Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All of the teachers have office hours which enable the students to get extra time if something does not click in class. Not many colleges can guarantee this 1 on 1 time.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere is one in which you are able to meet people very quickly, and because of the smaller campus you are able to see them constantly, and form true friendships which is harder to do on larger campuses.
Bang for the buck UNC-P is part of the University of North Carolina colleges so the education is absolutely excellent, however, the tuition is one of the less expensive of these schools.
Tips for prospective students When going into any college, you need to make sure that you are focused and dedicated to your classes. College give you the opportunity to choose what general education classes that you would like to take, so take advantage of that and get into classes that interest you. Get involved on campus in anything that catches your eye. Don't be afraid to talk to other people of campus, they will be more than happy to help, answer, or just talk to you about anything. Believe it because it's true. Check out the university's library, cafeteria, entrances to dorms, and bookstore for information; because these are the major traffic areas for students, information is always posted there. Last but not least, UNC-P has A LOT to offer all levels of students. Because of the smaller size, they have the ability to do things that many of the larger universities cannot do. Enjoy the privileges!
Great for these types of students Great for students who love the small town feel, making immediate, strong, and lasting relationships/friendship, like to interact with their campus and campus-like activities, like being able to connect with their professor on a higher, more personal level and for students who enjoy a high level of school spirit.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I have family that go to UNCP and they say that the learning environment is great!!
Will enjoy being here I have lived in Pembroke all of my life (for 16 years) and I am Native American just like mainly every one else in Pembroke. Its safe around here. There is not a huge crime rate at all. Yeah stuff happens but thats everywhere. I have visted the school like a million times and it is a very nice campus in my opinion.
Bang for the buck the college tution is not that expensive
Tips for prospective students If you come from a big city I strongly encourage you to visit the school and town for a weekend. We are finally getting a hotel!! Pembroke is home to me but there is nothing here yeah we have a walmart, mcdonalds, other fast food places, about 5 restaurants, and some other places. If your looking for places to hang out outside of school campus there is not much. Robeson county in general doesnt have anything anyway.
Great for these types of students If you love the small towns, and just being laid back.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I've learned a lot in my classes. I've actually retained the information that I've learned in my major classes better than I did the information from other classes.
Am enjoying being here The university is nice, but it's boring. A lot of students have transferred to other colleges after a year or two at UNCP. There isn't much to really do. Lumbee Hall often gives students the 'run-around', and the university often makes decisions that affect the students without their (students) approval. Once I graduate, I'm NOT attending this college again.
Bang for the buck The tuition at UNCP is less expensive than other colleges. The tuition seems to increase every year. I had work study when I was a freshman, but I haven't been able to get it for the past two years even though my financial needs haven't changed since I was accepted there. It's like they give the work to whoever they want to give it to.
Tips for prospective students Go to bed at a decent hour (before midnight). Read your syllabus when you first get it and continue to read it weekly throughout the semester, because all of your assignments are on your syllabus. Your teachers contact information and grading scale are also on the syllabus. Turn in your assignments on time, late is not accepted. Study for your tests and quizzes, take advantage of all extra credit opportunities, because teachers like it when you try. Some teachers give you two or three extra points on your final grade for that extra effort. If you have to eat in the cafeteria, then go to the sandwich station and the salad station.
Great for these types of students It's great for people who like being in small towns. It's also great for people who need individualized attention. There's nothing to do in Pembroke except for going to nightclubs and shopping at Walmart. If you want to do something other nightclubs or Walmart, then go to another college.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Despite the university being off in a rural area, the quality of education there is excellent. The professors love their career choice and actively help the students outside of class if they ask for it.
Am enjoying being here The community here is very tight. Because it is a small school, you attach quickly to the people you live with in your dorm, and the people you study with within your major. The class size here is relatively small, even in the general education classes, so the teachers are able to call the students by name, rather than, You there in the back.
Bang for the buck Despite being the cheapest school in the UNC system, I believe that a student can get a more positive experience here than at some of the larger schools. Pembroke's recruiting slogan is Where learning gets personal. The quality of education at Pembroke is the envy of several of my friends who have gone to larger universities. Add to that the social experience from meeting so many people who share common interests with you and Pembroke is a hidden gem in southeast North Carolina.
