Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This school has some of the best teachers out there. They are really friendly. They truly want to help you succeeded.
Am enjoying being here It is a great place to really get to know people. There are many activities for you to do. They have every activity to do.
Bang for the buck The money spent on tuition is well worth it. You will really get a good education fro your money
Tips for prospective students Some tips for all the prospective students is that if you study you will do very well here. If you do not like the idea of big classes you should start out at one of the branches.
Great for these types of students What is great for these students is that they will get the best education in the nation.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot You won't believe the opportunities you have here at Ohio State. There are over 160 academic programs available. I enrolled with an undeclared major, but wasn't nervous about it because ultimately whatever you go into you will be successful. The classes have great professors who can be challenging but are here to help you become the best.
Am enjoying being here I see Ohio State as its own city within the city of Columbus. They have almost any intramural sport you can think of. There are clubs and activities for everyone from all different backgrounds, making it pretty easy to find where you fit in. The diversity of all the students is amazing. You can meet someone with a new story almost everyday. It is as fun as you make it.
Bang for the buck The price is kind of high, but not unmanageable. In state is cheaper, and with help scholarships, loans, and/or grants it isn't bad at all. You get an excellent education, outstanding experiences, and incredible memories.
Tips for prospective students 1. Get involved in something: a club, sport, organization, church, etc. It is the fastest and best way to meet people.
2. Keep a schedule. There is a lot of freedom here, so its best to balance you academics and your activities.
3. Go to office hours - this is challenging the professor to teach you. Office hours and review sessions are the best places for help (especially in large lectures).
4. Stand out. Network yourself. Meet professors and administrators. Get to know people for who they are, not just what they do. Who you know does matter.Great for these types of students Great for hard workers who are able to set goals and want to be successful. Also good for those who love to meet new people. The amount of people is overwhelming at first, but you get adjusted to it pretty quickly.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ohio State makes learning interesting. With an intelligent, research-experienced staff, students have the opportunity to learn relevant information from people who have been there, done that, so to speak.
Am enjoying being here With a campus this large, there are infinite opportunities to meet people and get involved. There is never a dull moment; from varsity sports to traditions like the Mirror Lake jump, there really is something for everyone.
Bang for the buck While college tuition is expensive, Ohio State has some of the lower rates in the state. Also, you really are paying for the experience here. Students will get what they paid for and more with the lifelong education and memories they acquire at Ohio State.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! This is the easiest way to meet new people, aside from living in the dorms. This way you can meet people with the same interests as you. Also, do not be overwhelmed by the size of the school at first--instead, take advantage of everything a larger college has to offer.
Great for these types of students Great for students who like working hard and meeting new people. Also great for those who like the excitement of urban life while maintaining the comfort of being on a college campus.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ohio State has helped me immensely in gaining real world experience for my major. I am in early childhood education and within the first couple weeks there I obtained a job at Ohio State's Child Care Program. In your first year at Ohio State you will take a survey class that will help you with scheduling classes, deciding on and applying for a major/minor, how to use the resources available at OSU (such as library databases), and how to adjust to life on campus. While this class will help you with the start of your college career, it is up to you as a student to determine how your college years will go.
Ohio State has helped me to grow as a person and a student. In high school, I had my parents around, consistently telling me to get my work done, checking up on my grades, etc. Now I live at school, two hours away from them and I have to motivate myself to get my work done, study and get good grades. Ohio State will not completely throw you to the wolves with no help but they will not hold your hand either. When I graduate from OSU, I am confident that I will be ready for the real world and ready to find a job right after graduation.Am enjoying being here Ohio State has such an enormous campus which may be overwhelming at first, but once you start your first quarter, campus feels like home. Your first quarter classes are in five different buildings at the most, so learning five buildings is not too difficult at all. Once you are consistently walking to your classes for a few weeks, you learn the area so quickly. Classes that are big lectures with hundreds of people also have recitation classes which consist of a small group from the lecture who meet a few times a week so you can get a more personalized classroom experience.
Professors are really helpful with any questions that you have and if there are any problems with your professor, there are higher authorities that are always willing to help (this I know from experience).
There are so, so many ways to get involved at Ohio State as well. There are many groups that include club sports, intramural sports, greek life, and many different academic and extracurricular activity clubs are available at Ohio State. You name it, they probably have it and if they don't, you can create a group of your own.
After academics and extracurricular activities, there is a great night life at Ohio State. There are so many people around, many restaurants, movie theaters, music venues, etc. There is never a dull moment at Ohio State.Bang for the buck College is expensive, and yes, I would like for it to be cheaper. However, especially for in-state tuition, Ohio State is one of the cheaper alternatives. Especially with financial aid, scholarships and grants, tuition is a lot cheaper.
Tips for prospective students Come in to Ohio State or any college ready to work, it is not simple and it is different than high school for sure. However, do not feel guilty about having fun, relaxing and making friends though either!
Great for these types of students Ohio State is great for those that love the big city, or lots of activity going on around them. The more independent student may find Ohio State a much better fit for them.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers here are true professionals. They are experts in their respective fields, and really take the time to make sure you understand the material. The TA's are also very helpful; having just completed the course only a little while ago, they can relate to students and explain things in an easy manner.
Am enjoying being here This is THE place to be. No matter who you are, you will find something here for you to do, whether it's an intramural sport, a student government position, or a club. You meet someone new everyday, and the people here are just so kind.
Bang for the buck In-state or out-of-state, you will get the bang for your buck. THE Ohio State University is a top university for a reason. Their pursuit of excellence is unmatched in my experience. You can rest assured that the money you spend has been well spent when that degree is in your hand and employers are lining up for a chance to get you.
Tips for prospective students Stay within yourself, and keep things in perspective. This is a huge school without a doubt, but that doesn't mean you don't matter. Never forget to study; for those of you in high school who didn't really study but still received good grades (like me!), this will change. If you keep academics first, everything else will fall into place afterwards.
Great for these types of students Honestly? ANYONE AND EVERYONE!! As an out-of-state student, I was a little wary at first, but once I visited the campus and spoke ith students, I knew I was making the right choice. For international students, I don't know if there is a school that is more diverse than THE Ohio State University. Students from pretty much every country are represented here; just the other day I met a Dutch girl! And for in-state students, the school is right there waiting for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Faculty and staff here are really knowledgeable about whichever subject they are teaching. Though some classes are rather large, there are still ways to get help. A larger class size made me more independent and reliant on my note-taking abilities.
Am enjoying being here I have met so many interesting people! I meet people everywhere, the dining hall, my dorm, classes, and through other activities. There is bound to be something at Ohio State for everyone!
Bang for the buck The courses are challenging and are well worth the money being spent on them. College isn't going to be cheap, no matter where you go. The lower price for a high rate institution such as Ohio State makes it well worth every penny.
Tips for prospective students You would have to really try to not meet people. Make sure you develop good study habits as they are crucial to doing well. Get to know your professors, sit in the front, go to office hours, and meet your teaching assistants. Get everything on a schedule so you still have time for fun things besides studying; that said, it's very easy to get sidetracked.
Great for these types of students Focused, dedicated, and resourceful students do well at Ohio State. Though the large size is a little intimidating at first, you'll soon adjust and driven students know how to maintain the grades.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All of my teachers so far have been excellent. I have learned a lot in all of my classes. The professors really know how to make even the most boring material interesting.
Am enjoying being here OSU has become my home. I love the whole atmosphere of the big campus and all the things constantly going on here. There is always something to do or some new person to meet.
Bang for the buck Since it is a state school the tuition is not too bad. You get the feel that your getting a lot for your money-a good education, and a good experience.
Tips for prospective students Get involved. There are so many opportunities at Ohio State that it is a shame to miss out on. Also do not be intimidated by the size of the campus, once you learn your way around it does not appear to be as big, I like it a lot because there are so many different opportunities, activities, and different types of people that you do not get bored.
Great for these types of students Everyone! There are so many different people here that everyone is bound to fit in somewhere. There are also so many different clubs and activities offered through the university that everyone is able to find something they enjoy to do.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Ohio State University is one of the top universities when it comes to public education. The educators are all more than qualified and are more than willing to help you if you are in need of it. Not to mention, they keep the classes fun and interesting too.
Am enjoying being here The Ohio State University has a plethora of activities and clubs to get involved in, and it makes your experience here so much more enjoyable. You build great quality friendships through these activities and clubs. Also, because the university is located in a large metropolitan city, just about everything is at your disposal. Though, you don't really have to venture off campus at all to find exciting things to do, as campus itself is like a small city.
Bang for the buck When it comes to education and price this is the best value you will find. To find a high quality education at a price lower than $10,000 per year is unheard of. You get the same quality education as a private college or university at a fraction of the cost.
Tips for prospective students If you are considering becoming an Ohio State Buckeye, I strongly encourage it. I was hesitant at first because of the large size of the university. But in all honesty, once you're here the size isn't even that apparent. Sure, there are some classes with large student sizes, but that doesn't detract from the amazing education. There are also some classes with very few people, so you get a mix a both. Also, there is a great sense of unity with the student body at OSU. One of the main reasons is the stadium, The Horseshoe. When students gather together in the stadium there is something magical that happens amongst the students; coming together for a common reason really unites the student body. You'll always have friends to do something with, you'll always have something to do, and you're guaranteed a good mix of education and fun if you join us here at OSU and become a Buckeye.
Great for these types of students The Ohio State University caters to a diverse group of students. This school is great for people of any racial, ethic, religious, or cultural backgrounds as there is something for absolutely everyone. There is no one particular student that isn't right for OSU. I encourage everyone to at least thoroughly check out Ohio State as it is a phenomenal university as it is a very respected institution of higher education all while allowing students to enjoy what comes along with college life.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This university has some of the best research, academic, and knowledge growth opportunities in the country. The learning goes way beyond the classroom, the lecture hall, and the library. The best learning here is found with classmates in a coffee shop studying for an exam together, through discussions after class, and through the experiences gained at such a beautiful campus. The lecturers develop new ways of teaching students, not just from book reading, but from adapting information into hands-on learning. I have gained not just an academic education, but a wealth of knowledge that I can keep after graduation.
Am enjoying being here To come here may have been the best decision I had ever made. I still get a smile on my face when I walk through the Oval, the main part of campus, because I know I've found a home. It is so easy to find your niche at a school so diverse with so many offers. Although it's considered one of the biggest schools in the nation, it really does become small when you become involved in an organization. They offer so many student organizations, inter-murals, classes, seminars, and other activities that it's impossible not to find something you're passionate about.
Bang for the buck For a public university, the quality of an education here is insurmountable. Not only have they kept the price of tuition frozen for 3 years in a row, but the administration here has offered so many unique opportunities to make every penny worth spending on college life here. The dorm life is a blast, classes are engaging, and the university faculty is really easy to interact with. This university, in my book, is top notch.
Tips for prospective students * Eat on campus as much as you can. Some people say the food is jusy okay (I thought it was incredible!), but they regret not having a meal plan later!
* Get involved with an organization. I got involved as soon as I came here last year. Joining Undergraduate Student Government allowed me to learn how this university works and I met so many amazing people!
*Go Greek! Although it's just a small portion of the student population, this is a great way to interact with the community as a whole because there are so many volunteering, social and academic opportunities through Greek Life!
* Study! Go to class and let yourself become engaged in discussion. You don't have to feel awkward about answering a question in class or asking one anymore. It's encouraged. Then, study for exams in the amazing new library! It's so quiet and there's lots of staff to help you with whatever you need.
*Find people to talk to. Talk to advisers, your tour guide, or alumni. Talk to professors and TAs and GAs. Get to know them. You will never know when you'll need them to be around!Great for these types of students This school is best for students who:
Are driven
Are determined to have a great career
Love living in a city
Are spirited
Love diversity
Are from different backgrounds
Are from different walks of life
Love experiencing new things
Are focused
Are goal-oriented
Dream of coming to a big school (like me!)
Find happiness in many things

