Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I LOVE going to school here! The Professors are fantastic! Every class I have had thus far has been taught by highly respected individuals; everyone has at least one Master's and they have all had experience working in their field! The class room sizes are fairly small; the largest I've had contained 25 students. The Professors are easy to talk to and **Remember your name**!!
Am enjoying being here This campus is... unique :) It's made mostly out of concrete, glass and colorful pipes. It's incredibly easy to get around, and there are always some activity going on! If you don't have a date for the weekend, you can always expect to have a a good array of fun, alternative options.
Bang for the buck First of all, this HAS to be one of the least expensive schools in the US! My tuition is usually around $2500 a semester, but that's for 19 credit hours... For 9, it's more like $1200. But think of it this way: Not only are you paying for an instructor, you're paying for a friend, and possibly a future reference/stepping stool into the career of your choice... It's not half bad.
Tips for prospective students I say get in contact with the department you're interested in as soon as possible! Tell them a little about yourself, and what you're looking for in an education, the department counselors are EXTREMELY helpful and willing to work with you on a graduation schedule. And even if you're unsure of what you want to major in, or if you decide to CHANGE your major halfway through, there's no hassle, and they COMPLETELY understand!
Great for these types of students This is a great school, for those students who FEEL unconventional... No matter your work schedule, or how (un)flexible you might be, this school is willing to work for you! There are a VARIETY of degrees available, in fact I would be seriously surprised if you didn't find what you're looking for! It's also a nice environment for LDS students or anyone interested in learning about religions. There's an institute of religion on campus, and the school is very open-minded about what goes on in the community!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My teachers are very helpful with any questions I have on a subject and really make sure that I understand what I am learning.
Am enjoying being here The culture is somewhat different than what I imagined but I like the school and the people I meet.
Bang for the buck The out-of-state tuition is somewhat reasonable for the education that I am receiving
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you at least spend a weekend in Orem and take a look around campus. The area surrounding the school is great and make sure you get the input from students that are of the Mormon religion and not. And see what is right for you.
Great for these types of students Athletes, Mormon religion and people that want a city type school with tons of things to do on the weekends.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have learned so much since I started school at UVU. Part of the reason is because the staff here is amazing! They welcome questions and are always ready to help you if you are having a hard time understanding anything. They're all very accessible and approachable. They also get to know each student individually and remember your names. I have a crazy schedule and miss a lot of school for illness, and I haven't yet had a teacher that hasn't been incredibly flexible and helpful to me.
Am enjoying being here I love it here. It's really cold in the winter, but since I moved here to Orem, I have had so many wonderful experiences and opportunities that I wouldn't otherwise have had. There is so much going on all the time and because there are two universities within 15 minutes of eachother, there are lots of young adults to hang out with. :)
Bang for the buck I ended up having to take a year off to get Utah residency because out of state tuition was so expensive, but after starting school here, I can tell you it was way worth it. I'm a full-time student and my tuition ends up around 2400 after my class and lab fees. And it's worth every dollar. I am learning more than I am paying.
Tips for prospective students Talk to your advisors!!!! They'll help you figure out exactly what classes you should be taking and if you don't know what you want to study, they can help you look at all you different options and decide what classes to take to figure it out. They're very supportive and helpful. Also, take a little bit of everything. Enjoy the different class choices. Regardless of your major, take a dance class or a cooking class or a auto shop class. Try new things! College is a great chance to experience lots of different fields and learn about life. TAKE A PERSONAL FINANCE CLASS!!!
Great for these types of students Students looking for a clean atmosphere with lots of fun things to do on and off campus, without the alcohol and other substances. Students with busy schedules trying to fit classes in between the craziness of life. Parents going back to school. People looking to continue learning with or without pursuing a degree.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am going into Early Childhood Education and the program is amazing. I loved the teachers and what they taught. I have learned a lot. I only wish they had a bachelors.
Am enjoying being here Everyone is different. Everyone is very chill. People know what they want and I really enjoyed spending time there. The library is quite and open. A great place to study. The only bad thing is location.
Bang for the buck College will always be expensive. But overall it was worth the money.
Tips for prospective students If you want to do well in college you have to put 100% into the work.
Don't procrastinate.
There are always going to be fun things to do, always, so put your homework first.
Talk to your teachers. You will hear it a lot but you have to put yourself out there.
