfson Campus (which is in Downtown) you'll be able to experience dozens more restaurants of any culture, and if you're up for some relax time, stop by Bayside which is a block away and enjoy the bay, the seagulls, and the wonderful ocean breeze! Talk about a dining experience!

    What to do for fun

Near every campus there are tons of things to do. From going to the beach, to a water park, to bowling, to ice skating, there's always something. Plus, we have the American Airlines Arena, The Adrienne Arsht Center, and many more places right next to Wolfson Campus that provide you with plays, concerts, movies, shows, basketball games, and more! Everything is right at your fingertips.

    Bang for the buck

Again, the tution is incredibly cheap - less than $80 per credit for in-state students, and less than $300 per credit for out-of-state students. In all it turns out to around $1,300 for in-state per semester, and $2,500 for out-of-state per semester. Cheap, right? And the education you will be getting here is far more than what you'll pay for. Great courses, great professors, great books.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

All of our 8 campuses have different unique events and locations. It will be up to you to discover them, or even create one yourself!

Great for these types of students

MDC is great for anyone who wants to get a great education, have all the perks of a large college, yet is short on the money, or just simply doesn't want to pay so much for an education. Whichever your social status may be though, you'll find something made especially for you.

    Clubs and Activities

There are activities and clubs of every kind here at MDC. From the arts, to the sciences, to law. It's a great idea to join SAPB and/or SGA though. The first one is the in charge of creating most events that happen on campus, and the second one is great if you want to make the campus a better place by implementing laws, regualtions, etc. In any case, amongst the huge variety of clubs we have on each campus, if you can't find a club you're interested in, you can always create one as long as you have 5 people to participate with you.

    Greek Life

We don't have one. The closest thing we get to a Greek Life is Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), which is the honor society. In order to join you must have a 3.5 GPA. Which by the way, I encourage you to join. After graduating from the college and being a member of PTK, you will be most likely receiving some sort of scholarship for your academic accomplishments. Plus, PTK does events all year long, and even travels! It's a good deal.

    Campus Safety

In all the time I've lived near Miami Dade College, plus the years that I've attended the school, nothing serious ever came up. We do, however, live in a touristic city. So as long as you're not wandering off late at night alone, you'll be safe.

Try not to smoke in the Kendall campus, it is prohibited inside the campus even though people still do it; no one wants to go to class smelling like a tobacco shop. Also, I suggest that you come at least an hour early to the campus because parking can be difficult during 8am- 9am.

    Academic Rigor

Overall, the professors in Miami Dade are well educated and if your lucky enough you meet that one professor who could really expand your horizons and really tell you the truth about things. Hence, professor Sandra Castillo who informed us about the foods we put into our bodies, YIKES.

The coffee shop in the Kendall Campus is pretty good they sell coffee of course, and pastelitos and sandwiches. There is also a pool table in the back and a lot of seating, although it is overpriced. The food in the cafeteria is rather good especially the home style chicken sandwich but once again overpriced. So try not to eat at school everyday.

miami dade college is manageable college for freshmen students and students who are still learning to adjust to the college lifestyle. it is also a good school to start out to get a feel of what you'd expect on a college campus (community or university). just make sure you are prepared for registration when you start college and stay on top of upcoming class registrations because classes fill up fast.

    Tips for prospective students

enjoy your college experience and make the most of it. have fun but also stay focus on your studies and work assignments. don't try and take advantage of your kindhearted professors ^_^, but also be respectful at all time and keep personal drama to a minimum and never bring it to your school because policemen are present everyday and at all times.

    Academic Rigor

    Food and Dining

the food is warming and worth it. there are different varieties to choose from and it all prepared fresh and in front of you. the only problem with the food and dining area is the different prices that they charge but worth it if you got the money to pay for what you want.