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Pre-med is not a major here, but I am pre-Medical Technology (on the Pre-med track). The classes are definitely challenging, but I have learned so much already, and I'm only in my second quarter here! There are fun classes to take too, like Chocolate Science and Yoga!
Am enjoying being here Literally ANYTHING you need is right on campus. It's not as big as it seems once you get to know your way around! Don't worry about getting lost; it happens to everyone. There are sooo many opportunities for you to get involved, and there are over 900 clubs. One is the Buckeye Barbeque Club. Score.
Bang for the buck No college is cheap, but OSU is not expensive compared to others! The meal plans are a little steep, but then again, there are many many places to eat at with good food on campus. Included in the cost is a payment to use the RPAC (recreation and physical activity center) and the Ohio Union Activity fee. They show movies for free every week, plus celebrities come a lot!
Tips for prospective students Don't let the size of The Ohio State University scare you. The tours are a must! Keep working hard for the rest of your senior year; I know, you are SO ready to be gone, but you're almost done!
Great for these types of students ~Undecided (can explore many majors and switch at any time)
~Doesn't mind large classes for the first year or so
~Loves to have fun but also be well balanced with the studying ;)Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The different types of classes offered allow for a lot of variety and choice. The recitations allow for a small class size on a big campus.
Am enjoying being here I love this campus. There is always something new to discover, whether it be a hangout, place to study, or piece of history.
Bang for the buck Tuition is a little steep, but the education and instructors are top notch.
Tips for prospective students Get a campus map, it helps. Keep your Buck-ID handy you can ride COTA for free with it.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot So excited for the opportunities that await! There are so many amazing professors to learn from.
Will enjoy being here Great environment. The city is just the right size to have something to do on the weekend yet still feel 100% safe.
Bang for the buck Pretty generous with scholarships. Wish I had a bit more, but I'm sure as an upperclassmen departments will award some.
Tips for prospective students Don't be intimidated by the size of the student body! Check out the 11th floor of the library. All the conference rooms in the student union are open for students to use whenever.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I easily did very well in high school and really had to learn how to more efficiently study here. As a pre-medicine student the classes are very difficult and it takes a lot of work to keep a high GPA. Be prepared to teach yourself a lot, and you cannot afford to be afraid of asking for help.
Am enjoying being here Campus life is good, living in a single room on campus is even better. Campus is beautiful in the fall but the long walks to class are COLD in the winter!
Bang for the buck Tuition has just increased and yet I have seen 5 different advisers, none of whom have been overly helpful. I've had a lot of foreign, brand-new PHd profs who don't yet know what they are doing and have 48% class averages on their midterms and finals. I feel like I'm wasting a lot of money.
Tips for prospective students You have to work very hard to stand out here. Get to know you professors and adviser(s). Whatever the university may say, it all comes down to the fact that you really are just a number here, even if you work your butt off.
Great for these types of students Outgoing, used to a large class size, willing to seek out help and prepared to spend hours studying daily (especially if you are a science major)!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The lecture/recitation format of classes allows such a large school to feel like a smaller school and provides the opportunity for personal attention as needed. Professors have generous office hours and are easy to contact through email at most times of the day.
Am enjoying being here There's so much to do on campus, at times I find it hard to choose which activity to become involved in. Lots of activities offer FREE FOOD too!
Bang for the buck Its a great environment for learning, meeting new people and learning too!
Tips for prospective students Don't worry that it is such a big school/campus. You'll quickly find that the friends you make and activities you are involved with will help you to quickly feel at home.
Great for these types of students Just about everyone...there is so much diversity at Ohio State, you'll certainly make new friends and quickly fit right in.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Yes, I am learning so much here. Although we are ran on a quarter schedules with only ten weeks to teach a subject it is manageable. As a freshman just finishing her first quarter, when I started to go to class I thought I was going to at least no some things, but I didn’t know anything. So I really had to pay attention and go to class or I would miss valuable information. I’m glad to be going to a school that challenges me and not as easy as my high school. This quarter I received a 3.4 and I’m really happy. I feel that the information taught here I can really use in the work force when I graduate.
Am enjoying being here Yes, I really enjoy being here. There is always something to do on campus and with over 500 clubs to choose from at times it can be over whelming and what you want to do. Of course of football game days it gets really hectic with all the people that come allover just to see the game. I’m so glad my dorm is next to the stadium because I can just watch out my window. You create many friends here because everyone is so nice. If I’m not in my dorm I’m either in my friends, the RPAC, at a club or sitting in the oval or the union. Plus, my school is in an urban city, and I know as my top choice of college this was one of my qualifications in picking my school. I would never transfer because I’m so happy here.
Bang for the buck I believe it is a bang for the buck. From coming from DC and applying and receiving scholarships, it is well worth it to pay for a college experience at OSU
Tips for prospective students Creating bonds with your teachers (because I created bonds they have already written me recommendations).
Visit the teachers and assistance hours; (they get bored a lot because now one hardly comes).
Go to the library; (there is a library on campus for every major department).
Go to review sections they have before a midterm; they are really helpful.
Get involved it is the fastest and best way to meet people with the same interest as you.
Keep a schedule because you are going to want to go to so many things you might not remember something.Great for these types of students It is great for everyone because it is so diverse here and people are friendly and there are many resources on campus to help you with anything you need.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have learned a lot in the sense of text book material and information about myself. In my first year, I held the status of full time student, part time employee, and active member of campus organizations. The people that I have worked with through The Ohio State are some of the most encouraging, respectable and helpful people I have ever met. The students and faculty that I have worked with have become friends and people that I will be able to use as resources for the rest of my life.
Am enjoying being here Everyone is extremely helpful and the things that I am learning while in school directly relate to my life outside of school. I can tell in my everyday life that the education that I am getting is already making a huge difference. I am much more confident and my life is more organized. The feeling that Ohio State gives you is very empowering.
Bang for the buck Tuition is expensive and hard for me to pay, coming from a large family, but the education and the experience that I am getting from being a student here outweighs the loans that I have to take out to pay for my education. The friendships and resources that I gain from being a student here will help me immensely in the future and I know that I will easily be able to pay off my loans and jump right back on my feet upon graduation. All of the professors that I have had thus far have been extremely helpful, so long as you approach them, and I have kept in contact with some even after the course was complete. I have felt like I have learned a lot even from the GEC classes that I have taken in my first year.
Tips for prospective students 1. Don't hold back; My biggest problem at the beginning of my freshman year was that I was too afraid to take advantage of resources that the school was offering, like tutoring. It is easier to find a friend and go to a new place for the first time with someone, but sometimes you just can't work that out. Just go, the people who are there, are there because they want to be and they are truly interested in helping you. Don't be nervous to check out something new just because you are a new student.
2. Get involved; Some of the most helpful students I have ever met are those that I met through student organizations. They are the ones that are in school because they want the experience and the education, not to goof off. These students gave me some of the best advice on college in general, good and bad professors, and events that I might be interested in.
3. Know when to say no; While it is important to get involved, don't over do it. You can only do so much and your course work should come first. Make sure you still leave yourself plenty of time to dedicate to just working on course work.
4. Talk to your professors; Take advantage of office hours if you feel like you are falling behind or don't understand something, and do it right away. The professors are all very helpful and want you to succeed, that is why they offer times that you can individually talk to them.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This University has so many different classes to offer. Depending on the department, the faculty can be incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. With their required office hours, students can visit teachers and get help when then need it.
Am enjoying being here The campus here is amazingly beautiful and the school spirit is overpowering. We are close enough to downtown Columbus that we can just hop on a bus if we want to go to a nice restaurant, see a play, or just enjoy the downtown atmosphere.
Bang for the buck This school is most worth it if you take a lot of classes per quarter. We are not charged based on credit hours, but on a quarterly basis. If you have some room in your schedule you can always take a fun class like Ice Skating, or Riflery.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you try to get involved in some sort of group or organization on campus. College is nothing without new friends to share it with. Getting an on campus job is a great way to meet new people and make some money at the same time :)
Great for these types of students Ohio State has something for almost any type of student. The campus has the best combination for work and play, and even great rec facilities to work out in. If you just want to relax, you can hang out on the oval and enjoy the sun.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am an industrial designer, and I have to say, the program here is top-notch. I am leaning so much about good design, what makes it good, and how to improve it for future generations.
Am enjoying being here The activities and the social networks (physical) and student groups are numerous, and active. This is one advantage to being of the of the biggest and best schools in the country. I am enjoying every bit of the time I spend here. Other fellow students are fun, and engaging.
Bang for the buck I am not sure how much other schools cost, but I know that for my yearly tuition, I get access to so many things for free, and discounts on almost everything. Public transportation is free, and if you take advantage of even a fraction of what they offer to students, it is well worth the price. Plus the experience is fabulous, and that is hard to put a price on.
Tips for prospective students Meet as many people as you can, and make connections, because many of the faculty and staff (and even students) will bend over backwards for someone they know likes them. I am constantly asking favors, and asking for seats in full classes, and making exceptions, because I have made a lot of connections. This might be true for other colleges, but I know it's true here.
Great for these types of students I think the diversity of this college is suitable for every type of student. I mean every type of student. You just gotta find a good strong major (and there's plenty.)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Many of the subjects are fascinating and you can take classes in almost any subject you could ever dream up (skydiving, anyone?). The course work can be challenging, depending on the subject, but either way it will be a fantastic education. All the teachers really enjoy their subjects and you leave each course very well prepared for the next course or for applications of the material in the working world.
Am enjoying being here It's great to meet everyone here because there's such a diversity of people and a wealth of interesting people. No matter who you are, you can find people with similar interests, and you can explore those interests in any of OSU's approximately 120,343,652,002 clubs (really about 600). I am always busy, which can be stressful, but it's something I chose to do and I'm loving it. There are so many ways to have fun and get involved, it's really fantastic.
Bang for the buck There's a lot to be said for OSU's efforts to keep costs low, but there aren't always rational explanations for the fees, and OSU tends to spend a lot of money on projects that aren't always the best for the students. Having said that, there are only a million opportunities to get involved at OSU, and if you have the drive to do so, you can really get a lot out of your experience here. So if you study and join groups, the money is definitely worth it.
Tips for prospective students Keep your grades up, as always, and don't blow off OSU as an easy school to get into. It's really been upping its standards every year and that reflects the increasing quality of education at OSU. Also, once you've committed to OSU, look up some of the clubs and organizations. Don't wait until the Fall Student Involvement fair to find opportunities, because I guarantee that you won't be able to make it to all the clubs you think are interesting if you don't know which clubs are interesting to you beforehand; otherwise, you'll end up listening to a lot of shpiels about clubs you're not interested in while missing out on the ones you do find interesting. OSU is a really great school, but you need to be a little bit more prepared before you come here so that you aren't overwhelmed by all the opportunities. And schedulizer(.com) is awesome, make use of it!
Great for these types of students Active, involved, intelligent, research-oriented, curious, initiators, big-picture people, athletic, hard-working, dedicated, the movers and shakers of today and tomorrow.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot College is much different than high school because each class lasts only ten weeks rarther than the whole school year. This might seems scary, but as long as you study and go to class, you will pass and at the same time - learn!
Am enjoying being here I am really enjoying the academics, but being away from my family and friends is very difficult for me. (But that really has nothing to do with the actual college.)
Bang for the buck Granted, my parents are paying my tuition, but there are many great opporitunities that are provided by simply being a student.
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships offered by the school. I didn't the first year, and I know it really could have helped my parents out with the bill.
Great for these types of students Outgoing, curious, interested in research

