Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Seattle Pacific University is a small school, but the educational quality is wonderful. The professors teach every class themselves, and they are all always ready to meet and talk about your education. Furthermore, the professors themselves are actively engaged in teaching the students, and they love us just as much as we love them. The educational programs available are excellent as well, ranging from one of the top pre-med programs in the nation to an astounding Theology school. Personally, as a School of Theology major, I have learned so much about Christian History and Ministerial Teaching that I never knew about. Even better, this knowledge will help me in my own career plans, and isn't just about memorizing facts for the test.
Am enjoying being here Seattle Pacific speaks about fostering a sense of community, and that is something I truly feel here. The residence halls are excellent places to meet new people, and to form lasting friendships. The University Scholars program, which I am a part of, furthers this by placing students in a special program that creates a group bond that exists even outside of classes. Community is perhaps the best word to describe Seattle Pacific, one that includes even the staff and professors, who all love to speak with students on anything ranging from classes to personal life issues. I honestly can't imagine a better school for people who truly are seeking a Christian community.
Bang for the buck I'll admit, this school is not cheap. Of course, most private schools are not, and even with a $10,000 dollar scholarship, it's still hard to pay for school. However, the price is by far worth it, both for the quality education and for the strong community. Someone who is looking only for a good education would no doubt find it not as valuable, but the entire package of Seattle Pacific is totally worth the price. And Financial Services is available to help you find ways to pay for school, as well; they don't just leave you hanging to figure it out yourself.
Tips for prospective students Be ready to examine your core convictions while you are here; while you won't be forced to believe anything, there is a very large emphasis on discovering what you yourself have faith in, and not necessarily what everyone else around you believes. Be open-minded, but don't think you have to radically change what you believe. Be ready to grow.
Great for these types of students Christian students who own their faith, students who want a strong college community, students who want lots of opportunities to get involved, students seeking a good education both inside and outside of the classroom.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Academics at SPU are fantastic. You will never be taught by a TA, and our profs love what they're teaching. You will also never be in a class (even a gen ed class!) with more than 100 students; most classes have 20-40 students. I'm really being challenged in my concepts of faith, science, politics, and how world change occurs. The University Scholars program, which accepts 40 students a year, is a great books program that replaces your core classes and incorporates all sorts of disciplines taught by the best profs at the university. I'm a part of it and it is definitely worth the extra essay when you apply.
Am enjoying being here SPU is a school with a lot going on. There are tons of student clubs with events to attend; the dorms put on root beer keggers and dance parties; student council organizes awesome events like talent show, open mic, concerts, group, 3-on-3 basketball tournaments for charity. There is so much to do! And dorm life is great. The lifestyle doesn't involve a lot of alcohol or drugs. It's low-pressure and still tons of fun.
Bang for the buck SPU is pretty expensive, but don't let it throw you off. There are a lot of scholarships that can really lower costs for you. I got an academic scholarship and a leadership scholarship, as well as some grants, and my roommate got a theatre and music scholarship that lowered costs to the same as a state school. The atmosphere and academics are worth it!
Tips for prospective students Apply for as many scholarships as you can--it will pay off. Also make sure you apply for University Scholars if you are any good at writing, or if you're just interested in getting better at writing. You'll do a lot of essays but it's worth it to have all the school's best professors inviting you to their office whenever you want help! Apply for housing as soon as possible, and try to get into Ashton or Hill (they are commonly known as the friendliest and best halls). And make sure to schedule an entrance interview; it's not required, but it really helps the admissions office get to know you and helps you get to know the school.
Great for these types of students SPU has one of the most successful nursing programs in the nation, so if you're thinking about nursing this is a great school. We also have a popular business school and a fantastic English program. (English students will have great internship opportunities at SPU!) If you don't mind rain, it's a great place for you; if you like getting involved in community service and charity, there are tons of opportunities for that at SPU as well. And if you like books or music, Seattle has a great artsy scene that you'll really enjoy.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classroom setting is personable, extremely informative, and fosters individual responsibility and global and educational awareness.
