Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In all my classes so far, the professors really care. If you do you're work and show that them that you are there to learn, they're are their to help you. They are strict, but very fair and reasonable. Not only will the professors help, the college has resources outside of class to get you any additional help you might need. For example, there is a math lab, writing lab, and tutoring center.
Am enjoying being here Overall, I am very happy with the people I met here. Join clubs; it's a fun way to meet potentially new friends while getting involved on campus.
Bang for the buck It's a lot cheaper than a four year school, but the same quality education. It's not about where you go to school; it's about what you choose to do at the school.
Tips for prospective students The school does have scholarships; look them up, then apply.
Great for these types of students I recommend it for anyone looking for a higher education.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Prince George's Community College is a predominantly urban college and is quite diverse.
Prince George's Community College is a great school for someone who is just starting college.
Prince George's Community College has some extremely knowledgeable professors that know how to teach very well.Tips for prospective students Prospective students should try their best to focus on their studies and plan to sit in the front of their classes.
Prospective students should research their professors online because some may find that certain professors teaching methods may cater to certain learning styles.
Prospective students should try their best to maintain a high GPA because they can potentially be awarded money for doing well in school.
Prospective students should strive to do all of their homework assignments and submit them on time. They should always make copies of assignments that are to be turned in as well.
It is always a great idea to save emails that are sent from professors and to learn to periodically press save while typing papers.Academic Rigor The focal point of Prince George's Community College is to get students to Envision Success. When you have a set goal and the goal is truly important to your heart, then you will do what it takes to achieve that goal.
Your motivation should be God, yourself, and the desire to succeed in life, make a difference in the world, and help others.Dorm Life I have never lived in a dorm. However, I have lived with (family members/close people to me) who were taking classes or enrolled at the same college as me. One thing that I can say about the experience is that their is a great amount of support in peers and a great amount of empathy that is usually shared.
Another aspect of living with/near others that around the same age group is learning to adapt to the diversity of personalities and learning of the abundance of previously unknown similarities that are very fun to discover.Food and Dining Cafeteria food at Prince George's Community College is awesome! They have a special catering service that cooks many different common foods. They serve breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner foods.
I remember the cafeteria fixed Thanksgiving Dinner for the Thanksgiving holiday, and students were able to eat at decorated tables secluded from a particularly noisy environment as if they were on dates etc. It was very nice. What to do for fun For fun, students hang out in the enormous amount of lounges located on campus, laugh, joke, participate in social events, community projects, etc. There are sports teams and a track at the Largo campus. There are also many different clubs and organizations that students are urged to join.
Bang for the buck There is a variety of tutoring centers for students who may need extra help in classes.
Because there are some teachers with accents, I would encourage prospective students to try their best to research their professors online. Some people's accents are harder to understand than others.Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is an annual Seniors Prom that is held on campus where literal seniors come dance, eat, and enjoy themselves. There is also a spot on campus where some student art work is displayed and it must be quiet. It has a few benches and screens that display certain surprising statistics.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Metro accessible. Dozens of majors to choose from. Campus lifestyle similar to a 4-year college.
Tips for prospective students Apply early. Ask about scholarship and grant opportunities. They have several for Maryland residents, PG county residents, and Veterans.
Academic Rigor It really all depends on how many classes you take and what those classes are. I am a full time student and I always have homework. The teachers are always there to help you.
Dorm Life It's a community college, so no dorms.
Food and Dining I hate the cafeteria food, but it does have a nice selection including the grill, sandwiches, and daily special. There's a cafe in the CAT building that serves light snacks. Vending machines are everywhere. Unfortunately, the school is located far from any fast food establishments, there is a Subway and Target within 15 minutes of the campus.
What to do for fun There aren't that many clubs but you could still join the honor society or others. Hang out with friends. The clubs host events on campus that are open to the entire student body.
Bang for the buck $100 a credit course for in county residents. Any left over money from loans you received will go on a card you can use for anything you want.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Prince George's Community College is an excellent institution to get your general education credits from before transferring to a 4-year institution school. There are also good programs for students who are interested in vocational or trade school purposes. The student population ranges from concurrent high school students to older students who were last in school 10+ years ago.
