    Am learning a lot

I'm definitely learning more about each subject I'm taking than I did in high school in a similar subject. If I don't understand something, I just ask a teacher and he or she will work one on one with me until I get it, changing the way they try to teach me and trying to help me understand my mistakes.

    Am enjoying being here

Every student and staff member of the school is so nice! There's a very useful library I go to all the time, a very nice and helpful student success center, and a computer lab that's open all the time it seems. If you need help with anything you can ask pretty much anyone and if they can't help you by themself, they'll go out of their way to make sure you find someone who can.

    Bang for the buck

Community college I thought would be more of a bad thing, but with the economy as it is, I think everyone should go to one. The cost of my tuition (out of district) when I was enrolled in 5 classes last semester was about $1,180!!! That's wonderful for me! Especially since the teachers are focused much more on their students than on their salary; this and smaller class sizes can also help you learn more than a bigger school.

    Tips for prospective students

I highly recommend this school. If you want to graduate from a big college then I recommend this school all the more for your basics. San Jac is a 2-year school and it just makes so much more sense to me to get your basics out of the way at a lower cost school, that could also cover the basics better than a bigger school. You can still go to and graduate from your dream school (mine is UTD) this way and it wont cost as much. Just remember to make sure to take courses that your dream school will accept!
One more thing: Grades. If you want to do well, you have to put some effort in. Let the teacher know if you have a hard time figuring something out. They will help you through it. Also, listen to other students when you're registering for classes (make sure not to wait until the last minute). Some teachers are harder than others and some teachers just teach better than others. If you want to do well, make sure you show up for every class and take good notes. If you have to miss a day, talk to your professor, he/she probably understand. Having a friend or just swapping numbers and e-mails with someone is also a great thing to have or do. They can study with you or you can borrow notes from each other if you have to.
    Good luck!

Great for these types of students

I'd say that just about everyone would find a place they fit in. If you're not very social, there are wonderful places you could go to do your work in peace, in several locations you can even borrow a small room just to study or do whatever. If you're social, there are many places you could go to be around people and get work done or just talk and learn more. There is also a variety of clubs you can join that fit your interest, look good on a resume and learn with other people in.

    Am learning a lot

Most of the teachers are in love with what they teach and it makes it a lot easier to comprehend the teaching. Especially biology; i get to take everything I learn and use it in my everyday life.

    Am enjoying being here

There are nice people in the school and most of the the professors are friendly and easy to get along with.

    Bang for the buck

It;s cheaper to take the basics at a two year school than a university.

    Tips for prospective students

Study hard. Don't start slacking until the first day of vacation.

    Am learning a lot

Over the course of 4 semesters, I can say that I have learned a great deal from the professors at San Jacinto. As with any school, there have been ups and downs, but overall, the material is always taught in an organized and efficient manner. Professors are very open to questions, and will assist you until you understand the material.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus itself is very well kept and clean, and the student center area is perfect for sitting outside on a cool day to study! Most of the students are very friendly to one another, and are willing to help fellow peers with questions. The office personnel are also very nice and hard-working. The business office is very helpful and the financial aid office even more so. Overall, when I have a question or problem, at this school someone is there to help with a kind face and lots of information.

    Bang for the buck

This is where San Jacinto excells most. The education there is worth more than you are charged at the business office! Attending this school is a bargain, and you can rest assured that you will get good professors and classmates. Definitely the perfect place for anyone looking to get an associates' degree or just transfer to a 4-year college; and your money will be well spent towards a great education.

    Tips for prospective students

Bring your lunch! It seems like such a simple tip, but it will save you a lot of money from those fast food trips everyday! Plus it's healthier. Also, read the textbook for your class. Since San Jacinto has implemented the QEP It's in the Book! teachers have been using textbooks in their lectures more to ensure the student that the information being taught is in the book. I would definitely advise to read your textbook because it helps! A super important thing to remember, though obvious, is to go to class. Once you have signed up for a course, you're paying for it, so not going to class is only hurting you; your education and finances! Make sure to sign up for class times you know you will be able to attend; if you're a night owl, don't sign up for an 8:30 history course! Know your limits with time. Most importantly, though, once you start school, don't lose track of what you need to do. Remember due dates and homework!

