    Tips for prospective students

Prospective Students should try as much as possible to apply early. And also apply for the Seattle Central foundation scholarships and International Education Program scholarships. And also apply for scholarship outside Seattle Central.

Great for these types of students

Students can be first time college students, international students, returning students and high school students. I wish all prospective students the best.

    Did learn a lot

The teachers at Seattle Central are beyond helpful and truly care about your education. All of the teachers that I had at SCCC could be reached easily for questions and were always willing to help. While I did have some teachers who were not as good as others, even the less-than-fabulous teachers were still helpful. I learned a lot from all of my classes at SCCC

    Did enjoy being here

The SCCC campus is in such a great location it would be hard to give it less than five stars. Also, the school is easy to navigate and the classes are great. The only drawback is that there are less classes offered at SCCC than at some of the surrounding community colleges so you have to be very quick to get the classes that you want or need for your degree.

    Bang for the buck

Seattle Central is a great value school. The classes are up to par with any university and the price is incredibly low. However, textbooks can get really expensive, even for used ones, so it would be best to try to find books online or on Craigslist before you head to the bookstore.

    Tips for prospective students

One major tip I would give students is to try some online classes. The online classes offered at Seattle Central are taught by great teachers and the website is very easy to navigate. Also many of the classes needed to obtain an AA are available online which makes getting an AA easier. If you are planning on transferring to a university after you receive your AA you should try and take some classes that pertain to the degree that you ultimately want. Especially if you want to go to an art school or private institution some of your credits may not transfer so you will want to try and maximize the credits that can be transfered. Also, try taking public transportation instead of driving because parking on Capitol Hill, especially around the school, is hard to find and can get expensive.

Great for these types of students

Seattle Central is great for all kinds of students but especially for those who have jobs or need to save some money on college. Since an AA is easily transfered to most universities you could save a lot of money by obtaining an AA and then graduating from a major university. Also, if you have a job there are a lot of night classes and online classes that can help you get your degree while making a living.

    In three sentences

Seattle Central is a diverse learning instititution. There are many dedicated teachers that work hard to make sure students succeed in their classes. Central provides many student organizations and activities to integrate students.

    Tips for prospective students

I would advise incoming students to schedule classes ahead of time and register immediately, otherwise you may not get the classes you want. It is also vital to attend classes for participation points and class discussions.

    Academic Rigor

Seattle Central has both basic and challenging classes for every skill level. Teacher's require a substantial amount of work for every single student and also provide aid for those who are struggling.

    Dorm Life

I have not lived in the dorms.

    Food and Dining

The cafe is reallly good. They use a local coffee roaster and the culinary program sells baked goods.

    Campus Safety

The safety is lacking. There should definitely be more security at our school.

a great supportive environment for student of all levels and experiences. for returning and non-traditional students, there are plenty of resources and the staff keep you informed.

    Tips for prospective students

the earlier, the better! the earlier you test, the earlier you apply, the earlier you do your fafsa, makes everything a lot easier considering how many students vs staff here. ask around about classes and professors as opposed to leaning on rateyourprofessor or another website.

    Academic Rigor

the rigor varies on teacher and class. i generally find the workload from most classes to be on par with general higher education: 3-5 hours of homework per hour of class. if something is too difficult or you need help, there are plenty of tutors and tutoring centers for any subject to help you out.

    Dorm Life

    there are no dorms.

    Food and Dining

it's located on broadway in capitol hill so there are plenty of places to grab food around the campus, including a few good places right across the street. i haven't tried the school's food.

    Bang for the buck

i feel like the education i'm getting for what i am paying for is really good value. i wish i had understood this a few years ago and had gone back to school then.

Great for these types of students

    non-traditional, returning, new.

    Greek Life

    none

    Campus Safety

it is an urban campus but i've never felt unsafe there even while there for night classes.

i have found all teachers to come across clear and respectful without presumptions of any one student. also most teachers provide an accurate schedule of quizzes, exam, and homework's due dates and a brief summary of the way their grade charts work. all in all the curriculum, teachers, and staff are all doing a wonderful job over at seattle central community college.

