    Am learning a lot

    In high school, I usually forget a lot of the material that I learn within a few weeks. But, somehow the TU professors have managed to implant into my brain everything they have ever taught me - I can't seem to forget any of it. This comes in rather helpful around test time. At the moment, I am taking very basic classes, so I don't see exactly how it'll be helpful in my career quite yet. But I have been taught all of this material very well. I am looking forward to my future courses that will focus more on my major.

    At first, I didn't think I would like TU just because I have lived in Tulsa all of my life and going to TU would only mean that I would be stuck in Tulsa even longer. But the campus is like a whole other world - not even Tulsa. I don't feel like I'm as close to home as I actually am. Living on campus is great - it's so beautiful and you have so many opportunities to explore the school. I have yet to become too social though, so I don't think I'm having quite as much fun as I could be. But I plan to socialize a bit more in the near future.

    As many students know, TU isn't the cheapest university out there. On the contrary, it is quite expensive. I'm not quite sure if it's worth it. I am learning a lot and I do enjoy the campus atmosphere, however, I do believe that I could find similar education at a low-priced university. But, TU does specialize in engineering and I feel like the tuition is worth it for engineering classes. Fortunately, I am an engineering major.
    Tips for prospective students

    I was told that I shouldn't worry about college - that it'll be easy. That isn't necessarily true for TU. I'm not saying that TU is impossible to get through academically, but you have to really set your mind on the school work. I do all of the suggested problems that are assigned to me and study rigorously for the tests. At first, I was just thinking hey, this is college, I can miss a few classes but I soon learned that that was a very bad idea. Missing a few classes means missing a lot of notes that will come in very handy for future tests. So my tip for any prospective students is not to miss any classes and actually try to do your best in all of your classes. As my chemistry professor said: You may have been one of the brightest students in your high school, but look around you. Here, everyone of you were the brightest of your high school. You're going to have to try harder than you did in high school to get through this.
    Great for these types of students

    I've noticed that TU consists mostly of engineering majors. So if you're one of the geeks at your school, you definitely belong here. Here, geeks aren't considered geeks. Actually, many of them are part of fraternities and sororities. You would also enjoy TU if you are into international studies because there are tons of international students here and the university highly encourages travel abroad.

    Am learning a lot

    I love the University of Tulsa's curriculum. All students have to take certain classes, and it helps to break up your classes that are all focused on your major. Also, all liberal arts majors are required to have a minor (and science majors are encouraged to have one), which really gave me the opportunity to expand my horizons and learn about subjects that have always interested me.

    I LOVE the campus, and through different activities and events, I have met some amazing people. I was nervous about going to a school with no one from my high school class, but I was so perfectly matched with my roommate, and I have met so many great people that it isn't a problem at all. It really feels like a community because it is smaller, and its nice to see people everyday that I recognize or are friends with.

    TU can get pretty pricey, but you are getting a first rate education. We are often called the Harvard of the Midwest, and that is certainly true. The teachers are all passionate about what they teach, so its worth it. And TU offers some pretty excellent scholarships (i.e. any national merit scholar gets free tuition.)
    Tips for prospective students

    Come take a tour of the campus! Taking a tour will really let you know if you feel at home at the school or not. Also, TU offers a few events for seniors called Tulsa Time, where you come stay with a student for a night and go to several activities and meetings all about the university. That was a great time, and it was really cool to see the campus and the students from the inside.

    TU is really rigorous academically, but its definitely doable. You just have to be able to study. But one of the things I love most about TU is how diverse the student population is. There are so many international students and so many people from all walks of life. I love it!

    Did learn a lot

    For the program I was in, I learned a lot, but I felt that my education was not well-rounded enough. I liked that I had to take many different subjects, but I felt that my computer science courses were too focused on security and not enough on theory.
    Tips for prospective students

    Try to talk to people from all over the world! You have a unique opportunity because you will be with people from, in particular, the biggest oil production nations in the world. I learned so much about this industry while I attended TU.
    Great for these types of students

    TU is great for students who would rather study a lot than think outside the box. I found that I could not have a good discussion in my English classes because the students there were too used to AP English where they just said what the teacher wanted to hear. Perhaps this was just because I was a freshman.