Am enjoying being here I moved from Tennessee to attend college here, and I could not have made a better choice. The housing is accommodating, classes are interesting and diverse, Professors are prepared and know their students by first names, the food is delectable, and the city of Seattle surrounds the campus with its progressiveness.
Bang for the buck Seattle Pacific University is a private college, and even with scholarships and financial assistance I am still paying a fairly significant sum, and hold a part-time job to offset this. However, it is worth it for the genuine informative education and loving community I am blessed to partake in everyday.
Tips for prospective students Throughout the application process find ways to insert personal insights about you. Admissions staff read hundreds and hundreds of applications. Find a way to make yours stand out; this will go a longer way than you could ever imagine. Upon arrival, don't overload yourself immediately and cause unwanted stress and negative circumstances for yourself later. Ease yourself into the community around you; it is very welcoming and open with a spot for everyone.
Great for these types of students Seattle Pacific University is accommodating to every type of student, the real test is if the students allow themselves to be a part of Seattle Pacific University community. Art programs, athletics, medical, international, and all other focuses of classrooms and extracurriculars are encompassed withing Seattle Pacific University, all students must do is decide which ones to partake and excel in.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have learned a lot about myself and who I am as a Christian. When you live on campus in the dorms, you are given the opportunity to meet fellow Christians that can help you learn where you are in your walk with God, and how you can get back on track with your relationship with Him.
As far as classes go, I am taking upper division courses specific for my major, so I'm not sure how the general classes are. However, I have heard great things about amazing professors that teach good, valuable information. With the courses I am taking for my education degree, all of my classes are integrated together, where information from one class is directly applied to the next. They all link together to where my knowledge in each area is increasing relationally, instead of focusing on one subject and forgetting everything I've ever learned about any other class.Am enjoying being here I love the location of being a good walk away from downtown Seattle, but far enough away from the city that your studies aren't being interrupted by constant sirens or car alarms. We also have a great cafeteria that provides multiple options at every meal. It is also very well known for its amazing cookies! The people here are varied so much that it keeps everything interesting. Even though this is a Christian university, having a Christian faith is not mandatory for attending the school. If you are not a Christian, you will still find a place to fit in with our community of students.
Bang for the buck In my specific courses, I have learned more about my major and am getting plenty of attention by advisers making sure that I am following my track for graduation with my desired degree and certification. All of the people are so helpful in getting you set up with a plan for your entire stay at SPU, and making sure you are able to follow through with it. Although this school does cost a very pretty penny, it is the experience, education, and educators that make the entire thing worth it.
Tips for prospective students One major tip for prospective students is that if you decide to come to SPU, get with your adviser early to schedule your desired degree. When I first came, I was able to work with my adviser to plan out all three years in advance for me to graduate with my degree. This will make life a lot easier for when class registration rolls around and everybody starts worrying about finding what classes they need to take. You will already have it all right there in front of you, with a couple of options for if any of your classes have already been filled. Which leads me to another tip... If you are in a state that allows Running Start, or any other program to get college credit while still in high school, do it! It makes things so much more simple, and it also helps balance out the cost of the university when you are able to cut down a year or two for having those classes already taken.
Great for these types of students In my opinion, Seattle Pacific University is perfect for any type of student. Whether you are a Christian or not, you will be accepted. Whether you leave high school with college credit or not, the faculty will work with you to figure out what major you want, or how to plan classes to fulfill that degree. Whether you are an extremely social person or not, each of the four dorms has a different personality that will fit you perfectly.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Not only am I learning a lot, but I've found I'm enjoying learning more than ever! The classes here are very interesting especially the university core classes.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere is very family-like and friendly. There's lots to do around the school since we're practically in downtown seattle. I love being here!
Bang for the buck It is very expensive but I believe it's very high quality education. I have loved all of my professors, and they have all been masters of their craft.