    Tips for prospective students

keep to your grades and work or it will show at the end of the semester! also, the do give out homework by sections be careful to stay on top of that don't slack off thinking you have the time to make u for it.

    Academic Rigor

i felt challenged with every new piece of material introduced to us yet i also knew my teacher would well equip me and the rest of the students with the knowledge needed.

    Dorm Life

there is no dorm available on campus but the surrounding area offers wonderful views of downtown seattle and it is a very easy commute.

    Food and Dining

the school is located on broadway ave. which is a very welcoming area to people from various back rounds and it hows completely with the different variety of foods available from the quaint little bar to the free wi fi at the pizza parlor its all there.

    What to do for fun

there are lounges in the area and bill's bar and grill is kitty corner from the school. there is also a full park equipped with play sets, a very large fountain, and enough room and trees that the tight rope walkers practice there. also its only one bus to downtown seattle and a bus runs ever 5 to 10 minutes.

    Campus Safety

as long as the school is open and there are students around there will be security and they are very kind.

you will get out of central what you put into to it. if you are motivated, curious, and determined, you will be able to meet people who are willing to help you with your dreams. if you don't care, drop out so that someone else can use their already strained resources

    Tips for prospective students

double check everything! be early with every deadline. network!!!!!! make friends with the teachers in your major and the smart kids( in every major). stay out of cal anderson park. get a counselor and mentor. and start planning to transfer ( if that's what you want) on day 1.

    Academic Rigor

depends on what you do. some of the specialized programs are insane! if you want to transfer to a highly competitive university then you will be putting in more work than everyone else.

    Dorm Life

no dorms! but many kids live in capitol hill.

    Food and Dining

super good culinary program at the school. plus you can eat cheap in the atrium. there are lots of ethnic and health food near by. also epic local food ( dick's drive-in & molly moon are my fav's )in the neighborhood. what else could you need.

    What to do for fun

hang out in cal anderson (after class not during), school clubs, going downtown ( a fifteen minute walk), shopping and eating in capitol hill, classes & sports at the mac building etc.

    Bang for the buck

great way to save money on four year degree.

    Clubs and Activities

great way to build your resume and meet friends.

    Greek Life

    none.

    Campus Safety

they try to take care of things quickly but use common sense. don't leave valuables out, and don't walk around late at night alone.

The school is nice and the staffs are friendly. For International student, the international student center staffs are so helpful. The classes are great

    Tips for prospective students

For prospective students, they should know about the classes in this college. Also, they need to apply for dorm or apartment as soon as possible, otherwise they won't get the chance to rent, because it's filled up so quick. New students should be really involved in school clubs

    Academic Rigor

The school is not really strict. Some teachers, they are kinda easy to students but they are so helpful when we need their help. Some classes are more serious than the rest

    Dorm Life

Seattle Central CC only has dorm for International Students. The dorm is really nice, it's located across the main campus. It's clean and secure

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria are not so good, but they have some food with reasonable prices. The tables are mostly clean. Some food stands often not open for some reasons.

    What to do for fun

Go to Cal anderson park, which is so close to the main campus. Also, the neighborhood that the campus located on, has so many stores and good restaurants. Students can also go to downtown, it's just 20 to 25 minutes walk, or 10 mins with bus

    Campus Safety

The polices are not always be around campus. The fire fighters are really quick when the alarm were ringing. There is no security checking or anything at the main door

    Am learning a lot

The classes were decent, but rather easy. I am at college to learn, not review what I learned three years ago. The teachers were okay but did not really seem to know what they were doing. The campus is great, lots of things to do between classes.

    Am enjoying being here

With such a wide range of students, from all over, it is more difficult to make friends and have an out of school relationship with them.

    Bang for the buck

I suppose compared to UW the price is pretty good. But I have yet to take a class and feel I got something from it.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be afraid to speak up in class with your opinion.
