Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I really do feel as though I am learning a lot at Niagara. The professors engage the students in the conversation sparking our interest in what is being discussed as well as helping us better understand the criteria being covered.
Am enjoying being here I love Niagara. I love the campus, the faculty and staff, as all the the people. Everyone is friendly and you always have someone to turn to when in need and the faculty will always go out of their way to be sure that you and your learning needs are met.
Bang for the buck I can't say that Niagara is really worth its cost. If you take advantage of all that there is to offer at NU and make the most of your time here you will definitely feel as though you somewhat gained back what you ended up paying.
Tips for prospective students Come with an open mind and acceptance of everyone. The people you meet and aren't too fond of can become your greatest friends. Take advantage of office hours and any extra time professors are willing to offer you.
Great for these types of students Anyone who comes from a small high school, a small town, or some one who doesn't want to be a number in a class room and wants that relationship with their professors where they know your name, grades and learning capabilities.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot When I first started at Niagara I thought that it was going to be easy and the classes I would be taking were so easy but after the first week I didn't know as much as I thought. I had to work extra hard at my school work and was doing work six times a week at least. I did learn a lot after my first semester and I find myself talking about what I learned with my family sometimes.
Am enjoying being here The environment at Niagara is really great. The people are so nice and it feels like everyone is really close. It is a small campus but you get to know a lot of people really fast.
Bang for the buck Niagara is an excellent school but I feel that for how much we pay to go to Niagara we should be living in better dorms with nicer bathrooms and better rooms. The food that is served is not the best either and they should maybe thing about serving something other than pizza and fries everyday at the dining hall.
Tips for prospective students If you pick Niagara you will be very pleased with the school that is for sure. But make sure you are ok with eating pizza and fries everyday ......well not literally but the food is not that good. The dorms are not great either but you do get use to it. Other than the food or dorm the people here are great and very nice. The teachers also do care how you do in your classes and if you aren't sure on something that you talked about that day in class make sure you do go for help. Every teacher expresses that they have office hours not just to sit and stare at a computer but to help students and have them come in for help. Teachers want you to succeed not fail.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot It is a smaller University, and very catholic. Due to the small size, people tend to come precliqued. If you are a person who like to be involved in after school activities beware that each activity requires a $10 fee per semester and 3 hours of community service. Niagara is also a party school. The dorms do not have wi-fi. Not all the showers have hot water. And communication sucks! I came to NU with previous credit hours, but they still put me in a class of the same material. When I realized it, it was to late to switch classes. The only good thing about NU is that you may have many majors and minors.
Bang for the buck They just keep taking your money!! But they do give out a lot of scholarships.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to take 9 credits of religion and philosophy. They are mandated.
Great for these types of students Catholics.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences niagara university has a great teaching staff; some of which work int the field they teach. they are very good about keeping you aware of current and up coming events. biggest criticism the current parking arrangement; be prepared to walk about 2-3 blocks to get to class.
Tips for prospective students map out a path that covers your four years, and the goals you want to accomplish. especially if you want to have a minor in a particular field because it will tie up most of your free electives. it is also good to pick up these classes early enough in case you decide you want to change programs. dorms are available, there's always an event, and the students are really great. there is help in many places at nu and i would recommend using the social network to help you along. it has been great for me to branch out and meet new people especially because i am an untraditional student.
Academic Rigor most classes are very informative, and will give you a sense of what you need to know in the real world. you have to take classes seriously, and put an honest effort in. if you do most professors will go out of their way to make sure you get the material. however, some teachers have a schedule that i feel is too demanding. you feel like you're caught up in a whirl wind and are not sure if you are going to land on your feet.
Dorm Life i have never dormed or been in a dorm so they get a 5 out of default. i do know that some of the dorms are newly added.
Food and Dining i give it a five just because there are several places on campus to get food. while clet hall is the official dining hall, galagher center also offers food. there is a pizza place, sandwhich deli, asian food, grill, mini store, and tim hortons all located in the lower level galagher center.
