    Am learning a lot

Valencia is an awesome college. I can learn well in the environment they have created. Their environment is friendly and fun. The teachers are experienced and are eager to impart their knowledge. If I have any problems, they have tutors and workshops and an answer center. They help me learn the things I need to know.

    Am enjoying being here

I was scared about college before I started going to Valencia. However, now I know that Valencia will help me with anything I'm having problems with, and they will do it in a manner that makes my education fun and profitable. Valencia is a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment.

    Bang for the buck

I can learn so much at Valencia, and it doesn't cost that much. I have friends who complain about prices at other colleges, but thanks to Valencia's fantastic prices, I can afford to go to college. In fact, I plan on taking as many required classes as I can at Valencia because they're so inexpensive.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to check your emails. You could miss out on something if you don't.
Meet with an adviser before you sign up for classes. Then you won't be taking classes that you already had credit for or that are too hard and unnecessary for your degree. I speak from personal experience!
Don't be afraid of asking questions. Everyone is friendly and very helpful.
Try to figure out ahead of time what college you're going to after Valencia. Then the advisers can help you more with what classes you should take.

Great for these types of students

Valencia is a great school for anyone. My sister goes there, and she is almost forty years old! Other students are younger and enjoy their experience. Some teenagers come to Valencia to socialize even though they're not even students! Valencia is that fun. All ages and all types are welcome at Valencia.

    Will learn a lot

If you apply yourself, you will learn alot at Valencia Community College. You select the courses geared towards your area of study, which means you are not wasting time just taking filler classes that you don't need.

    Will enjoy being here

Because Valencia is in a very popular area, you will enjoy not only the school, but the area. Most student housing in the area provide enjoyable downtime activities related to the college experience. Since Valencia is linked academically with UCF, you are exposed to their activities as well.

    Bang for the buck

The cost of community college is what I like best. My family was unable to send me to university to start out so when we checked into starting out at Valencia we were sold. In state residents get a great tuition rate and the housing in the area is very reasonable.

    Tips for prospective students

Choosing to further your education is the best decision you can make. Starting at Valencia then transitioning into UCF is a not only wise move, but more economical. Do your research and visit the campus and you will agree that Valencia Community College is a great school.

Great for these types of students

Valencia is a great choice for those who want to go full time or those wanting to choose less credits per semester. Valencia allows you to work or tend to your family life while taking classes that will lead to your career goals. You choose the path and the pace. I strongly recommend Valencia Community College as the place to further your education!

Valencia is a great place to start. First off many of the classes that are offered in Universities are offered here for a munch cheaper price. The classes are small and usually consist of 30-50 students (some less and some more). There is so much help every where. The library is great and has many computers. It even has Mac's for those who like Apple better. There is an answer center that has friendly workers that will answer all your questions. Their advisers are excellent. They will guide you in the right direction and tell you exactly what you need to graduate not just from valencia but from any college of your desire. For each department there is a tutoring center. They have students/teachers that will proof-read your work or help you and no you do not need to be in that teachers class. The financial aid office is great. They will not only tell you if you qualify for financial aid but they will find all the possible awards/scholarships that fit the person best. The professor are great, almost 97% of them answer your emails within the same day and know you by your name and your participation.

    Am enjoying being here

I am enjoying being here because it is a great community college. Everything is peaceful and easy to get to. The campus is not extremely large and the Cafe has great coffee.

    Bang for the buck

The classes are much cheaper than Universities but are the same courses. This is the best choice.

Great for these types of students

Any type of student will be great here. Valencia community college offers night courses, morning, afternoon, online, Saturday classes and a testing center. It fits in great with all types of students that work or have any difficulties.

Here at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida the classroom sizes are farely small allowing the teachers to have more one on one time with the students which id great if your having trouble understanding something in the class. There are also tutoring centers that can help out a lot if needing some extra help.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy VCC because not only the small class size and the individual attention I can get with my professors. But I also enjoy the class selection. They have so many classes to chose from it is like being a kid in a candy store. Another reason I love VCC so much is the location in Orlando. IF your at the East Campus your just minutes away from UCF Campus and all the activities they have there. And Orlando's Tourist District is just a short car ride away as well for entertainment and fun.

    Bang for the buck

As far as price VCC is awesome. Being it's a community college its cheaper than a University such as UCF but the price is great. And they give you a lot of free stuff as well like your parking pass and student identification card. Getting financial aid is easy also they'll help you every step of the way.

