Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot No matter what school you choose be sure to get involved in some way, it makes college much more enjoyable and Murray is a great place to get involved.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful, especially in autumn. It is really easy to get involved in different clubs and activities which make college much more worthwhile. The town is small but everything is conveniently located close by. The number of students is around 10,000, so you meet lots of different people and can always meet more.
Bang for the buck Murray has been on Kiplinger's Rankings for Best Value Colleges. There are many scholarships available through the school, there's at least one that you qualify for. Also there are free or cheap activities on campus frequently, from movies to luaus to singing.
Tips for prospective students No matter what school you choose be sure to get involved in some way, it makes college much more enjoyable and Murray is a great place to get involved.
Great for these types of students If you want a quality education and have some fun along the way MSU is the place for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am studying spanish here at Murray State and have learned more about the language in the one class that I have taken so far than four years combined in high school.
Am enjoying being here I have loved every second of Murray State. The campus is not too big to be overwhelmed, but it is not too small to be bored. There are many restaurants and stores in Murray that make the town great!
Bang for the buck Murray State University is one of the least expensive universities in all of Kentucky, but one does not trade the lack of expenses for a valuable education.
Tips for prospective students In order to apply for Murray State, one must have decent grades and a desire to go. If you do not have the best ACT score and do not think you will get in, think again. Murray State works with students that do not have the minimum ACT scores. Also, Murray State offers many scholarships to finance your education.
Great for these types of students I think Murray State is great for anyone that likes a small town atmosphere, friendly people, and little debt upon graduating. I am certain that almost anyone can find their place at Murray State University.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are fun, but most are not challenging enough.
Am enjoying being here The town is tiny and there isn't much to do if you don't like to hunt or drive trucks. Although, they do have an inexpensive movie theater and the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) is beautiful year round.
Bang for the buck It is very inexpensive and you receive a decent education.
Tips for prospective students Give it a chance, just because I don't like it doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try. I know many, many people who love this place.
Great for these types of students Outdoors-y, adventurous, ingenuity, creative

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All of my classes this semester were really great. The teachers really seem to know what they are talking about and care about how you do in their class. You aren't just a number and they want you to do well.
Am enjoying being here Murray may be a small town with not much to do but it is very friendly. The campus is also very pretty in the fall when all the leaves are changing.
Bang for the buck Murray State is definately worth the price. The classes are very informative and the dorms really arent too bad either.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you apply for scholarships and get involved. There are many different scholarships and most everyone that applies is awarded at least one. Murray also has many different clubs for all sorts of interests so everyone can find something for them. It is also a really good way to meet new people who are interested in the same things you are.
Great for these types of students Anyone interested in agriculture or anyone looking for a smaller campus where you aren't just a number.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Murray State is full of teachers who are always willing and able to answer your questions and discuss certain topics. The classrooms are filled with intriguing conversation and professors who are most likely open to your ideas. I have learned so much this semester it is unreal. I am a student who did not study enough in high school. However, upon entering college, I was able to get help with my studying habits and talk with people who can help me manage my time.
Am enjoying being here This is my hometown so I love the idea that my college is right out in my backyard. This town is a great place to be and, if you so choose, it is a great place to raise a family. The people are friendly and the environment is nurturing. The community is wonderful in providing their full support to our college population.
Bang for the buck For the type of education we are receiving at Murray State, the tuition is a steal! It is not expensive whatsoever, and for those of us who need financial aid, it is readily available. Murray State offers pages upon pages of available scholarships, need and merit based. By attending Murray State, you are getting a terrific education for a price that is unbeatable.
Tips for prospective students The best piece of advice I can give is be sure to know your professor and what they expect of you. I can say that I did not do the best I could because I did not always listen to what my teachers expected of me. When you are in college, you must be on top of things because each teacher is very unique. The second piece of advice I can give is to write everything down. Whether it is taking notes during class, which I highly advise, or just keeping your datebook in check, I cannot stress how important this is. Staying organized is the best tip I can give.
Great for these types of students Murray State is great for students who wish to be pushed toward a successful life during and after college. Succeeding in life is not left to those who teach us but to us as the individual who will take that information and grow from it. To attend this school, you must be goal oriented and career focused. With these values in hand, you will surely be on your way to success.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Because Murray State isn’t a huge campus, many of the classes are not over thirty students. The science lectures, however, consist of many a hundred students, but the professors make themselves available if help is needed. Also, the teaching skills of the professors and excellent, and they make sure that all material covered is understood.