Keep a planner and write down all assignments from the syllubus.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Like most schools you can learn as much or as little as you want to. I'm happy that for as much money as I spend on tuition I'm taking away alot of new knowledge.
Am enjoying being here I love the small consolidated campus. Places like BYU or the U that have buildings miles apart are just not for me. UVU is all one giant building which I love. The people are nice and friendly, it's a great environment.
Bang for the buck It's pretty pricey but you're able to say you're graduating from a University instead of a trade school or an online program, which seems to be more impressive.
Tips for prospective students New students don't fall into the trap of starting your day at 10 am. Parking is a nightmare as of 9 am so if you can, try to start your day around 7.
Great for these types of students Everyone.

Great for these types of students Anyone with a desire to learn! I think UVU is especially great for people who want to turn their lives around after goofing off in high school. Since its open enrollment they don't take into consideration your HS transcript.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Just by going on a tour and seeing one classroom I know that I will be learning a lot, it is a teach based school, not research based, so the professors are focused on their students. The classrooms are small which means professors will actually get to know and help their students learn more!
Will enjoy being here Even just the few people that I have met who attend this university were so unbelievably nice and welcoming, everyone has nothing but good things to say about this school and it makes me that much more excited to start attending in the fall!
Bang for the buck Most universities cost above $4,000 a semester, UVU is only around $2,000 a semester, and there are a bunch of cheap on campus restaurants and activities for FREE!! Just the simple fact that I will be attending a university that has multiple masters degree programs for as little money possible is amazing!
Tips for prospective students Apply early, UVU is one of the fastest growing universities in Utah! This means you will be exposed to numerous amounts of people and always have someone to do something with! I highly recommend coming to Utah Valley University, it's cheap, fun, and has a lot of programs, along with professors who actually care about how much their students learn!
Great for these types of students Honestly, UVU has clubs for every type of person, from computer geniuses to dancers to xbox fans! If you are a social person and want a good education, I'd say UVU is the place for you!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Most of the classes i took, i learned a lot from. I loved the teachers i had, and i believe they really wanted the best for their students. They found the most effective way of teaching and had so many ways to help students if they needed it. email, labs, personal attention etc. The education i received was excellent. Except in one elective class in which we did the exact same thing everyday, however this teacher was still willing to help her students, and was a great teacher.
Am enjoying being here There are lots of fun activities that the UVUSA (Utah valley University student association) plans, They are open to ideas from all students, and do a variety for all age groups and personalities. There is a lot of cool clubs and they have an adventure center that helps you find fun things to do all year long. I am one who doesn't always like to mess around, and i believe this is not just a party college but it has exceptional learning, and leadership opportunities. They also have a cool library.
Bang for the buck The education you may receive is great for the average price for tuition etc.
Tips for prospective students Study at least 2 hours for every 1 credit hour you take, sit on the front row in class, answer the teacher's questions- even if your not sure if it is right, they like the input, and they will get to know you better (follow these steps and you should get a 4.0 :) ) and get involved! there is a lot of cool leadership opportunities and fun things to do always.
Great for these types of students Not only is the social life great, but also the learning is quality, and therefore if you want quality education along with a good time, this university is great for you!

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I have many friends attending UVU and they have told me how much they love the school. They say it is a great learning environment. I have been able to go and sit in on a class one of my friends was in just to get a feel for it and what an experience it was! I was able to understand what was being taught and I wasn't even apart of the class. The professors teach in a way that most students would understand.
Will enjoy being here Although the campus seems huge as a soon to be freshman, the learning possibilities are just as big. There are many fun activities and event to be apart of. There is also all the resources need to succeed, including the professors who are willing to help you and are as friendly as can be.
Bang for the buck This is definitely the a great school! You get more than what you pay for. If your living in Utah County this is a school that should be considered. The tuition is cheap and no matter where you live in Utah county it isn't that long of a drive if you wanted to live at home while attending.
Tips for prospective students Go check out the school and meet with the counselors. There is no better way to find out if it is the school for you unless you get to know the school.
Great for these types of students It is a great school for any type of student. Whether it be someone just trying to get generals done or wanting to finish up their schooling. It will fit to you.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences utah valley university is an amazing school that allows me to achieve academic greatness. this school has well rounded, accepting teachers that allow you to voice your opinions and speak your mind. the learning atmosphere allows you to excel and become the best you can be.