What to do for fun there is a lot to do. there is an on campus gym, different clubs, team events, and plenty of different sports represented. nu usually sends an email out letting you know what is going on and it may be anything from a movie night, open skate, or game schedule.
Bang for the buck niagara university is a bit pricey, but there are scholarships available as well as federal and state aid depending on need. the professors seem to really care about your current life situation, and what your plans on for after graduation.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus none that i know of
Great for these types of students we have many different students. i am a 32 year old mom that works full-time and goes to school on a full-time basis as well. some people in my class are young with no other obligations, and there have been a few older well into their careers. niagara university for the most part has a very flexible and generous course offering. classes are offered at night and early in the morning, and a couple online.
Clubs and Activities while i personally do not have time to join any clubs i know they are all around. if you are interested you just have to ask. if there is nothing to your liking you can get permission and start one.
Greek Life definitely things going on in this arena. again i do not have time for it, but i have seen and overheard some of their meetings in gallagher.
Campus Safety they have always helped if needed--except if you lock your keys in your car which i have done. they will help you if your car battery dies, and get you to your car if your uncomfortable alone after dark. if you need anything special i would just ask.

Categories Rating Comments Academic Rigor Though it really depends on what major you're going for, Niagara does all it can to educate their students for the path they're going on. However the requirement of a minimum of three religious classes to be taken over the course of your college career turns some students away from going to NU.
Dorm Life NU has a generally friendly environment. The students and staff can become like family and the closeness of the campus can ensure that you will find friends quickly.
Food and Dining There are mixed reviews on food, but if you don't enjoy food on campus there are many good restaraunts near campus that you can eat at.
What to do for fun Because Niagara University is located near a small town, there isn't too much to do if you aren't the small-town type (likes to walk around looking at antique shops or go into little shops and shop around for a bit). However Niagara Falls, Buffalo, and Canada are within a half-an-hour trip and - if you're willing - you can travel for two hours to get to Toronto.
Bang for the buck While NU does a good hob with what they have, their dorms need to be improved (increasing room size)
Great for these types of students Any student that is used to suburban settings, small classroom sizes and actually knowing their teacher (not being just a face in their class) would love to attend NU.
Clubs and Activities There is a club for almost every major on campus, so if you can't find your place amongst any other clubs you always have these. However there are fees to pay for just about every club to join.
Greek Life Though Niagara does mention initially that there are fraternities and sororities on campus, they are not as prominent at Niagara as they are at other universities.
Campus Safety Campus security does a great job. During open houses I could see them patrolling around in their cars and an officer or two at each dorm.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I feel that if you want to learn you can take class where you will learn what you need to or if you want you can take the history of music for a easy grade
Am enjoying being here It's fun. Make some friends and you can have a great time here. Most RA's are cool and allow you to do alot
Bang for the buck It's college so it's going to cost you no matter what. Niagara might be more expensive but you do get a more personal approach
Tips for prospective students Enjoy college where every. Food kinda sucks so get walmart giftcards to buy food
Great for these types of students Who like small classes, one and one experiences

Dorm Life Very fun new dorms. They have been updated recently and students all hang out together.
Food and Dining Not bad but not to big of a variety. Love the tim hortons on campus.
What to do for fun the out let mall and the big mall is only an hour away. Also a few bars and clubs around or can drive into buffalo for a bigger variety.
Bang for the buck Very expensive college.
Great for these types of students Students who love the small connected feel for a college. Those who dont mind that there isnt a ton to do around campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences niagara university is a wonderful place to go for your undergraduate and graduate as well. with its small class sizes and extremely knowledgeable professors you are sure to get an excellent education. the professors and staff are very caring and willing to help you succeed.
Tips for prospective students get involved on campus, it's the best way to make connections both professionally and personally. take the time to know your professors and make sure that they get to know you because it is a lot easier for them to help you succeed when they know you and can put a face to the name, which is much more attainable in the small class sizes niagara has.