Am enjoying being here I’m about nine hours away from home and I have had a great experience so far by going out of state to Murray. The students here are friendly and in no time I had met and made numerous friends. Also, there are many campus and dorm activities that help students get involved and meet new people.
Bang for the buck Murray State, like most colleges, is a little expensive for out of state students, but I would recommend it to both in-state and out-of-state students looking for a good home for the next four years.
Tips for prospective students Don’t stress too much about college. Once you know that you have found the right college for you, don’t hesitate. If you know that it’s the right college for you, then go for it!
Great for these types of students Murray State offers a great program for Nursing, Business, Music, Equine Science, Pre-Vet, Engineering, Art, and many others.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The faculty are fantastic here. They really care about you and care to not only just know your name but to get to know you as well. You get the college course education with the cozy feeling of a high school classroom
Am enjoying being here I consider Murray my real home. I am a part of the Greek Community and Student Government and there is always something to do. Whether it be attending sporting events, community service, or just relaxing in the quad. Dorms have a great community and do a great job in being a second family.
Bang for the buck I believe this is a steal to be honest.
Tips for prospective students Find the library and go Greek.
Great for these types of students Any and all need to apply

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm learning a lot here at Murray State and not just book smarts either. At Murray you learn a lot though not only though you what your books teach, but though your teachers and their experience around the world. Murray is known for sending both students and teachers around the world to gain experiences. For the teaches it gives them even more experiences so that they are able to come back and teach even more efficiently.
Murray is just all around one of the best places to come if you are looking for both knowledge and a place where you cant wait for the next class to come. =)Am enjoying being here I am really enjoying my time here. I graduated a year early in June from my high school in the mountains in NC and came straight to Murray after graduation and have been attending classes since. I love both the location and the community. the people here in Murray are some of the nicest you will meet and are always willing to lend a hand.
Bang for the buck For me attending Murray is expensive, but I am a out of state student. I pay around 28 G a year. For instate student Murray is a great price though. Most in-state students pay about 14-15 G from my understanding. There are also a lot of scholarships open.
Tips for prospective students -Don't try to over load your self your first semester.
-stay in the dorm the first year it is well worth it and you get a experience that you can't have any where else.
-the residential colleges always have something going on and it's always fun so go out to some of the events!Great for these types of students -Murray isn't the place for the down to earth type that are just in college to study and nothing else.
-Murray is great for social people and people who want to get their work down and still make lots of new friends !Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot University Studies (required courses) for freshmen bogged me down a little, but now that I've had a chance to branch out into my own areas, I'm learning more and more about the stuff I'm really interested in!
Am enjoying being here It's a little far from home for me, being really close to my family and all, but it's been worth it to jump out into the college experience. Plus the university had a really great freshmen program to help new students adjust.
Outside of that, I like the campus size and the size of the city of Murray (similar to home for me). It's easy to walk into town if you want, and everything is pretty much centralized around campus! We're not far from a couple of bigger cities for evening or weekend outings.
I also feel like I know lots of people here and it's more comfortable for me trying to make friends that way.Bang for the buck Murray's been on the Best Deals list for colleges for years now and it's no joke: Murray has some great teachers and some great programs for the price you pay. I feel like other universities have you pay more for being bigger or closer to a big city.
Tips for prospective students Work hard for yourself and Murray will work hard for you. Be cool with the profs, let them know you want to succeed and they really pull out the stops to help you!
Great for these types of students Murray can really please anybody! We have great classes (lots of choices), unique professors, a great campus and size, surrounded by a city that has just about everything you need! We have great sports programs and academics as well (coming from a proud Honors Program member!). Definitely have Murray at the top of your list!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers here are all well experienced in their fields. They know how to give you good hands on experience that you can later use in your own field. You may even walk away with something to show an employer.
Am enjoying being here The campus is large enough to give you the total college experience, but its not so big that you're just another number. There are lots of things to do and see in town as well.