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot If you take the time to talk to the professors, you find that they are actually really cool. I just had lunch with an Italian professor the other day, and she is helping me with my major search (I'm undecided). She inspired me to minor in Spanish, a subject I was ready to drop after this quarter. Now I have plans to study abroad my junior year. It wouldn't have even crossed my mind had it not been for her.
The switch from high school schoolwork to college schoolwork made me really nervous, because I never had much work in high school. In reality, it wasn't bad. I was placed in a few refresher courses, so it wasn't a ton of new material pushed in my face while trying to acclimate myself to college. Don't worry about it (really, don't), but get a planner! Staying organized in college is key.Am enjoying being here College is sooo much better than high school. Since OSU is such a big school, it's easy to start over (and again, and again; why not?). There are ALWAYS friends to be made here, and everyone is game for dinner. All you have to do is ask!
There's a place (and club) for everyone at OSU. Humans vs. Zombies just ended here, an official activity of OSU, which was a week long Nerf-gun battle of over 800 students played throughout the campus. Crazy clubs like this (and BBQ club!), along with intramural sports, sororities and fraternities, language and business clubs, give everyone an opportunity to feel right at home.Bang for the buck Born and raised in Columbus, I receive in-state tuition, along with half off tuition (perks of family members working at the university!). Since I was undecided, I felt that OSU had the best resources for me in relation to cost. While I can't speak for out-of-staters (which is about 7 times what I pay), I feel OSU is the best university I could have chosen based on my budget.
Tips for prospective students Live in the dorms! Even though I literally live 5 minutes away, I didn't want to commute. I'm so glad I chose to live on campus! You get used to the communal bathrooms (the honors dorms have pod style- a bathroom all to yourself!) and you make about a billion friends in the first week.
At first, I didn't want to have a meal plan. They're a little expensive; I would have preferred to have cash. But now that I'm using it I've changed my mind. There are about 17 different places that take OSU's meal plan on campus, and you get a lot of food for one swipe. I usually bring things back to the dorm to save for later.
Join at least one club - getting involved is easier when you have to go be social!
If you don't like walking, bring a bike (I used to complain like crazy, but you get used to it). But if you love being in shape, the RPAC is basically the best gym ever (with the best food and smoothies!)Great for these types of students I know it sounds cliche, but OSU really is for all types of students. The size of the school may seem intimidating, but it really doesn't seem so big once you're here. I'm always running into floormates around campus. You can be whoever you want to be, and don't be afraid to show your true colors. I'm 100% positive someone else on this campus already has a club with your name written all over it!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ohio State is one of the best schools in the nation. The academics are definitely up to par in order to maintain that kind of reputation. Grades are so important, and classes are intense because it is not like high school where everyone has to be there. Those who are in college, at such a prestigious university, actually have a drive and desire to be there. It is a whole new world that can only leave you wanting more knowledge.
Am enjoying being here Since Ohio State is so large, it can get lonely at times. I think the key to this is to really get involved quickly. Do not count on your high school friends to be your social circle anymore, because more often than not, you will not see them. Everyone has their own agenda and everyone has a different schedule. Learn to be self-reliant and be eager and open to making new friends.
Bang for the buck Especially if you are an in state student, Ohio State is definitely reasonably priced. More so if you are going to live at home or off campus, since dorm living is expensive. Tuition is definitely worthwhile because you not only get a great education, but you get access to a multitude of different things.
Tips for prospective students Don't party your life away! Ohio State is generally also known as a social partying school. Make sure you focus on academics a lot, especially the first year.
Great for these types of students Ohio State can be great for anyone who is ready and willing to take initiative to make their college experience what they want it to be.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There is a lot of learning to be had in college, and not all of it goes on in the classroom. So far, the value of what I have learned outside the classroom at Ohio State has been equally, if not more, valuable than the GEC courses I completed autumn quarter. The classes I took were challenging, but manageable, and my survey course was very useful (every freshman takes a survey course introducing you to your major and campus resource; there is also an undecided survey to help students choose).
Outside of the classroom there have been many lessons to learn as well. I live in a Quad on West campus so learning to live with others is something I've picked up on quickly. Another very important thing to practice is time management. I highly recommend google calendar as it has helped me immensely when balancing my schedule.Am enjoying being here There is a lot to love about Ohio State. The people, the tradition, the environment. I can guarantee you will be proud to be a buckeye in no time. The downside here is I don't love my dorm situation. Like I said, I live on West Campus, but most freshman live on South. Personally, I feel like I am missing out on a lot socially by not living with the majority of the freshman at the university. But there are benefits to living on West; including air conditioning, great shower:person ratio, and if you're not in a quad, space (the quads are cheaper, though).
The lesson here is to turn in your housing info ASAP if you choose Ohio State, so you can live in your dorm of choice.Bang for the buck I am paying In-State tuition, and when looking at the alternatives, it is easy to see why I think that OSU provides the best bang for the buck. The other schools I considered were OU and Miami of Ohio.
At OU the tuition is cheaper, but the room and board is more expensive. The scholarships I would have received at OU were greater than what I am receiving at OSU, but I believe my degree at Ohio State will be more valuable in the long run.
Miami has a fantastic business program, which was very enticing as a current business major. Miami is slightly more expensive, but what I really don't like about Miami is the general personality of the student body (preppy, high strung). I won't expand too much, but Miami was not right for me.
I should add that Ohio State's undergraduate business program has been ranked 16th overall and 7th among public universities by U.S. News and World Report.Tips for prospective students Be comfortable with the fact you are not going to know how to manage your time effectively the first few weeks. It takes practice (I'm still learning). Do your best to limit time wasted on naps (big problem, they are your new best friend once you get to college) and facebook ect. Try your best to go to sleep at a normal time (though you will fail). Get Involved with campus organizations! They repeat this over and over, but seriously, it has been a great avenue to meet people and have fun. Go to the huge get involved fair the first week of school, it's a must.
Great for these types of students The people who will be the most successful at Ohio State are self motivated. Ohio State is BIG. You have to work a little harder to stand out.
Downside: Opportunities might not be spoon-fed to you.
Upside: Because Ohio State is so big it is able to offer an overwhelming amount of opportunities. You have to keep your eyes open and be proactive when looking for them.
Imagine opportunities are apples on an apple tree. Now you can wait patiently for the apples to fall from the tree; or, you can put in some effort, grab a ladder, and have your choice of the amazing variety of apples in all shapes and sizes on the tree.
Ok maybe that was a mediocre metaphor, but I think it gets the job done.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The workload in major focused classes is more than most are used to, but the professors are great. There are many opportunities to get help if the workload is too much. You can get a go to office hours or join a study group. There is no reason for someone not to learn.
Am enjoying being here There are so many things to do around campus. The school offers a number of student organizations to get involved in. Because it is such a big school, you have better chances at meeting people you will like. The parties are great too.
Bang for the buck If you are an in-state student, tuition is a lot cheaper, than if you come from out of state. Although tuition seems expensive, they offer many scholarships and financial aid.
Tips for prospective students 1. Get involved and meet people.
2. Prioritize and manage your time.
3. Get to know your professors.
4. Get help early if you need it. Don't wait until the end of the quarter.Great for these types of students OSU is great for students with many different talents. It is a great place for school-spirited students. Also for students with good work ethics and those who want to be successful.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Ohio State University has so many programs and a great deal amount of course work. Because they are a liberal arts school you do more than just your major coursework here. In fact, you also take General Education Curriculum courses that may have nothing to do with your major at all. But the benefits of doing this make you more well rounded and you don't have to go through a long rigorous process if you change your major.
Am enjoying being here There are so many things to do here at the Ohio State University. There is the RPAC where one can work out at, The Ohio Union where one can chill and study. But there also hundreds of clubs and students organizations here. Even if you're not the coolest guy or gal at your high school you can find your bliss or niche here at The Ohio State University. Sure the campus is one of the largest in the nation but that just means more options for you. Once you find something you like the campus becomes much smaller and have a more home like feel to it.
Bang for the buck OSU is quite expensive from some people's perspective. However, compare to Private Colleges OSU becomes a lot more cheaper. Sure they charge you around $9,000 in tuition with room and board to match it. Not to mention you have to get a meal plan if you live on campus and on tap of that health care. However, OSU offers a lot of financial aid to help with cost. The most important thing for prospective students to know is that there money is not being wasted. The money goes to making your life on campus as comfortable as possible. Fees pay for recreation use, activities use, and making your sure you're in top health to take on those midterms.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I was always a good student, but I learned quickly that you really need to apply yourself and study alot to do well and keep up with the fast pace. There are so many resources here to help, advisers, tutors, study groups, etc. that really help to make it more fun to learn
Am enjoying being here Ohio State was the only school I applied to. I am enjoying my experience here immensely including my roommates, new friends, challenging classes, a highly diverse range of activities and Ohio State football. If you do not enjoy being here, then you must be a hermit.
Bang for the buck At first it seemed that it was pricey for a state school, but I have found out that with all the resources and their emphasis on the first year experience, it is well worth the price. I never thought the largest campus in America could ever feel like a small town, but here it is. This quickly becomes your home.
Tips for prospective students I did not apply to other schools, but they really make you feel wanted. Communication during the entire school search, enrollment, orientation, special programs made me feel special, like they cared about me and not filling a slot. The first year experience program is fully intended to give you every opportunity to excel in the first year which is the key to a successful college experience. In addition, with internships, study abroad, scholars and honors programs, OSU offers every unique experience that smaller schools would not be able to provide.
Great for these types of students If you come here to have your hand held, this is not the place. Independent minded, self starters and open minded students will excel here. Help is everywhere you turn, but you have to ask. If you like to experience new things with almost no limit on choices, nowhere else provides more.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot With one of the best science and business programs in the country, you will definitely learn everything you will need to know here at OSU. With such a wide variety of classes to choose from, you can really take time to learn something you have always been interested in! I took Ancient Greek During my first year at Ohio State and it was one of the most interesting and fulfilling experiences of my life. Not many other people can say that they can read Homer untranslated!
Am enjoying being here Having just come from a football game at the Shoe, I can definitely say that everyone will enjoy being at Ohio State. Even if football isn't your cup of tea, there are over 1,000 student organizations to choose from! BBQ Club hosted the words longest barbecue, the Renaissance Club played a live game of chess and Weezer and 3OH3 played free concerts courtesy of OUAB. There's no reason to not get involved all over campus! And you will meet people where ever you go.
Bang for the buck I'll admit, college is expensive. But Ohio State has the second cheapest tuition of the top public schools in Ohio! There are plenty of scholarship opportunities that help with the financial burden of being a college student and the Financial Aid office is extremely helpful. You definitely get the most bang for your buck here because, for the extremely low tuition, you get to attend one of the most internationally known institutions in the country. Having the resources and name of Ohio State after graduation will pay for it's self in the end.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are hundreds of opportunities here at OSU. There are over 150 majors plus a lot of minors so you can pursue just about anything. The faculty are great! They are always willing to help students and make time to meet with you if you need help. If you still feel you need more help, there is free tutoring in all types of subjects such as math, chemistry, and writing. Also, the new Tompson Library just opened and it is a great place to study. There are also several other libraries through out campus and some are open 24 hours. If you are a student who is thinking about a career in a medical field this school is great. OSU has a hospital on campus that is ranked as one of the best hospitals in the nation. The hospital is a great teaching hospital and has several volunteer and shadowing opportunities. Also, there are great opportunities for students who would like to become a vet. Currently one of my friends is doing research in the pig barn with faculty. I will be researching over the summer with a Dr on how muscles contract. It is fairly easy to find research here at OSU.
Am enjoying being here I love Ohio State! If you are a student who is looking for a large school with great faculty, where you can meet new people, and participate in extracurricular activities then this school is for you. There are students from all over the world here and you will always be able to find a group of people you enjoy. Also, Ohio State has just about any club you can think of from barbecue club to sports clubs to government. The sports facilities and rec and club sports are also amazing here. With all of these opportunities there is ALWAYS something to do. Even the atmosphere of the campus is great, especially on game days. It is always fun and exciting.
Bang for the buck Ohio State is worth the tuition. It offers great and numerous opportunities in all types of fields. You can do just about anything you want to when you attend OSU. Also, they are always updating buildings to make them more modern. OSU also has cutting edge technology to aid in students learning and research. They really want you to succeed here and will even help you build a solid resume and find a job after you graduate.
Tips for prospective students If you are interested in OSU don't be intimidated by its size. Many people think that it is so huge that they won't be able to find a way to fit in. It may seem huge but once you get here you will find that it is really easy to find where you belong and it will seem much smaller. Also, take advantage of the opportunities. Attend welcome week and try to get involved in clubs or activities that you are interested in. It is a great way to meet people and make friends and to enjoy your time at OSU.
Great for these types of students This school is great for anyone who enjoys the city and a large school. It is especially great for students who are interested in medicine or veterinary medicine due to the hospitals right on campus and all of the volunteer, shadowing, and research opportunities.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Although things are A LOT different from high school learning, the potential to learn here is unlimited. There are so many choices that it is almost overwhelming. You have to be a little more of an independent student here than in high school, but it is very cool. I am learning so much, including learning about myself!
Am enjoying being here It is a blast being on campus. I had the choice of living at home and commuting, or living on campus, but my dad, who graduated from here, wanted me to live on campus at least one year just for the experience of being here. He was so right! The OSU campus life is such an experience and I am having SO much fun.
Bang for the buck OSU isn't the cheapest college out there, but it isn't the most expensive, either. If you consider all of the resources available to me, both academically and socially, it has to be one of the best values out there. Do I sound like a commercial for OSU?
Tips for prospective students Be prepared for how big this place is! You have to walk everywhere, but that is part of the experience. There is so much to do that you have to stay focused and not lose sight of what you are here for-a great education! It will all be worth it in the end.
Great for these types of students This place is great for all types of students, from outgoing to quit and reserved. The choices are limitless so there is something for everyone!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a student in the Freshmen Engineering Honors program here, I can guarantee that you will work hard, learn a ton, and at times actually enjoy your classes. It is amazing what you can learn in a mere ten weeks.
Am enjoying being here Absolutely. There is so much to do on campus, and the professors are interesting. Plus, you would have to work harder to not make friends than to actually make them.
Bang for the buck I applied to some other big name schools whose average yearly cost of attendance was more than twice that of Ohio State's. Now that I've experienced the university, I am convinced that OSU is a great deal, at least for an engineering major. I can't image what some private universities could offer that would be worth an extra $30,000.
Tips for prospective students If you are going into engineering, be prepared to work harder than you ever did in high school. They make sure that you stay busy here, but they treat you really nice (pizza parties at the end of each quarter, anybody?). Also, don't be intimidated by OSU's size. My graduating class was 19 people, and the transition for me was not difficult at all.
Great for these types of students High achievers, those who like to get involved, those who want to broaden their perspective.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot Every single professor and teacher's aid at Ohio State are the cream of the crop. They all had extensive knowledge of their field and where undeniably professional in their execution of said knowledge.
Did enjoy being here Absolutely! Not only does Ohio State offer one of the best educations around but it is also one of the most amazing campuses ever! I have met some of the most amazing people here. Also, the size of the campus adds to its appeal so don't be worried. Being from a small Missouri town and visiting a lot of smaller colleges, I found that the smaller colleges had very little to offer in ways of keeping their students active and happy. At OSU there are a plethora of activities. There's always the amazing, nail-biting football games, the free on-campus movies, all the awesome places to just hang out and chill with friends. This is definitely the college for someone like me - a small town girl looking for a little adventure and excitement, as well as a top dollar education from a premiere university.
Bang for the buck All though the out-of-state costs are a little high the in-state costs are comparable to practically all in-state universities in other states. Also, with resources such as sharing text books with friends or buying supplies from discount stores there is always a way to cut costs and keep a little extra spending money for yourself.
Tips for prospective students Being it is a big school you should make it a habit to walk the route to your classes at the beginning of the quarter before classes commence. If you haven't taken the time to familiarize yourself with the campus you can find yourself lost. So always take a map. And don't worry about asking people for help. Everyone that I've met so far has been willing to help me, no questions asked.
Great for these types of students People looking for a great education.
Small towners looking for a little big-city flare.