Tips for prospective students register early in order to get the classes that you want. be sure to meet with your academic adviser early on and multiple times throughout your student life.
Academic Rigor it all depends on the classes that you take. some professors are more difficult and have greater expectations while others are more easy-going and allow versitility.
Dorm Life there is a lot of drama in the dorms. many people with issues and problems. it is hectic but has a clean atmosphere. relatively free from drugs and crime.
Food and Dining fast food stores such as subway, cafe rio, sushi bar, pizza hut, veggie wraps and other fast food places. for healthier options, the cafeteria on the second floor offers great dining.
What to do for fun activities are planned all throughout the day. you are able to join in with the time you have between classes in art projects, popcorn making, jewelry making, sports discussions, food preparation and other activities.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences utah valley university does an incredible of making their students feel accepted and welcome to attend their school. they also do a superb job of encouraging their students to try new things and are very willing to award scholarships to those who deserve it.
Tips for prospective students attend this school, especially if you are going into education, because their education program is very good.

Dorm Life uvu doesn't have dorms. they just have off-campus apartment housing.
Food and Dining there are several options for fast and easy food. and uvu also has a cafeteria with very cheap food, especially for the amount they give you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus sometimes this school will give out free breakfast in order to encourage students to remember to eat a meal in the mornings.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences uvu has some amazing teachers, good teachers can make or break a class. there are so many opportunities to get involved and so many activities to do. they also have a lot of ways to help students succeed, like free tutoring.
Tips for prospective students talk with advisers to make sure you are on track. i like to check the ratings of the teachers to see what other students experiences are to get an idea about what to expect.
Academic Rigor so far i have not taken any classes that were too difficult, but the classes did teach me a lot.
Food and Dining they have a good amount of options but lines can be really long sometimes.
What to do for fun they have a lot of recreational activities, and recreation classes. they also have dances, and activities like that. there is also clubs which is a good way to do something that you love with people who enjoy the same thing.
Bang for the buck i feel like i am getting a really good education for way cheaper then i would have had to pay at some other larger schools.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus i love the hall of flags its a common area but i think it is really interesting to see all of the different flags.
Great for these types of students it is really good for students who like out door type activities. i think that it is a pretty easy going environment.
Clubs and Activities so many clubs and if they do not have one for you, you can create one.
Campus Safety i have never felt unsafe on campus. use your common sense but i have never had an issue or been scared or felt uncomfortable.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This is a great school with so many different degrees available. They have great professors to help you one on one if needed. It feels more like a home then a school because of the people, professors, and staff.
Tips for prospective students If you are getting into web design a great class to take is Web Essentials with Stuart Heimendal. He has not only taught me a lot but was one of the funnest classes I've taken. If you are getting into costuming through the theater department I recommend taking Costume Construction/Costume Design from Carla Summers because she has over 30 years experience in costuming but she doesn't flash all of her accomplishments to everyone and also sincerely wants every student to understand everything in her class. If you choose Utah Valley don't be afraid to be yourself and learn so much from not only teachers but also other students who will become your friends.
Academic Rigor All of the Departments I have been in so far have all been amazing and want nothing but for their students to succeed. All of my professors have offered one on one help if ever needed and make sure I understand everything. I have been in the Theatre Department, Computer Science/Digital Media Department, along with an English class that was amazing.
Dorm Life I've never lived in the dorms myself because I'm married and live in an apartment with my family. But from what my sister's boyfriend says they are very nice and decent prices.
Food and Dining There are a lot of local restraunts that give great student discounts which is bettween 10-15% off regular price. There is also a Wolverine Card that you can purchase that gives many more discounts which is only $15.
What to do for fun There are a lot of fun centers throughout Utah County. One place I love to go is Provo Beach Center because there are great activities for not only families but college students as well. They have bowling, pool, rock climbing, a wave that you can ride, etc. There are other places like that throughout Utah County and not far away from Utah County such as Boondocks and swim parks such as 7 Peaks, Scera, etc. There is also bars in Utah County for those who like to party such as The Madison and clubs all throughout Salt Lake City.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I started early with UVU. I did Concurrent Enrollment. This gave me the opportunity to get high school credits while I was in high school. I loved this for two reasons. One, I was saving a lot of money because I was taking the course in high school. Two, I was saving time for later in my life. That is the beauty, I was doing two things at one time...credits for high school and credits for college.