Academic Rigor niagara values a rounded education and they teach you valuable things to go into the real world and put your major into action through a job. the professors make sure that they are not giving you an easy a and at the same time don't make it impossible to get an a. academics are greatly valued.
Dorm Life i do not personally dorm, i commute but i have friends who dorm and a friend who is an ra. the dorms are a little older but they have a good atmosphere and everyone is fairly friendly.
Food and Dining there are pretty much two places to get food, clet hall which is the dining hall and the lower level gallagher center which has an assortment of places to buy food including a tim hortons. i don't eat at clet hall but a lot of the students say it isn't exactly the best. i generally pack my lunches as i commute but if i don't have lunch i grab food at lower level gallagher center.
What to do for fun canada is within a half an hour from niagara, in particular clifton hill which has a pretty well known, popular night life. there are clubs in buffalo, and there are plenty of places to shop within minutes of the university, including an outlet mall. visiting niagara falls is always a good option.
Bang for the buck although the university is a little pricey, it is well worth it for the education you receive. i could have gotten a full ride to university at buffalo but i chose to go to niagara because the class sizes were smaller and they have a great education program.
Great for these types of students niagara is great for students who like a more personal element, and don't want to sit in a giant lecture hall with hundreds of other students. the class sizes are generally fairly small at around 30 students, sometimes less and sometimes more depending on the level of class. i have one class where i am one of six students which is awesome.
Clubs and Activities there are a ton of clubs and activities to join whether you want to play a club sport or get involved in student government, a language club or just something you have an interest in. there are always new clubs forming. the campus planning board is always planning activities for the students.
Greek Life there isn't much of a greek life on campus. there are a few sorority's but it isn't a giant deal as depicted in many television shows.
Campus Safety campus safety is excellent. it is a fairly isolated campus in a very nice area so there isn't generally a problem with safety. the campus police are always making rounds though and are there if you should need them.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Niagara University is a school where you are a name and not just a number which is something that the university prides itself on. Overall you can learn alot from professors who have a great amount of exprience in their fields. Professors offer office hours and are really helpful. The school has its ups and downs just like any other school. The town is small as well as the campus.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus and come prepared with questions you may have about the school. On the tours you get a chance to taste the food which can be extremely repetitive and questionable at times. If you are able to stay a night in the dorms to experience how living on campus is through the Niagara Nights program. If you enroll in the school make sure you have a laptop even though there is a 24 hour computer lab. There is a university bus that runs wednesday, friday, saturday and sunday to local places for students who don't have transportation.
Academic Rigor Classes are extremely informational and are worthwhile.
Dorm Life You can choose to live in a double or triple occupancy room or a single room for an additional price. Dorm rooms are equipped with wifi, an ethernet connection, telephone services and cable television although all wires and accessories are not included. Showers are often cold and bathrooms are not kept up to decent clean standards. Rooms can become either too cold or too hot and washing machines although are built into the price of housing are often in use and have a wet dog odor.
Food and Dining There is not much variety to the main dining hall. Utensils are often dirty and there have been rodent spottings.
What to do for fun There are weekly campus events not all are worth participating in. Due to the small town stature students often have to travel to either canada or buffalo to have entertainment.
Bang for the buck There is not much bang for your buck considering the university could make many improvements from the quality of living in the dorm rooms to the quality of food services on campus. Overall the school is pretty expensive although financial aid is available but there is not much that the university gives in return for your $$$$.
Great for these types of students This is a great school for students who wants to be apart of a small university that offers a good student/ professor interaction classroom environment.
Clubs and Activities There are a variety of different clubs that students can join. Each club charges a fee to be an official memeber of the club and community service hours are required.
Greek Life There are sororities and fraternites on campus that students can join but they are not popular if it wasnt for a few fliers and the student activity fair you wouldnt know there were any.
Campus Safety Campus safety is present on campus and are often seen driving around campus or at the front desk in residence halls during the evenings.