Am enjoying being here This is a beautiful campus, and the food is relativity good with lots of options. There are so many fun clubs to join, and the people are nice. There is always something to do.
Bang for the buck Its a competitively priced education. apply for the scholars or honors programs if possible as this will give u extra opportunities
Tips for prospective students Go to the help centers!
The chemistry one is in Celeste and the math is in the math stats building they are open from 9-4 most week days take advantage of them and others on campusGreat for these types of students This is a big school so students need to be self-advocates or you could get lost in the hustle and bustle. This school has a very nice campus with lots of green space. The disability service office is very helpful.

Bang for the buck Best education for a reasonable price: priceless.
Tips for prospective students Look at the school for its worth, not for its reputation in football. Visit the campus (All of it!!) and talk to advisors and those you know who have gone to the university.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The Ohio State University not only helps you grow to reach your dream job, it also helps you grow to be a beneficial person to your community. From the extra assistance in and outside of class to The Best Day Ever events held on campus, your time on the Buckeye Campus is one you will never forget. From freshman to junior I love my campus, I love my fellow buckeyes, and will continue to grow on this fabulous campus.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to get involved with the groups and don't be afraid, commuter or resident, to get to know the great people on campus.
Academic Rigor Some classes are more difficult than others yet for what they rank in difficulty there is unlimited help from the Teaching Assistants and tutors in the tutor rooms.
Dorm Life When first moving on to campus as a freshman you don't really have the option to select roommates and some dorms are much more crowded than others. Despite this, you are exposed to a variety of people that may even be able to help you with class in the future.
Food and Dining Availability for food is very easy. Aside from the dinning halls located on campus there are several cafes in the libraries and major buildings for that quick snack on campus. The campus food is also very vegetarian friendly. Aside from that High Street is not too far away and has lots of good food as well.
What to do for fun There is never a dull day on campus. If you are ever bored look for an event being held by one of the campus groups, take in a movie on the oval, or run and lift for a while at the RPAC.
Bang for the buck Classes are not cheap but the education you receive from instructors and the free tutors that come with these classes create a balance. Aside from the education your tuition covers all things on campus so make sure to take advantage of campus resources.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus With any big campus there are always unusual traditions. OSU: Mirror Lake Jump. Or the slow integration of The Oval Beach. Aside from that check out the Union for great food and Knowlton Hall for the great architecture projects made by the students.
Great for these types of students Ohio State is good for students that are able to process information at a fast pace and are willing to be competitive with fellow classmates.
Clubs and Activities There is not a group on campus unrepresented. From Engineers Without Boarders to Ohio States Grilling Club. Think of it, we got.
Greek Life Though I am not involved with Greek groups their sponsored events are always for a good cause.
Campus Safety Safety is a major concern on campus. We have safety measures for lab and even security boxes for if you feel threatened at any time on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences A school so full of spirit that you can't help but participate. A place where you can learn both academics and about yourself while having the time of your life. An institution dedicated to helping its students succeed.
Academic Rigor I think that the classes here are great for several reasons. While some of the classes are larger, there is usually a recitation class to break the class in smaller groups and make sure each individual understands the material being taught. Also, the professors really seem to care about the material they teach and are always willing to meet with students to help in any way they can. The work loads vary for each class, but are not that difficult as long as you stay on task and don't procrastinate.
Dorm Life Dorms are a great way to live your first year. Ohio State works to put you with roommates who have similar interests and majors, as well as similar personalities. People in your hall and even your building are just as nervous and excited as you to be going to college; they become your friends, classmates, and people you can just spend time with. Dorm life is what you make of it and I can personally say my dorm experience was phenomenal. Even if you don't get along with your roommates, the RAs will work to make sure things get better or will move you if necessary. Everyone is extremely friendly and open to new experiences.
Food and Dining The food on campus is very good for the most part. I like that if you don't feel like eating on campus, high street provides you with endless options for dining.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year during the week before the rivalry football game between Ohio State and Michigan, the majority of students jump into Mirror Lake. It is a unforgettable experience, even if you don't jump in, so I would definitely recommend going.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Ohio state is an academically challenging school. They have over 25 majors. Ohio State is ranked 7th in the nation.
Tips for prospective students Study hard when you are in school. Focus on completing your major and minor in four years. Get an internship preferably in your sophomore or junior year.
Academic Rigor OSU is a very academically challenging school, they require you to study hard and excel in everything you do. There are GPA requirements of a minimum of 3.0 out of a 4.0 for almost every major.
Dorm Life Dorm life is fun and exciting because you meet new people.
Food and Dining The food is great, there are so many different places to choose both on campus and across the street of campus. There are restaurants from all across the world on or near campus.
What to do for fun The OSU campus has very active nightlife right on the campus itself. There are also a lot of student organizations, greek life opportunities, etc. to keep oneself occupied.
Bang for the buck OSU is relatively cheaper, since it is a state school. There are a lot of scholarship opportunities available for students.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Ohio State has many so many opportunities. From clubs, the medical center, activities, Greek life, sports, the unrivaled spirit, there's a home for everyone at Ohio State. Ohio State is absolutely a kaleidoscope of opportunities that will adequately fill your resume for graduate school or the work field.
Tips for prospective students Ohio State is definitely a large Big 10 school. If you are looking for a small school it is definitely not it. However, the campus isn't as large as it's cut out to be. The med center and the random buildings on west campus and the agricultural parts of campus make it seem more vast than it really is. Getting from class to class usually isn't that stressful. Compared to a small, private school, of course it's huge. When looking at colleges look for a school that will fill all of your needs. There are advantages and disadvantages of a big school, but the endless opportunities that large schools have, may not quite be found at a smaller school. Also, you want to be at a school with lots of options and opportunities. Make sure you pick a school based on what it has to offer such as jobs, majors, internships etc.
Academic Rigor Of course this is major dependent. The hard sciences are pretty tough as well as the math department. I feel like this is similar at all universities. It all comes down to the subject and the professor. This being said, courses here will definitely be harder than community college classes, that's a given. However, the difficulty ranges between subjects and professors. Make sure to use ratemyprofessor.com but use with discretion!
Dorm Life There are advantages and disadvantages of living on all parts of campus.
West (Morrill and Lincoln)- They are great because;
-Air conditioned
-Suite style (living room with 4 rooms)
-The doubles are probably the most spacious
-More privacy because the office and bed room are separated by a door
-Fresh Express is at the bottom of Morrill and is convenient
-Bathroom and family room get cleaned twice a week
-Close to the RPAC
-Bus stop between the two towers
*Disadvantages
- Further from classes
- Far from high street/Union
North Campus
Advantages;
-get own bathroom
-close to academic core
-close to high street
-close to north commons and fresh express
-most are air conditioned I believe
Disadvantages
-have to clean own bathroom (can get gross)
-mostly all dorms are quads
-less space
South Campus
Advantages;
-Close to Union
-Close to high street
-Close to oval
-Close to the best food on campus
Disadvantages
-A lot of quads
-Some not air conditioned
-Little far from core academic area
Food and Dining I know the traditional meal plan is cheaper but I don't recommend it. It means you can only eat at Fresh Express and North or Kennedy Commons. Which can get boring. The Union, marketplace, Kennedy commons and the RPAC are all pretty good. There is a lot of variety and you can also go to a c store to buy grocery items with swipes.
What to do for fun OUAB always has fun things planned. Also there are tons of restaurants, movie theatres, and shoppping near by. As far as night life goes there are plenty of dance clubs and bars, and of course house parties if that tickles your fancy. There is always something to do.
Bang for the buck In state tuition is cheaper, but it's a public school so in state tuition isn't as expensive as private schools. Of course scholarships, grants, and loans help out a lot.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Mirror lake jump before the M ******* game! So cold, but so full of tradition. Of course there is always Carmen Ohio and Script Ohio at foot ball games!
Great for these types of students Anyone! Anyone can find a home here at Ohio State. It's up to each person to make their own unique Ohio State story. There's something for anyone from bbq club, to doing research.
Clubs and Activities Gosh, there's so many. Too many to choose from, something to always keep one busy.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The Ohio State University is my favorite place to be in the world. Our school is full of students and faculty who are engaged in the well-being of the school and the surrounding communities and who constantly seek growth. I can honestly report that everyone I talk to loves being an Ohio State Buckeye.
Tips for prospective students Academic mistakes happen to everyone at sometime during their college career. The key to overcoming these mistakes is showing that you have learned from them. If you fail a class one semester, then the next semester take better notes, go talk to the professors (they really won't bite! ;)), and even visit the campus learning center to improve your studying habits and learning acquisition.
Academic Rigor Our public university is quickly rivaling esteemed private universities in academic rigor. For the Chemistry department this is especially the case, as it is ranked among the most difficult in the nation. We have great engineering programs, a new neuroscience major that I am in, and pretty much any other major you could think of. The Honors Program classes are very rigorous, and graduating with Honors requires completion of a senior thesis.
Dorm Life Dorm life is pretty awesome. Being surrounded by many people who share my classes is very beneficial to not only work on difficult class material, but also to build a community and feel more connected to events happening on campus. For any of you who have already decided on OSU, Lincoln House is the best!! (So much space!)
Food and Dining There are so many choices on and around campus for dining. We have a couple buffet-style places with soft-serve ice cream machines, numerous cafes, and spots in the Union and Marketplace with multiple food centers like pizza, pasta, wraps, salad, panini, etc. My favorite place to eat on campus is at the Sloopy's diner, which has a variety of food like pancakes, hamburgers, and omelets. Many restaurants off campus also take the campus dining card money.
What to do for fun For fun, there are concerts at the Newport on High Street, hall activities in the dorms, parties on the weekends, various clubs hold free nights for non-members, movies on the Oval, humans vs. zombies, visits to the Short North, and so much more!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year before the Ohio State-Michigan game hundreds of students jump into Mirror Lake late at night in the freezing cold of November. It's a great time, whether you are jumping in the lake or just watching and taking pictures :D
Clubs and Activities We have over 1500 official clubs, so there is something for everyone! From live-action role play to leadership groups and honoraries, ballroom dancing, pistol club, improv groups, musical productions, and so many greek organizations, you name it, we have it!
Campus Safety Campus is pretty safe, too. In addition to crime notifications via text/email, we also have a student transportation service that students can call to take them from one place to another in a safe manner.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The Ohio State University has a wide expanse of opportunities. No matter what you're interested in, there is a corresponding group to get involved with. There is a plethora of resources and support to help you in your endeavors.
Tips for prospective students Don't just sit in class, actually become involved in what you are learning about. Get acquainted with your professors, you might need there help now as well as later. Be open minded and embrace change.
Academic Rigor There has not been very many classes I could pass with minimal effort. The major programs are also very academically competitive.
Dorm Life South campus is a lot louder than North Campus. The side of campus I was assigned did not match up with my personality, but no matter where you are you can make the best of it.
Food and Dining There are a lot of good eating locations outside of the traditional dining halls. There are also plenty of places off campus that accept BuckID.
What to do for fun Depending on your personal preferences, there will be something different to do for fun. However, no matter your personal preferences, there will be something here for you to do.
Bang for the buck I love it here and it is worth every penny.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Everything about Ohio State is tradition. In my chemistry class last quarter, in the middle of lecture, someone randomly yelled O-H and even the professor stopped speaking and responded I-O. We truly are a strong community.
Great for these types of students In my time here I have met so many very different people. This school is great for anyone.
Clubs and Activities There is literally a club for anyone. Name it, we have it.
Greek Life A lot of people are involved in Greek Life. Definitely keep an open mind and look into it.
Campus Safety Student services are on call late nights to give rides. There is regular security on campus. There has been a string of crimes throughout the quarter though.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I would give OSU a nine out of 10. There are tons of clubs and activities that you can get involved in, and the school spirit here is phenomenal. I don't like that there aren't very many scholarships for the average student or middle class individual.
Tips for prospective students Start looking for scholarships one to two years in advance. Also get involved in some kind of club early, its a big school and you can easily loose your way and get lost. Go to the tutoring room and office hours from day one of class.
Academic Rigor It's not as challenging as Harvard, but all classes here require a ton of work, study time, and dedication. I would say spending an hour or two studying on each class your taking will help you not feel so overwhelmed.
Dorm Life The dorms are great. There are a ton of students on each floor, and even if you don't like your roommate you just have to be respectful of each other and each others things. Get out at the beginning of the year and meet the people on your floor and the floors above and below you.
Food and Dining Since OSU is a huge campus there are over 15 dining halls. Some are the traditional cafeteria style, but most of them are restaurant style and are very tasty. Also, high street offers a ton of places to eat off-campus with special student discounts.
What to do for fun The Ohio Union offers tons of guest speakers and FREE concerts; such as, J.Cole, Mac Miller, Guiliana Rancic, Bill Nye The Science Guy, and Common. Also, there are tons of fun clubs like the Bar-B-Q club. Finally, the sporting events are really fun too.
Bang for the buck Ohio State is not the cheapest school to go to. If you would like to save money I think having a low meal plan and going to the grocery or eating off campus, you'll save a lot more money. Also, look at the school magazine the saver for free off campus dining offers or discounts to the surrounding restaurants.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The mirror lake jump happens once a year the Tuesday before the big OSU vs Michigan football game. Its super fun, the entire campus jumps into the freezing cold lake.
Great for these types of students Ohio State is great for all students, but I think students who are very social or looking for stimulating and challenging academics should attend the university.
Clubs and Activities There are over thousands of clubs that you can join ranging from multicultural clubs, Greek Life, sports clubs, to religious clubs, Bar-B-Q club, and yoga club. Also, most of the sporting events are free except for football and men's basketball.
Greek Life Greek life is only about 8% of the student population, but considering the amount of students that go here its a ton of people who are in them. The campus isn't very greek and you can go to the Frat parties without being in the Fraternity or Sorority. Also, there are many other parties that you can attend too.
Campus Safety The Columbus Police and the University Police do a good job keeping the campus safe. There are tons of emergency blue light station on and off campus. You can push the blue light station and someone will be there with in minutes if you feel unsafe or need a ride home.