Tips for prospective students Speak to advisors (academic, financial aid) way before the start of the semester to avoid long waits and stressed out advisors. Have an idea of what you plan to major in, however, if you don't know during the start of the semester, sticking to the General Education curriculum they have will benefit you until you do decide.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor depends on your major and teacher and semester. Summer/Winter sessions are typically easier than Fall/Spring ones. Some teachers are more better at teaching than others, but overall, mostly all teachers are qualified in the course they're teaching. Nursing majors are rarely ever seen on campus because they're always in class or studying.
Dorm Life There is no dorm life at PGCC. By attending this school, you will have to commute. The Largo and UTC campuses are easily accessible by metro. If you want to get a good parking spot, come to campus no later than 07:50am if you have an 8am class. If you are looking for a place to study, the CAT building and library are good places. During midterms or finals, you may have a hard time finding a spot. WiFi is available all over campus, however, it works best in those two places.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is a good place to go if you want to have something warm to eat in a hurry. The food is overpriced though. They offer nice home made style dishes. If you have a car, there are other restaurants to go to close by: McDonalds, Taco Bell, Cluck-U-Chicken, Subway, Starbucks, chinese restaurants. Vending machines can be found all over campus and are stocked every day.
What to do for fun Get involved with campus organizations. There is a club for almost every type of student. There is also a track and natatorium for anyone who wants to do physical activity. By the track there is a soccer/football field, baseball diamonds, as well as outdoor racketball and tennis courts. Inside the natatorium, you can find a pool, gym, and a few racketball courts.
Bang for the buck Classes are reasonably priced compared to other 4-year institutions where most credits transfer to seamlessly.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On the third floor CAT building, there is a Cyber Cafe where students can access the high speed WiFi and be in a relaxed environment if the cafeteria gets too packed. In the Math Learning Center, if you are cool with the Coordinator (help him tutor sometimes when it's busy), there are private rooms in the back for you to study with a group of your classmates. There are nice computers in Chesapeake Hall, but you would have to ask faculty to open up the computer lab for you.
Great for these types of students Students who may not be able to afford schooling at a 4-year institution just yet. If you are from the PG County area or have attended PG public schools, majority of the students who you will see are from similar situations. Students are very diverse coming from all over the world. If you are interested in meeting new people or learning about other cultures, the International Center is the place to be.
Clubs and Activities Emails will be sent to your student email account weekly about on campus events. Some events are better than others, but most of them are fun, organized events! If you don't like any of the clubs, start one! The process is not hard and they encourage you to do so!
Greek Life Greek Life is non existent at Prince George's Community College.
Campus Safety Campus police is seen all over campus even through the end of the evening classes. They answer the campus police phone very quickly. They respond quickly to emergencies and are also seen heavily paroling the parking lot.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have been attending PGCC for the past few years, and I have truly enjoyed my experience. I take regular and honors courses and sometimes (depending on the professor) the regular course are sometimes more involved.
Am enjoying being here I love that my class sizes are small, so therefore I can actually connect and get to know my professor (unlike a lot of my friends who go to universities where they are simply a number, and only talk to the teacher's assistant). The school also offers a lot of useful resources such as a tutoring center, math center, center of advanced technologies building, and a soon to be health education building.
Bang for the buck I know that my education isn't getting cheated because most, if not all of my professors teach at surrounding colleges with the SAME material. We just get it for a cheaper price and a one-on-one relationship.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professor in the first week, if not on the first day. It will definitely make your semester more worthwhile. Also, get involved in the community campus because there are a ton of activities and clubs out there for everyone.

Tips for prospective students Do your best, stay on top of you're work. Ask for advice when needed, don't be afraid to ask questions because they will ready help you in the class. Believe me, I wouldn't be here just saying this just to be saying it. The questions you ask will open more doors to you and the future that a holds to you.
Great for these types of students It's great for all around students. Everyone In my opinion.