Tips for prospective students It is VERY easy to overload your schedule. I have learned from personal experience that you cannot do everything and can be difficult to tell the people you respect, No. Go to bed at a somewhat decent hour, i.e., before 3:30 in the morning. When teachers say that college is a lot more work than high school, they really do mean it. It is a LOT of work. Teachers WILL NOT accept late work like they did in high school.
Great for these types of students Students who do not mind living in a rural area.
Students who want to have a personal connection to their teacher.
Students who will embrace cultural diversity.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers at UNCP are very dedicated to their students. In a typical classroom on the UNC-Pembroke campus , you will find maybe twenty students or less to one teacher, meaning that you will get more teacher to student interaction. The teachers also provide office hours , where students can walk in and talk about problems and concerns. This is a great way to get extra help in subject that you are struggling and this is the perfect opportunity to get to know your teacher, in my opinion., the more interaction time with your professors, the easier college will be.
Am enjoying being here There are a great variety of on-campus activities to be involved in bu,t on the weekends everyone tends to leave. Pembroke, North Carolina is a very small town and any kind of night-life activities are just a drive away. So if you have a car or know someone that drives then, anyone staying during the weekend can find a lot to do. There are normally on campus parties that are thrown by students in their apartments.
Also the campus is small, its a ten minute walk from each end of the campus. So if you like to get in a couple more minutes of sleep, this school would be great.Bang for the buck Everyone knows that college is expensive. The University of North Carolina at Pembroke isn't the cheapest college, but it is affordable. Most students can just pick up a couple scholarships and then work-study and school is paid for. If you live on campus you get 125 dollars, approximately, on your Braves Card, which allows you to buy pretty much whatever you want on campus. You get a refund check, then during buy back season you get half your money back that you spent on books. the activities on campus, for attending students, are affordable. Most of the events are free.
Tips for prospective students - Be well rested, most students think that staying up 'til four am is smart. trust me i thought the same thing and I soon found out that it makes life hard.
- Talk to your teachers. Many teachers that seem stern in front of their class can actually be pretty nice in their office.
- Get Involved! That's the only way to enjoy college.
- Study , study study.Great for these types of students This school is great for students that like small schools setting. Students that go to University of North Carolina at Pembroke should be ready to learn. Pembroke isn't a party school but there is normally one every weekend. The campus is well kept and the people are very respectful here. I encourage people to attend UNCP.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I absolutely love going to class, because I know the professors are willing to take the time to make sure I learn the material and retain it, by using teaching methods that relate to students who learn from visual aids, by reading or writing, by hearing, and by doing. The professors balance each lecture so that no matter which way a student learns best, the lecture is guaranteed to be processed the right way.
Am enjoying being here Campus is wonderful, and you can walk from one end to the other in fifteen minutes or less. The campus is always refreshingly clean, and because of the Smoking rules, you don't tend to see cigarette butts laying around on our campus! The Givens Performing Arts center always has wonderful shows including the ballet, and often times famous comedians!
Bang for the buck Out of all the University of North Carolina schools Pembroke's Campus is the Cheapest but still of the best quality!!
Tips for prospective students Visit uncp.edu today to learn anything about the university, and see what programs are here for you!
Great for these types of students This university is good for the student who wants the full college experience without the harsh prices!

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot With a student-faculty ration of 15:1 I would assume that one-on-one time is more readily available at UNC Pembroke than at other schools. Furthermore, having spoken to various admissions representatives, current and former students, the quality of education has been portrayed as one which is well-rounded and addresses students' personal and educational needs. Determining a major might be difficult if you begin school undeclared because UNC Pembroke offers 41 undergraduate programs, 17 graduate programs, and 1 certification programs. Personally I believe that a smaller school that has a variety of programs available and teachers willing to give students individual attention is the best type of school.
Will enjoy being here Although I have never been on campus, I will be visiting during the February open house. It may sound crazy, but UNC Pembroke was my first choice and the only school I applied to. If you speak to either Christina Bell or Tony Lewis in the admissions office they will tell you that this is the school that I wanted to attend. Even though Pembroke has approximately 80 student organizations including Greek Life and Honors programs, these were not my priority. I have heard, from some locals visiting Charlotte, that every 4th of July there is a huge celebration in Pembroke and that the community is more like a family. Personally I like the sound of that. A current student, a 2011 graduate and personal friend of mine, told me which dorm rooms she thought were the best, and given that we have exactly the same preferences in living spaces, I am just going to work out any kinks that may arise on campus in the fall of 2012. I looked up the school's credentials, safety ratings, and asked all the students, faculty, and locals that I have encountered how they like the community. Having been told the school is extremely safe, diverse, and generally speaking an exceptional place to live, I know that I will love being on campus.