Food and Dining Everything that you eat, it is here right on campus. Whether if it is in the cafeteria or a restaurant.

There is almost every organization you can think of, plenty of team spirit, and is a renowned research institution. There is something for everyone, and the pay isn't really that shabby in comparison to other schools that might have even less opportunity.
Tips for prospective students You need to come to an event more so than a tour. Toura can be long, and confusing, but just contact someone here or research things and places and go yourself. Get to know campus before your visit. Also, Do your research online about everything you need to know for aid, applying, organizations, etc because we are a university that is now backed up on the Internet. Food and Dining One thing I like is that there are many places to eat on campus. Between classes, I could stop by a food place right in the same building of my classes which is extremely convenient. The food is good; however, I would like if there was variety from mart to mart.

Become involved in organizations at the University from day one.Academic Rigor The Ohio State University academic rigor is slightly above average, for the most part because of the Quarter system the University follows. Categories Rating Comments In three sentences It is a great school if you are the type of person who is outgoing and willing to get involved. It might be a big campus, but it is easy to navigate once you start walking around for classes. Although there are a lot of students, professors will meet one on one to help you understand the material from class.
Tips for prospective students 1. Make sure you have an awesome essay on the application. You might think they skim through that type of thing, but I know a lot of students who have had the essay as a deciding factor.
2. Visit the school! The tour guides are current students and really know the school backwards and forward.
3. Research your major. Ohio State is in the process of switching to semesters from quarters, so make sure your major is not being dropped or altered in any big way.Academic Rigor The classes are challenging, especially math and science. However, Ohio State offers tutoring in every subject every week day, so students have all of the tools necessary to succeed. The most popular places to get help with academics is the Younkin Success Center and the Math Building.
Dorm Life I live in Smith Hall, which is an older building on south campus. There are 24 girls on my floor and 24 boys. We have bathrooms for each gender, so there are three showers for all 24 girls. It was gross to me at first, but the floor is cleaned every weekday. Also, the dorms on south campus (Smith and Steeb) are being renovated in the 2012-2013 school year. This year, Stradley and Park are in the process of being renovated.
Food and Dining Student dining facilities on south campus are much better and hold a wider variety of food than west campus and north campus. South has places such as Marketplace, Mirror Lake Creamery, and the Union. While north and west only have traditional dining and Fresh Express. Most people eat on south because the food is more enjoyable. However, student dining gets old after the first half of the year.
What to do for fun Walk down high street! There are plenty of shopping locations, such as Urban Outfitters and Pitaya. There are also several 18+ clubs and bars if you just want to go out and dance. Some popular locations include Big Bar and the Sloppy Donkey. Another thing to do is go downtown which has a lot of cute restaurants and clubs. On Thursdays, the clubs downtown are 18+. Finally, there is a movie theater right next to campus in the Gateway, which accepts Buck ID money. Buck ID money is money on your student ID that is included in the cost of tuition.
Bang for the buck I come from a small town and I was nervous about going to a big school, but it was the best decision I ever made. The professors really care and know what they're talking about. I'm from Ohio and so are most of the students. Everyone I have met seems a lot like me and is down to Earth. For such a great school, it's relatively inexpensive in comparison to private schools. I definitely recommend checking the school out if you haven't already!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every Thursday in November before the OSU vs. Michigan game, all of the students jump into a ting lake on campus. There are thousands of people cheering on the team and splashing around in the little lake. The school every puts lights on for the event.
Great for these types of students Students who are outgoing, willing to study hard, and want to have fun will fit in perfectly at Ohio State.
Clubs and Activities OSU has everything! There is a Magic Club, a Barbecue Club, a Cross Fit Club, and even a Quidditch Team! Additionally, every sport has club and intramural teams.
Greek Life A lot of people are involved in Greek Life and it is an awesome way to meet people! The have frats and sororities for a lot of different groups such as Jewish Americans and Business majors! On 15th Street, you will find all of the fraternity and sorority houses.
Campus Safety There have been some safety issues off campus, but it has been safe on campus for the most part. The school calls and e-mails every student when there is any safety issue. Also, they have the blue emergency call stations in several locations on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences As a school, Ohio State definitely lives up to their academic name. I came in as a biology major, unsure of how to specialize my degree, and I've found the science courses to be incredibly rigorous, if you're prepared for the work and to learn a lot then I believe this is the place for you. The night life isn't bad either and I currently live in the towers (dorms on West) and as a place to live they're very nice it just gets crazy because you're so high up and the windows don't open...but I believe they're nicer than all the other dorms on campus available this year.
Tips for prospective students As you're coming in, have an open mind and don't forget why you're there: you're paying for school to learn and earn an education to leave with a degree. Their are going to be A LOT of kids here, and I suggest trying to meet as many people as possible, because it seemed that people fell into their groups by the end of second quarter. Just remember you don't have to be solely friends with your roommates and getting involved in something you're passionate about here will bring you closer to people more similar to you along with giving you something to de-stress from school. Work hard, play hard.
Academic Rigor Based off personal experience as a science major and from engineering friends as well (and we're in the honors program...at least for this year), we all struggle. The science courses are extremely difficult (CHEMISTRY) and the math courses are very hard as well. Learning the amount of time and energy necessary for them is something I'm still learning, you just have to do it I guess!
Dorm Life I live in Lincoln Tower on west campus, although people may claim it's far from everything I actually really like it: it's close to the RPAC (the best workout facility) and the Thompson Library, and who can forget the Shoe! It's set up very nicely as a suite (four rooms-1 quad, 3 doubles, common living room, bathroom) and is a lot nicer/more spacious than the normal North/South dorms. However, I absolutely hate the fact that there is only one window in the very back bedroom area and that it does not open, so if you're sitting in the common room you could literally have no idea the time of day: no natural light/air.
Food and Dining As far as campus food goes, I love it. However, I'm a pretty boring eater but I never get bored of the choices. I have my favorites that I stick to. They have options for everyone (vegetarian meals) with a lot of dining halls. You get a certain prepaid amount of swipes per quarter that you can use freely but try to finish by the end; you can get meals, coffee with sides, or can use the swipes for groceries in little stores (which tend to be way overpriced, but that's OSU for you).
What to do for fun High Street has bars/food places, off-campus parties, downtown Columbus clubs/bars, Frats also have parties
Bang for the buck I mean college is going to be expensive but I believe OSU definitely is guilty of ripping students off. You just have to make the most out of it, use the services the school offers/you pay for and get the most out of your education, you'll learn a lot here and do well if you work your butt off!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Mirror Lake jump is INCREDIBLE! I guess it's the number one stupidest college tradition but who cares, it's something you'll always remember.
Campus Safety They offer Student Safety transportation which is nice because the campus is so huge, but you have to call hours in advance to possibly even get a ride. There was also a mugging/people being held at gun-point streak which was terrifying and we never really knew if they were doing anything/caught anyone. Columbus can be a scary place in some areas but you just have to stay on campus/with friends when outside of it.

Academic Rigor Very tough classes if you take the right ones. While they are difficult they are very intriguing.
Dorm Life I lived in the arts dorm on campus. It was beautifully painted and I had a blast all the time.
Food and Dining mehhhh

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences A big school in an urban environment with a tight knit community. Everyone is friendly and social, and with a wide array of people there is something for everyone. Drinking and partying is big here, but there is plenty to campus and Columbus to keep the not-so-wild types entertained.
Tips for prospective students Find a niche. There is something here for everyone, but you'll get lost in the masses if you are a bump on the log.
Academic Rigor I have been continually impressed with the small class sizes and one on one contact that undregraduate students get with professors, advisors and the like. Expect to work hard and learn a lot.
Dorm Life Not bad, the dorms are a bit out dated. Its a good spot to spend freshman year so you can make friends and such, but most students move the the nearby east campus/off campus area where rental properties are cheap after freshman year.
Food and Dining Great food options in the campus dining program. As a vegan with a ton of food allergies, they always provide good options for me, but those with conventional diets seem to enjoy the campus dining options as well. Columbus has terrific dining options just steps off campus as well.
What to do for fun Get out and enjoy the community. OSU has a great campus, and Columbus may seem a little small time if you are used to a big city, but there is a lot going on and a pretty cool scene here if you look for it.
Bang for the buck If you are in-state, you can't beat the bang for the buck factor. Out of state tuition is a bit pricey, but they have some great scholarships for out of state students.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Ohio State is a very large school that doesn't feel like a very large school. Students have all the advantages of a large university but find their own niche group of friends and fellow students that make it seem like a smaller university. Great education, campus, and football.
Tips for prospective students Don't be overwhelmed by the size - it is easy to get around and offers a lot of opportunities.
Academic Rigor Classes can be tough - studying is needed but doesn't take over your entire life.
Dorm Life Good rooms - chance to move around if needed. Mostly Air Conditioned - much better than some of my friend's dorms at other colleges.
Food and Dining Great food - choices all over. Buck ID program is by far the best of all my friends at other colleges. Can you dining card on and off campus.
What to do for fun Football, plenty of clubs and groups, hang on high street with friends, out to dinner, parties with friends.
Bang for the buck Compared to private schools - the amenties here are far more and I get just as much personal attention if I ask.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Jumping in Mirror Lake - it is a must college experience.
Great for these types of students Outgoing, at least medium self-confidence, go with the flow.
Clubs and Activities Too many to count - you think of a group and OSU has it - even a BBQ club!
Greek Life I didn't do it - but the parties are fun.
Campus Safety Never had any concerns.

Academic Rigor The classes are challenging but not too challenging.
Dorm Life The dorms are great! Not a lot of space but they are a place to call home.
Food and Dining There's a wide variety of food to choose from. The options are endless.
What to do for fun There's so many activities on campus, an OSU student is NEVER bored.
Bang for the buck You know that you are paying for a world class education with tons of opportunities to keep you busy for four years. When you graduate the connections you make at OSU might help you get a job.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Three words. Mirror Lake Jump. Every November before the big Michigan game all of the OSU students jump in Mirror Lake late at night. It's freezing but beyond fun. Check out youtube for more information. This is just one of the traditions you get to take part in as a Buckeye.
Great for these types of students A student who is always looking for something new to try or a challenge.
Clubs and Activities There are over 60 sports clubs and hundreds of other clubs through the Student Union. There's always something new to try.

not to mention it's the only one nearby that has a great biological sciences department.Academic Rigor hard, but going to be worth it.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences osu is a nice big school that has interesting classes. they are close to really good restaurants that are connected to them and give you really good meal plans. their bus system is also free to use and makes getting around easier.
Tips for prospective students if you are commuting then get there a hour and a half early to find a place to park and get to your class. also plan your classes because they could be on opposite sides of the campus.
Academic Rigor its hard work academically speaking. you have to do all the homework and show up to almost every class in order to do well. you really shouldn't slack at all.
Dorm Life i haven't lived in a dorm but i am told they are really nice
Food and Dining it can get expensive whether you are on a meal plan or not, but the plan extends to the food places around campus. there are a lot of places to choose from though and everything tastes good too.
What to do for fun there are plenty of places to hang out on and off campus. about a half hour away is a big mall (easton) to also go to. during the night there are also a bunch of clubs to go to.
Great for these types of students osu (main campus) is very big with a huge population, so those all for big a campus this is great. they also have several branch off campuses that are much smaller. also those that want a degree in one of the sciences, premed, and nursing this is a great school.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences ohio state is overall a great institution! it is pretty challenging academically and it has great school spirit, but the campus is not as nice as others. it is a very big school that can be overwhelming in its first year, but it offers many opportunities in the years to follow.
Tips for prospective students don't be discouraged in your first few months! they will be hard, both academically and socially, but stick with it, because things get better. live on south campus if you want to have fun.
Academic Rigor the school is challenging, especially if you are in the honors program.
Dorm Life the dorms are fun because of the people, but they are all very old and dirty. the are also far away from everything because the campus is so big.
Food and Dining the swipes system is convenient as a freshman, but it is very expensive. they food is a wide variety, but its quality is only mediocre.
What to do for fun there are thousands of clubs and activities! and there are concerts and malls and restaurants accessible by bus.
Bang for the buck if you live in the state of ohio, ohio state is the best deal you will find anywhere!
Campus Safety don't walk alone at night.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences osu has a beautiful campus and most people here are genuinely kind. the classes are taught by instructors who really understand the material and can communicate it effectively. there are a ton of resources available to students that are easily utilized.
Tips for prospective students don't forget to get involved with student organizations. they are a great way to meet people and build up your resume. osu has a ton of community service groups that do some pretty amazing things.
Academic Rigor if you focus a little time and energy into your course work, it's not difficult to do well in classes. however, blowing off studying will have very poor results.
Dorm Life just try not to get stuck in a quad.
Food and Dining food is readily available all over campus. it's not the best food you'll ever have, but it's also not bad. it's pretty much what you'd expect but with a little more variety. one of the advantages of a large school is the large number of mouths to feed. a new meal plan set-up for 2012-2013 should be interesting for everyone.
What to do for fun high st has a ton of little food places and is right on the east edge of campus. the union also has d-tix. this just means that osu students can get discount tickets for all sorts of shows, movies, concerts, etc. osu also puts on events of their own. these events are usually free for anyone with a buckid.
Bang for the buck on-campus housing and food is ridiculously expensive, but tuition itself is reasonable. overall, it balances out to make the education completely worth it. as an out-of-state student paying out-of-state tuition, that says something.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus mirror lake jump is a sight to see. beat michigan!
the oval becomes oval beach when the weather turns pleasant. people are always on the oval playing frisbee, studying, or doing whatever.Great for these types of students pretty much anyone who isn't looking for a small school. osu has everything. it's just a matter of putting yourself out there and finding what works for you.
Campus Safety if you're in the middle of campus, it's perfectly safe at any time of day. there's blue lights all over the place and there's cabs buses running 24/7 that are free to use. at night, the edges of campus are a little sketchy, so walk with buddy.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences if you want a school where your teachers are readily available than this is not it. i left here in favor of a smaller school. make sure you can handle 300 person class sizes.
Tips for prospective students it takes at least 20 mins to get from one side of campus to the other so plan accordingly.
Academic Rigor it's difficult but mostly because no one really spends the time explaining anything to you and if you have a question you're probably fighting with the 300 other people in your class.
Dorm Life the dorms are decent sized but packing 4 freshman in one room is ridiculous. i know they do it at other schools too but really i think 2 ppl max to a room. they are pretty clean and there are washers and dryers available in the dorms.
Food and Dining not the greatest food ever but lots of options and burrtios noches is open late. there are also plenty of options on high street
What to do for fun there is so much to do i can't even begin to list it and you have free access to the city busline it just takes longer to get everywhere.
Bang for the buck they have good facilities but it isn't really worth putting yourself in that much debt for.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus jumping in mirror lake. i don't especially suggest it.
Great for these types of students those who are very social who like tradition. must love football
Campus Safety one of my sister's friends got pulled off a bus stop in broad daylight. there's some bike theft but other than that it's fairly safe and the campus has it's own police department and there are usually a ton of people around

