Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The academic programs are great and the teachers really inspire student to absorb what they are teaching.
Am enjoying being here The school has a problem with not guiding their students. There are great people working in the admissions office and councilors office but they just don't have enough time to truly help the students choose the correct classes for themselves. If students don't talk with one another about degree programs and the classes needed then they'll end up in a class they don't need or don't like.
Bang for the buck The tuition of Pikes Peak is a decent price and financial aid really helps too. For my last semester which was 14 credit hours I paid 1600 plus books.
Tips for prospective students If you plan on going to this school make sure that you know what classes are needed for your degree. Talk to other students they can help you pick out good classes and great teachers. Do not underestimate the work load, even though it's a community college it's still college! Get your books before the first day of class and read a little. Also on the first day of class get yourself a study buddy, they will say your behind if you miss a class.
Great for these types of students This school is great for student that are just starting out and still do not know what they really want to do. Also this school is great for military students, students that have full time jobs, students with odd work hours, and student that would like to take online classes. Pikes peak is also wonderful for students that just want a certificate and not a degree.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences this is a great place to start a college education. the classes are smaller, and the teachers are great. for the price, you cannot find a better school in southern colorado.
Tips for prospective students always be on time to classes and listen to what the teachers say. if it sounds important, write it down!
Academic Rigor since this is a community college, this is not the most competitive learning environment. it is college, so not a place to be lazy either.
Dorm Life pikes peak does not have dorms.
Food and Dining the cafeteria is good, healthy food at a good price.
What to do for fun find a study group. this is a great way to meet new people and get help outside the classroom.
Bang for the buck with in-state tuition at less than $3500, earning a two year degree cannot be cheaper.
Great for these types of students students who want one-on-one help from the teacher and great interaction between fellow students.
Clubs and Activities there are limited numbers of clubs and activities at pikes peak.
Campus Safety there is a good feeling of safety and protection at pikes peak.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I've only been to Pikes Peak for one semester so far, but I feel like I've definitely entered into the college realm. Classes are far more challenging than high school, but only because each class requires more time for studying, homework, and projects.
On the plus side (or negative side---depending on your view point), the classes aren't too difficult. However, just because the classes are easy doesn't mean that the education is any less valuable.
Many of the professors at Pikes Peak also teach at UCCS. For a far cheaper price, students are receiving the same level of education as those attending a public university.Am enjoying being here I do enjoy my classes a lot. The people at PPCC are varied which makes classes fun and stimulating because you get to hear from different perspectives. However, there aren't that many activities to get involved in. Personally, I just go to my classes and head straight back home.
Bang for the buck I definitely feel that PPCC is worth the price. It's a beautiful community college, and the teachers there are helpful and know their curriculum well. For an Associate's Degree, I'd recommend going here first and then transferring to a four year college. It's the same level of education---just cheaper!
Tips for prospective students You definitely have to be your own advocate when dealing with advisers. If you plan to visit a adviser, be sure to bring plenty of questions.
Know in general what classes you need to take to transfer before you sign up for them! Many classes fill up fast.Great for these types of students Pikes Peak is perfect for students who work full-time jobs; students who just want a cheap education that's still valuable and respectable; students who struggled getting into a four year university; or students who just want to learn.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The academic programs here are definitely impressive. I would say that the level of education being taught is as good, if better, than any local university.
Am enjoying being here The people are very friendly! A lot of the students work in school functions, such as the bookstore and the library, so you see familiar faces everywhere you go! Because of the smaller enrollment, there is more of a connection between students.
Bang for the buck While the price isn't extremely cheap, you definitely get your money's worth.
Tips for prospective students Know the general career path that you want to take before starting college. It's not a requirement, it just helps you down the road. If you're not sure of your career path, take general classes like English and Science so that they'll stay with you even if you transfer degrees or majors.
Great for these types of students Anyone who lives in Colorado Springs and who wants a good education but isn't sure of their career path yet or who is on a budget. Overall, it's a great school!

Tips for prospective students Sign up quickly because the classes fill fast!
Academic Rigor Just because this is a community college doesn't mean it is easy. I spent hours and hours on just my anatomy class alone, and I had four classes.
Dorm Life No dorms.
Food and Dining The food here is good and there's a little, but nice variety.
What to do for fun There are dance classes and theater, plus clubs to attend. Also, there's a gym at the Centennial Campus for more activities and a spirit week.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I've had positive experiences so far from all the departments in Pikes Peak. The VA office is very informative and helpful as is the Advising Center and the Financial Aid Office isn't too bad either.
Tips for prospective students Register as soon as you can. The earlier the better in case any issues arise. Same thing holds true for applying for financial aid/student loans. And any Vets, this holds true more for you due to the delay at the VA processing centers.
