    Am learning a lot

I am learning a lot, at this school, its pretty cool.

    Am enjoying being here

So far i am enjoying being here, i am not a the actuall campus but being at one of the centers is a boon for me, because its closer to my home and job.

    Bang for the buck

CCBC is very affordable, and can help you save some of your money rather than being in debt, and they also have great payment plans.

    Tips for prospective students

This school is defintily where you want to be; if you want to save money, transfer to a four year college, and if your not sure of what you want to do in life.

Great for these types of students

Coming from Overlea high school, with an 3.2gpa it was hard getting into a four year college, because of my SAT scores were low. So CCBC has absolutely helped me focus on my goals and career which is Art Therapy.

ccbc isn't a bad school, it's great if you want to knock out your prerequisites. but as warning, there are some teachers that are not fit to be teaching there. the only major difficulty is talk to an advisor to get transfer information; though if you have problems there are a small group of knowledgeable adviser's.

    Tips for prospective students

if you have a bad teacher, try to get out of it early on or transfer to a different class.

    Academic Rigor

some classes are fun and challenging. most psych teachers and bio teachers are fun and engaging.

    Dorm Life

    no dorms.

    Food and Dining

there isn't to much food options to chose from ccbc at the essex location. though in it's defense, there is a mall, and some small little restaurants near by.

    What to do for fun

i like that on friday around noon they sometimes have music recitals you may go to at the essex campus in the e building.

    Bang for the buck

over all it is a cheap school. the only thing that would denote from it would be the handful of bad advisers and teachers. but those can be overcome by finding tutors or a better adviser.

Great for these types of students

this is great for people who are not sure what they want to do with school yet and want to get the basics out of the way.

    Clubs and Activities

they have a masssive array of clubs to join.

    Greek Life

    none

    Campus Safety

ccbc essex has public safety, a hospital not even a mile away. also they have those blue emergency consoles with a button you can press if you are indeed in an emergency!

so far at ccbc it has been a great experience for me meeting new people from different countries and cultures. i like this school i'm glad i attend this school because of the class size is small and more easier to learn from the professor's. also, the professor's help you understand the course you will be taking up and make sure you are getting the information of class work assigned.

    Tips for prospective students

this a great college to come too

    Academic Rigor

    great learning environment

    Food and Dining

great food to chose from not boring very tasty food i go to the cafe almost everyday.

    In three sentences

ccbc is a communty college that allows young adults and returning students the opportunity to better themselves academically. i personally have learned a lot about myself while being at this school. it does not fit the usual 13th grade stereotype because it gives you a chance to grow up before entering into what i call the real world or a four year university.

    Tips for prospective students

the number one tip i would give to prospective students is do not treat it like it is still high school. the only similarity is that everything you do from the beginning of your first class until you graduate affects you in every way. aim high and remain focused on your initial goals. if you are attending with the intent of receiving your associates degree, than keep striving for it. never get side tracked by things that do not help you get to where you are headed.

    Academic Rigor

i would say the difficulty of the class depends on you and the teacher teaching it. if you already know that you are not usually successful in a specific subject than some required classes may be more difficult than others. also, there are a few teachers that make assignments and communication very difficult but i strongly believe that is the case in every college.

    Dorm Life

since ccbc is a two year school dorm life was not accessible.

    Food and Dining

food and dining depended on which campus you were taking your classes at. ccbc has many locations but i honestly believe that the best campus is ccbc essex.

    What to do for fun

there are many activities that students can participate in such as student life, athletics and the arts and drama programs.

The Community College of Baltimore County has a great theatre department, all of the teachers are well educated Masters of Fine Arts. Although the theatre program is great, the general education teachers seem not to care or be as excited about their classes. I would only recommend this school for fine arts purposes.

    Tips for prospective students

    Did learn a lot

The myth that community college are not up to par with 4 year schools is completly fabricated. All the course material was the same. As a biology major, corners cannot be cut. And in no way do I feel like they were.

    Did enjoy being here

I did enjoy CCBC, minus some of the students who did not take their education seriously. They didn't mind skipping class, or being noisy in the library, or disrupting your class just to hold their conversations.

    Bang for the buck

It just makes sense to choose CCBC. If you are a student that is paying for your tuition then $6,000 a year compared to $30,000 at a 4 year; the winner is obvious.

    Tips for prospective students

CCBC is a great stepping stone for 4 year institutions. My view is if you cannot make it at a two year, than the chances of being successful at a four year goes down. So go into every class ready to learn, and ready to achieve. If you go into any class thinking that you do not need to try, than you are just preventing yourself from reaching your potential.

Great for these types of students

CCBC is a perfect match for any college bound student that wants to save lots of money, parents and full-time workers that want to continue their education, high school students that may not have performed well while in high school, and soldiers returning and wanting to get an education.

This school offers programs not found elsewhere for example, the Interpreter Preparation program can only be found in this school in the state of Maryland. This school is great since it offers specialized programs with great instructors.

    Bang for the buck

With the new laws put into place the tuition has decreased making it affordable. I know my tuition has decreased at least five hundred dollars. With it's wide array of programs you will surely find what you want and be able to pay for it.

If this seems like the college of your choice, my advice to you is to come prepared. Make sure that you know what you want and stay determined to make sure that you get it. The campus is large, make sure you get a map and what each building offers.

    Am learning a lot

I can honestly say that all the resources you need to be successful are readily available to you here at ccbc, either online or on campus you just have to know how to access them, and thats what the advisors and the professors are therefore, or you can access this information on theirsite which is pretty easy to navigate

    Am enjoying being here

I like it here better than I like it at university I attended prior. It's easier to keep up with, the professors are more accessible and personable. They really want to help you succeed even if you don't want to help yourself.

    Bang for the buck

You get a good quality education, and you get actual knowledge and not just get pushed through because you showed up to class. The professors make an effort to ensure that every student is keeping up. And I mean it's pretty cheap, especially if your lucky enough to get a pell grant.

    Tips for prospective students

Use your resources, that's what your tuition is paying for. (Example: academic advisors, website, blackboard, etc)

Great for these types of students

Students who are used to small class sizes, like a more personable environment, students who have other commitments outside of school, people who would like to travel because they offer online courses, etc

It's amazing how much you learn in one lecture. No time is ever wasted. I am particularly satisfied with the Honors Program here which is intellectually stimulating and challenging.

    Am enjoying being here

CCBC does not offer the college experience like other schools might. There are no dorms. Personally I have fun with other students with no problem. It's easy to commute here and have fun in between classes. There are always events going on whether it be a play or performance or a visiting speaker or a meeting on the community book connection.

    Bang for the buck

The only thing that is discounted at CCBC is the tuition. Why waste thousands of dollars anywhere else? CCBC offers a variety of classes and has many services to help you with your educational planning, career planning, and student life activites.

    Tips for prospective students

Do your work and go to class! Many of my peers who are having trouble in classes simply aren't trying. In order to learn, one has to go to class, listen to lectures, read the textbook, and turn in all the projects on time. Most of the teachers are very helpful if you are willing to work for the grade.

Great for these types of students

This is a great school for anyone who wants to save money, earn an associates degree, transfer to a four year school in Maryland, change and improve their academic habits, continue their education, or learn for fun.

I'm in the Automotive Tech Program and love it. The teachers really work with you. My GM class mates are really a great bunch.

All of the Automotive classes are in one building for 8 weeks and then you go out into a dealership for 8 weeks. It is an intense program but it is helping me aim for the career I want.

    Bang for the buck

    You bet!

    Tips for prospective students

Get your name in early - they only accept so many into the programs.

Great for these types of students

People who want to work on automobiles.