Tips for prospective students Be ready for diversity!
Great for these types of students If you're looking for a Christian community, this is the school for you. They also have a good music technology program.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The class sizes are small. The professors are actively engaged in their students life. You can tell they care about their subject and their students. All my professors have been willing to put in extra hours to make sure I fully understand the material. There are a variety of classes and majors to choose from.
Am enjoying being here The community is exceptional. I have never felt so accepted. After only a few months, I can tell I have made some life long friends. Dorm life is fun! The school makes an effort to keep students involved in campus activities. There is always something to do. And if you can't find something that interests you on campus, SPU is located in the heart of Seattle!
Bang for the buck Its a fairly expensive school, but they award very good scholarships. Even though I am paying a little bit more for this school than I would for a state school, the experience is priceless. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Tips for prospective students The Christian aspect is a huge part of SPU. You won't be forced to believe anything, but you will be encouraged to discover what you believe. Be ready to meet students who are very active in their faith.
Take part in as many campus activities as possible. They are there for a reason! These will help you get engaged and make lifelong friends. This will make for a better experience all together. Live on campus and leave your dorm door open.Great for these types of students This university is especially great for students seeking an education firmly rooted in faith.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers here are great for the most part but like every school there are the good and the bad teachers. The courses here will challenge you if you allow yourself to be chanllenged.
Am enjoying being here The community here, no matter how corny it sounds, is amazing! I love the people here and I have already made life long friends here! I have never had so many close friendships before in my life. If you want to be involved you can get involved! I love being here so much!
Bang for the buck The school is a bit pricey, I have to say, but it is worth it in my opinion because of the quality of life you get to lead here. This school, even if you cannot afford it, will help you make it possible. They want you to be able to come here. Unlike most schools, they offer you scholarships first and then they hand you the loans.
Tips for prospective students If you are interested, start researching the school earlier because the faster you know if you want to go the earlier you can apply. Also the earlier you apply the more financial aid you receive and the more priority you are given.
Great for these types of students This school is great for those who want to have fun and not the kind of fun where you just go out and party all night and get drunk at. This school will challenge your faith if you let it and it's perfect for if you want to get involved and learn a lot as well.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are amazing and will help you with whatever you need. My English professor had us go on a class field trip to see a movie that had to do with what we were learning about. Another one of my professors spent 2.5 hours with me and a few others going over information for the quiz the next day, staying well past her office hours. SPU is challenging but you really enhance your learning and get so much out of the experience.
Am enjoying being here The halls have so many great traditions and people are so friendly. I meet new people everyday! Dorm life is amazing and all about what you make it. The professors are great, the people are great, and the city is less than 2 miles away. There is so much to do you can never get bored!
Bang for the buck I have friends at big schools and they have 500 people in their classes. SPU has way less than that, with the biggest classes being about 100. My classes are generally about 20-30 people. Being at a private school is definitely worth it, with small classes, great food, fun people, and amazing professors!
Tips for prospective students The friends you make at the beginning of the year are not necessarily the people you will be friends with later. Make the most of every situation and don't be afraid to be friendly and outgoing. College is what you make out of it! Make sure you are just able to to balance your time, you'll regret it later if you don't. By the way, sharing a bathroom with 35 other people is not nearly as bad as one may expect, I promise!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am an English major and Philosophy minor, and I am currently enrolled in an English literature history, literature analysis, and logic class. I have already learned a lot in the first three weeks. There is a great wealth of knowledge to tap into, and the professors are very personable. I feel that by the time I graduate, I will be plenty prepared with the knowledge I gained from my English major.
Am enjoying being here I love Seattle. I am thoroughly convinced that the Northwest is the best part of America. SPU is located in Queen Anne, which is a beautiful neighborhood that borders Fremont and Ballard. This is great for audiophiles like myself, because of the sheer number of record stores a store distance away. The campus is very pretty, especially in fall, as it is now, and it provides a great environment to live in. The people are super nice as well, and socialites will have plenty of friends to be made here.