Bang for the buck I am the second oldest of four siblings, my older sister is going to be a junior in college the fall I begin, and my two younger brothers will graduate in 2015 and 2016. One of my parents is self-employed, and the other makes enough to pay the bills and put a little aside each month for a rainy day. Thank God the House signed for the tax cut extension compromise, I was glued to CNN until they made the announcement because my family wouldn't make it with $40 out of each paycheck. UNC Pembroke is an exceptional institution and thankfully also one of the most affordable in North Carolina, with a cost of $12,366.00 (2010-2011) for state residents, you don't get much better than that for a 4 year institution, you don't get much better than that unless you attend community college (which I am not knocking in any way). However, realistically, no one can deny that anything under $20, 000 nowadays isn't a steal when it comes to education.
Tips for prospective students For prospective students, I would suggest rather than focusing on the perks available on campus and where your friends are attending school, you focus on what is affordable for you and your family (optimally a solution that won't leave you in debt), a school that provides a safe living atmosphere, a school that meets your academic needs/preferences, a school not to far from home (if you plan to stay in state, so that in case of emergency family could easily get to you), and a school that offers work study. However nice it might be for you to be around your friends and enjoy a good party every now and then, that's not what you're going to college for, hopefully, you're going to college to either further your education and make progress, or to make a difference in the world. As for friends, the friends that you might not see on campus weren't always your friends, at one point, they too were strangers, so consider college an opportunity to make new friends.
Great for these types of students I believe that UNC Pembroke would be great for students who aren't looking for trouble, want a small, safe campus, and are more devoted to their education than socializing. I have been told that in Pembroke you really have to look for trouble, and my mother told me that if I get in trouble then she knows that I was looking for it and that I will have NO excuse for my behavior. Students who want a close knit community and don't usually like interacting with a lot of people but would still like to have the opportunity available to them, would fit in quite nicely at UNC Pembroke as well. Although that is more a description of the criteria I used to decide that UNC Pembroke was right for me, really that's what would make the school right for anyone.

Am enjoying being here The college campus itself is ok, but the town of Pembroke does not have much to offer.
Bang for the buck Students get a good education for an affordable tuition.
Tips for prospective students If you wish to have a good time here, it's probably best that you make a lot of friends to keep you company and to keep you occupied.
Great for these types of students Students who wish to stay focused, and those who do not do a lot of clubbing.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning how to communicate well with others and how to better myself as a writer in my English class. I am also learning how to balance studying and having time to socialize, so that I will meet new individuals.
Am enjoying being here I am really enjoying attending this University because it offers me an opportunity to experience life away from my family. This university also has a lot of entertainment throughout the week which makes me feel right at home.
Bang for the buck The University of North Carolina at
Pembroke makes sure students get the education that they paid for. When I attend my classes I hear non stop lectures until it's time for the class to end which means that I do not feel as if I wasted my money.Tips for prospective students I would encourage students who are looking at this university as a choice for college to go ahead and apply. I would encourage them to be ready to read and study, but also make time to attend the events that the school hosts.
Great for these types of students The University of North Carolina at Pembroke is a great school for students who like to be on a smaller campus with fewer students in a class, so that they can get the one on one learning that they desire.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I love my classes and the teachers. They are always willing to work with you if you are having trouble in their class. You aren't just a number like you would be in a big university.
Am enjoying being here I come from a small town and I knew that a large college would be too overwhelming. UNCP is great because of the small town feel. I have already made so many close friends.
Bang for the buck UNCP is a great school in the University of North Carolina schools. You are getting as good of an education as someone going to the bigger schools at a much more affordable price.
Tips for prospective students It would be a good idea to visit the campus beforehand. Not everyone likes staying on campus all the time, but there isn't much in the way of entertainment in the town around the school.
Great for these types of students This would be a great choice for someone who enjoys the peace and quiet that living in a small town brings: no loud music in the dorms or loud parties that would distract from studying.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Graduated in 1979 and coming back for an add-on licensure. Taking on-line classes, works for my busy schedule and prices are a little less than the larger schools. Learning a great deal in my field of study.