Great for these types of students

At San Jacinto, I have seen all kinds of students of different ages, ethnicities, religions, interests, and majors! I think this school is suited for just about everyone; even non-English speakers. There's an education track for everyone who attends, and there is always someone to help you with your decision.

    Will learn a lot

I know I will enjoy this school and its system of learning. I know many people who have attended and not one was upset about the classes or professors.

    Will enjoy being here

I should enjoy it! I have been on campus before with other people and heard many good reviews. I expect to have a pleasant experience be it in class or online.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely great on price! I see no point in attending a more expensive higher education school if the money isn't there to spend when attending a community college, especially this one, is so much easier and cheaper, and the credits transfer to other local colleges. Not to mention, I only live about 15-30 minutes away based on traffic. I find it very reasonable in pricing.

Great for these types of students

Wonderful for students who don't want to spend money, don't care who they go to for a degree, and who want in and out real quick.

San Jacinto college is a fantastic school for students who have recently graduated or even adults who are wanting to further there education or start a career. Its a large campus, but the layout is great everywhere you need to go on campus is compact and just a short walk away!

    Tips for prospective students

A few things I wish I would have known prior to attending would be; get to campus early in order to find a parking spot. First thing you should do is memorize your G#. Your G number is how you will be identified during your time at SJC. Last but not least, ALWAYS come to class prepared! Get a back pack or bag and keep everything you could possibly need in it ex. pens, highlighters, extra paper, your flash-drive.

    Dorm Life

    No dorms :(

    Food and Dining

In the student center there is a coffee shop and also they have a A&W burger place where you could grab lunch without leaving campus.

    What to do for fun

Grab your favorite drink from the coffee shop and a good book, find a nice shaded place in the court yard and relax! :)

The experienced professors know what they are talking about. One of my accounting professors is currently a CPA and the other has a PhD in accounting and handles all the finances in her personal lumber business.

    Am enjoying being here

I love San Jacinto Community College. It is close to home and I have been able to keep a lot of old friends as well as make some new ones.

    Bang for the buck

When I graduated high school I applied to several universities. A semester at Texas Tech would have totaled near $20,000! My first semester I took 17 hours at San Jacinto Community College and paid a total of $1300! Bang for the buck is an accurate description.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved! Don't just attend classes. Join clubs and organizations. The people you meet can impact you for the rest of your life. Also the teachers here want to help you, take advantage of that!

Great for these types of students

There is at least 30 different student organizations on campus. This school is great for the students who want to improve their resumes and make themselves competitive for scholarships to four-year universities.

This college offers an eclectic amount of classes to help prepare any student to be very well-rounded in whatever field of study they choose. Personally, I am finding that my psychology course has not only helped me better analyze literature, but also communicate more effectively with others.

    Am enjoying being here

It is close to work and home, and provides me with adequate amounts of college life without completely overwhelming me.

    Bang for the buck

I have been able to get a thorough education for under $1,200 per semester, and I have experienced a rigorous college life on a more manageable level for a freshman in college.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not underestimate San Jac's capacity to provide you with education and socialization. The professors take notice of individual growth, and if you make a good impression, they will recommend you to go on free trips and give you access to some overlooked scholarships. They will also introduce you to other members of their department and of higher departments; the higher the department that recognizes you, the better the recommendation letters you will receive.

Great for these types of students

This college offers classes that can accommodate any schedule and any type of budget. It is also great for high school students who are not really sure of their majors, or who know what they want to major in, but haven't found the right university to acclimatize to what the student wants to study. The classes have the necessary restrictions regarding grading and due dates, but the professors are more inclined to help each student individually. I have found my place here at San Jac's Honors Program as Vice President, and as reporter for Phi Beta Lambda. I am also involved in the Gay/Straight Alliance project, and a member of TSEA; I am currently working on gathering enough hours to become a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Aside from school, I am a part time florist and I volunteer at a nursing home. The flexibility of scheduling a full load of classes has left me with with time for socialization, and for one-on-one help from my professors.

