Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot How much you learn here is completely up to you. Your schedule is created by you; this makes it easy to find a way for college to fit your life, but also to allow yourself to slack. Pima Community College is not a huge step from high school but a perfect transition into a university due to it's smaller class sizes and because the staff wants to see you succeed. With this being said, the more interaction with my teachers that I receive here at Pima allows me to learn all the information they are teaching me, and to understand my assignments instead of struggling though them confused.
Am enjoying being here I am enjoying being here at Pima Community College because it is very close to home, but even if it weren't I am still meeting plenty of new people not only around Tucson, but also from around the world. I like this school because it isn't exceedingly hard that I would want to drop out like most university students, but in face it makes me work harder to earn excelling grades.
Bang for the buck At Pima Community College the teachers are extremely qualified and teach you personally. You can get a great education here, and join many of the programs they offer, such as the medical center, for a tuition less than half of what an university charges. And since the schedule creation is in your hands, you can transfer or earn your associates degree in record timing by taking full time credit hours.
Tips for prospective students A very important tip for prospective students is to not let yourself slack. In a college it is up to you to get your work done. Some of your teachers at Pima will encourage you and remind you to an extensive level what assignments are due and win, but there are some that leave it all up to you to keep track of your syllabus or the online announcements. Time management will make your college career much more simpler, and planners or simply writing down all your assignments and due dates ahead of time will really help you.
Great for these types of students Pima Community College is great for students that want to earn their associates degree or simply transfer to a university, because the tuition is affordable and the teaching is personal with small class sizes. Transfer students can save thousands of dollars by attending Pima and avoiding freshman and sophomore high university tuition costs.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences at pima community college they really want you to succeed and they are very helpful at getting you there. the classes are small and the teachers, for the most part, are attentive. pima is a great place to start before you attend a university because it prepares you for college life, but doesn't overwhelm you.
Tips for prospective students the best tip for pima community college would be to research your teachers before class starts, that way you can find someone that would best suit you. another tip would be to register for class early because the lines can get ridiculous and the best classes get taken first.
Academic Rigor pima community college has many different classes to choose from and many degrees.
Dorm Life there are no dorms at pima community college.
Food and Dining the food in the cafeteria can be expensive but made fresh, or there are little food shops that are good for a quick pick-me-up in between classes.
What to do for fun there are many club one can choose to be a part of. there are all types of events that pima hosts. the center for the arts is always putting on plays, dance performances, and musical performances.
Bang for the buck pima community college is not as expensive as universities, yes out of state students pay more, but it is still less then you would pay in most places.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot From normal school stuff (academics) to abnormal (Powerpoint, Excel, Word tricks) to local (stuff about Tucson) to just plain fun (I took a class called Defensive Tactics for Law Enforcement), I have learned a lot at Pima. It is very easy to find a quite spot to study and read, and there are plenty of computers to do research on if the you need them.
Am enjoying being here Smaller campuses that are (for the most part) secluded on the edges of town and have the desert right within them, Pima is a very nice place to be. The teachers, since they have fewer students to deal with, are very personal and greet you semesters after you take their class. The other students you see also are very friendly, and there are several free clubs to join, depending on your interests.
Bang for the buck Put simply: Pima costs about $55 per credit hour (as of fall 2009).
Parking is free.
Tutoring help is free.
The clubs are free.
Most events that come with food only cost $5.Tips for prospective students Check Pima out before you graduate. If you live in Tucson, you might even be able to register as a student before you graduate. That gives you a huge boost in enrolling for classes since you will not be a New Student the fall semester.
Talk to the advisers. They are very helpful and friendly. Try to get the same one each time.
Check out the scholarships that Pima offers. There are lots of them.Great for these types of students Since Pima is much smaller than the University of Arizona, it is great for those students who come from smaller schools or who were homeschooled (like me). Also, since Pima has lots of night/weekend/at-your-own-pace classes, it is great for people who have to work full time or have kids.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I love there classes here. I go to the downtown campus and have also done plenty of online classes. So what you need to know before you start is to have some kind of idea of what you want to major and minor in. This is super helpful because while going to PCC you should take classes that are specific to that course. Some general ed classes aren't necessary with some majors you might want to take.
Am enjoying being here The campus is super beautiful and has an amazing library. It's not nearly as big as the UofA's library but it is more comfy and cheerful. The staff at PCC is super helpful and nice. Helpful tip: Sit at the diner looking booths in the library. Not only is it super cool, but the seats are really comfy.
Bang for the buck So if you decide to go to PCC first, before you head off to an university lots of props to you. Not only is it more economically smart but you can get done faster that way. So well at Pima take your general ed for the major you want to take. This is better then doing it at the university because not only will it be a WHOLE lot cheaper but you have smaller classes that will be more focused and student- teacher relations are better.
Tips for prospective students STUDY. I know college is a party place, but you have to study at least two hours a day if you want to make it. You will still have time to relax and hangout, trust me. Rent your text books from chegg. It's a lot cheaper then buying your books and chegg will plant a tree anywhere in the world with every rental purchase which is pretty sweet.
Great for these types of students Pima Community College is great for any type of student really. From young to old you can find it at PCC. They have a multitude of campuses all over Tucson and offer online classes so you can have a flexible schedule for work. Don't forget to check out the library at the down town campus. :)