Bang for the buck SPU is certainly not a cheap school, but I am feeling more confident that in the end it will have been worth the price. Food and housing are both great (I live in Emerson Hall). The education is very extensive and you learn a lot. You definitely get what you pay for, which is a lot.
Tips for prospective students It's a great experience so far. Just don't forget to study!
Great for these types of students There is certainly a big music scene is Seattle, and it is also present at SPU. If you're into music, art, or writing, this is definitely a great place for it. I've also heard good thing about the business program, but I am not very knowledgeable about it.

Am enjoying being here Oh goodness... life in Seattle is great, and the community here on campus makes it even better!
Bang for the buck SPU is certainly expensive, but the education and life experiences you get are DEFINITELY worth it. Plus, they have a lot of scholarship opportunities and such to offset the cost.
Tips for prospective students Get to know what you love to do, and do it! I have spent my freshman year not playing my flute in band, because I thought I wasn't good enough to do so, but I missed it terribly. Live your life while you're here! And if you don't think you're good enough at something to join others in doing it, work at it. That's the reason I'm able to be in band next year. :).
Great for these types of students All kinds, as long as you can deal with cloudy, slightly cool weather a good majority of the time. Winter Quarter is almost always that way. But Spring Quarter is GORGEOUS, and it totally makes up for the gloomy-ness of the winter.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Seattle Pacific University is an amazing school where you will be pushed and challenged academically, make great friends, and learn to engage the world around you. It is located in beautiful Seattle, just minutes from downtown, where the possibilities for fun and recreation are endless. I have never regretted the decision to apply to SPU!
Tips for prospective students Visit campus and talk to your professors! They are full of information and will care for you as an individual, not one of the many.
Academic Rigor SPU is a university that will challenge you to think differently and expand your horizons. Classes are challenging, but your professors care about your success and work alongside their students.
Dorm Life I've been in a lot of college dorms and can say with confidence that SPU has some of the nicest dorms around.
Food and Dining You will get sick of the food at any university you go to. In light of this, SPU's food is good, but you will get tired of it. The nice thing is that you are campus is surrounded by food because we are in the city. Campus is walking distance from great burgers and yummy thai food. And of course, late night pizza delivery ;)
What to do for fun There is so much to do for fun! Hike through discovery park, shop at some great vintage and record stores in Fremont(a 15 minute walk from campus), become a coffee connoisseur at the dozens of coffee shops around, hit up Q-Cafe(or any of the other great cheap venues) for great live music any day of the week, go watch some great slam poetry, visit a museum, kayak in the canal(which runs through campus). The possibilities are endless!
Bang for the buck SPU is a great school, which costs a lot, but it really is worth it. In additional, financial services works with you and they are actually really nice!
Great for these types of students Absolutely one of the best theology undergrad programs around. Go here if you love theology!
Campus Safety They are always driving around, but it's an urban context, so use common sense. Don't walk through downtown alone at night.

What to do for fun There are many outdoor activities to do in the fall and spring time in Seattle. There are many gorgeous places to visit with a view and many places to shop.
Bang for the buck At this private university, you are treated with a helpful teacher to student ratio.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Each dorm has a dance either on a boat or in the Space Needle.
Great for these types of students For students who enjoy a smaller student body with more attention from professors and who seek to find a deeper connection with themselves and God.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Seattle Pacific University has been life-changing for me. There is a very evident commitment to fostering a grace-filled community, a faculty that genuinely cares and takes the time to know students personally whether it's over a cup of coffee or at a movie night, and the campus is an aesthetic pleasure nestled in a premium location between Queen Anne Hill and Fremont. The amazing combination of community and academics makes SPU more than just a great school, it is a place that anyone would be glad to call their home!
Tips for prospective students Join us for a preview event! You'll get a taste of the fun-filled residence hall experience, as well as a taste of our fantastic cafeteria food!