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences ohio state university is noted as one of the best schools in the nation and so far they have lived up to that standard. they have excellent school spirit and majority of the students strive to make a difference or do something great with their degree, which is pretty motivating.
Tips for prospective students the coursework can be difficult depending on your major. at times it can seem a bit intimidating being among some of the top students in the nations, however, they have plenty of resources such as tutoring centers, math labs, writings centers etc. and they're all free!
Academic Rigor it all depends on the course, your professor, and your willingness to put in additional time for studying.
Dorm Life i'm an only-child so sharing a room with a stranger was a bad deal for me, however the dorms aren't that bad.
Food and Dining great food and it's healthy! i prefer sloopy's or marketplace, but the food is a bit expensive and the meal swipes are a complete rip-off.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i am a freshman (female) at ohio state, in my second quarter. i absolutely love this university. it has amazing people, academics, and opportunities.
Tips for prospective students come with an open mind. you will meet so many new people from all different backgrounds, embrace it. get involved in activities, you'll regret it if you don't. join clubs, go to the gym, play sports with your friends when its nice outside, be active, go to events around your dorm or across the university, just make sure you get out and have new experiences. lastly, go to class! in a huge school its very easy to skip class but your only hurting yourself. most teachers say things in class that are not in the notes but will be on tests. plus it can be hard to teach yourself the material just by reading.
Dorm Life this depends on which dorm you're in but most people i know have an amazing time in the dorms their freshman year.
Food and Dining it can get a little boring if you eat at the same place every day but as long as you venture out and try new things, the food is usually pretty good.

Great for these types of students students who want to have fun but also take their academics seriously.
Clubs and Activities there are so many clubs and activities there's no way you could not find one for you. but if that does happen you can always start your own.
Greek Life i'm not involved in greek life myself, but some of my best friends i've made here are joining a fraternity and they are all incredibly excited to live there next year.
Campus Safety i feel very safe when walking on campus, even by myself. there are emergency phones all over and you have to swipe to get into the dorm buildings. off campus however, you have to be very careful and aware of your surroundings.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Ohio State is an empowering school filled with a sense of unification. It is a university that gives students an array of opportunities. Ohio State has a strong sense of community and provides students with the above and beyond knowledge and options for success.
Tips for prospective students It is important to not let the campus swallow you up, it is important to be friendly and try new things. Despite its size, students will grow accustomed to the way things work at the Ohio State University. Students will begin to feel at home due to the strong sense of community and unification as a part of being an Ohio State Buckeye.
Academic Rigor The Ohio State University continues to improve its educational standards as the years pass. Students are provided with a top-notch education and professors that truly have a passion for teaching as well as standards that continues to grow and become more demanding. Students will leave with a more than satisfactory education and will be provided with the essential tools and offered opportunities for success.
Dorm Life The dorms may not be the newest of cleanliest found at a college, but the sense of community at Ohio State permeates through the walls. Each residence hall provides many opportunities for its students and different activities each week. There is also hall council to get involved in as well as many other things that give students the ability to bond and meet new peers.
Food and Dining Due to its size, the Ohio State University has many dining halls and food services on campus. Each dining hall has a wide variety of options for students as well as variation. The food received with meal plans is more than enough for each meal and there are many healthy options as well.
What to do for fun The Ohio State University resides in a convenient city location of Columbus, Ohio. By living in Columbus, students have the option to do nearly whatever they want from concerts to movies to restaurants to shopping centers. The COTA bus system is free for Ohio State students and can take them to many different areas of Columbus.
Bang for the buck The Ohio State University is one of the cheapest public universities in the state of Ohio but provides students with possibly the best opportunities given its location and reputation. Students have the opportunity to participate in nearly any activity they wish through the university's myriad of clubs and city location. It also has competitive athletics, many job opportunities and is known as a prestigious university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Perhaps the most well-known tradition is the Mirror Lake Jump held each year in November before the Ohio State vs. Michigan game. Students will jump into Mirror Lake (located on campus) each night before the big game and it becomes a night of celebrating school spirit as well as the unification of peers. Other than that, there is the typical cheering of O-H-I-O no matter where a student may be in the world.
Great for these types of students The Ohio State University is great for any type of student. Due to being one of the largest universities in the United States of America, OSU has a wide variety of students and provides a niche for all type of people.
Clubs and Activities The Ohio State University has any club or activity that a student could dream of, and if it can not be found then it can be easily created. It has multiple athletic facilities and areas/opportunities for activities.
Greek Life Only about 8% of students go Greek at Ohio State but it is a growing community that provides students with many opportunities. Each chapter has many formals, opportunities for service work, as well as dance teams, intramural sports and themed gatherings, cook outs and competitions. Sororities and Fraternities have informal and formal recruitment processes.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences THE Ohio State University. Don't forget the The! School colors are scarlet and gray. Mascot is Brutus the Buckeye; he really is a very energetic fellow, it's always nice to see him around! The Buckeye pride and spirit is VERY prominent here. Never in my life have I ever been to a school with more school spirit.
Tips for prospective students College is a very different experience from high school. In high school, everything seems to be planned beforehand for you, such as what classes you would have to take in order to graduate, what the lunch is for the day, and what next year's general daily outline would look like for you. You don't have much power or authority in creating your own personalized schedule. Because you have more individual attention, if your grade's dropping, it is most likely that your teacher would contact your parents or approach you to voice their concerns about you failing the class and possibly having to repeat it. If you need some extra help, you could always pop into your teacher's class and get some assistance, having a friendly chat even. You would avoid skipping classes even if you wanted to, since you knew there were consequences for poor attendance: demerits. And we all know demerits lead to trouble!! NOT. FUN.
When you start college, you will automatically see and feel the difference. Suddenly, you're on your own. You have the power to create your own schedule, taking classes that most interest you. You have the power to choose what you want to learn about, what you want to major in, what path in life you want to travel. Too sleepy to get up? Too tired to go to class? Want to skip? Go ahead! You won't get demerits, but you'll be seeing the effects of all your skipped classes when you can't catch up with the class and your grade falls from all the low scores you get on your tests. Of course, there will be times where you could use a personal day or two, but don't abuse it! Hungry? What would you like to eat? Chinese food? Indian food? Burgers and fries? There are loads of options to choose from, unlike eating pizza on Pizza day in high school. Concerned about failing your class? Want to visit your teacher's office and get some help? So do the other 600 people taking the same class as you. If you want help, you have to make an appointment and be determined to get some assistance. And remember to make the visit short. Your teacher has so many students, especially on such a large campus as Ohio State, and they can't spend 3 hours trying to help you out. Failing a class? If you won't do something about it, no one will. No teacher calling your parents, motivating you to do better, nothing. YOU are in charge of your own future.
All in all, college is a great experience. You get to discover yourself, and learn to identify yourself and what kind of individual you are without your parents or your family there by your side to help define you. You really get to discover and embrace the independent side of you, and will feel proud of yourself when you get to accomplish things that you normally wouldn't do, such as managing your own money, keeping your living space organized without your mom being there to pester you about it, and doing your own laundry even!! While growing more as a person, you also realize the things most important to you, whether it be your culture, religion, or sexuality. Don't ever let anyone demean you or change you, because you are beautiful and one-of-a-kind, JUST the way you are. There will be many pressures as you may try to fit in with the college lifestyle, but never lose sight of who you are and who made you who you are today. Don't forget your roots, and stay true to yourself.Academic Rigor Freshman year, you may have many teachers who are currently graduate students who have not gotten their teaching degrees yet. Some of them may not be as helpful or as knowledgeable as you may want them to be, but just bear with it! Overall, all the teachers try their best to be as effective as possible in making you understand the course material and enjoy the class. Ohio State has a great academic program, and many amazing, updated resources and facilities. The libraries are my absolute favorite, especially Thompson Library. The many different buildings of the university are absolutely beautiful, and I have no complaints in taking a dance class in a building that looks like Hogwarts. :) Make the most of your resources, and you will find success here.
Dorm Life When you do roommate agreement contracts with your fellow roommates, make sure to bring up EVERYTHING that concerns or bothers you, or you may regret it later. I had a very stressful time trying to get along with the 3 other girls I was rooming with, since they regularly drink and party, and I do not. Make sure to set ground rules for the dorm as soon as possible, such as whether or not you allow guys to stay over, keep alcohol in the fridge, or drinking in the dorm. Confronting your roommates directly about anything that may be bothering you is also a good experience that will allow you to grow as an adult. Besides having trouble with the drinking issue from time to time, I fairly get along with my roommates and do not have too much trouble with them now. Always remember to stand your ground if your roommates are doing things that may endanger your safety, or damage your possessions. I recommend not living in an all-freshman dorm building, since things can get a little loud and crazy...
Food and Dining There are many different foods to choose from!! Burgers, international food, wraps, salads, soups,... I could go on and on. And delivery food is always convenient, since many of the off-campus restaurants deliver till eaaarrly in the morning. Great for all those late night, early morning studying!!!
What to do for fun Join clubs that spark your interest! Get involved in student organizations. There are over 600 student organizations at Ohio State. At least one of them should be interesting to you... And through these clubs and organizations, you can meet others who share the same interests as you and make great friends.
Bang for the buck Being out-of-state, I can say that Ohio State was very expensive to attend. But with enough scholarships, grants, and loans, I was able to come here. Start applying for scholarships!! Getting a part-time job would also help your income. If you are from out-of-state like me, be sure to get in-state tuition as soon as possible to help save your money (become financially independent, get a job, live in Ohio for a year... there are more specific instructions on how to be eligible for in-state residency and tuition on the Ohio State website).
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Mirror Lake Jump. Thousands of students jumping into a freezing cold lake before the Michigan vs. Ohio State football game. All I have to say is WOW. Also, if you hear someone yell, O,H! you have to reply I,O! no matter how random or unexpected it is.
Great for these types of students Independent, adventurous, diligent, ambitious, open-minded.
Campus Safety Ohio State's campus is quite safe with blue light posts everywhere that you can run to and press the emergency button if you ever find yourself in an unfortunate or emergency situation. The further south you go on campus, things tend to get a little more rough, so I would advise you to be more careful around those areas. Also, North High Street, which is right across the campus does get a little rough at night, and so I would also advise you to always be with a friend or two for extra protection if you are planning to go out at night.