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Pima Community College is a great place to continue your educational experience. This college provides people with the opportunity to continue their educational goals without the outrageous cost of a university. Pima has a variety of courses that you can choose from.
Tips for prospective students Start off with a couple of classes during your first semester, just so you wont get overwhelmed. Take some online courses if you are interested in transfering to a university where you might have to take some.
What to do for fun Play sports
Bang for the buck Attending Pima first before a unversity will save you lots of money!
Great for these types of students For anyone!

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Utilize all the offered resources. There's always help that's generously offered. Tutors are available every day. If you have self paced classes and need support to set up a schedule of study, contact a counselor to help you determine the required study time per particular class to match with the open lab hours. The library is open 12 hours per day and the staff will help with any computer challenges. Again, I cannot stress enough, use your resources and you will be successful.
Great for these types of students Returning students, fresh from high school students, new to college older students. Everyone!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This is a great college to start out at. The professors are all extremely helpful and flexible with their office hours to accommodate students with busy schedules of their own. Their are also tutors for nearly every class at all of the campuses around Tucson. The classes are also a lot smaller than big universities, meaning you get a lot more one-on-one interaction with the instructors.
Am enjoying being here Everyone is nice and with campuses all over Tucson it's easy to take classes, no matter where in the city you live. The campuses are also easy to get to using public transportation if you don't have a car.
Bang for the buck PCC is incredibly affordable. An in-state student could easily take a full course load and buy all of their books for less than a thousand dollars a semester. It's also a lot easier to get in and talk to advisers compared to big universities. It's a lot more personable and it seems like your money isn't just going towards classes, but towards a great experience with people who care.
Tips for prospective students PCC offers a lot of services for students. Take advantage of them all. They offer free career counseling, free financial counseling, free tutoring, and the professors all have office hours and most are willing to be flexible to fit your schedule. At PCC you aren't alone. Always feel free to ask for help if you need anything; everyone wants to see you succeed.
Great for these types of students PCC is great for students just coming out of high school. Because it's smaller it's harder to get lost in a see of faces, meaning that the professors actually care about each student and want to see them succeed and continue on with their education. It's also a great school for people who have to work full time. They have classes at all times of the day, classes on weekends, and a plethora of classes that you can take online.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot So certain classes have more 'learning' being done than others, if you really care about learning vs getting the easy A, you can just check rateyourprofessor.com. Most of the prerequisite teachers understand that they are just a class that most people don't want to take so they teach the basics. While the actual classes like the Respiratory, Computer Graphics, Psychology classes have really nice teachers who teach well.
Am enjoying being here It's so different from high school, the campus is nice, the wild animals that some times show up are pretty cool. The food is wonderful for being so cheap. They have a nice Ramada outside where you can just hang out with friends.
Bang for the buck As someone said before it's $55ish per credit. If you get financial aid AND go full time here, you will still have a lot of money left over after paying classes, and buying books. Free tutoring, free WIFI, free Foosball table (lol)
Tips for prospective students Definitely try financial aid, go to an adviser your first semester to help set you up. And join a club, its fun!
Great for these types of students Great for students who need the mornings off, and can only go to school at night, who don't want to pay a lot, and want to learn a lot.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers are great, as long as you keep up with the homework there never is problems!
Am enjoying being here Everyone on campus is friendly, and you get to meet a lot of new people.
Tips for prospective students It is a wonderful choice, especially if you can't afford much alone, all my teachers have been UofA teachers and even the Pima teachers are great. Since there are many campuses, you don't have to live in a specific area in order to attend school, they provide for you by having varities of schools all over tucson. Same with the times, I've taken classes bright shining early to late evening and they all work well for me.
Great for these types of students If you have a specific goal in mind, and they happened to have your major at Pima it's a great choice! If you don't know what you want to do, you might be behind a semester or two because the classes go by too quickly to figure it out while everyone else is working on their majors!

