Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot The teachers here are just as strict and educated as four-year college professors. So learning will not be an issue.
Did enjoy being here I have to admit, it gets boring sometimes at UCC if you don't get involved in activities and groups. Most of your time will be spent studying in the library, meeting your friends for lunch, and working out in the gym. As long as you make friends and get active with the various events happening every week you wont have a dull moment.
Bang for the buck Compared to the prices of four-year colleges and the span of majors other community colleges offer, this college is your best start for pursuing any degree.
Tips for prospective students One thing that happens a lot is that students are placed in courses with the same material they covered in high school. This could be avoided two ways:
- Contact the head of that department and try to work something out
- Or see the guidance counselors to test out of that courseGreat for these types of students From students who aren't sure what to major in to students who have everything planned out. Being that the tuition is cheaper than nearly all four-year colleges and you could transfer to any public school in NJ as a Jr. (As long as you receive your associates degree) I recommend this to all students. What tends to happen with students who excel in high school is that they go to a good four-year university thinking it would be as easy as high school. They end up failing or doing very poor their first semester and then try to make up for it their second semester, meanwhile their parents are paying a 5 figure tuition hoping there child gets back on track. Most of these people end up at UCC and other community colleges after 1 or 2 years at a four-year university. I'm not saying that students at two-year colleges don't fail classes, everybody fails or gets a poor grade in at least one course but it's less expensive to fail at a two-year college.