Am enjoying being here There are nearly 1000 clubs and activities, so there's always something going on. The feeling unity when you scream out O-H-I-O! at the home games.
Bang for the buck Being from out of state the college is expensive, but I believe the fun and learning I am receiving is worth the financial cost.
Tips for prospective students Get scholarships for the time you spend there, the money is very helpful.
Great for these types of students Any really. This school has a niche for everyone from athletic to academic oriented people. AND there is always something to do so you'll never be bored

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The curriculum offered at Ohio State is incredibly in depth, but manageable. The Fundamental of Engineering Honors program for Freshman prepares students to be successful in their entire college career by giving them a chance to hit the ground running. Teachers really care about students and their progress, at least on average, and there are a multitude of resources available to students who might need some extra help.
Am enjoying being here The social atmosphere is great! One can literally find a community to get involved within without even trying because the incredible diversity will put you next to others of similar interests. The multitude of clubs and the housing communities also provide a constant source of recreation, even outside of the great athletics scene. To be bored on campus, one would have to give a significant effort.
Bang for the buck I chose Ohio State for its top rated engineering program for the affordable price. The institution is top notch with many amazing faculty members there to do research and discover new things, which provides many opportunities to get rewarding mentors. The size of the university also brings in a lot of support and recruitment from outside industries for helpful networking connections that would be hard to find otherwise. With the huge alumni base, it is easy to get a return on investment with the multitude of opportunities.
Tips for prospective students Ohio State University is large... this may scare some, but hopefully it excites others. You need to be prepared to follow your own interests and devote yourself to those causes/goals that matter most to you. Work hard to learn how to teach yourself while still in high-school since, although the tutor centers and office hours are incredibly helpful, coming prepared and not getting overwhelmed is a key to success.
Great for these types of students Between the diversity and academics, someone who is outgoing and focused would fit in perfectly. Coming from a small farming village, I can say that the experience has been great. I have met so many people from interesting backgrounds that share a common link of being a Buckeye. I can truly say that I have been amazed by how much this school is willing to provide for those who go out and apply themselves, whether it is an internship, a school-sponsored program, or an extracurricular club.

Will enjoy being here There are varieties of scenes and a lot of events (message boards with cool events) going on in this downtown city area.
Bang for the buck The education and price seems worth it. Especially if you are a top scholar and go on a scholarship.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus and you will see how busy and bustling it is with things to do everyday.
Great for these types of students Anyone can fit in this college unless they want a small or private quiet type of school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am a Health Sciences major, hoping to pursue Physical Therapy school later on, so I am taking a lot of science classes. These science classes, like Medical Terminology, are classes that I definitely need for my major. Great in detail but also very interesting, these classes are well-rounded and definitely worth the money.
Am enjoying being here I love the atmosphere of Ohio State! I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else. I've gotten involved in several organizations, like the Buckeye Leadership League and the Delta Omega Kappa sorority, an all-heath fields group of girls. I've made such great friendships and I know I made the right decision in coming here.
Bang for the buck I would agree that I'm getting a great education for the money I'm spending. It is a lot, but when you receive the diploma at the end of it, it's more than worth it. Future employers will be very impressed with an Ohio State graduate.
Tips for prospective students Get involved on campus! There is so much Ohio State has to offer, and I know for sure I'm not using as much as I could. Use the tutor room for you math and chemistry classes; that's what I have been doing, and it has helped my grades tremendously. Also join a leadership organization; you have to show you are ready to be your own person.
Great for these types of students The oval is a great place to study when it's nice out, but my favorite is the Science and Engineering Library. It's open 24 hours a day, letting you get your studying and homework done on your own time.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers that I have had in my first quarter were wonderful. Because I am on a regional campus the teachers really get to know you. They know your first name and what you look like so the college experience feels personal.
Am enjoying being here I live in the dorms, which are great, and it really is a great experience. The people all around campus are very friendly. Because I do go to a smaller regional campus after a while everybody becomes a familiar face and you really start to believe that the campus is like a small community.
Bang for the buck Going to a regional campus is less expensive than going to the main campus. The dorms are also much nicer here. The food is very good and there is a lot of variety when it comes to food. The classes are also more personal than they would be on the main campus so you end up paying less for a more personal college experience.
Tips for prospective students Think about what you need to help you learn better and what you are used to. If you need smaller, more personalized classes, consider a regional campus of your dream school. You don't have to go to the main campus and get overwhelmed by the vast number of students. Also, think about the transition between a high school and a college. Sometimes going form a high school with maybe 30 students per class to a college with 200 students per class is too much to quickly.
Great for these types of students Great for students who like a personal feel in their classrooms and for those who are not ready for 50 or more people in their classes

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Ohio State University has some of the top professors in the nation. You will be learning from those who are top researches in their field, and many times you can work with them on their research.
Am enjoying being here With over 1,000 student organizations, there are no excuses for being bored. Whether you're into sports, debate, or barbecuing, there are activities for you.
Bang for the buck With the opportunity to learn from world-class professors and to watch national championship sports teams, you could not ask for more from Ohio State.
Tips for prospective students Be willing to try new things and come in with an open mind! You will meet so many new people on campus and have the chance to participate in great, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities! Also, don't be wary of the size of campus. It tends to shrink as you get more involved.
Great for these types of students Ohio State is great for those looking to expand their horizons. At Ohio State, there are top notch academics and social opportunities.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I found that the Fisher Business school has a lot to offer. While researching, I'm taking into consideration the study abroad and internship opportunities, too. OSU looked very promising in this aspect.
Will enjoy being here You know, the one thing I enjoyed most when visiting this college was the spirit. Of course, I just happened to be there on a home game weekend, but I just loved the atmosphere. I'm really considering OSU.
Bang for the buck Yes, it's on the higher end, but it isn't too bad in the expense area. Plus with the scholarship chances that OSU offers and the quality of education received, it'll balance out.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you do your research and know, for sure, that you love the college. You'll most likely be there for the next four years so make sure it's right for you.
Great for these types of students If you love OSU football, make sure to at least visit. In fact, if you love school spirit, OSU is perfect.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Currently I as a Freshman am in mostly intro courses and at least for me it is mostly review but I am learning lots in the areas I never studied before and even my most already known course has managed to provide me with some new information.
Am enjoying being here I currently commute from home to OSU because housing filled up fast and as such it is a mixed blessing as it is nice to not have to deal with some of the problems that other people I know have to deal with but most commuters are kind of cut out of activities especially those that use the bus system and live a while away because lots of the clubs and such run late and just due to travel time I cannot always stay for stuff.
Bang for the buck It is a good school for the price but is is a big school and there for it is also impersonal at times. While my professors know my name and are nice enough I would honestly be surprised if they even faintly remembered me next quarter just because of the number of students they will have to remember then.
Tips for prospective students Be willing to be a number till you get to a spot in a year or two where you can get a mentor and keep them. Also remember that just because you are honest doesn't mean the guy sitting next to you is. Most people I would say are at OSU but it only takes one rotten apple to ruin your day. But most importantly take courses that interest you and get involved in clubs because it will make the school smaller.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The majority of teacher's are well educated, and will help a student out if the student asks them. They are all so different, with so much experience. I love hearing about their field of work while in class. They will tell you stories of studies they have down, and the environment in the classroom is always fun.
Am enjoying being here I love it here. It's never a dull moment. I have participated in a lot of events, such as going barefoot to raise awareness about children without shoes, to doing back stage work for multiple plays for the college.
Bang for the buck The prices are not too outrageous, and it's nice knowing that a few scholarships and grants can help someone out with the price of tuition!
Tips for prospective students 1. Be yourself
2. Have fun
3. Don't be afraid to ask for help
4. Attend some of the events! They are a blast!
5. Keep up-to-date on your classes and future classes
6. Keep an eye on your degree, and any changes in the programGreat for these types of students Anybody! This college is for everyone!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors use a combination of styles that span pretty much every range of learning styles...though you don't always end up with someone you can easily learn from. The libraries, TA's, office hours, and tutors are all available, though, if you need them. The Math and Statistics Learning Center offers free tutoring, which I utilized during finals week.
Am enjoying being here The food is good at all the places I've tried, and I enjoy the Fresh Express that's in Morrill Tower, and Kennedy Commons, which is a buffet-style dining place. There are also places that deliver food with great deals and, of course, delicious places like Chipotle. In my opinion, you don't have to starve. The campus is really wonderful, with places to workout (i.e. the RPAC) and sidewalks everywhere. In fact, sometimes new sidewalks appear overnight. It's a bit large at first, but you get used to it and the walking. If you're not a walking/biking fan, the campus bus system has regular routes, but the times vary due to traffic and you would be better off walking, say, if you had only 10 minutes to get to class.
Bang for the buck I'm an out-of-state student, so I pay a little bit more than your average Ohioan, but I'd definitely say it's worth the extra tuition fee. It may depend on what program you're in, but I'm in engineering, and I'm definitely learning a lot. The classes are harder but, as my grandpa said, If it's not challenging, then you're not learning anything.
Tips for prospective students I came here for the large community and the opportunities, and I am not disappointed. There's also a lot of school spirit, which is awesome. The first year experience program combined with the honors program really makes you feel like less than a number and more like an individual. Definitely try to get into the honors program. The classes are harder, but they are also curved more in your favor and you get priority scheduling! I cannot stress how important that is, especially if you don't want your planned 4-year stretch to be pushed into more than 4 years because you couldn't get into a class you wanted. I'd say the best thing would be to visit, because that's what really influenced my decision. The entire atmosphere of the campus intrigued me, and I really like it here. There's really a place for everyone here, but it all comes down to whether or not the campus and setup works for you.
Great for these types of students If you like opportunities, people, learning, working out, having fun, etc....

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot You know how teachers always tell you to apply what you learned in the class, to outside the class? Until I came to OSU, I never really tried to do this. But I find that even in my non-major classes, I am fascinated by the things I'm learning. I am actually thinking about the lessons after class is out, and applying them to real life! The curriculum is designed to help students succeed, and I'm getting a lot more out of classes than I expected... even the 100+ student lectures.
Am enjoying being here It can be intimidating, coming into a school of OSU's size. But truthfully, there are so many ways to get involved and meet people, it's hard to find an unfriendly face. Even for people like myself, who can be shy and don't like to go to huge parties, I'm loving this school. There's always something to do, and I've met some great people along the way that have made my experience complete.
Bang for the buck College will be expensive no matter where you go. While the tuition is not that bad compared to other colleges, it can be difficult to get scholarships through the school. It's not a huge deal, it just means that you may need to look for financial aid elsewhere. But as far as getting what you payed for, it's right on. The education is great, the facilities are new and well-kept, and the food is actually good for you.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! You'll hear this a million times, but it's the absolute truth. Stay active while in high school, because showing the diversity and/or commitment of your activities will impress the people looking at your application. And if you go to OSU, just go for it: find an obscure club to join, eat at each dining hall, visit each of the 14 libraries. There's always something new to explore, so don't limit yourself.
Great for these types of students I know this may be vague, but it's really great for anyone. Whether you're outgoing or shy, athletic or prefer the indoors, in-state or international, you will find your niche. It is such a diverse campus that you're bound to find the place where you're most comfortable. I highly recommend OSU!