    Will learn a lot

I'm definitely learning a lot, not just in my classes but outside of them as well. San Jac has given me tips and advice about life once I'm actually forced into the real world.

    Will enjoy being here

The campuses are HUGE.The library is cozy and has two floors. The classrooms are always adjusting to students preferred temperature, and the food is wonderful. The teachers and staff are also very helpful and on their game 100%.

    Bang for the buck

My tuition and fees for out-of-district was $969. This price is also while being a full-time student with four classes. The financial aid office also excels in their work-study program. So while your working off your tuition, you still manage to have a stable income.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay on top of your financial aid, classes, studying and don't be afraid to ask questions. Also getting involved in extracurricular activities are a great way to boost your chances of getting into a university if planned.

Great for these types of students

I highly recommend any student who want to either get their basics out of the way before transferring to a university. Also, single mothers like myself have been assisted with childcare in which San Jac is involved in. And also just getting certified in a certain profession, is a great start to a developing future.

    Am learning a lot

I go to San Jacinto College North Campus and I think that the professors there are really good. Most of them are really helpful. The one thing that I like most about the college itself is that the class size is smaller which makes it easier for your professor to get to know you. And personally for me it makes it easier to learn and pay attention in class.

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at San Jac. It really gives me a sense of home. And its also impossible to get lost around campus. This cuts backs from the possiblity of getting to class late. The college also has a lot of great places to relax between classes, such as the courtyard, and the game room, the cafe, and the lounge which are all in the student center.

    Bang for the buck

The reason I chose to attend a community college first instead of going straight to a 4 year university was due to the economic stress that my family is undergoing. It just seemed economically smarter to attend San Jac first, plus its also really close to home.

    Tips for prospective students

A lot of people say negative things about San Jac because it is just a community college. People from my school would call it the 13th grade. But the way I see it you still get the same education that you would get at a 4 year university. You shouldn't listen to the negative opinions of others influence your decision to attend this college.

Great for these types of students

It really is a great school and you have just as many opportunities to express yourself as you would have at a 4 year college. Because of the size of the school you are able to meet new people more easily, especially if you get involved in the many provided organizations. So if you prefer to be in small learning environment and don't have the money to go to a big-time university, then San Jacinto College is great for you.

It is a good Community College, a very good alternative to save some money on college. However, most of the campus is in pretty bad shape, although they are updating a lot of it. The music program is really good though, the faculty is outstanding.

    Tips for prospective students

Figure out where you want to transfer as soon as possible, preferably even before you start at San Jac, so you can start talking to their counselors. Because the counselors at San Jac aren't really helpful and you might end up with a lot of hours you don't need.

San Jac is an excellent choice when it comes time to decide what institution to trust with your higher education goals. Am learning a lot

I feel yes that I am learning a lot from San Jacinto College. I have been in the Surgical Tech program, CNA course and currently in the LVN nursing program. Each time I have completed a class I feel I have truly learned something from my teachers that I can take on to my next class to help me further my education in the medical field. I plan to attend San Jacinto College as well when I complete the LVN program to transition over to RN program. I feel like San Jacinto College has very caring instructors that care about their students and want them to succeed so they take the time to make sure we learn everything we need to know. My grades have been A's and B's for each class I have taken. So I definitely feel I'm learning a lot at this college.

    Am enjoying being here

I am enjoying being at San Jacinto College because it is a very casual and friendly campus. Every time I have needed help with admission, counselors or financial aid everyone is very friendly and very helpful. It never feels nerve racking to get help or information when needed. Other students seem to be very friendly as well and easy to get along with. All of this stuff making it very enjoyable to go to class every day at this college.

    Bang for the buck

Being that San Jacinto College is a community college the price of the classes or programs are fairly reasonable verses a major university. However, any college is still expensive though. Being a single mom not getting much extra help financially, any kind of extra help to be applied to my tuition is always a blessing.

    Tips for prospective students

A big tip that I can give to prospective students is to make sure you stay on top of dates and deadlines. Make sure to write them down on a calendar and not overlook them. This especially important when dealing with financial aid.

Great for these types of students

San Jacinto College is a good College for just about any type of student. It offers a variety of programs and classes to help students achieve their goal degree.