Am enjoying being here Occasionally I visit the campus to see professors, people for the most part are very helpful and friendly.
Bang for the buck Moderately affordable but price increases are here as well as other schools. The old adage of supply and demand is real.
Tips for prospective students The University is in a very rural area, don't go out late at night alone especially if you are a female. There have been some ladies singled out and violated since they were in there car alone after hours. Two men work this tactic together. There are plenty on nice people there you need to be careful.
Great for these types of students Those from small towns or those who are ready to get serious and do the work. If you are use to the big city life you might go bonkers until you get use to being in the country! for sure.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This school had great faculty and staff with smaller classroom sizes. There are a lot of activities as well as clubs/organizations available on campus so you can stay involved.
Tips for prospective students If your accepted and attend don't be late or skip classes the majority of your professors will know your missing.
Academic Rigor Not as challenging as some people make it out to be just show up, pay attention, do assignments to the best of your ability, and study you'll do just fine. I'm a sophomore and have yet to fail any of my classes
Dorm Life Dorm life was okay I only spent one year and two summers in the dorms but overall its pretty good they also offer activities like movie night, and information sessions about stress, adjusting to college life, health, and fitness.
Food and Dining They have the cafeteria which hits the spot there is also berts cafe, starbucks fuel (a smoothie shop), and simply to go (a mini snack shop with chips drinks cookies sandwiches salads etc.)
What to do for fun There is a game room with a bowling alley, a gym with state of the art equipment to get you as buff as you need, two Olympic size pools one that its three feet around the edge and five feet in the middle and another that is 14 feet with 16 foot drop off and a sauna
Bang for the buck The second cheapest tuition in the state of NC Elizabeth City being the first
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every fall there is the two rivers classic football game between UNCP- and Fayetteville State University VERY BIG GAME
Great for these types of students Want to get away from the big city
like peace and quiet when it should be quiet outside
like smaller class sizes
like to know their professors and their professors know themClubs and Activities Not really the party scene if your into big parties hosted at venues there's a place where the majority of parties are held and thats MARIANI'S other than that HOUSE/APT PARTY IS WHAT YOU WILL GET LOL but THESE PEOPLE SURE KNOW HOW TO HAVE FUN
Greek Life ............ THERE IS PLENTY OF GREEK LIFE AVAILABLE IF YOUR INTERESTED IN JOINING
Campus Safety TOO SAFE ALL PARTIES ARE SHUT DOWN BEFORE 2AM and that's definite campus police are always patrolling AND DORMS ARE TIGHT WITH CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT WITH VALID STATE ISSUED OR COLLEGE ID YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN ID IF YOU ARE WALKING IN THE VICINITY of campus so you can be identified at all times they don't really check people much but it has happened and can happen so be prepared

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UNCP is a great college for students looking for small classes and a lot of 1-on-1 time with professors. Though some professors are apathetic, many actually care about their students and are willing to help them out.
Tips for prospective students It is not very difficult to get into UNCP. Just make sure you hit all the deadlines.
Academic Rigor Overall, it is a pretty easy University.
Dorm Life Dorm mates are generally respectful, and the RA's keep order.
Food and Dining The cafeteria and local cafe are all the options on campus, but many fast food restaurants surround the Pembroke area.
What to do for fun Many clubs and organizations exist on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The University of North Carolina at Pembroke is a small university found in the middle of a rural town called Pembroke. The city of Pembroke does not offer students any activities, and tends to be a city of crime. Students must go to neighboring cities to find activities of interest.
Academic Rigor Since UNCP is a small univeristy, most instructors will go out of their way to help students achieve. Instructors will do one on one tutoring with struggling students. There is also a great academic tutoring service provided by the student life with allows students to be tutored by fellow peers.
Dorm Life The Dorm life is rather disappointing because so many of the residents are loud at night which makes it difficult to sleep. The only positive to dorm life is meeting new people everyday.
Food and Dining The food and dining is the horrible here. There were several times that I recieve undercooked food. There is not a wide variety of food selection either.
What to do for fun In order to have fun, I must drive to neighboring cities such as, Lumberton and Fayetteville. Most of the time I just study to pass the time.
Campus Safety I really do not feel safe on campus what-so-ever. Last semester, several students were robbed at gun point prior to Winter break. The campus police do not seem to be involved in protecting students nor do they go out of the way to help students too often.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I think that this university is superb. It is top-notch in its handling of students, curriculum and staff. I recommend this university to all who will listen and will continue to do so.