    If you enjoy and academic challenge, TU is a great school. The campus atmosphere is nothing like the atmosphere at a larger university so you have to search to get involved. The nice thing is that it is very hard to slip through the cracks at a university of this size.

    Get involved early. Do not wait to meet people because the size of the university leads to a less active campus.

    Many people would dissagree with giving the dining a 5 star. For me, It was awesome though. I am celiac and they prepare me gluten free food for every meal.

    I am on the school cross country and track teams so I have very little free time. Usually I just hang out with friends.

    I visited the TU campus a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with the school. The staff and student ambassadors were so friendly and helpful that it made me feel right at home. Definitely at the top of my list!

    Definitely apply! If you are unsure about your interest, visit the school. It is beautiful and you will feel right at home!

    The dorms are awesome and big. Accommodations like these are hard to come by!

    The dining areas are new and nice, and even if you do not want to eat on campus, Tulsa has a lot of good restaurants!

    Tulsa has a lot to do! If it isn't football or basketball season for the Golden Hurricane anymore, you can head downtown to an Oilers game, or head out for a nice day at the zoo. Or just join a club and have fun on Campus!

    this depends on your major and what classes you choose. i think it's too expensive regarding the physical/biological science and math classes that are taught in a very confusing way. you're pretty much teaching yourself.

    The University of Tulsa is very academic based; curriculums require students to take the maximum amount of hours almost every semester. Despite the time commitment that this brings, the student association constantly has intriguing events to offer. Overall, Tulsa is an extremely well-rounded university.

    Apply early and be aggressive about scholarships. TU has plenty to offer!
    Academic Rigor

    The classes at TU are very challenging but not impossible. I've left every class feeling like I learned something I didn't know and something that I would actually use in the future. Almost every class is time consuming and difficult but the professors grade very fairly. If you work hard, you will do well.
    Dorm Life

    The freshman dorm experience is awesome, there are interesting activities offered on a weekly basis. The lobbies of this dorm are constantly filled with students playing board games, watching movies, or talking.
    Food and Dining

    The dining hall is decent, the food isn't terrible. There is one on campus restaurant with good food, and several fast food places.
    What to do for fun

    The faculty at TU do a great job at planning student activities that people will actually go to. Every event I've attended has been worthwhile.
    Bang for the buck

    TU is expensive in comparison to a state school, but the education is much more valuable. More than half the student body has some form of scholarship from TU, and quite a few students have full scholarships. Because of the connections TU has, it is easy to get an internship even as a freshman. Some internships pay as much as an entire semester of tuition, making it definitely worth it.

    Greek life makes up a large portion of the student body. The sororities and fraternities are very engaging, not just with each other but also with non-Greek students. The houses have philanthropy events and parties that anyone is welcome to attend.

    TU is in a somewhat dangerous part of town but there are as many campus security guards as students.

    They have many job fairs and they are very active. They will tell you what kind of fields or jobs you can do that deal with your major

    Excellent. They show you a lot of work but the courses are challenging but not failing hard and if you are failing then they will try and help you out.

    The community is great and you can make a lot of friends. The resident halls provide excellent activity and also make sure the freshman or transfers are really settled in.

    The staff is really nice and friendly. The hours are not late and the food is good but has its off days.
    What to do for fun

    You can go out with friends, they provide many on-Campus activities and a shuttle that will take you to shopping places on weekends. Also the student center is fun. Also you can relax on one of the U's.

    They have hurricane thursdays where in the fall there is an events every Thursday and you can get a card hole punched that would give out prizes.

    Don't think that because it's small that it's not as good as some of the other schools out there, or that because some of its programs aren't the number one talked about that they aren't top notch. TU is one of the most amazing colleges in the country.

    the university of tulsa is an extremely diverse campus. many students from all over the world attend here involved in many of the extracurricular clubs available. furthermore, the professors treat each student as an individuals, truly intent on creating the best college graduates possible.

    you need to get involved! tu has a plethora of activities, from gameboard clubs to religious groups. the university even partners with elementary and middle schools in the surrounding neighborhoods for mentoring programs.

    the university of tulsa jumped to spot 75 on the best colleges in the country this year (2011). professors cater to students needs; if the majority of students in a course are suffering, the professors will change the syllabus to the classroom needs.
    Dorm Life

    there are 5 main dorms on campus, including an all girls and an all boys dorm. there are suite style rooms and traditional dorm rooms. also, on campus apartments are available to those who qualify. residents halls frequently plan activities (at least once a weak) that students are encouraged to attend
    Food and Dining

    the cafeteria is open all day, buffet style. also, the student center houses subway, chik-fill-a, a great italian place, the hut (a mini-restaurant) and some coffee shops. dining dollars, which come with your meal plan, are accepted at all.
    What to do for fun

    every thursday, tu hosts an event. these events have included drive-in movies on the u, bowling nights, dances, car smashes, etc. the downtown of the city of tulsa is a mile away, and you can find a large variety of restaurants, museums and clubs.

