Attending my first year at this college, I expected hardcore science classes and programs and that is just what I got. Though the programs are challenging, they're not impossible to pass. Attendance and studying are a must for each and every single class. I've learned so much from all of my teachers, even life lessons that I can use outside of the classroom.

    Am enjoying being here

I love this college. If you love science and love a challenge, then I highly recommend this place. The teachers are delightful and helpful to the max. The rest of the staff is just as friendly, kind, and caring. If there's anything you need, they do everything they can to help you.

    Bang for the buck

The school is on the expensive side, but a place filled with an enthusiastic and wonderful staff is priceless.

    Tips for prospective students

AP classes are a good idea if you're thinking of going here. I didn't take any, however, extra classes such as Probability and Statistics helped in the classes you'd least expect them too.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who wants to be a doctor, especially a pharmacist. This school is in fact the number one school for pharmacy in the United States.

The first semester here is rough, just as in any other college, I'm sure. Getting used to the workload and what's expected of you hits you quickly. I had much difficulty adjusting, but with the friends I made and the support system from my professors, advisor, and friends, I was able to do so much better in the second semester - my GPA improved by 1.037. Learning study skills and learning that it's ok to ask questions made my spring and summer semesters so much better.

USP isn't a bad place to be persay. It's a lovely campus and there is an opportunity to meet great people who are extremely smart and helpful. Everyone you meet is pretty helpful, and the library staff especially help brighten your day.

    Bang for the buck

This school is pretty expensive, since it's a private school, but it's pretty worth it. The skills and knowledge gained at the school can't be compared with most other schools. The professors are well-educated in their fields and can offer great assistance whenever you need it.

    Tips for prospective students

USP is known as the first pharmacy school in North America. It's a pretty small school and allows you the attention you need for your course of study - Pharmacy, especially. It's an accredited school, and though it's hard to getting good grades is pretty demanding, it's not impossible to do so. You'll pretty much enjoy your time here, if you set your mind to it, and manage your time wisely.

Great for these types of students

USP is great for students interested in Pharmacy or Physical Therapy; it offers these types of students the opportunity to obtain Doctorate degrees in these fields. If you want to study something such as Psychology, please save your money and go to a different school.

I am actually learning a lot at USP. It's definitely a school in which the teachers will help you to learn. It's just up to the student to apply themselves.

    Am enjoying being here

I live in the city so life at USP is nothing different besides dorm life. It's okay at USP.

    Bang for the buck

UH, not really. It's expensive for any major. But if you do well then it's worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

Be on top of your game. Don't procrastinate. Study every chance you get.

Great for these types of students

Students who make an effort to excel in school and Science people.

All of the classes at USP are very informative and students learn a lot of information in such a short period of time.

    Am enjoying being here

USP is a great social school. All the students get to know each other since its such a small school. USP is only 15 minutes away from center city, so there are many activities to engage yourself in to keep yourself busy. You never get bored at USP.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition is a great aspect of a college, it is one of the main deciding point which a student considers. USP is very costly and their services are not in accordance to their tuition fee. The dining services can be better for the money USP charges and the dorms also need renovation.

    Tips for prospective students

Students have to be ready for the high work load and cannot slack off even the slightest bit. They have to learn how to manage their time wisely.

Great for these types of students

This school is mainly for pharmacy, PT and OT students. Please do not come here for a Pre-Med major, it is not worth it. Also students with a great Bio and Chem background will succeed in this school.

The opportunity to learn at this university is very intense. As long as you are willing to learn, you will benefit from everything this school does for you including recitation classes for chemistry and more. If science is your forte, then this school is for you. The staff is always willing to help you and the students are all very nice.

    Am enjoying being here

This school is great. If you are looking for something to do there is always something for you in Philly! From visiting University of Penn for frat parties, or club in the city, or perhaps shopping in center city or King of Prussia mall. Everything is available for you as long as you study and get your work done first.

    Bang for the buck

Graduating from this school will result in a job, and a great job at that. If you want to dive into the medical fields, look no where else. Each semester job fairs are held where employers come and look for you! You can get offered a job your freshman year!

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready to study, but make sure you balance fun and studying. As long as you can accomplish this you are in for a treat.

There is too much to learn! This is a school where a normal student take about 20 credits! It is really high speed and almost everyone here is a science major of some sort! The classes here are hard, which is expected of a private school! Definitely challenging!

    Am enjoying being here

It is a very small school, though mostly everyone knows everyone, there is not as many campus activities as a bigger campus school. There are ups and downs to USci!