    What to do for fun

their are various activities to do within the campus. but most of the action is in the game room and on the ground of the campus. its more enjoyable when your having fum with friends.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to succeed in this college you have to put in the time and effort. I know what it is like to have a job and be going to school at the same time, but you have to be sure to prioritize. The biggest mistake you will make is taking a backseat to your education because you think that this college is easy. You will be surprised at the quality of education you get here.

    Academic Rigor

Do not let deadlines sneak up on you. Most professors will tell you what assignments you need to and when they are due, but some you have to ask because they are seeing where the course is headed. Be sure to talk to the professors you will take and ask advisors which professor is worth it for whichever class you need to take. This is college, and the last thing you want is to be taking Calculus with a professor who can not pronounce the word Math.

    Food and Dining

Surprisingly the cafeteria has good food. They always make it to order and it has flavor. The Koffeehouse has the typical Hispanic breakfast items, and they are done so well that it is worth the small walk there.

I really am learning a lot at Dade. Of course, you cannot expect to have things easy, so study the materail constantly, review your notes, take usefull notes, and don't be affriad to ask questions (it'll help with studying). I'm a science nerd so I do pay attention so I don't mind studying, but this term I'm taking American History, which I don't like at all so I have to manage study time with work.

I was originally going to another university until my financial aid was taken away so I ended up at Miami Dade. It really isnt that bad as other students say. You're there to study and continue off to another university to progress at what you want as a career and thats the way I look at it. As long as you work hard and do what you have to do, you'll be graduating before you know it.

    Bang for the buck

Ok, college isn't cheap. People thinkn that Dade is cheap; however, it is reasonable for 4 classes at about 1200 (not books included). Sure other schools are charging a fortune for a class, but it is enough to at least get started and save up for other terms and transfering schools.

    Tips for prospective students

Study, seriously. I read a ton of study reviews from students and thought it was no big deal until my first class. Yes study, if you plan to pass the class. Oh and keep up with your financial aid, papers, and documents. Trust me, no one is on you about the problems that you have without them telling you.

It is great for students that don't have a lot of money to spend on college, and for students who are willing to transfer to another college after their first two years.

The teachers here help you pass. They want you to pass, and they all try everything in their power to make you pass. If you fail here it is because you didn't want to come to class, or you just didn't pay attention in class.

I love it here, there is something new all the time. Every week or every other week there is some kind of event going on free for the students and a lot of fun with you or the club that you are a part of.

Campus life is great, very enjoyable people to b around.

The amount isn't a lot compared to other universities that just love to pile on the money for every credit and with financial aide, it should help pay off a big chunk.

    Tips for prospective students

You are going to enjoy and get used to your campus or probably various campuses depending where you take your classes. This a community college so chances are you'll already know some people from your high school days or even before that.

Great for these types of students

A straightforward education that'll help you with your goal later in life, they make these classes cheap and the professors are just great all around.

    Am learning a lot

I am actually learning more than I did in high school. Professors at MDC come from diverse backgrounds and have worked in their field for several years which makes it even more interesting because you can learn from real life situations, not just from the book. They actually teach you the material and are concerned with your progress.

    Am enjoying being here

I am enjoying it here because you get to meet several people from diverse backgrounds just like any other university. There may not be as much activities going on like at FIU or FSU because MDC is a small college but MDC students still enjoy the same sports and activities among other things.

    Bang for the buck

MDC is one of the best colleges in South Florida especially when it comes to tuition. It is VERY affordable compared to other public and private universities. You can always transfer to a public or private university after you get your associates degree. MDC is a great place to start because you will save at least half of what you would have paid for if you attended a public or private university in the first place.

    Tips for prospective students

Although MDC doesn't have an application deadline, it does have a financial aid deadline. When you apply to MDC, also apply to MDC Honors College because it is a GREAT opportunity for incoming freshmen and one of the BEST decisions a college student can make. Also, DO NOT procastinate when registering for classes because they do fill up quick.