Tips for prospective students I would suggest that students work according to their own pace and current situations. I would also suggest lots of communication with advisors and professors.
Academic Rigor This would be 5 stars.
Dorm Life I have never stayed in a dorm, but have heard that it is great living.
Food and Dining I don't stay on campus and have never experienced the food or dining, but heard it is great.
What to do for fun There are many fun activities and events held on campus for on campus and off campus students. The university has the best community fun day that I have ever experienced anywhere and it is all free. Great activities that you could get nowhere for free. They have the best seminar series, concerts and plays as well. This helps to build the student up holistically. The university also provides many other fun events such as give-aways, food, and social gatherings on campus.
Bang for the buck This school is one of the top schools of its kind for the price.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus This school has the tradition of honoring the Native American heritage and roots of the Pembroke community. The university honors the city of Pembroke for its beginning and connection to the univerity.
Great for these types of students This school is great for any type of student but I think it has especially good programs that target the nontraditional and older student. They have started programs just for these population. That is what drew me to The University of North Carolina Pembroke.
Clubs and Activities There is a wealth of clubs and activities on campus, more than enough for all students to participate in more than one club and activities. There are history clubs, commuity development clubs, career advancemant clubs, and more.
Greek Life I don't know much other than there are fraternities and sororities on campus.
Campus Safety Campus safety is great at this university. They are always patrolling areas of the campus day and night. Anytime there is an incident that warrants the students being informed, we get text and email notifications. I feel very good about safety on this campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This school is affordable and provides quality education. The class sizes are small, the people are friendly and the campus atmosphere is very calm and relaxed. Your time here at UNCP will be what you make of it!
Tips for prospective students This school is located in an extremely small town and a student from a larger town may not like it hear to much so it is best to tour this college prior to attending if you are from a big city.
Academic Rigor Some classes are hard and some classes are easy it all depends on the professor. However, if you pay attention in your classes and do your assignments you will end up learning a lot in each class you choose to take.
Dorm Life The dorms here a pretty nice in particular Oak, Pine and Cypress. The rooms look fairly brand new and in Oak and Pine if you have a pretty nice sized bathroom that you only have to share with 3 other people. Housing and Residence life also puts on fun activities in each of the dorms throughout the semester including movie nights and ice cream parties. The negative side to housing is that Cypress Hall is located at the end of the campus and it can be annoying to have to walk from Cypress to the cafe or to class everyday. Other than that campus housing is pretty good here just try to stay in either Pine, Oak or Cypress. Village Apartments are also a good option.
Food and Dining The food here is very hit or miss. During the week the sandwich bar, pizza bar and the chef line are always open during lunch and dinner and they normally serve good food. The cafe also has fried chicken Wednesdays sometimes. The desserts are also good especially the cookies. The lines are usually not too long and you can get seconds for most of the food. However sometimes the cafe serves weird food and some days the only thing that is good to eat is the pizza. On the plus side the cafe is being renovated this summer once finished will have more places to eat and more room to sit. If you are on a meal plan you also get money for the campus food places like bert's the smoothie shop and starbucks.
What to do for fun There is not much to do for fun in the city surrounding the campus. Many students also go home during the weekends so sometimes the campus is dead. If you are on campus during the weekend you are probably going to have to drive to Lumberton or Fayetteville to have fun. Getting involved in campus activities and attending campus events, performances in GPAC and sports games are normally good sources of fun during the week. You can also go to the gym or play basketball. If you do not have the option of leaving town during the weekends you can always call up friends and have movie nights or game nights. Sometimes you just have to make your own fun!
Bang for the buck UNCP is one of cheapest schools in the county and it still offers quality education. It is worth the amount of money you will spend and if you can work during the summer and save up you will probably be able to afford to come here all four years.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The town of Pembroke sometimes host Powwows and other festivities through out the year. There is also a tradition called Pembroke Day where several stores and organizations throughout Pembroke and UNCP gather on the campus and sell products and inform students and the community about their organizations.
Great for these types of students Students who are serious about their education, love being involved and meeting new people, students who know how to make the best of any situation they are in, students who are looking for a cheap school to go to while still getting a good education. Students who do not give up easily.