    Bang for the buck

It is very expensive! Sometimes, students do not know where the funding goes but the education seems to be worth it!

    Tips for prospective students

Relax all summer because when the school year begins, there's no room for relaxing after Freshman year!

Great for these types of students

Asian population, love science, and likes a small school that has less of a city feel to it.

I am learning so much about chemistry and biology. My teachers are encouraging and helpful. The science classes are difficult, but that is want is demanding in attending a health science school.
The math class is pretty simple if you took up to precalculus. The class is just to see if people are prepared for calculus and to get them the math credits.
Writing is a bit of a joke. There is very little point to that class. The school is not a writing school and I have learned little so far about writing.

    Am enjoying being here

For as small as the school is, there is a lot of diversity. We are right in the middle of University City. In Philadelphia, there is so much to do and on the campuses of other schools, there are so many people to meet.
It can be hard to find something to do on campus besides studying. Everyone is always in the books. The campus was not set up for fun, but for hard work.
If you willing to look, you can have a lot of fun here. I have enjoyed meeting so many new people.

    Bang for the buck

This school is ridiculously priced. The dorms and food are crap for what we pay. There always seems to be construction going on, and not necessarily on buildings that are needed. We are getting a Starbucks, which though awesome, isn't necessary. The Starbucks may end up being done before our chemistry labs are finished. Students pay so much money but it can be hard to see where it goes. We need a lot of new science equipment, but we probably aren't getting it.

    Tips for prospective students

Top Ten Tips for Future USciences Students:
    1. If you have AP or other college credit for non-science courses, take it!
    2. Make sure you are coming here for the right reasons. You have to love science, not just the money you will earn when you get out of here.
    3. Study, as much as possible.
    4. Check out the city and other campuses. Our campus may not be that fun, but Philly is an awesome place.
    5. Try to hang out with and get to know your roommate(s) and neighbors. It will be a long couple of years without them.
    6. Study. You’ll need to!
    7. If you aren't Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Pre-Med, you may want to check out other universities.
    8. Don't leave your laundry in the machines.
    9. Have extra cash. You’ll probably want to use CampusFoods.com often to order out.
    10. Don't forget to study!!

Great for these types of students

This school is great if you:
    -are hardworking
-want to be in the health sciences professions
    -love science
    -are studious
-can have fun no matter where you are
-are will to study until your brain hurts
    -aren't squeamish
    -are Pharmacy
-have or can appreciate a morbid sense of humor

At the University of the Sciences the courses are tough but you learn so much from them. Each semester's courses build on the knowledge you obtained from the previous courses, so you never really forget what you have learned. I also find that even the courses that are not specifically aimed for your major are helpful in other aspects of your life, such as the way you view the world.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being at this school for multiple reasons. USP is a small school so you become close with those in your year and other years, your teachers, and the staff! The campus is also beautiful and has a lot of security. This university is also recognized for its academic excellence by prospective employers. The downside is that USP is constantly focused on studying and grades rather then school spirit, so if you want a school that rallies and goes nuts for their sports teams this would not be the school for you.

    Bang for the buck

USP is worth going to if you are serious about your major and want to be well off after you graduate. This school is expensive but the classes teach you and prepare you for a lot and are geared toward your specific major from year one. However, the cafeteria does not have a vast selection, the library is small, and the meal plans can be outrageous in that they do not carry over from semester to semester, so anything left over is money lost out of your pocket.

    Tips for prospective students

A helpful hint I would give to an incoming freshman would be to have fun and make lots of friends. People hear often focus so much on grades that they isolate themselves or stress themselves beyond necessity. However, you still need to remember where you are. The school is hard and requires a conscious effort to get good grades, but you should always make some time to go out, have fun, and relieve some stress!

Great for these types of students

This school is excellent for anyone looking for a career in Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, or any other career involved in the sciences.

The faculty are very supportive and really want you to learn the material. You will have to work very hard to do well. It is a small school with a lot of organizational/leadership opportunities.

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready to work for your degree if you are a pharmD student. The workload here is doable, but be prepared to study--A LOT. It is tough, but rewarding. Also, get involved: whether APhA-ASP, or another pharmacy organization, be sure you are an active member so that you can better build your resume/CV.

    Academic Rigor

For the pharmacy program, the undergraduate years are not impossible. Study and you will do well (3.5/5). The professional years are by far, much more challenging. By the time you get to year five it is a 5/5 academic rigor!