Great for these types of students

If staying close to home and tuition are one of your main concerns, MDC is a great place to start. It is very convenient because there are many campuses to choose from, meeting new people is no problem because MDC is very diverse, you actually learn, and most importantly you tuition is very affordable.

MDC teaches very well if the right teacher is taken. As a new student fresh out of high school i didn't know much about picking teachers or student review sites, but with time i learned about them and thus was able to select teachers that help me learn much more than i would have otherwise. So far i have learned many thing to help me as i continue the process of obtaining my degree and with one semester left i believe ill be ready for higher education with what I've learned so far.

    Am enjoying being here

I do enjoy it there, i haven't had nor seen any trouble, many of the people are friendly and theirs a diverse group of people. On Wednesday i believe they give free food to students and they have many clubs for people to join if they are interested. Although they closed one gym to open another much better one, that i have wanted to go to but has been close for month after they posted they would open it. i still enjoy being there with my friends.

    Bang for the buck

Compared to many universities paying about three to four hundred per class and a few hundreds if even that on books is very worth it. i believe for general courses we are learning just about the same thing we would be paying four to five times as much for in a big universities. Also if you have financial aid like everyone i know you'll pretty much be going to school for free.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely learn to pick your own classes because counselors cant always pick what best for you. You can easy pick your schedule online and just check your teachers out on ratemyprofessors.com to make sure you wont lose your money or time on bad teachers. Join clubs for special activities and enjoy the free food given away. Of course apply for financial aid, study so you can learn, and have fun after all its collage.

Great for these types of students

    Students looking for affordable schools
    Hardworking
Students that may need financial aid
    Offer dozens of career options
    Want an AA degree
Want to do general courses among other within two years

In every class you enter the teacher provides resources along with their syllabus ensuring a better of the understanding of the course material. I can attest to their availability to discuss the different subjects that are covered in semester period and how thorough they are presented.

    Am enjoying being here

From the first day of college for me, I was so fascinated with the different lounges they have to read, hosts study meetings and recreation. Being a musician, there is more than enough space to practice and jam out with my friends after or in between classes.

    Bang for the buck

Miami Dade is very reasonable when compared to neighboring institutions and yet still will go far as to reveal third party options for your educational experience to be a worhtwhile one. Depending on your financial status, one can truly accept the wide variety of prices tagged to books, food, rentals, accesories, and events. I always look forward to the first two motnths of every semester where the Student Life Dept opens up activitites & refreshments to the student body which is a good welcome to the students.

    Tips for prospective students

A little prep for prospective students fall under finances, time management, and networking. First with finances, it is best to ALWAYS have a buscard if you do not drive. Find fellow students in the same major as you and ask about books. If food is a problem, LEARN TO COOK & CARRY IT FROM HOME! Last, get a One Card & SAVE YOUR REFUND MONEY.
With time management, use every resource, weblink, and lab time provided during a semester. Try not to stretch an assignment out to make it to that event of the year - you will regret it with the cramming of work afterwards. Do not be afraid to say I have to go now to a friend in the middle of a conversation - think of your grade always!
Last is networking. Whatever your professor suggests for the class for personal growth - Test it! If it doesn't help leave it, simple! same goes for a classmate!

Great for these types of students

Do not miss out on your passions. If non-major related classes are available or non-credit are available that offer skills for your long life dream either wait until after graduation of the AA or take in the summer term where its laid back.

At this community college, I am learning a wide range of subjects. Not only am I learning for my major, but I am getting a little bit of every subject, this makes me a cultured individual. The professors at the college are very helpful outside class, they are interested in the students progress as well as the subject matter. The work load depends on the major, but you learn a lot from it, it is not busy work. I am very content with the progress in my learning in the past year in Miami Dade College.

    Am enjoying being here

I really enjoy being part of the Miami Dade College family. I feel like everyone gets along and everyone collaborates together to make the college a better place. Clubs and honor societies make my time at the college more enjoyable because you meet people and are able to help the community while having fun. I enjoy the fact that I do not feel alone. Not only do have friends, but teachers and advisors are very welcoming and they make you feel like family. I am 100% glad that I went to this college.