Clubs and Activities For a small campus there are plenty of clubs and activities to join. For most majors there is a club that helps students get to know their professors and their peers and learn more about career options available to them. The campus also holds several movie nights and ice cream socials and other social events throughout the semester. During the Spring Semester there are several activities to do during Spring Fling Week, including Pig pickin's and fun races. GPAC also hosts several performances and plays throughout the year including step shows and comedy shows. However, It is up to the student to take advantage of these clubs and activities to make the most of their college experience
Greek Life You are aware of who is Greek and who is not here at UNCP but most of the Greek life is pretty friendly and easy to get along with. There are several different Greeks on campus and the campus is constantly adding more.
Campus Safety The Campus Safety is pretty good here. The police are always driving by during the day and night and their are several emergency call boxes located throughout the campus. The police are normally helpful if you need help with something too.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I think Pembroke is a great school with small classroom learning. This makes it so that the students can have a one on one relationship with their professor. By having these small classroom settings it makes it easier for students to learn and understand the material at hand.
Tips for prospective students My tips for prospective students is to stay focused and organized.
What to do for fun Things we do for fun at Pembroke is participating in different organizations, as well as intramural teams they have on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Some of the unsual traditions would have to do with the Lumbee traditions. Being that our university is located in a indian community we see a lot of different traditions they have throughout the year. For instance, the Lumbees have a homecoming for all of those who are in their tribe every year, welcoming them home.
Great for these types of students Our school is a very diverse university, accepting all race and nationalities.
Clubs and Activities I have been apart of an organization called ACE, which provides the campus with different activities to do throughout each week.
Campus Safety Our campus safety is excellent, we receive emails whenever we are in danger, or if there is bad weather coming our way.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UNCP is a great option if you prefer class sizes on a smaller scale than the larger universities. There are plenty of extracurricular activities, sports and clubs for you to get involved. The faculty and staff get to know you by name, rather than student id.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus before you decide to apply. Schedule a tour with student services and allow them to show you the campus and your options in full. Come prepared. Bring a list of questions with you and notes you have made on other colleges/universities. Having a notebook just to compare colleges/universities is the best tool. You can use it as your own personal journal for thoughts, information, questions and contacts at each school. Searching for the right school can be overwhelming. You won't remember details about every campus. The notebook will be your best friend during your decision making!
Academic Rigor The classes are nice due to the smaller size. Research the professors and read their online reviews. Read campus publications and website information posted for the past 2 years and see which professors stand out. Join chat groups through social media and ask other UNCP students for advice and recommendations.
Dorm Life The dorms tend to be overcrowded. UNCP has several apartment options located around the campus - managed by the school and other management companies.
Food and Dining The food at UNCP is great. You'll go home to visit and feel like your family's refrigerator has NOTHING once you experience the dining hall food choices available. Surrounding restaurants and a Starbucks on campus are an added plus. Your Braves Card will get you discounts at local restaurants too.
What to do for fun Pembroke is a small town. Most entertainment is sought out in local towns like Lumberton or Fayetteville. You're only 1.5 hours from Myrtle Beach, SC, so that's a plus!
Bang for the buck The bookstore is very helpful and offers book buybacks toward the end of each semester. You can receive a list of the ISBN for your textbooks and research options of textbook rental from online sites as well: half.com. I have used both services during my years at UNCP.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Sporting events are fun. The university also has a large indoor swimming pool and fitness center.
Great for these types of students UNCP is a good option for students who want a small scale setting. The introverts have their peace and controlled atmosphere and those more outgoing and adventurous can always find a group, club or gathering to socialize. If you are used to your high school teacher assisting you with projects, knowing you by name, etc. - UNCP is the right school. I've grown to respect all my professors at UNCP because they took the time to know me individually. That says a lot.
Clubs and Activities UNCP has a lot of interesting clubs and activities. The campus has a performing arts center that hosts many plays, speakers, musicals and concerts throughout the year - and its all within walking distance!
Greek Life UNCP has an active Greek Life.
Campus Safety My parents and I both agree UNCP has the cleanest and safest campus we visited during my selection process. The security is hands on and ready to assist you with your concerns/needs. They offer free engraving for your items, including bicycles, for added security. The walkways are well-lit and students watch out for one another.

Tips for prospective students For a better experience get more involved in clubs and extracurricular activites such as A.C.E.
Academic Rigor Depending on the professor you get, your classes won't be that tough especially if you have an interest in that particular subject. However, some professors like to challenge their students, but the harder the student is willing to work the greater the reward.