Am enjoying being here I personally haven't been on campus yet. I am just about to go this upcoming monday. But my older sisters have both been to UVU and they love being a student there. I am really excited to be a part of UVU.
Bang for the buck As I mentioned, I did Concurrent Enrollment. I seriously would advise every high school student to take advantage of this opportunity. There is only a small fee to take college courses in high school. For example, In high school you would pay about $120 for 4 college courses, whereas in college, you will pay around $2,500 (books included). That is such a big difference! I really did get all my money's worth of schooling when I did Concurrent Enrollment.
Tips for prospective students My first tip is to know what you want to do before you enroll in any classes. School can be expensive and if you are not needing to take a course, why spend all that extra money on it? Second, make your schedule reasonable. Don't ever over-load yourself. I would suggest taking 2 (3 at the most) harder classes. Third, do not procrastinate in your studying. You will find that school and life will be much happier and full of light.
Great for these types of students Anyone can take advantage of starting college early. And UVU has a wonderful way of doing this by using Concurrent Enrollment. Every student in any major can do this. What is so wonderful is most the the Concurrent Enrollment classes are courses that are needed to be taken in generals for college. Get on it students and start early!

Bang for the buck Your tuition includes free tutoring at the math and English labs. great deal for a bus pass to use when ever you want.
Tips for prospective students When first starting take only 2-3 classes to see how things work then add more the second semester.

Am enjoying being here There are so many activities around campus that makes you feel like you're more apart of the school like dances, games, movie nights, etc.
Bang for the buck I have looked around at the tuition for other colleges and was astounded by how much they were, and looking at Utah Valley University it didn't seem so scary.
Tips for prospective students Talk with your teachers if you aren't getting anything they are saying, they are more than willing to sit with you and explain anything. Also go to all the labs (Math, Writing, and Science) they are so beneficial if you struggle in those areas.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have taken quite a few classes at UVU. Almost every one of my classes have been well worth the time I have put into them. In other words, i don't feel that I have wasted time and money.
Am enjoying being here UVU is in a great location with all different types of people. In every class that I have taken I have been able to find people that I get along with. This really helps your college experience.
Bang for the buck College is EXPENSIVE! Its a harsh reality to face, but if you want to succeed in life, then college is a necessary step. UVU is not extremely pricey and the education is excellent with excellent teachers as well.
Tips for prospective students Sign up for classes as early as possible! They fill up really fast. You don't want to worry about doing waitlist's and chancing not getting into a class. Also, always check ratemyprofessors.com to look at professor reviews. I have always done this, and it really helps when choosing which professors to take from.
Great for these types of students I believe that this school is great for all types of students. I have found that it is very dynamic, and anybody can find their place at UVU.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The learning level at this school oftentimes depends on what you are studying. Courses in a specific major will have much greater of an impact than general education courses. Most of the general education courses are particularly easy. Many of the teachers are not very good at how they teach, but there is a good amount who do.
Am enjoying being here Utah Valley is a great school and they try to provide many activities for student involvement. It is a great school to start out at and transition from high school to college. Socially; however, meeting people can be difficult. There are many cliques already established among the students.
Bang for the buck Academically and socially, Utah Valley University is much too expensive. Each year, it grows more expense. It is comparable to a larger version of a high school. Many professors are not as well qualified as expected from a college.
Tips for prospective students Utah Valley is a great school for your first year. There is a high variety of courses and a lot of opportunity for achievement. The counselors are great with working with students. They are always there to help you in figuring how out how to be successful.
Great for these types of students Students who want a close-to-home environment would love UVU. It is great for those who need to figure out what to do for their majors and career. Also, it is a great place for LDS students.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Think is a great school and the professors really know the material they are teaching, so that's really helpful. There are also resources the students have for extra help to learn the material they may be having difficulties with.
Am enjoying being here All the events are really fun and the school in general is a great environment for learning.
Bang for the buck Tuition is not that bad and they also have payment options so that has been very helpful.
Tips for prospective students Go to class, take good notes and be involved. It is as easy or hard as you make it. If you don't go to class then you will miss out on a lot of stuff and it will be hard to catch up. But if you go and take good notes then you should be good.
