Categories Rating Comments In three sentences It is a very nice, friendly and a supportive place for two-year degree or transferable credits. The staffs are excellent and knowledgeful as well as supportive and dedicated. The school is expanding and more and more students are comming into the school.
Tips for prospective students Engage into building up relationship with your professors such as comming to class and ask questions during and outside of class time. Try to balance time so you have a good chunk of time to study and don't get behind reading schedule. Always stay ahead of the game such as know your assignments' due dates in advance or any other major projects so you can plan out accordingly. Beside focusing on academic, I encourage you to have at least one extracurricular activities and clubs in the campus as a way to gain experiences while release stress from school's work.
What to do for fun Go to gym to play a wide range of sports such as soccer, badminton, volleyball, basketball... or can go to work out which is next to the gym. In the summer, if you prefer enjoying the nice weather and feeling the late afternoon breeze, there is a beautiful Japanese Garden for students to enjoy the serenity of the combination of water, trees, bridges, rocks...
Clubs and Activities Have a wide range of activities and clubs ranging from diversity clubs, dance club to profession clubs such as Nursing club and technology club. Those who want to set up their own club can easily done so with the help of the students' working there.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Normandale Community College tutoring center has provided me with the skills and assistance to obtain higher grades. The school is welcoming with information and helps desks. The many food stands keep me nourished with the calories I need to stay energized to continue learning.
Tips for prospective students Give yourself a tour before the day of your classes to get familiar with the school and where your classes will be.
Be on time, unlike high school if you're not on time no one is there to hold your hand and tell you what you missed.
Be friendly, no one likes a new school, so make friends as well as people that have attended previously.Academic Rigor The professors provide me with the tools to learn, and when I still don't understand what is being taught, the tutoring center and math center assist me greatly.
Dorm Life No dorms, it's a community collede.
Food and Dining I do not eat much because i tend to bring my own snacks and lunch to save money, but the food i do eat there is cooked by a chef in front you of, you have the power to add and take out ingredients which you do not desire.
What to do for fun The student Kopp has a pool table that students actively engage in daily. The school store hold just about every craving for a snack you may have. The Kopp center is a place to meet new friends, hang out with current friends and relaxing place to be in between classes.
Bang for the buck The counseling office might end up being your best friend the way in ended up being mine. The counselors are friendly and answer your questions and help fix your problems.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On the very last week of school a out door fun day was held which had barbeque food catered from a restaurant, kareoke, and games, and a hot wing eating contest which stirred up a huge crowd.
Great for these types of students No matter if you prefer arts, math, history, music or embracing about your culture there is a club for you and a class that fits your preferences.
Clubs and Activities I am involved in the Black Student Alliance (BSA) which focuses on bringing students of African decent together and becoming leaders to better the school and community. Many clubs help the school. Finding people with similar traits as you can help you find friends as well as looks great on a college application or scholarship.
Greek Life There is no greek life.
Campus Safety If you keep your belonging with you, you should have no problems. Security is constantly roaming the parking lots and the buildings.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The campus is small enough that you are able to have a very in depth relationship with your teachers and classmates, but it is large enough that you don't feel crowded when walking through the halls. Every teacher in that school shares the same genuine interest of wanting their students to not only pass a class, but to excel in the material so much that they could teach others about it. The diversity at Normandale is so vast that students not only get an academic education, but a world education.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to make an appointment with an academic advisor as soon as you can; just to make sure that you have at least a basic check list of what classes you need to take to get your major. Go to the scholarship office as well, because I am sure that students will find at least a scholarship or two that fits to their planned career.
Academic Rigor class toughness is generally straight forward for Normandale classes. The basic intro classes (i.e. freshmen comp, college algebra, U.S. history, etc.) are very straight forward in how the material is taught; all you need to do is to take general notes and you will pass the class. But, in upper level classes (i.e. organic chemistry, calculus based physics, etc.) those classes can be very challenging at times; which is to be expected for upper level course work.
Food and Dining Normandale did just renovate the student center and the cafeteria; so the dining options there are phenomenal
What to do for fun There are plenty of student organizations there for students to get involved in; such as math club, pottery club, tae kwon do, dance, etc
Bang for the buck The tuition rates at Normandale are AMAZING compared to local 4 year institutions. In many cases the tuition at Normandale is less than half that of tuition at a 4 year institution while taking the same courses.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Normandale does have a traditional Japanese garden on the north side of campus
Great for these types of students STEM majors, language majors, English majors
Clubs and Activities anything from dance, to politics, is in the list of Normandale clubs and organizations
Greek Life The only Greek organization at Normandale is the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Normandale has the Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter of PTK.
Campus Safety There has never been any student safety incidents at Normandale since I have been attending. At least a 2 or 3 times a day you will see a campus police officer or two patrolling the halls/parking lots; which I imagine is a good deterrent for any potential trouble makers