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot Compared to other community colleges, the faculty here and the programs are a complete failure. My classes didn't even transfer, though they were basic computer science classes.
Did enjoy being here I despise this school. There are more alcohol and drugs than homework assignments here.
Bang for the buck I have heard that it is a really good price for in-state students, but I came in out of state and I had to take out loans. I was very upset.
Tips for prospective students If you are serious about your education, go somewhere else
Great for these types of students People who are more interested in partying than learning.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot How much you learn completely depends on your professor. Tutoring is available for students who need extra help but sometimes the professors depend on this so they do not have to answer as many questions. It is a very good idea to take assessment tests on as many subjects as you can because it is very frustrating to be in a class that is too low a level for you.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the learning atmosphere very much but there are little to no social activities for students to attend. It would be extremely enjoyable if there were dances or other social events to get students involved in the school community.
Bang for the buck This is a much better deal than attending a university for general education requirements. In addition, many of the professors that work at PCC also work at the University of Arizona, which gives students that are wanting to transfer sort of a head start in getting to know the staff.
Tips for prospective students Take as many assessment tests as you can and talk to an adviser before you enroll in classes.
Great for these types of students Great for students on a tight budget and for those who need a flexible school schedule to fit in with a busy working schedule.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Pima offers clean campuses, good teachers, and helpful staff. The class sizes are small. Many teacher have the ability to teach a more student centered class due to the smaller size.
Tips for prospective students If you are going to do financial aid I suggest getting it in during the spring semester. I had the most trouble with that.
What to do for fun Pima has sports teams and fitness classes along with arts and music.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences PCC is a great place to start your college career. Because of the small class sizes you can get a one on one experience with your professors and it's easy to get to know fellow classmates. They also make it insanely easy to transfer to The University of Arizona like I did!!
Tips for prospective students My number one tip to future PCC students is to know your advisers. College, is well college, so finding your way around academically is hard at first and that's where the adviser comes in. They help you figure out what classes you need to take and where you can find all sorts of help through out the various campus's around Tucson. Also, as cliche as this may sound, don't be afraid to ask questions! If something doesn't make sense, ask the teacher to clarify, or if you don't know what's going on with class schedules, email an adviser and they can help! And last but not least, HAVE FUN!
Academic Rigor Community colleges are obviously not as rigorous as universities but you still have to stay on top of your game. Like schools everywhere, the difficulty of class mostly depends on the instructor.
Dorm Life Pima doesn't have any dorms, but most of the campus's have housing of some kind near by that are student friendly.
Food and Dining All the campus's have small cafe type places where you can grab a bite to eat and study. Wi-fi is free, too. However, the prices are ridiculous, but these little places are perfect for quick and on the go snacks and drinks. There are also vending machines scattered around the campus's.
What to do for fun Pima offers a number of clubs and sports that students can join and get into. Because Tucson is also home to The University of Arizona, there are great places around the Pima Downtown Campus for students to enjoy music, movies, dinner, study and much much more!
Great for these types of students PCC is great for students looking for a smooth transition from high school to a 4 year university. It's also perfect for those going back to school because of the small class sizes and convenient times of classes like evening and weekend classes.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Pima is not what I expected from a community college. The campus is pretty advanced, the teachers all seem to have a legitimate knowledge of their courses, and it has a real university feel. Save for the abhorrent registration nightmare, the school itself is well worth the trouble.
Tips for prospective students Figure out what you want to do, and get to it. Don't waste too much time taking classes to explore your interests or to earn a few extra credits.
Academic Rigor If, by academic rigor, you are interested in the difficulty of the courses, they are college courses. Don't think that community college is any easier than a typical university.
Dorm Life I live at home, so I'll just say the dorms are great.
Food and Dining Vending machines and soda dispensers aplenty, and the cafe food isn't too bad either.
What to do for fun I don't spend much time hanging out at school; I get in, learn, and get out.
Bang for the buck There is plenty of knowledge contained in this establishment. It's worthwhile, and you can keep your arms AND your legs.
Great for these types of students If you're good with a computer, Pima's good for you. There's plenty of technology, right at your fingertips.
Clubs and Activities I am not personally a member of any clubs, but I DO peruse the bulletin boards occasionally, and there's plenty of variety out there.
Campus Safety There's plenty of Po-Po around, and I haven't really heard about anything major happening on campus.

