Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Love this school...not to small yet its right between home and Lexington. Campus is beautiful the lake is gorgeous. The housing on campus is getting updated and renovated, to make it more modern. Morehead is AHMAZING!!!
Will enjoy being here Lockegee is the place to go to relax, study and to just forget about the stresses of college.
Bang for the buck It has everything you want and then some without breaking the bank!
Tips for prospective students Take a day from school and visit the campus...ask questions during the tour and meet with the head of the department you're looking into. They have so much to tell you!
Great for these types of students Business Majors, Music Majors, Teaching Majors, and Nursing Majors...Come here!! This is YOUR future home!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The great thing about MSU is that the professors really care. The class sizes are small, and almost always the professors know your name. Most of my professors have doctoral degrees, and really know what they are talking about. Any time I have ever had a question, they have been able to help. The classes are challenging, but manageable. It all depends on how hard you want to push yourself. No matter what level you are, you will learn something here. The professor will tailor the class to you.
Am enjoying being here I moved to Morehead from Louisville, so obviously this was a huge change for me. If anyone else out there is thinking about going to a small college in a rural setting vs. a large one in a urban setting, opt for the one in the middle of nowhere. Morehead is tiny, and true- there isn't a lot to do...if you don't look. Make friends and Morehead is just as great as NYC. I've lost my wallet a few times, and every time it has been turned in or returned to me within 24 hours. The safety here is what I like the most. I have never felt in danger. Not once. I can walk around by myself at night and not get hurt. Morehead was rated one of the safest schools and it shows.
Bang for the buck Morehead's tuition is extremely affordable. I don't spend anywhere near what everyone else spends to get the same education. The housing is mediocre, but it is relatively affordable. One of the things that I think Morehead should offer would be a better option for younger students to live off campus. Overall, however, I feel like my money is well spent. There is a tuition calculator on Morehead's website that will tell you just how much you would spend in different scenarios.
Tips for prospective students Try to look at scholarships specific to this school in September of your senior year. There are several that are specific to this time when some people are just starting to look. If you get your foot in the door during this time, you will do much better financially. Also, make sure you are ready to wake up at 2 am for fire drills. Yes, this will happen at any school you go to.
Great for these types of students Music Education, Computer Science, Pre-Vet, Ag, small town students or urban based students. Morehead is a great school with wonderful administrators, and deserves more credit than it gets. I am part of the Music Education department, and I love it. There is such a community here. Students really help each other out and the professors will create a personal bond with you. If you want a small town and a small campus, this is the place for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have learned a lot the past few years I've been here. It has great teachers. Of course, there are a few who everyone has a problem with, but the majority will do anything to help you out with any problems. The teachers are always willing to listen and be of assistance in any way possible.
Am enjoying being here I really enjoy it here. The summer, spring, and fall months are usually nice. When it snows it the winter time and when the leaves change in the fall the mountains are gorgeous. It is a beautiful campus with friendly individuals and staff members.
Bang for the buck One of the cheapest colleges I know of besides a community college. A good education at a cheaper price is never a bad combination.
Tips for prospective students Ask questions. Everyone around here is willing to help and answer any questions you have about anything. Literally, anything. It is a great place to go to school.
Great for these types of students Great school for anyone looking for a place that is not too big, but not too small. Anyone looking for a great education, a good college experience, and good relationships with people will love this school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The amazing thing about learning at Morehead is the fact that your classes are small and the professors know you by name. If I raised my hand in my psychology class, I know the professor would answer Yes, Ashley? every time, & he could always help. Also, I really liked how the material was presented. The slides you cover in class are almost always on Blackboard afterwards, which is very helpful for you to study outside of class.
Am enjoying being here Everyone always says there is nothing to do at Morehead, but that's because they don't look! There are always events going on on campus, & the University send you emails every week so you know the events that week. I love that! Also, off campus there are great places to eat, a good amount of shopping, and you're just 30 to 45 minutes from big cities like Lexington.
Bang for the buck Tuition at MSU was one of the many things that made me chose Morehead. It is reasonable, and they will help you with scholarships and financial aide in any way possible to make sure you can pay and get a good education. A lot of people end up paying absolutely nothing.
Tips for prospective students I recommend getting involved on campus on move in day and meeting new people. The block party is a lot of fun for that! I also reccomend you live in a four person suite, in Mignon or West Mignon. I love having all the room, my own shower and bathroom.