    Am learning a lot

    The course work for this college sure is dense. You don't doubt if you are getting an education. It certainly isn't a blow off college and can't be treated as one. I am a pre-medical student and was a biology major for the first year and they were serious when they told me that pre-med students don't get a semester or two easy. You jump right into it and hit the ground running. With the smaller class sizes the professors are very encouraging for you to interact with them and talk with them outside of class. It was always rather easy to get a hold of them and almost always go out of their way to help you, but you certainly have to put in the work. In the end, even if you didn't get a 4.0 like high school, you have a sense of achievement and knowledge that I believe some state schools wouldn't of provided.
    Am enjoying being here

    I very much enjoy being at TU because it is so academically respectable and still a ncaa division 1 school. It is so true when they tell you that you can walk across campus and see somebody you know and at the same meet new people. The only downside I find is that since it is a smaller school and academically inclined, school spirit in terms of athletics doesn't always draw the biggest crowd. I just wish some people were more outgoing. The school is great about free tickets to all the athletic events, and it is easy to get involved. I participated in Blue Crew a few times in which I would paint up and run across the football field before games. I also ran the flags once at the baskball games. Plus, I just walked onto the cross country team. All the employees here are so helpful and don't treat you as a number. I really enjoy the fact that the school doesn't have the big issue of cliques. Overall it is a great school but only wish the campus was a little bigger.

    This school is pricey, but advisors do their best to find you a good amount of financial aid. There is a bit to be desired in terms of choices of majors. I would say the academics are definitely worth it, but the draw backs are the cost of housing and meal plans. Which living on campus and meal plans are required for the first two years unless you live within 20 miles of the campus and plan to commute. The school is great, but money can easily become an issue.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you plan to come to TU, don't plan on just breezing by and partying your way through school. It takes some self discipline and time management, but some handle it better than others. Studying is a must. Best advice, learn time management and certainly get your finances in order. Always get to know your professors, it really pays off. Look for text books online, it can really save some money. Check out the majors before you go there because there isn't a huge variety.

    Students who are serious about their education. Not for the all out party goer but greek life sates some of those. Athletes that want to play on a high level get a great education at the same time.

    Am learning a lot

    The University of Tulsa has a wide range of classes to choose from. Of course as with any college you will have to get through a stringent laundry list of required courses for your major (I am sure it'll be useful in the long run) but once you blaze through these, the options are pretty out there. Everything is there from Latin to Ancient China/Japan and all the way over to some open studio arts. The professors always have something to add and definitely act as if they want to teach what their topic is.

    The University is definitely a great place to study, live, you name it. The only thing that keeps TU from getting a full five stars is the cafeteria. Other than that, the classes are great, dorm life is fun to be a part of and there are even apartments on campus.

    A University like TU is great but it has a catch: the cost. The classes and everything on campus are great but the prestigious nature of the college and the division 1 athletics definitely works to rack up the price. But it pays you back, mostly. I may change my mind down the road depending on how much of my education comes in handy.

    - Don't pass up on residence hall living for at least one year. You'll regret it if you do. Living in Fisher South or one of the other residence halls is an experience you won't regret
    - Stop eating at the cafeteria as soon as the option becomes available to you. It's not worth the money when you can make your own food or eat at other places on campus
    Great for these types of students

    TU creates a good blend of academics, athletics and a party atmosphere. It may not sound possible but the University does it quite well. It is a Division 1 school for athletics meaning athletes do get a bit of preference in some things but don't let that make you think academics aren't important. TU is rather prestigious in the area and anyone will respect a TU grad. All the while, there is a large Greek presence on campus which rounds out the campus making it good for anyone.