Don't let the price tag of this school deceive you - there are more than enough financial aid options to make it as affordable as any public school.
Get to know your professors! They are more than willing to sit and talk over a cup of coffee or tea and will be delighted to get to know their students more personally.Academic Rigor Academics are never more than students can handle, although the professors will definitely challenge you. Don't be caught off-guard by the wonderful social life - do your work and you won't have any issues. Plus, you'll receive a fantastic education.
Dorm Life If you are looking for a loving, nurturing community that will build you up, Seattle Pacific residence halls are the place to be! There's never a dull moment between the raids, hall traditions, and abundant social opportunities. You will be living in a community of friends that last a lifetime.
Food and Dining The cafeteria - Gwinn Commons - always has great dishes that you don't easily get tired of, and it's a friendly time to share a meal and get to know others. There's also other options including Subway, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Grill 155, and Medley salads. There are also two Starbucks, but if none of these options sound appealing, there are myriad dining opportunities off-campus all over Seattle that cater to college students on a budget. If you're feeling brave, take some friends from your dorm to cheer you on as you attempt to finish a famous 12-egg omelet from Beth's Cafe! The dining options are endless!
What to do for fun Seattle Pacific University is in a prime location for fun. Just on the north side of Queen Anne Hill, and across a canal from Fremont and Ballard means that fun is always within reach. King County Metro can get you anywhere in the Emerald City within minutes. SPU provides temporary bus passes for students, too, so you don't have to go broke exploring the amazing city of Seattle. The parks are fantastic for hanging out or studying, there are plenty of public beaches, and there are enough businesses and other attractions to keep even the most adventurous souls content for a lifetime!
Bang for the buck Seattle Pacific University is consistently ranked among the Best in the West in terms of value. The price tag may seem daunting at first look, but believe me when I say there are plenty of financial aid options available to keep the financial burden as low as possible. The education you will receive here is definitely worth every penny!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every residence hall has their own tradition which students are invited to participate in. They are all fun, bonding experiences that usually end at a local business eating tasty food in the middle of the night! A place of pure magic on campus is in the middle of Martin Square. Stand directly in the middle and clap your hands to hear what happens!
Great for these types of students Seattle Pacific University is associated with the First Free Methodists. While it is an incredibly open and non-discriminatory school, students coming from a Christian background, or students wanting to learn more about Christianity will find that SPU is a great environment for discovering or growing in the Christian faith. It is fairly liberal in terms of Christian schools, but fairly conservative when compared to most public universities. Overall, It's a very moderate balance that students from a wide variety of backgrounds will enjoy.
Clubs and Activities There are a great number of clubs for all student interests. If a club doesn't exist, it is very easy to create your own!
Greek Life There is no Greek system at SPU.
Campus Safety Safety and Security will take care of you! SPU has a high standard for safety of students that is evident in the strikingly low amount of crime. Besides Safety and Security, Student Health Services takes great care of students feeling under the weather.

Dorm Life great sense of community, however don't plan on having your girlfriend spend the night
Food and Dining Gwinn has great food choices for almost any diet.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Although I am not attending Seattle Pacific, I think it is a wonderful school, and I want to encourage anyone who is thinking about attending to seriously consider it. Both the staff and student body are wonderfully caring, extremely intelligent and yet very down-to-earth. It is a great community and it was a very hard choice not to attend.
Tips for prospective students SPU is costly, so try and apply for any scholarships you can. And definitely visit, and try and stay in the dorms when you do.
Academic Rigor The nursing program (which is what I looked into) seems great, though time-extensive. They have a program called SPU Scholars which replaces your gen-eds if you get into it. In SPU Scholars, you read things like Plato and Aristotle, and they have two teachers from different areas teach the class, so you get a bit of a different prospective.
Dorm Life I stayed in Emerson, which is the quietest dorm and a pod-style, meaning there are four dorms with a common living room area. The bathrooms were great (as weird of an observation as that is), and each pod had 2, which is a lot nicer than only one or two to a floor. The girls seemed like best friends, and it was really cool to get to know all of them while I was there.