Bang for the buck They have one of the least expensive tuitions of most colleges. Its easier to get tuition paid for through scholarships. Plus you wont be cheated this is a good school that will challenge you, not a party school.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you find out everything you need to have completed before going and while going here. Make sure you complete your paperwork on time, well before deadlines.
Great for these types of students People who want a good college for low cost.
People who take their college experience seriously.
People who want to become part of close knit college community.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i live 5.5-7 hours from murray, depending on the route. homesickness is really hard for me. but involving myself in things like the equestrian program, intramural sports and dorm activities has really helped me adjust. i truly love murray state, but because i am from a large city the town of murray is just too small for me.
Tips for prospective students realize that murray is a small town so it can be a culture shock if you're coming in from a big city. when you're touring murray, ask as many questions as you want about activities and/or sports you enjoy to see what teams are available. try to truly picture yourself at murray state. it really helps with your decision making.
Academic Rigor each class is different because each professor has their own way of teaching. as long as you apply yourself and study hard, you can succeed in any class. and don't be afraid to ask for help from a tutor or even your professor. they are there to answer your questions and help you succeed!
Dorm Life dorm life is one of the best things about murray. each dorm is a separate college with it's own mascot. the dorms play intramural games for a whole variety of sports. each dorm puts on programs and has town hall meetings to help make life at msu enjoyable. currently a great white shark from white college and i love it! make sure you check out all your dorm options when you apply!
Food and Dining winslow dining hall always has some great food. there's also fast track, located on the side of winslow where students can use cash or flex dollars to buy things like groceries, toiletries, and first aid kit supplies. local businesses give msu students some great discounts for things like dining out or delivery foods, tanning beds, the night owl, and the local chiropractor.
What to do for fun some fraternities throw parties on thursdays and on the weekends, but a lot of those parties require partiers to be on a list. murray basketball is always fun to watch (only undefeated team left in the ncaa as of 02/08/2012!)! there's also murray's on-campus hookah bar, called the night owl. murray also hosts a ton of great speakers and programs throughout the semester!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the shoe tree! absolutely my favorite thing on campus. if two people meet at murray and end up getting married, they nail 1-2 shoes on the shoe tree. they can write important dates or places. a lot of couples who are on the shoe tree have come back in later years to add a few finishing touches, like a shoe from their first child. it's a beautiful tradition.
Great for these types of students independent, social, active, outdoorsy
Clubs and Activities there are so many clubs and activities at msu that you will find at least one that is perfect for you. and if, by chance, you don't - you can always start a new club!
Campus Safety racer patrol is great if you ever feel like you need an escort anywhere. the dorms host a lot of safety meetings at the beginning of semesters too, just to inform students of potential dangers and how to prevent them.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The environment seems so nice and welcoming. All of the staff that I have had to work with was very friendly and helpful. The campus may be big but it is easy to find where you need to go and is a very pretty, welcoming atmosphere.
Tips for prospective students If at all possible, tour the campus. I also spent my fall break from another college with a friend of mine that was a Murray State student and got to go to her classes and experience the college life. That week made me want to attend Murray even more. I would highly recommend trying to this.
Academic Rigor I have not yet attended the school yet, I start 1/17/2012, but after looking through a few of my class outlines and a syllabus I can tell that I will definitely have to study a lot and focus on my schooling. It seems to be a lot more challenging than the Community College I attended in the fall.
Dorm Life I have yet to move into my dorm, but I spent my fall break visiting a friend and I got to stay in her dorm. The dorms are bigger than other schools that I have seen. They are also kept maintained and clean. The security is great. There was always someone at the front counter inside of the dorm lobby at all times checking id's.
Food and Dining After visiting campus, I ate at Winslow Dining Hall many times. The food there was great and there was a huge variety. I am an extremely picky eater and I always found something to eat. The only down side is that it closes at 8 pm so if you have a late class or want a late night snack you have to either leave campus or keep food in your dorm.
What to do for fun There is always something going on at the campus. There's a huge variety of clubs, sororities and fraternities, and sports games. Also there is a work out building with a pool, many basketball courts, a track, and many exercise machines.
Bang for the buck After looking at various schools that offered a pre-veterinarian program, this one seemed to be the best one and had one of the lowest tuition rates. They seem to have good quality schooling for less. There's so much that is offered on campus that is free of charge or cheaper than other universities.