Academic Rigor The teachers I've had this semester are stellar. I highly recommend Dr. Mandell as a math teacher, she's the best.
Dorm Life No Dorm life. Community college
Food and Dining Haven't tried the food yet but heard it's good.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The college is awesome and the staff is supper helpful! There are many resources on campus for students who are struggling with a class, such as the math lab, writing center, computer lab, and tutoring centers. The campus online resources is helpful and essay to access.
Tips for prospective students I recommend to go onto the ppcc.edu website if you need help with anything. The website has all the information you need, and it shows you the the steps you need to take. A good friend to make on campus is Coach Eddie (he is the multicultural counselor). He will help you with anything you need. Another helpful resources is going to enrollment services.
Academic Rigor There not many difficulty at Pikes Peak Community Collage. The only challenge i can think of is getting lost in the parking lot or in the building.
Dorm Life Pikes Peak Community Collage dose not providing dorms.
Food and Dining Food is awesome! They just constructed a kitchen last week, so students can have fresh delicious food!
What to do for fun The campus had lots of clubs and activities you can join. I personally am in the multicultural club. In this club we take field trips, such as going to Oklahoma and Aspen. Its lots of fun!
Great for these types of students This school is great for anyone who is looking for a low budget school.
Clubs and Activities I'm not familiar with all the clubs and activities on campus but i would recommend is the multicultural club.
Campus Safety We have police officers watching the campus 24 hours a day, so the campus is very safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences pikes peak is a great, affordable school. there are amazing teachers and advisers that are always there and ready to help. the campuses are conveniently located and are very clean and welcoming.
Tips for prospective students if you are a parent they have childcare on campus. if you are looking into a fairly easy, non-stressful program, join the cna program. it is very short and quite easy. after a couple of months you walk out with the ability to get a certification and enter the career field. it is also a great way to figure out which career path you would like to follow because the classes are affordable and they offer good financial aid options.
Academic Rigor the classes themselves are not very difficult. the nursing program is fairly difficult to get into, but i think that is the same for many schools nowadays. i think the thing that makes pikes peak better than many colleges is the teachers and faculty. the advisers send email responses daily and the teachers are always on-call to answer questions. it's a very supportive way to learn and it makes the academics a great deal easier to juggle.
Dorm Life i don't believe they provide dorms on the campuses, well at least the campus i attend.
Food and Dining the food is fine. it's no five star restaurant, but i've definitely had worse. they have affordable sodas, juices, morning and afternoon snacks. they also have many places to sit to eat, inside and outside and convenient microwaves to heat up food if you bring your own.
What to do for fun i am mostly just involved in the academic aspect of pikes peak, but they definitely have some fun things going on. now they have a student government where students run for senate, president etc. also, they have a talent show that i believe will be beginning in the next couple weeks, and they have a program where you make trash into art which is a very conscious project to promote recycling and eliminate unnecessary waste into landfills.
Bang for the buck pikes peak provides class by class payments. it is determined by the number if units the classes are. so if you are taking 6 units, you will pay less than people who are taking 9 units, or 12 units. that is different than many universities which make each student pay the same one they get to a certain number if units.
Great for these types of students there are so many classes to choose from, some during the day some at night so they definitely try to accommodate everyone. also, they provide on-site daycare for parents.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences There are many wonderful professors here at PPCC but you do need to be careful. The class schedules are flexible so that working students and parents can still find time to attend. You get quality instruction for a fraction of the cost of attending a university.
Tips for prospective students Always check the rating on any professor that you may be contemplating taking. While the are more quality instructors than bad ones, there are still instructors that really shouldn't be teaching anymore. This can make your experience a bad one. So check out your professor's rating before you even start classes.
Dorm Life There are no dorms here at PPCC.
Food and Dining The cafe is very small at the Rampart campus. If you plan on being there during lunch, save a little bit of money and bring your lunch from home.
What to do for fun There is always something going on at PPCC and there are a lot of clubs to choose from. If you don't see what you like you can create your very own club!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Overall, I feel like I am learning a lot from PPCC and I feel my teachers are preparing me to go to a university. Over my four semesters at PPCC, I have had no serious problems with any of my teachers except for one math teacher (who no one liked or respected anyway). None of my classes have been too demanding (though that obviously depends on your major), and I am academically doing slightly better at PPCC than in high school. The thing I like most about the PPCC teachers is that they expect you to behave like an adult, so they will treat you like one. The only thing I don't like the teachers is that the vast majority of PPCC teachers are adjunct, so I don't think they are as connected with each other as I would like. This can cause problem in some classes, particularly classes that cover two or more semesters, like English or Science. For example, if you take and pass English 1 and take English 2, your English 2 teacher may expect to know some things you should have learned in English 1, but your English 1 teacher did not cover. But like I said, I have been very comfortable with my teachers' teaching methods, so I personally have not had a problem with them. Overall, however, I feel I am truly being prepared for going to a university by going to PPCC, and I certainly do not regret it.