Food and Dining There is a lot of variety at SPU's dining hall, and the food is very good. They have options for people who are lactose intolerant, vegetarian and even allergic to gluten. However, on the weekends, Gwinn dining hall has a lot less variety. Luckily, there are places you can walk to within minutes.
What to do for fun There is so much! SPU is in the Queen Anne district of Seattle, which is one of the safest districts, and you can walk to so many different stores and shops. We walked to a store that only sold cupcakes! It was adorable, and so good.
There is a lot to do around campus too; zombie-versus-human nerf wars, music recitals (and there are pianos in pretty much every dorm, which means music can be heard very often), plays, dorm projects, etc...Bang for the buck SPU is pretty pricey, but they still managed to bring my tuition down a lot. My advice is to apply for scholarships early, and do as many as you can! Still, affordability is one of the biggest reasons SPU didn't make the cut. It is pretty expensive, but it is also a great school, and if it's the one for you then it's definitely worth it.
Great for these types of students Although you don't have to be Christian to attend SPU, it is definitely an integral part of the environment. So, I would say Christians who want to go to an intellectual school surrounded by great (if slightly eccentric... in a good way!) people, and who want to challenge themselves academically and see all Seattle has to offer!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences SPU is a very welcoming and embracing community. Professors are always accommodating and will help you out in any way they can. The campus is in an absolutely beautiful location which will have you wishing you could live there forever.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus! SPU offers events for prospective students on some fridays (check the website for exact dates) where you are able to tour the school, speak with students and profs, and explore the SPU culture. I would also advise getting in touch with a prof or two from the major you are interested in. They would love to sit down with you and discuss academia and opportunities you will be presented with.
Academic Rigor I won't sugar-coat it, the school work at SPU is tough. As a transfer student and biology major, I can attest to the fact that the courses are more rigorous than at other schools, however it's not blind knowledge. The professors are invested in their subject and want to make it fun for you to learn. There are always opportunities outside of class for extra help, and if you ask for help right when you need it, you'll have no problem getting good grades. I find that I'm much more confident in my knowledge now that I am held to a higher standard, and that's a terrific feeling.
Food and Dining On campus, your general options for dining are Subway, Starbucks, Bagels, or Gwinn Commons (our cafeteria). Gwinn is where you'll eat most of your major meals. It is buffet-style dining and there are always numerous options in food. There is always a salad bar, various cereals, pizza, and desert bar offered, as well as other hot foods which vary day to day. You won't ever go hungry with Gwinn around. There is also a Subway on campus in the C-store (a convenience store of sorts), two Starbucks locations, and Einstein Bagels in the SUB (Student Union Building).
What to do for fun It's Seattle! What would you LIKE to do? You'll find it here. SPU is really in the PERFECT location because it's just a 5 minute drive from the heart of downtown, but you're living in Queen Anne which is one of the safest, most beautiful neighborhoods in Seattle. SPU offers bus passes for a very small and reasonable fee so you're always free to roam the city. Seattle Center and the Space Needle are just over the hill, Fremont and all it's quirky festivities are right across the bridge, and if you're looking for a place to go for a walk, the canal is literally about 50 yards from campus. There's really more to do around SPU than you can write in a little text box.
Campus Safety SPU is a very safe campus. It's in a nice, clean, urban neighborhood and there are always multiple campus security officers on duty. Emergency phones are present around campus, and if you ever have a late study night and don't feel comfortable walking back to your dorm, use the emergency phone and the safety and security officers will be happy to give you a ride back. I've never felt unsafe at SPU.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The setting at this school has allowed me to learn a lot. I have learned through the setting that the school makes. the kind of students SPU attracts and the thought provoking professors make this school a prime place to learn more about philosophy, theology, and a cornucopia of other topics. The one thing that I most enjoy about it though, is that it doesn't limit the broadness of each field. SPU allows and encourages the different perspectives of each field to affect each other.