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot The academics are amazing. This is one of the few schools in the state that offer my major, Zoology. The classes are the perfect size for me, and the school offers so many tutoring and study group services.
Will enjoy being here I first applied to this school because of how close it is to home, but this school now feels like home. The Oval is beautiful and relaxing, and the Thompson Library is perfect to get away and study. Ohio State is extremely welcoming and it is the perfect school for me.
Bang for the buck This school is an exceptional value money-wise. So much is included in the cost, like free concert tickets and free recreational facility use and free use of so many other places on campus, that this school is worth the cost.
Tips for prospective students I would like to advise that even though this school is one of the biggest in the nation, it does not feel like it. The size was intimidating to me, but I quickly got over that.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The amount and breadth of the material I have learned here so far is unmatched. So far, I have taken a wide variety of courses and I don't think that there has been one that I haven't learned at least something from. There is a first year seminar class here too which students take during there first year, and this is extremely helpful for students who are sometimes overwhelmed by how big and immense the school is at first.
Am enjoying being here The amount of people that are at this university is quite possibly the biggest asset. I have met students from practically every part of Ohio, in addition to students from around the US and the rest of the world. There is an especially large Asian population on campus and I have enjoyed learning more about their culture and it's always fun to hear stories from them about how life is different in the US. In addition, there are almost 1000 clubs and organizations here as well and there is something here for everyone. One of my personal favorites is the inner tube water polo team!
Bang for the buck I believe that I am really getting the bang for my buck so far at this university. I was worried going in that I couldn't get that one on one attention from faculty because there are too many students on campus, but after arriving, I discovered that this was not the case. I recently took an English class, which I wasn't sure what to expect going in to the class, but throughout the quarter the teacher learned all of our names and that really stood out and made me feel like I was getting my money's worth. It made me feel like I wasn't just a number and someone who was just throwing money away and not getting any personal attention
Tips for prospective students 1. Apply early to be eligible for scholarships
2. Study abroad because there is a program for everyone (even engineers)
3. Take a class just for fun
4. Don't let the size intimidate you, you'll see that it's actually an asset when you get thereGreat for these types of students 1. Someone who wants to meet people from around the globe and the US
2. Someone who wants a big city but not have to always have a big city feel
3. Someone who loves a game of great football!Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes here at OSU are chock-full of information and are 99% of the time taught by people who care about what they teach. Often there are review sessions and help from groups of teaching assistants for many of the more difficult classes like organic chemistry and genetics.
Am enjoying being here I have gone to both the Marion campus and the Columbus campus. They are different from each other in terms of size of both space and enrollment, but both are great. Each campus has its unique qualities that offer students there the best education. If you're interested in a smaller school, try the regional campuses like Marion, or if you like blending in with the crowd, go to the Columbus Main campus.
Bang for the buck I can get more education at The Ohio State University for about 1/4 the cost compared to another college that I considered going to. In addition, that college was going to use some of OSU's resources and lab equipment! Talk about a rip-off! OSU also offers a lot of private financial aid along with funding from the government, if you apply before the first of March each year.
Tips for prospective students If you want a high-quality education for less money from a well-respected university that even has a famous football team, you should definately apply at OSU. You get your own email account, have many opportunities outside of class like doing research with faculty members, and the campuses are clean and well-cared for.
My number one tip for applying students is to make sure you apply for financial aid before March 1 of each year. This will give you a greater chance for receiving financial aid. Also, try not to take more than 15 - 20 credit hours (under the quarter system) your first term so you get an accurate feel of what a typical college course load is like. More than that will leave you exhausted and feeling like college is too difficult to be worthwhile.Great for these types of students OSU is great for people who want to spend less time paying off loans after they graduate. It is also good for those who want to go on to graduate school. If you like variety, you will find it at OSU. It is a school that offers majors in anything from agriculture (there is a farm right in the middle of the suburbs!) to business or chemistry. If you apply here, you have made an excellent choice.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are challenging but rewarding. The courses often seem to overlap within departments and making easier to understand from multiple perspectives. The professors and TA's offer endless opportunities to insure that you understand the material presented.
Am enjoying being here At first I was nervous to go to such a huge school. But between classes and the people I lived and went to class with my world shrunk to a manageable size. The buses that loop through campus make going to class in bad weather bearable and most classes tend to be close together once you get into your major.
Bang for the buck With all the tuition you pay you get incredible deals. You ride the COTA buses around town for free, have access to the many physical activities buildings and get free and discounted tickets for many attractions and concerts all over Columbus. With the student activity fee, the possibilities become infinite as to who will come to campus and perform.
Tips for prospective students Study but remember that sometimes you need a night for yourself. Don't get so stressed out that once a week you can't relax and go out or have a movie night in with friends.
Great for these types of students Anyone really. I was drawn by the fact that I could start over. I'm a new and happier person than I was in high because of the experiences I've had here. People can start over or let their colors shine brighter at The Ohio State University. Unlimited activities for those who have to keep moving and 180 majors for those who can't decide.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Professors at The Ohio State University thoroughly fulfill their top priority of pushing students to his/her full potential. The university offers virtually countless rigorous and enlightening courses for students. With over 175 majors to offer (majors.osu.edu, 2011) Ohio State is nationally renowned as a top university for academics. The opportunities presented for students to excel academically at Ohio State are limitless.
Am enjoying being here I love The Ohio State University unconditionally. Ohio State is a campus thriving with school spirit. This university makes students genuinely proud to be a Buckeye. While the academics at Ohio State are superior to many schools, the school pride found at Ohio State is superior to ANY school. One can practically feel the energy from the student body during our football and basketball games. It is not uncommon to wear scarlet and gray everyday of the week. President E. Gordon Gee is highly upheld by students for creating such an spirited environment at Ohio State. OSU offers hundreds of student-run organizations, anything from the Marathon Club to Block-O. Ohio State has many traditions, such as Beat Michigan Week, Flash Mobs in the Ohio Union, the Mirror Lake Jump, the 24-hour dance off fundraiser, and many more. An Ohio State student is proud to take part in these numerous spirited traditions and positively represent the university. Go Bucks!
Bang for the buck The tuition at Ohio State is reasonable. This school is the package deal. Ohio State not only offers top-notch academics, but also social benefits. Students have countless opportunities to intern, network, and build social relationships for the future. Each major has a highly-developed program that works to train students and give them hands-on experiences. Ohio State students are destined for success. One is never bored at OSU: there is ALWAYS something going on. In other words, you will never be bored. Whether it be a sporting event, or a movie on the oval, an event hosted in our new student union, the Ohio Union, or studying hours for a chemistry exam, Ohio State never lets down when it comes to activities. The price of Ohio State's tuition is well-worth all the opportunities and experiences that students are presented with.
Tips for prospective students Have a positive attitude!!! Always be willing to positively represent Ohio State, and yes, that means stocking up on scarlet and gray t-shirts. Get involved: Ohio State offers countless opportunities to students. One can get involved within their major or within a hobby. For example, there's a club for math majors, but there is also an OSU Quidditch Team for all the Harry Potter fanatics. Go to the sporting events! What better way to show off your Buckeye pride than by screaming in the stands at a football game? Get a picture with E. Gordon Gee and Brutus: fact, you will be presented with an opportunity to meet the President of this highly established university...and when you do, be ready. My final tip is this, embrace every aspect of Ohio State, from the dorm life to your classes to the food to the tradition, to the thriving city of C-Bus, be PROUD to be a Buckeye.
Great for these types of students Ohio State caters to all students. Being one of the three largest universities in the nation, the student body consists of a variety of students. My freshman year, I met the individual who was ranked number one in the world at World of Warcraft. More importantly, I met some of my best friends. During your time at Ohio State, you will make genuine friends and unforgettable memories. Ohio State has great school spirit activities for extroverts, but also an expansive library for introverts. Ohio State is great because it has no limits: whatever piques your interest, I assure you, it can be found in the heart of downtown Columbus at The Ohio State University.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Professors- sometimes you get good ones and sometimes you get bad ones. Regardless, you pay their salary and I have not had one professor who I have felt has been rude when visiting during office hours. All of mine have wanted to help me succeed. Also the multitude of class, major, and minor choices really help you hone in on your interests and what you excel in. There are also many skilled and knowledgeable advisors, and it is very rare that you cannot get a question answered at OSU (unless you're a researcher of course...).
Am enjoying being here ABSOLUTELY. As long as you throw yourself out there for the college experience you will enjoy yourself at OSU. Even if you don't, eventually people will hunt you down and make you have fun, and for less socially interactive people, there are so many libraries and nooks and crannies that you can take a book to and just chill and read for when you want to be alone.
Bang for the buck Very affordable (especially instate) and many many scholarships for all types of people.
Tips for prospective students Go to Office Hours, Go to BuckIFrenzy, Go to the Involvement Fair and DO EVERYTHING you can to be involved because that's how you'll make your friends and feel accomplished. OSU has anything anyone could ever dream possible, and if it's not there already, you can do it yourself :) Also, Gordon Gee is treated like a rockstar because he basically is one.
Great for these types of students Those who are strong in any field. The majors are so diverse, as are the clubs, internships, jobs, and opportunities you can find there. Even if you're a small school person, you can find the small school feel within your dorm, honors & scholars communities, in seminars or clubs.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The academics are tough but the professors are there for you during their office hours.
Am enjoying being here I definitely enjoy being here, it's a blast. OSU is a city in on itself.
Bang for the buck Bang for the buck? We are the Bucks! Most definitely, there are free concerts and events for students all the time.
Tips for prospective students Study hard, get that GPA where it needs to be. Also, get involved....A LOT.
Great for these types of students any type of student. OSU has everything. More than a 1000 clubs. It is one of the largest campuses in the nation. There will be something here, for anyone and everyone.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ohio State makes learning applicable to real life. The teaching staff teaches you life skills that you never thought you would learn in a classroom. Classes here are fast paced and dense with information, but you learn a great amount of information. There are also many opportunities to learn outside the classroom as well, through research and numerous study abroad opportunities.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely LOVE my life at Ohio State. I am involved with a variety of organizations that I greatly enjoy, and I am taking classes that I love and that ACTUALLY teach me things that I will use in the real world. I have found my niche here at Ohio State, and I'm sure you will too.
Bang for the buck While OSU's tuition seems expensive, it is actually one of the cheapest in the state of Ohio. Your tuition goes toward an amazing experience. You have access to the incredible physical activity centers across campus, numerous FREE concerts and events put on by OUAB, as well as other unique and amazing opportunity both in and out of the classroom.
Tips for prospective students The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to get involved! This is the easiest way to meet new people who have similar interests and passions that you do. Go to the involvement fairs and see all of the organizations you can get involved with!
Great for these types of students Ohio State is a great school for students who are motivated, hard working, enthusiastic, and for those who have the drive to succeed.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I've looked over the course listing and sat in a few classes and I've learned both academic things an things about myself.
Will enjoy being here The view is so beautiful at any time of day, the people are nice, friendly an helpful. There's so much to do!
Bang for the buck It seems pricey, but if you work hard and get some scholarships, they help you out so much! The admissions counselors help a lot too and sometimes find scholarships you missed.
Tips for prospective students Look around and visit the places you're interested in. This is where you'll be spending the next chunk of your educational life. If you don't think it's fabulous, wait a while, come back then make your decision. Visit the cool landmarks-the library, the oval, the shoe. Learn the legends and the fun facts. It makes your college visit more enjoyable.
Great for these types of students Outgoing, artistic, fun-loving, real students, and above all, people who love the buckeyes!!!!!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are challenging. While this is difficult, it is also much more interesting than high school. I am being challenged to think about things for myself and ask why stuff happens rather than just blindly believing that it does. I really enjoy that.
Am enjoying being here Not only are the classes fun, but the people are amazing. My professors are all willing to meet with students to help or even just talk, and I have made so many great friends already. I wouldn't trade this experience for the world.
Bang for the buck While it is a little expensive, the quality of education is definitely worth it. You can take so many different classes, from math, science, and English, to chocolate sciences. With all of the available opportunities, it'd be weird if it didn't cost as much as it does.
Tips for prospective students Don't push yourself too hard. High school and college are not the same, and the classes here are not your high school classes. You may not get that 4.0, and you may not be able to take all of the classes that you want to right away. Don't worry, you have time.
Great for these types of students Anyone who wants to have a whole world of options, especially people unsure about their majors. This is also a great research school, and just about anyone can find some kind of research or even some group to join.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Ohio State University is easily the best school to attend in Ohio. I visited other schools, but none of them were like Ohio State. Some are intimidated by the size of the school, but it's so easy to make friends, and with such a great sense of community, the college seems rather small after your first quarter. The teachers expect a lot from you, but they're also always willing to help. If you are having any reservations about applying for Ohio State, I encourage you to reconsider.
Am enjoying being here I've met so many new people through clubs, intramurals, my dorm, and class, and there are always so many things to do! You can catch a free movie at the new student union, or attend an event that interests you. There is something to do on campus every night, and High St. has a ton of places to eat, shop, and hang out with your friends!
Bang for the buck Although Ohio State just raised it's tuition, it's still incredibly cheap for what you're getting- a great education from a renowned faculty, and friendships that last a life time!
Tips for prospective students Take a tour here and apply. Once you see what the school has to offer, you'll know that this is the place for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes here are definitely useful. I've learned so much since I started here. I haven't had a bad lecturer yet. A couple foreign ones but even they were good professors.
Am enjoying being here It's great here! It may be a huge campus but it really doesn't feel that big. Some of the lectures may have a lot of people in them but office hours are available and TA's are always useful for more personal help.
Bang for the buck If you can, commute. It cuts the cost in half. You may get a good education but living on campus is expensive. Theres also a bunch of fees for all the stuff that goes on around campus, such as the RPAC fee, COTA fee, general activity fee, etc.
Tips for prospective students STUDY!!!!!!! I was never really much of a studier in high school, but I learned the hard way that studying is an absolute necessity in college. Especially if you're an Honors student, expect to spend at least 20 hours outside of class doing homework, projects, studying, or some combination.
Great for these types of students Those willing to work. I mean, it is college. You can have some fun but keep in mind that you're paying a lot of money to be there so don't let your grades slip. Also if you like to get involved, there's definitely and organization for you, since there's close to 1000 on campus

Will enjoy being here The campus is large and has a lot of diversity. There are so many activities to get involved in it is incredible!
Bang for the buck As far as price goes it is average. There is a lot to do up there but there is usually a cost.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot There are many options for majors here, and although it is a large school, smaller communities are created within each major.
Will enjoy being here There are many opportunities to meet people, as so many attend here, and so much to do on campus, as it is near a big city.
Bang for the buck It is inexpensive for in-state residents, and affordable for out of state residents, and it is worth paying for.
Tips for prospective students Don't be intimidated by the size of the school, it simply shows that there are many opportunities there, and there are smaller groups within such a large school.
Great for these types of students Basically any major can be taken here, but there is an especially wonderful engineering program at OSU.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Really knowledgeable, friendly, helpful professors, so don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. You can choose how big or small a class you prefer (and recitations are smaller), which is great for such a big campus.
Am enjoying being here LOVE it here - there's so much to do here, so you don't ever have to be bored. All kinds of groups and organizations for anyone to join, tons of intramural sports, and you can attend any sporting event (aside from football & men's basketball) for free! The traditions are pretty awesome too! So many ways to find your niche and create a smaller community feeling on a large campus!
Bang for the buck Tuition's kind of high, but if you do some work looking for scholarships it's not so bad and in-state tuition isn't bad! With the best faculty and professors, you definitely get your money's worth in your education!
Tips for prospective students Get involved! It's the best way to make the campus not feel so big and a great way to meet people and network yourself for later on when you're looking for internships, careers, recommendation letters, etc. and get to know your professors - they like getting to know you and it'll be helpful if you fall behind in a class and need extra help or if you need a recommendation letter for an internship or grad school!
Great for these types of students Everyone! There's so many things to do and get involved in that you'll fit in somewhere and find your own home away from home.