Am enjoying being here I have enjoyed my experience at PPCC. For me, PPCC has been fairly similar to high school, so that has definitely made it easier. You have plenty of new friends to potentially make, the career advisors are always available to help you with your degree plan, and there is even a student crisis center for students who need guidance with school and personal matters. I think the PPCC staff and faculty understands that college, particularly for new students, can be confusing and frustrating, so they do try to make it easy for you while making sure you are getting a valuable college education (assuming you are trying to do well!)
Bang for the buck I feel you get your money's worth from PPCC. The tuition is obviously considerably cheaper than at a university and the campus bookstore's prices are reasonable, but you still may want to look online before buying from the bookstore. There is, of course, a financial aid department and they are always very helpful. They also offer work study to financial aid students who show need for and want work study to help pay for school and gain valuable work experience. Since the majority of students who go to PPCC transfer to a universty, the advisors can help you find university transfer programs for the universities you want to go to. Like I said, I felt I have learned a lot from my teachers, and I feel the money I have spent at PPCC has been well-spent.
Tips for prospective students I believe that the purpose of going to college (aside from academics), is meeting new people and learning the value of teamwork. I think an important quality for later life is being humble enough to ask for and accept help from others. You might be surprised how much eaiser things seem when you don't have to do everything yourself. Therefore, I strongly recommend you make an effort to get to know your classmates, particularly in classes you potentially will have trouble with, and set aside time outside of class to do homework and study together. Make sure you know your teachers as well. After all, they are teaching you! They will help you if you ask. I think the same goes for applying to PPCC, class registeration, financial aid, etc. Don't try to do everything yourself. If you need help, ask. PPCC has many advisors for just that reason. But at the same time, don't expect everyone to do everything for you. You won't learn otherwise!
Great for these types of students I think PPCC, and community college in general, is great for people who have not been to school in a long time and/or people who did poorly academically in their previous school. The staff and faculty will try to make the transition easy for you. I also think PPCC is good for students who, like me, graduated high school with good grades, but feel they are not quite ready for a university. The university connection programs help with that! Based on my experiences at PPCC, I feel you can't miss attending PPCC.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I do believe I will learn a lot here. It has a comfortable environment that is peaceful and with hardly any disruptive noise
Will enjoy being here I will enjoy being here. It's close to my house, I will be attending in the morning right after I drop my children off at school and will still be home in time to have lunch with them
Bang for the buck I'm not sure if I'm getting the big bang for my buck but compared to the few colleges I have compared to, I am getting my money worth.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to go to the schools your interested in and looking around. Ask lots of questions and don't settle for something your unsure of or being rushed to do.
Great for these types of students Older, more goal oriented individuals. I believe it takes a self disciplined person to attend college so late in there life like me.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm in the Multimedia Graphic Design program here. I've had past experience with many of the programs required in the course, but I'm still learning new things about many of them. However, classes in my course don't seem to have everything sorted out: one teacher will assume you've learned something in another class, when that other teacher has completely glossed over it. While I am getting some good education, I feel like I wouldn't be completely prepared in graphic design after getting my degree here.
Am enjoying being here All the teachers are very friendly and helpful, and prepared to help people one-on-one. The class sizes are also perfect: not crowded at all, but not so small that it gets awkward. About 20 students per class.
Bang for the buck Compared to other colleges, it's pretty cheap and it's a good stepping stone to transfer into a four-year college.
Tips for prospective students The textbooks are really expensive and in most of my classes, not needed. You should check if you're definitely going to use them in your class, especially software classes (the buyback on software textbooks is about 5 dollars).
Great for these types of students People who want to get an okay education or transfer into a four-year school, but don't have a lot of money. It's not particularly stressful, either.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I would say the teach the same as any other college. There seems to be no difference between what you learn at PPCC and what you would learn at the universities when it comes to the Associates degrees.
Am enjoying being here For the most part, the professors and faculty are really nice and helpful. The only thing that makes it less enjoyable is that they change up the process for the loans and don't always change the current student page but they do change the prospective student page. This makes taking out loans and dealing with financial aid, even more of a problem than it is considering they close the offices at 5.
Bang for the buck The classes seem to be the same as any other college, and most are available online.
Tips for prospective students Call to make sure financial aid went through as well as COF(if you are able to use it).
Great for these types of students they do have online classes that are great for those who work, however not all are available online. I would say they are great for the type of students who need alternatives to the standard college Monday through Friday, work part time plan.
