    Will learn a lot

Southeastern provides students with the best technology, faculty, and organisations to ensure that students have every opportunity to achieve the highest level of education possible.

    Will enjoy being here

The students and faculty are full of hospitality. You feel right at home from the moment you arrive on campus, and every student has the chance to establish a student organization as long as you have 10 or more other students which ensures you to make more friends and gives you that sense of freedom you desire.

    Bang for the buck

Southeastern is worth every penny you out into it. Plus all of the money goes to new dorms, classrooms, and the union. Plus we as students have a vote on what the money is spent on for each of the three. There is a campus wide vote for the students to decide what classes we need, what new restaurant we should have, or how to remodel the dorms.

    Tips for prospective students

There is only one thing say to new students. When you come to Southeastern you should remember to just have a good time because you are home from the moment you step on campus.

Great for these types of students

Southeastern is great for all students. From my experience i have not seen any form of discrimination or hostility targeted towards any one or any kind of difference, and this school offer a variety of courses to accommodate for every academic area of interest.

Although Southeastern Louisiana University has grown drastically in numbers every year, it is still able to maintain the small-school feel. All of the teachers that I have encountered care about their students so much and know them by name! If you appreciate one-on-one assistance from your professor as well as affordable education, Southeastern is the place for you!

    Tips for prospective students

For those who are considering enrolling at Southeastern Louisiana University, I would highly recommend this university. If you are planning on living on campus, I would recommend that you participate in a club/organization on campus. Also, take advantage of the free sporting events, which include every game/meet of every sport, and the free fitness center.

    Academic Rigor

The workload at Southeastern is not overwhelming but very educational. It requires effort, but it's not impossibly unbearable.

    Dorm Life

Southeastern is known for having the nicest and largest dorms in Louisiana. There is always something to do on campus and there is a friendly atmosphere in the dorms.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria has an all-you-can-eat selection of the most delicious food and dessert! Like I stated earlier, it's important to take advantage of the fitness facility because the food may cause you to gain the freshman fifteen.

    What to do for fun

Sporting events are offered free to Souteastern students and are always exciting. I am also a fan of Sotheastern's Baptist Collegiate Ministry, which is open every day of the week to hang out in with friends.

    Bang for the buck

Southeastern has the cheapest tuition of all the universities in Louisiana and offers accredited majors.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a large tree on campus called the Friendship Tree. It is said that if you kiss your significant other under this tree you will end up marrying this person.

Great for these types of students

All students do well at Southeastern.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs/organizations that there is something for everyone!

    Greek Life

There is a large range of fraternities and sororities for all different religious views and cultures. There are a lot of events that the fraternities and sororities participate in together throughout the year.

However, they want you to succeed and many are willing to help you outside of class.

Southeastern has a very good selection of places to eat on campus including the cafeteria and a variety fast food restaurants.

    What to do for fun

Southeastern frequently has on campus activities for students. Plus, there are many shopping areas and restaurants close to Southeastern in Hammond. And Southeastern is only about an hour away from Baton Rouge and New Orleans if you want to explore a bigger city on the weekend.

The professors are amazing; they truly want to help the students learn and they are experts on the material they teach. The school's offices are slow. People on campus are very friendly.

    Tips for prospective students

The school's offices are slow and will not help you out; if you need something done you must be persistent and stay on top of it yourself. There are many amenities on campus that are free such as the gym, prints in the computer labs, counselors, cub cash, etc; take advantage of them because they can really be useful and you secretly pay for them in your tuition. Don't be hesitant about eating in the cafeteria, the food is great and if you get a meal plan it's so much cheaper than any other lunch.

    Academic Rigor

The teaching staff is amazing as well as the curriculum.

    Dorm Life

The dorms often have a waiting list and they aren't really worth the amount you pay for them, as it costs just as much to have a two-bedroom apartment. The walls are paper-thin so your neighbors can hear everything that goes on in your room. Also, often times, even if you request a roommate you will not be with him or her and instead will have a random roommate. It is nice to be so close to campus however, there is nothing open on campus between Friday and Sunday so if you don't have a fridge you have to rely on eating out.