    Bang for the buck

Not only is the school good, but the financial aid is incredible. The creator of Miami Dade College created this community college for everyone can get an affordable education. The classes here are the cheapest you can get and they are worth it. Around 80% of the college gets financial aid and the rest are able to afford it because it is has economical prices. If you want a more challenging course that pays for your classes if you expected family contribution is high, I suggest joining the Honors College. It is a rigorous program, but it pays for your classes.

    Tips for prospective students

I always recommend the Honors College in Miami Dade to anyone I talk to. For people who like to challenge themselves and want to learn a lot, this is a great program. There are certain requirements to get in, but it is a great shot. Not only do you have the advantage of getting smaller classes, but the program pays for your classes, books, and gives you a stipend on top of that. The program makes your stay at the college more enjoyable because you spend your time with a small elite group of students the whole time. It is like a family. Students also participate in many community service events, and get the advantage of having an advisor that can help you at any time. Students in this program also gain experience on how to apply to scholorships or colleges because they take leadership classes every semester. Apart from all this, students also have opportunities like educational trips. These trips include Costa Rica, Salzburg Austria, Tennessee, and Washingtion DC. Prospective students should join.

Great for these types of students

The college is perfect for students who want to stay in Miami for the first two years of college. I do not recommend getting loans to get your associates degree. Miami Dade is a great way to get your AA degree at a cheap price without loans. It is also a great place for students who did not do good in high school and cannot get in any prestigious colleges. This college accepts any students. There are also many people that go to Miami Dade to get small degrees like nursing, Phlebotomy, dental assistant. This is a great place to get a small degree if you missed out on your college years.

This is a college with, some may say, surprisingly great professors! I am a college sophomore and all of my teachers so far have been so knowledgeable. A great deal of them are willing to help you, if you should need help and really want you to learn.

I attend Kendall Campus and it is a nice and rather clean campus. There are clubs if you want to join, but, if you don't care to, you can just go about your business and studies without being bothered. I really enjoy that!

I have taken some really worthwhile classes and have had many incredibly knowledgeable and wonderful teachers. I have actually managed to learn quite a bit of french in two short semesters and am retaining a lot about psychology. You are definitely not in debt after you complete your 2 years here.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't forget that there is an Honor's College within Miami Dade. If you can, apply for it! They will pay for everything and then some. AND they offer so many amazing opportunities.

I have learned so much ever since the first day of attending this college. Its been a great experience and it still is. They have so many resources and the service is tremendously helpful! The math labs and writing center helped me so much when it came to my papers and tests. I learned what I couldn't understand in High School, and the aides that were always available provided me with great tips.

    Am enjoying being here

I love attending here, its peaceful, quite, organized, and a great place for studying and learning. I feel relaxed, and always have my space when I need to study in a quiet area. The people are always friendly and are always willing to help you out.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition costs are amazing in this school compared to other colleges! Anyone is actually capable to be able to pay for their education, and that makes it so much easier now that many are going through financial troubles. I don't receive financial aid, so all my classes I managed to pay on my own, and I don't even have a job! If you're really tight on money, I definitely suggest taking classes here. You get the same education for a cheaper price :)

    Tips for prospective students

Dont be nervous, and get ready to meet new people! :) Its a great opportunity to meet new people from all over the world, learn new things, and attend extra curricular activities you couldn't be able to attend before. Be active and do something too. Everything is provided for you, so if you need help or service, this is the place to get it! Also, apply for classes early! Dont be lazy and wait for the last minute, you'll get the short end of the stick if you do.

Great for these types of students

Everyone is welcomed here! Whether you are a busy mother of 2, or just a recent high school graduate. You choose your schedule, your teachers, EVERYTHING! Just make sure you do good in your classes, and you're set.