Tips for prospective students Check out all the campuses and see which one you think you'd like best. talk to advisers and see what school will fit your desired schedule best. Don't hesitate to ask, people are always willing to help.
Academic Rigor I've never attended a university so i can't judge the academics but from what i learned at the school, its a pretty neat school.
Dorm Life Unfortunately there's no dorms here but there are close by apartments which are situated like dorms in a way. They are fairly cheaper than most apartments in town but are a great way to get out on your own.
Food and Dining It's Tucson, AZ, a smaller town than Phoenix but there is still stuff to do and places to go.
What to do for fun Depending on your taste, there are a few night clubs and bars to see (if you are of age.) but nothing too amazing. it's a small town with all the essential needs. Not to mention it's right down the street from the University of Arizona.
Bang for the buck it's a great small town to start in but eventually you'll want to find your way to a university or another bigger city.
Great for these types of students it's great for anyone. Whether it's an adult parent returning to school or a fresh out of high school student wanting to start slow. Even out of the country residents would find it a nice place to start..
Clubs and Activities Many clubs to choose from you just have to take initiative and commit to joining one.
Campus Safety Campus safety is there when you need them. whether you're looking for a building or need help, they are there for you.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Pima Community College has a wonderful student and teacher ratio, where the instructor can work with each student. A big plus when a teacher can remember my name. Overall, the campus is just the right size for me.
Tips for prospective students Remember to double check your classes and make sure that each entry is correct before submitting it. Understand the deadlines for enrollment, drops and withdrawing from classes. And finally, take advantage of work study programs and other types of financial aid that is available at no cost.
Academic Rigor Alot of courses to choose from ranging from online, 4, 5, 8, and 16 weeks. Very convenient.
Dorm Life No dorms.
Food and Dining Pima on East Campus has a small cafe that is cozy and in the main building. I would enjoy more choices of food selections.
What to do for fun I have not found any interesting groups yet but their usually listed on mypima.edu under Student Life.
Bang for the buck Pima is one of the lowest tuition colleges in the state of Arizona and that attracted me to this school.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the teachers are really hit or miss in terms of quality. another struggle is to find the students that are there because they know what they really want from an eduction among the students who are not as motivated. all in all, i think it is much better than spending the first two years at a university (i have done both).
Tips for prospective students take advantage of office hours; these teachers generally seem to really want to help you. withdraw from a class if you aren't going to do well in it. stay calm and carry on!
What to do for fun read books in the library. get to know the staff and faculty. be a part of the honors society.

Bang for the buck honestly i am an adult, a single mother who is returning to college to better the life of my children and for myself. i so far really love this school for what they can offer for the price. compared to a university like the u of a where the cost is extreme. in my eyes depending on what type of education or major you want pima has a lot to offer.

Tips for prospective students If you are going here, don't plan to experience the college atmosphere. There aren't many things to do at this school.
Academic Rigor Teachers seem to give large amounts of homework. The work isn't that hard, it's more time consuming.

Food and Dining I have seen some cafeteria type food places on campus. I've been to a few of them and haven't seen many places to eat. Best bet is to eat at surrounding restraunts if you are feeling hungry.

Bang for the buck The price for attending this school is pretty good. The tuition is not all that expensive. It is definitely a great alternative for those who can't afford much.