Great for these types of students I think Morehead is great for any subject matter major students. I know the education program is a big deal, but I am a psychology major and I think it works great for me! Also, I think MSU is great for people who want a small campus, but not too small. I love that I don't have to walk very far, ever.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences morehead is a great school! i love it and the teachers are all very nice and willing to work with you. these teachers/professors generally care about their students. :)
Tips for prospective students morehead has a great eating place that is a buffet. i eat here alot and the food is amazing.
you have flex dollars you can use in the pod when you get those late night candy cravings!Academic Rigor you need to work hard but don't work your butt off. if you do music education you will be working harder than any student.
Dorm Life dorm life is great if you like your roommate; if not then just wait it out till the change up day or talk to housing.
Food and Dining aduc is pretty expensive, with meal plans you are paying 6 bucks for a chicken sandwich fries and a pop. if you are like me and need more food, go to rfoc it has great food and an all you can eat buffet.
What to do for fun most college people would put party here, what i do is go to gatti's across the street and play games, go to the park and swing, climb lockege, or play super nintendo in the dorm. not much to do here, but we did get a new center where we have a pool, excersize equipment and other fun things! :d
Bang for the buck morehead is a really cheap college, for it to be a university it's worth it!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus most college students like to climb lockege, it's a great stress reliever.
Great for these types of students this college has several church organizations, sororities, and fraternities.
Clubs and Activities tons! they have something for everyone!
Greek Life there is literally different types of sororites for everyone.
Campus Safety police station is very close and even on campus, police cars always around to assist.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Morehead is a nice school with professors who are always willing to help. If you struggle in your classes there is a wonderful tutoring lab where you can receive help from students in the same major.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask for help, and always go to class, it makes a difference with your grades and your professors opinions of you.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, your classes can be difficult or easy. Most gen. eds. are pretty easy, but you major classes are more demanding.
Dorm Life Dorm life isn't bad. Four person rooms are the best because of the personal bathroom, but if you don't mind sharing the bathroom with a floor, the two person rooms are nice as well.
Food and Dining There are plenty of options during the day for lunch, after 5 there is only one option and then at 8 another place opens up. There is also a convenience store on campus that is open until 2 a.m.
What to do for fun Morehead is not a very big town so there isn't a whole lot to do. The main thing to do it either go to Buffalo Wild Wings and hang out, or go to the movies. Lexington is an hour away for weekend trips.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At the beginning of every fall semester there is a campus wide block party and then an ice cream social.
Greek Life There are quite a few greeks on campus, I'm a Delta Zeta. The members of the greek life are like a family and are always having mixers and things.
Campus Safety Morehead's campus is a very safe campus that offers rides students shuttles for those who are walking late at night and there is a police station on campus.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I plan to pursue a degree in imaging sciences and their program seems to be the best in Eastern Kentucky.
Will enjoy being here I'm not too fond of the location; there isn't much to do there. They just completed a new recreation center so that should be exciting.
Bang for the buck Eastern Kentucky University only gave me a half-tuition scholarship, but I got the Commonwealth scholarship from Morehead which is full tuition. They have so many scholarships that you can apply for whether you're a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior.
Tips for prospective students Definitely visit the campus once or twice. The campus is beautiful and smaller than other Universities such as UK or EKU. Make sure to make your SOAR date as soon as you're accepted! That way you can choose your classes before other students because they fill up fast.
Great for these types of students Morehead would be great for someone that is used to living in a small town, or even for someone who is used to living in a big city and would like to live in a smaller town for a change. They have many majors to choose from and I think Morehead is a great university to start out at if you haven't chosen a major yet.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I started off as a Studio Art Major here and admittedly struggled with it. I was bored in my classes, so I started to slack off. I started taking some theatre courses, just to see, and I fell in love. Now, I'm learning so much every day that I'm here, and I'm getting experience that will directly affect my career.
Am enjoying being here MSU has a great familial atmosphere. We're not a particularly small college, so there's a diverse group of people for you to become friends with and learn from. At the same time, we're small enough that you don't feel lost in a sea of people. There are so many different groups on campus, Greek and Independent, that there really is something for everyone if you're just willing to put out the effort to get involved.
Bang for the buck MSU's tuition is affordable regardless, and they offer tons of scholarship and loan opportunities.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you apply early for scholarships, as there is always a limited supply. When you get here, don't be scared to experiment by taking different kinds of classes and participating in different events. If you put forth the effort, you're bound to find your niche.
Great for these types of students Active students, from a small town or suburban setting.