    Dorm Life

There is always something going on. Freshman have the opportunity to take part in many discounted or free events around Philadelphia that the school sets up. There are also other events and programs on campus to keep things interesting.

    Food and Dining

The food is very distasteful if you have any form of refined taste pallet. You'll be grateful when you move off campus for 3rd year and no longer have to purchase the meal plan.

    What to do for fun

First of all, you are in the middle of Philadelphia so what is there not available to do for fun! Think of anything and google it. It'll be somewhere nearby! On campus, there are many professional as well as extracurricular activities which make life fun in addition to just the general fun you will have amongst friends each day!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Don't step on the compass in the center of campus on your way to an exam or you may just fail it. Rub the foot of Abraham Lincoln's foot for good luck before an exam!

Great for these types of students

Students who want to get a seriously great education. Students who are willing to work hard for their degree. Students who want many networking opportunities.

    Clubs and Activities

Professional or campus organizations are available for just about every major. Others are available from dance to choir to volunteer to the school's literary journal (The Elixir).

    Greek Life

I don't know anything about that, other than that there are various ones on campus.

    Campus Safety

There is campus safety which is decent. You can have a walking or driving escort upon request. Seriously, though, remember that you are in a city and you'll be fine--don't do stupid things and you'll be fine.

This is a school dedicated in helping students achieve their goal. The curriculum is hard but will be beneficial in more advance courses as the student move the year. The faculty members are kind and their goal is to help the students of USciences academically and socially.

    Tips for prospective students

If you love science, math, and writing, then this would be the school for you. However, I do recommend you take a tour and ask around because from my experience, most of my peers like the school but some don't.

    Academic Rigor

For the first year, the curriculum isn't hard but you do need to put in the time to study.

    Dorm Life

My experience in the dorm for this school year was average. The rooms were standard size and the bathroom kept mostly clean some of the times. Sometimes the people can be noisy which does affect your study time. However, the dorms are close to the buildings that you will have your classes in and it only takes about 5-10 minutes to get to class.

    Food and Dining

They serve the same food in the dining hall with little variations to choose from. Also the food can be tasteless or overdone but the desserts are good.

    What to do for fun

The school is near the trolley lines so going to the city is quick, easy, and fast. UPenn is also close to the university so you can go shopping or take a stroll in their campus area. The school also offer trips to freshman at a discounted price.

university of the sciences is a great academic institution. its a small private university which allows for more student professor interaction with small class sizes. great place to learn about your prospective career.

    Tips for prospective students

be sure to know that the major you picked is what you really want to do. it is very difficult and requires a lot of effort and dedication to achieve your degree.

    Academic Rigor

    very challenging school

    Dorm Life

because usci is a small school, there isn't a lot of oncampus housing. however what they do have is good. first year students live in dorms and suite style living. second year students have the option to live in 1 of 2 apartment style living building. there is also an honors dorm that allows for 24 hour quietness for the highly dedicated and distracted students.

    Food and Dining

food varies year to year. sometimes it's good, other years its just okay.

    What to do for fun

the school is in philadelphia!! there is plenty of things to do in the city it's just a trolley jump away.

    Bang for the buck

the school is very challenging and you do get your moneys worth.

Great for these types of students

this school is for the types of students who know what they want to do, are very hard working and dedicated to their education.

    Clubs and Activities

there are plenty of clubs and activities to get involved with. since we are a professional school, students have the unique opportunity to be involved in professional organizations that allows them to get out and network and see what their career has to offer.

    Greek Life

it is available and involvement is high, however it is not a focus at this school.

    Campus Safety

the campus itself is safe. we are however located in west philadelphia and with that comes the normal problems with thieves and vandalism.

    Am learning a lot

This school teaches you a lot, however this comes at a price. The classes are very difficult and studying is a necessity. At the end of your time here, you will feel like you know a lot of information in your field of study.

    Am enjoying being here

This school is very academically based. Most students here are very serious about their education and are determined to achieve goals in their desired majors.

    Bang for the buck

This school is on the expensive end, so unless you know exactly which major you wish to pursue, it is easy to lose a semester or two. This can lead to many loans that need to be paid back after graduation.

    Tips for prospective students

If you attend this school, just stay focused on what you wish to accomplish and study hard.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for those students who know what they want to study in the fields of: pharmacy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or physicians assistant. All of these programs offer a 4-6 year accelerated program that may take several more years to complete at another university. The pharmacy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy programs all offer a six year curriculum that earns a doctorate degree.