Campus Safety After touring the campus, I feel the campus is very safe. The police station is located on campus for quick response. The campus is well-lit at night. Also there are various emergency buttons along the walkways that you can use to get help if you need it. You can also be escorted to and from late night classes if you would like. There is always someone in each of the dorm lobby's to check id's and make sure that everyone is authorized to be in there. In order to get in the dorm building you have to swipe your student id to unlock the door.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Murray State has a really positive environment full of friendly people. There are always many things to do, and all different kinds of opportunities. All students are proud to be Racers!
Tips for prospective students ALWAYS get a doctor's note if you get sick.
Don't get sick.
Go to class ALWAYS!!Academic Rigor Classes in general aren't difficult, but it still requires many hours of study and dedication.
Dorm Life Although most of the dorm buildings are old, the students are always nice and the RAs make it a point to learn everyone's name. There are always activities to do.
Food and Dining There are always a wide variety of choices with food from all different cultures. MSU also grows some of their own food on a farm, and composts food waste.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Shoe Tree - for students who meet at MSU and end up getting married: they come back and each nail a shoe to the tree.
All Campus Sing - student organizations (mainly greek) compete in a singing/dancing competition on the front steps of the auditorium in the springClubs and Activities There is a club for everything you can think of, and athletic events are always exciting. Especially Racer Band!
Greek Life There are many opportunities, however, there are no sorority houses.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The faculty here are great! They'll all give you help if you need it, and most of them are really awesome to just hang out with. Lots of really awesome people.
Am enjoying being here Murray might be small, but it's got great places. The way most of the dorms are set up is good too - 2 people per room, 2 rooms per bathroom. No need to worry about community baths! Don't like the dorms? Most of the apartments are less than 5 minutes off campus.
Bang for the buck Incredible price. As far as I know, Murray is the cheapest school in the state, but it still has really good programs. They also really push study abroad programs - so much that they'll throw scholarship money at you if you want to go on one!
Tips for prospective students -Get involved on campus. Even if you're not a theatre major, audition for plays and musicals. It's a great way to meet people.
-Don't take too many classes your first semester. It's better to ease yourself in and realize you can do more than get completely overloaded at the beginning.Great for these types of students -Arts. Murray State University is a great place for drama, music, everything. Racer Band is really fun, too.
-Computers. Murray has 4-5 computer shops right off-campus, and the CS, CIS, and TSM majors are hugely dedicated to studying computers. Murray is the only school in the state that offers TSM (telecommunications systems management) or similar majors.
-While I'm not Greek, Murray does have some really great fraternities & sororities.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Many of my classes have been challenging, but very enlightening. Most of the professors really know what they're talking about.
Am enjoying being here I have met wonderful people and the campus is very nice. The town of Murray is small, but my friends and I always find stuff to do.
Bang for the buck It's cheaper than the larger state schools, and you still receive an equal if not better education. You definitely receive more attention from the professors due to the smaller classes,. I've also found that even in larger classes the professor makes an effort to know everyone's name.
Tips for prospective students Get involved in the numerous clubs on campus. Living on campus, especially for your first year, is a good idea in order to get to know people and feel more apart of the school.
Great for these types of students Murray State is great for business students, as well as those looking into the liberal arts. There is a large Agriculture program and a splendid Music program.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There is a wide variety of classes and majors at MSU. Each one is unique and is fitted to the students needs and their wants of learning. Every teacher there that I have came in contact with has been nothing but helpful and has put their students first.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely LOVE being living at Murray. I live on Campus in the Residential College of Richmond. The housing accommodations are amazing and they make you feel so much at home. If you want to get the college experience, living on the Murray Campus will surely give you it!
Bang for the buck MSU gives you the education you could recieve at any other high priced university for half the price! The application for scholarships is so easy and boy do they provide! So far I have had almost all of my school paid for thanks to their scholarship program. And when it comes to paying for it they are so good about working with you and finding ways to help you pay. Going to Murray would not be a waste for anyone!
Tips for prospective students If I had to give any tips it would be:
1. live on campus
2. always meet the scholarship dead lines
3. don't be afraid to go to your professors because they'll do anything and everything to help youGreat for these types of students Murray State is great for all types of students!