Am enjoying being here I have experienced living in a building of more than 500 students for two years. Living in the residence halls is a requirement for the first two years of attendance. This experience offers a wide range of experiences from new cultures, to new world views, to new religious backgrounds. I have learned a lot about others through this experience, and I have had a ton of fun doing it.
Bang for the buck I am generally a stingy person, but when it comes to education you can't put a price on it. I chose this school mostly because the financial aid package I got through FAFSA was significant enough that I could afford it. I think that this will be the case for most anyone who applies. The only thing is that the loans will catch up to me in the future, but they will be manageable.
Tips for prospective students Choose Hill Hall if you live in the dorms. It is my favorite.
Great for these types of students This school is great for people who want to have an expanded view of education, people, and God. This school will break down many boxes you may have put yourself in, others in, or God in.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are challenging and the science program is excellent. The professors are great about helping students when they need anything, and are open to answering questions.
Am enjoying being here I've made a lot of wonderful friends here, but I know of two people who had to leave after their first quarter because scholarships and work study did not pan out as promised, which is making it tough. the housing regulations can get a bit irritating at times, and can limit the ability to study and hang out with friends. Even so, the people are really great.
Bang for the buck This school is really, really expensive, and their work study program is terrible. I've been trying to find a job to help cover costs and, despite being promised work study, can't find anything, on campus or not.
Tips for prospective students Definitely apply for the honors program, and apply for as many outside scholarships as you can.
Great for these types of students The school says it accepts non-Christian students and it does, but it can be really uncomfortable if you aren't Christian. The professors don't seem to mind, but the students can be kind of exclusive at times, and there's an expectation and kind of assumption that everyone is Christian.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Seattle Pacific allows students to decide how much they wish to be challenged. I am in the UScholars Honors program and finding the most difficult courses. I personally have grown and learned so much in typical liberal arts fashion. ALL classes are taught by the professors, no TA teaching. Average classes are 20 to 30 and the largest classes here are barely over 200 students. You learn in a very intimate setting.
Am enjoying being here I love SPU and the community. SPU love love loves community! There is something for everyone. I will forewarn that is a very Christian-centered environment. That being said, there is no pressure to follow that faith, but you should be comfortable with the majority of the student body being of Christian faith.
Bang for the buck SPU is so expensive! I believe it is worth it. It is also generous with financial aid in my experience. Acquire outside scholarships and you will be in great condition.
Tips for prospective students Get scholarships! Come and visit. It is a unique school and I think visiting will be the only way to see if it is the right institution for you.
Great for these types of students Desire a small school in a big city. (I think it is the perfect balance) Okay with religion (the Christian faith) being a prominent idea in the classroom!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Most of the classes are centered around the Christian faith. This is not something I find pertinent to my education, and was somewhat disappointed to find that I could not take even a science or art class without it.
Am enjoying being here The school is extremely expensive, and I must work to scrape by. Granted, I am not living on campus so I may be missing out on some of the fun.
Bang for the buck It is extremely expensive, and I believe I could get the same or better education else where. I do plan on tranfering to a school that is more cost effective.
Tips for prospective students Do not attend this school if you are looking for a cost effective, or if you would like your faith, or the faith of others separate from your education.
Great for these types of students SPU is great for Christian students, who would like to seek shelter from normal college experiences in a wholesome environment.

Am enjoying being here Everyone on my floor (Hill) is so nice. The whole school has a sense of community and family. I love it here!
Bang for the buck Apply for scholarships and contact financial services if you have any questions.
Tips for prospective students Visit campus if you are interested in a school. It really helped me make my decision. Also, if you have questions ask current students or your academic advisor. they are more than willing to help.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Seattle Pacific is a small school, but not too small. The class sizes are perfect for a learning environment because it allows you to build a relationship with not only the professor but also with your fellow classmates. I feel comfortable to speak up in a class and ask questions. The professors are very understanding and will even meet with you after class to get coffee and talk about something you did not fully understand, or to just chat about life. The curriculum challenges you and makes you gain stronger study habits, but also allows you to gain more knowledge in the areas you are studying in.