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Not a very fun school to attend, but useful if you are just trying to take generals. Classes aren't very hard, but when the teachers aren't very tech savvy it's hard to keep track of your grades.
Tips for prospective students Get ready for another high school-ey experience.
Academic Rigor Not very hard, unless you get a crappy teacher.
Dorm Life No dorms.
Food and Dining One small cafe which I have never eaten at. And a few vending machines.
What to do for fun Go home?
Bang for the buck Its pretty affordable with financial aid.
Great for these types of students High school dropouts or GED holders.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Normandale is a great starter school for anyone interested in just starting with their generals. They have many great programs and areas of interest for you to explore and they are very diverse. Transfer to other Minnesota colleges and universities is also made very easy through their MNTC program.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking to get generals done it's a really cheap way to do it and they transfer almost anywhere in the country. Also try classes that you might be curious about because it's not only cheap but it allows you to explore new areas of interest without paying thousands to try new things.
Academic Rigor All of the professors are very dedicated to what they do and most of them still participate in the activities in which they teach so they are very up to date and expect a lot from students. They expect you to do the work and if you have questions you have to ask, they won't baby anyone regardless of age.
Dorm Life No Dorms.
Food and Dining They just put in a new dining wing with four different areas to choose from and everything is made fresh in front of you. They also have a health bar and two different coffee spots in other places on campus. Its good food and you get a lot for what you pay for.
What to do for fun Lots of clubs and extra-curricular activities to choose from.
Bang for the buck Awesome! The tuition and fees for one semester with 15 credits is about $3,000 dollars, and most people think that because its community college the classes aren't as good but that's totally untrue. The teachers and courses are very challenging.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They have a beautiful Japanese Garden on the north side of campus that is a great place to relax and hang out with friends.
Great for these types of students If you aren't sure what you want to do with your life or you are just returning to school its a great place to explore interests and get back into the college life.
Clubs and Activities Many options! And you can even start your own club if you have ten people who want to do it with you and the school even gives each club a budget for each semester.
Greek Life None
Campus Safety The campus is very safe. The security team is always around and they patrol all of the parking lots. It's really well lit at night and security can be reached from campus phones or they have a direct number. They are also very friendly and the location in a suburb helps. I feel safe walking to the back parking lot at 9 at night by myself, they have lit paths that you can see from quite a distance.

Bang for the buck depends completely on the teacher.
Campus Safety campus safety can be very helpful if you need a jump-start on your car.

Tips for prospective students manage your time wisely, ask questions no matter how stupid you may think it is.
Academic Rigor depending on the professor, college courses can either be really simple or be really challenging. either way, you will have to do your part in order to obtain the grade you wish to have.
Dorm Life there are no dorms.
Food and Dining ncc just expanded with a new building with a new cafeteria. the food is delicious and there is plenty of space.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My professors are very knowledgable and eager to help. I am taking a lot of science and math courses so I can major in Biology, and go on to pharmacy school.
Am enjoying being here I love how close Normandale is to my home. I enjoy taking classes here and hanging out in the Kopp Student Center.
Bang for the buck Normandale is a great, cheaper alternative to a four year college. You can take classes at a less expensive price, and if you choose you can transfer your credits to a four year college!
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships as soon as possible!
Pay attention in class, do your work, and study for exams. In college, it is hard to get points, and many professors don't give you many opportunities to earn them. Often times the only opportunity to earn points is on exams.Great for these types of students Normandale is great for students who still want to live at home, or for those who don't know yet what they want to major in.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Yes the teachers at Normandale are very helpful and friendly. Normandale is a good cheap alternative to traditional 4 year colleges. Some of my past teachers have been teachers at st. Thomas and the university of Minnesota as well.
Am enjoying being here The campus is small enough that it is easy to find where you have to be. There are many opportunities to get involved in intramural activities whether your interests be sports or other clubs such as drama or science.
Bang for the buck There are many scholarships available which make going to Normandale inexpensive. Many people that I know have attended Normandale for free based on their financial aid.
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships right away. To become familiar with the building take a tour of the place or get involved in PSEO in your High School as it is an easy way to get credits and stay ahead of schedule.
Great for these types of students Students that enjoy small interactive classrooms will love Normandale. With such a small campus it is a fun place to relax and meet new people in the student center.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am, but I did take a couple courses that were similar to those that I have taken in high school.
Am enjoying being here I am enjoying being here. I've taken a variety of courses that go towards my generals.
Bang for the buck This is a community college, so the price is determined based on what courses you apply for and the number of credits you have. Courses can be anywhere from one (1) to five (5) credits. If you apply for financial aid, you could get most of it covered.
Tips for prospective students Apply for your courses early when you can, courses fill up fast. Order your books as soon as you can, and pick them up before your courses start. If you are an independent student, take at least one online course. They are good because you get the whole semester's assignments, and due dates, and you can work at your own pace. But make sure you get your assignments in on time!!
Great for these types of students This school is good for anyone that is not sure what they want to major in; want to start with generals to save money on those courses when they transfer; for people that want to earn more education for work; and pretty much anyone that wants to further their education should start here.