Am enjoying being here It is exactly the type of college I want to attend. It is in a small town and class sizes are smaller. The campus is beautiful and there is always something going on that students can get involved in.
Bang for the buck The price of tuition is one of my main reasons for choosing MSU in the first place and you definitely get a superb education for the price.
Great for these types of students Murray is perfet for anyone who wants smaller class sizes and a more personal relationship with teachers and other students.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I have been thoroughly impressed with the supportive and helpful nature of the Murray State staff on numerous occasions, and I have been exposed to the high quality of their professors as well. I have no doubt in their ability to teach clearly and effectively.
Will enjoy being here The campus is well organized and beautiful, and the people are friendly and active. I enjoy the central location of the campus within the town and the supportive nature of the community.
Bang for the buck The cost of attendance was a bit steep for my financial levels, but I know that I am obtaining a degree from one of the best colleges in the nation. That fact makes the cost more than acceptable for the benefits later in life.
Great for these types of students The TSM program is great for IT students. It more than adequately prepares you for an IT career and provides a high opportunity for advancement.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot the teachers really care about how much you learn, if you have problems all of the professors are willing to meet outside of class to assist you
Am enjoying being here the campus is absolutely beautiful. The classes and professors help make college much more enjoyable and there is always something to do despite Murray, KY's small size. Just around 1/2 hour from campus is the beautiful National Recreation area known as Land Between the Lakes, which include water activities, hiking, biking, camping, fishing, etc. anything to fill you outdoor interests.
Bang for the buck the tuition prices are very reasonable for the education that you receive, unlike some universities Murray State lets you drop your meal plan after your sophomore year, which is also when you can move off campus (unless you would commute from home) which aides in saving money
Tips for prospective students Make sure you always go to classes and school events as professors are much more willing to work with you if you do these things. Ask around to figure out what classes/professors to take and when to take them.
Great for these types of students If you enjoy a slower paced lifestyle and a more rural setting then MSU is the school for you, even though Murray, KY itself is a small city Nashville, TN is only 2 hours away and Paducah, KY is just under an hour from the campus as well for those times you just have to get to an urban area.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Murray State has a lot to offer acedemically. The classes are challenging and fun. The professors are very nice, and are more than willing to offer extra help.
Am enjoying being here I love the enviroment! There is always some kind of activities going on so that the students are able to have fun. There are hundreds of clubs and organizations for the diverse students attending Murray State. And everything is close to campus!
Bang for the buck The cost is very affordable as far as colleges go. The school has a beautiful campus, a great academic enviroment, and the staff is extremely nice. The only thing I'm not happy with are the dorms. They are a little small and kinda unkempt, but other than that, they are completely livable. (And, if you are willing to pay a little more you can get the really nice dorms)
Tips for prospective students It's hard to adjust to the schedules and living on your own at first, but it gets much easier as it continues. The biggest peice of advice I could offer is to not procrastinate and get assignments done as early as possible. Time management is key!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In all honesty, I am learning a lot about college itself along with the subjects I need for my Pre-Pharmacy curriculum. There are teachers, tutors, and advisers that are always willing to devote some of their time to make certain you understand any class you are taking. Some may not be the best to ask but in all cases, there is definitely someone here on campus who can help you in your class.
Am enjoying being here So long as you get involved on campus, your Murray State experience will be everything you want it to be. There are fraternities, sororities, clubs, and organizations that can make your experience here amazing and benefit your education. We have everything from Pre-Professionals to Pi Kappa Alphas so your surely to find your niche at Murray.
Bang for the buck Murray's tuition overall is very cheap for what you are getting here. You make friends for life and earning a diploma for a better career. Also, the campus itself is very beautiful even though its usually windy on the main campus walk. The professors are adequate, the dorms are much better than they could have been, and the dining halls are very good.
Tips for prospective students Bring a rain jacket, rubber boots, and carry them everywhere. Sometimes, Murray does have surprise weather. The dorms are also strongly suggested to get the full dose of college life. When you live off of campus, you are not as likely to be as involved as you would be on campus.
Great for these types of students People that prefer medium sized colleges. Not so large that you never see people you know but large enough that you can constantly meet someone new and interesting. Murray is also for people that are serious about both academics and social lives. Its a great place to find a balance of both.