Am enjoying being here I love going to SPU. My first year was amazing and made so many awesome friendships. Since it is a smaller school, it is very easy to get involved in clubs, sports or find friends. I never thought that I would enjoy going to college this much. Over the summer, I have been counting down the days until I get to go back. Seattle is such a great place to go to school because you are located so close to downtown, where you can explore and find neat shops. But there is also the outdoors where you can hike, camp and go biking. I would never want to go anywhere else for school.
Bang for the buck Seattle Pacific is very pricey. This would be the only downfall for going to this school. Since it is extremely expensive, I have to work throughout the school year and summer and I am still going to have a lot to pay off after i graduate. However, I think that by paying more than I would at a public state school, I am paying for the experience. I would never be able to get the sort of attention I get inside the classroom if I attended a large university. Also the kind of friendships I have made, would have been difficult to find at a huge school.
Tips for prospective students I would advise you, if you are questioning staying in state or going out of state, to go out of state. I was very nervous when I made the decision but I am so happy that I did! It is so fun to be able to have the chance to live in a different state for a part of your life. Also, it is always better to go away and then if you do not like it come back to your home state. If you never go out, then you will never know what it is like.
Great for these types of students Seattle Pacific is a great school for really anyone. It is very diverse and is accepting of others. Whether you are Christian or not, you will learn a lot about different religions and cultures. If you are looking for a smaller school, but not too small where everyone knows everyone and everything about each other's lives, than SPU is a great choice. It is just big enough where you can still meet new people throughout the year, but also small enough to get involved and feel included. SPU has one of the best nursing programs and also a fairly large business school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Nine months is honestly a short amount of time. Throughout the past nine months of my life, I have learned more than I ever have scholastically, socially, and spiritually. Seattle Pacific University provided me with a whirlwind of experiences that allowed this growth in me. I am looking forward to learning more in the fall!
Am enjoying being here When any first-time college student arrives to their dorm room or college class for the first time, it is, without a doubt, a bittersweet experience. Seattle Pacific University does an amazing job of immediately making campus home to its students! The hardest part about college quickly becomes knowing that, at the end of the last quarter, you have to leave.
Bang for the buck Every single detail of the residence life, scholastic curriculum, campus events and traditions, and spiritual activities are thoroughly planned out and adapted to the environment and opinions of the students themselves. This is a place in which your money will be well spent.
Tips for prospective students The best way to find out if any university is the perfect for you is to engage in it's culture! Stay overnight. Attend chapel services or sporting events. Get involved so that you can decide whether or not you can imagine yourself committed to being a part of this awesome community!
Great for these types of students This is university that is genuinely committed to the idea of building a community of individuals rather than a disconnected group of competitors. If you are looking for a place to make life-long friendships with a diverse group of students from various backgrounds, this is the school for you!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot being a private school the there aren't really many seminar style classes. Most classes are probably around 30-40 people, depending on the class. The intro level classes are going to be a bit more crowded but other classes are significantly smaller.
Am enjoying being here Great since of atmosphere, a beautiful campus with pretty great placement not too far from the U district and right by the Fremont bridge. Further despite being a catholic college, they don't really beat u over the head with religion. As a non believer myself i found that I am never really feeling out cast or offended by other students.
Bang for the buck Once again this is a private school so it is going to be expensive, but college is expensive and there are plenty of great opportunities to get grants and what not.
Tips for prospective students more then likely don't bother with the unlimited meal plan, unless you are going to be eating three meals a day, every day at the cafeteria I would suggest going with the 14 block a week meal plan.
Great for these types of students I would strongly recommend this college for students interested in faith, whether it be seeking religion, already strongly religious, or simple curious this is a great school which will provide plenty of support.