    Food and Dining

The food is great during the week. There are many options on campus ranging from fried, unhealthy foods to vegan and sushi. The cafeteria cooks amazing food with many options. Unfortunately, all restaurants on campus close pretty early.

    What to do for fun

There are many ways to get involved in Southeastern. There is always a sporting event going on and although the football team isn't the best it is still a lot of fun to go to the games. Greek life is amazing and so much fun (if you can swing the high cost). There is a club for almost everything. Also, there is usually some kind of cool get together or project going on around campus. For example, on Thursdays the union is crawling with things to do.

    Bang for the buck

If your grades are top notch the university will hand you a free ride and extra money for graduating in four years. If you have just one difficult class, they will write you off and leave you to fend for yourself.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

If a couple kisses under Friendship Oak they are destined to be married.

    Campus Safety

There are police alarms located all over campus; if you press the blue button they are immediately on their way.

southeastern has devoted a spectacular level of effort to encompassing the needs of each student. the curricula used throughout the numerous degree programs are indeed challenging, but admittance is not as difficult; practically everybody gets a chance. the university has efficiently allocated resources into appropriate places, and they continue to enhance the college experience each day.

    Tips for prospective students

making a 3.0 minimum with ease:
arrive to class on time every day. ensure you take detailed notes, and review them in your free time between classes. that's it.

    Academic Rigor

you can definitely achieve a 4.0 without completely sacrificing all of your free time.

    Dorm Life

there are many different dorm buildings to choose from, as well as many opportunities to live alone or with a roommate. the dorm buildings are very close to the primary educational facilities on campus, allowing for a stress-free stroll to and from class. there are some important rules governing dorm life. following these rules is absolutely essential as the consequences for disobedience strongly outweigh the benefits.

    Food and Dining

a large cafeteria featuring all-you-care-to-eat dining is located in the same complex as a chic-fil-a and a quizno's. this complex is a very short walk from virtually every location on campus. this complex neighbors the student union across the street. the union features a large selection of familiar corporate eateries. taste and variety are never an issue at southeastern.

    What to do for fun

southeastern is dedicated to getting students involved with each other. aside from meeting new people in and outside of class, there is always something new to do. if i don't see a physical flyer posted somewhere on campus, i will definitely receive an e-mail about an event, just about every day. southeastern continuously encourages it's students and residents to come out and have fun at all campus activities, to get involved in organizations/clubs, and to network with those in similar fields.

    Bang for the buck

southeastern is an accredited university with over 90 degree programs. the largest teacher-student ratio is less than 1 : 100. the ratio reaches it's maximum mainly in entry level courses that are required for all students. selu offers numerous scholarships to qualifying students, while tuition/fees are relatively reasonable. nearby universities (such as lsu) with the same level of accreditation offer a staggeringly higher teacher-student ratio, approaching levels of 1 : 1000, which severely limits the chances of receiving one-on-one attention from one's course instructor. selu offers multiple scholarships for every one that can definitely be attained by the average student, whereas lsu offers scholarships mainly only to the highest-ranking students.

essentially, southeastern offers more opportunities, less rigorous course work, and a smaller cost of attendance than all neighboring universities with equivalent levels of accreditation. southeastern defines the phrase bang for the buck.

Great for these types of students

southeastern is great for any personality and/or learning style. there are many other students walking the school that do not interfere in any way with each other, making the school perfect in range from the socially awkward, to the social butterfly.
as long as one takes classwork and assignments seriously, success is achievable.

    Clubs and Activities

there is a club and activity for anything any one could possible be interested in. should one find something of interest excluded from this list, it is not difficult for one to start their own club/organization.

    Greek Life

greek organizations are loads of fun are quite the experience. i would advise every one to seriously look in to any of the greek organizations.

    Campus Safety

i am almost annoyed with how safe this place is. southeastern's own police force responds to calls made from any of the countless emergency boxes, found scattered throughout pedestrian and facilitated areas of campus.