    Tips for prospective students

COme early to find parking. Don't be afraid to meet new people thats what callege is all about. People in the Orlando area are nice and for the most part all love meeting new people.

Great for these types of students

VCC's East Campus is great for art students becasue they have a big arts program.

    Am learning a lot

My professors are great and very helpful. When ever I don't understand something I can go to them and know that they'll help me. The classes here are small, thirty students tops, so you get a more personal learning experience.

    Am enjoying being here

I really do enjoy being at Valencia. The atmosphere here is great, whether I need to study for a test or I just want to hang out. Everyone is just doing there own thing.

    Bang for the buck

Classes here a cheaper than you would see then if you went to maybe a four-year college. So you would save a lot and even if you have a scholarship.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay focused, don't procrastinate and be responsible. This is not high school, although your teachers will help you, you have to be responsible of your own work. Other than that relax and try to enjoy it.

Great for these types of students

If you feel nervous or maybe even a little scared of going to college a community college is great choice to look at. Their classes are small which resemble a lot to high school. So the transition isn't that overwhelming. And if you plan on transferring to a four-year college it will sure make the transition easier because you would have already gotten a feel of college life.

    Am learning a lot

A high school graduate will most defiantly learn a lot at Valencia Community College. The faculty and staff here are will and able to answer any questions that you might have, and if they can't answer them the faculty will point you in the right direction to your answer.

    Am enjoying being here

Valencia Community College is a great school to attend because it is small yet spacious. The reason being is that there are eight buildings that are close together, but the buildings them selves are huge There is a lot of campus/student involvement from the SGA and clubs at Valencia. The library that Valencia east campus has is delightful because there are dozens of computers to log on to finish school work or to surf the web.

    Bang for the buck

I have taken 18 credit hours for the last two semesters here at Valencia and let me tell you it is totally worth it to go to Valencia Community College in the aspect of price. If I were to go to a four year school and take 18 credit hours, their price would not even come close to great price that Valencia charges.

    Tips for prospective students

Bottom line is that Valencia Community College is a commuter school. Meaning that you get your degree and you get out and go to a four year school or you have your A.S. degree. The price that Valencia charges is so worth coming here because of how frugal you will be spending your money. I am the Chairman of one of the many clubs here on campus and there is so many different things to do here and so many different classes to take that every day at Valencia will seem like a brand new day.

    Am learning a lot

All of my current teachers have plenty of experience in their subjects -whether their time was spent in the books or working in their field. They are able to give additional background information other than what is provided by the textbooks and they are good resources for whatever questions you may have pertaining to their field.

    Am enjoying being here

As a community college, it's not a party school. But as a first year student from the area, I see plenty of my high school classmates. Not having to start over with friendships and networking makes college life a lot easier. I know that if necessary, I can speak to my teachers on a personal level because they have personalities and lives outside of the classroom.

    Bang for the buck

College will always be expense-filled, but attending VCC is definitely the choice for those on a strict budget. Many of the classes here line up with the courses offered at universities for several times the amount charged at Valencia. Many people avoid the idea of attending a community college because they want to jump right into the 4-year university experience. There's a generally negative opinion of attending community colleges; that it's for those with low grades or that it's just not the cool thing to do. It may not be the coolest thing to do, but it definitely is the smartest thing to do for your wallet if you like to think long term.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to reach out to your classmates and make yourself known. Because all of the students are commuters, I find that the students aren't as social or connected and have their own separate lives or agendas. It's very easy to complete a semester course and not know any of your classmates' names. Make eye contact with your professors. You never know who you may need a favor from (ex. recommendations.)

Great for these types of students

This school is great for those that are able to commute independently, need flexible hours and enjoy smaller class sizes.

In high school I wasn't someone who enjoyed the required english, math, and social science classes but at valencia I have learned a great deal from the courses I have taken. I enjoyed and have taken so much from each course that will benefit me later in my college career and life.

    Am enjoying being here

The environment was intimating at first but after my first term at Valencia, I feel right at home. The student government and other school events really add to the college experience and the friends I have made are wonderful.

    Bang for the buck

I currently have a scholarship that covers tuition and the cost of my courses but I still need help with purchasing my books, and I have learned of several scholarships that valencia has to offer and I have been awarded one.

    Tips for prospective students

Research scholarships online and Valencia also provides a list of scholarships on their website before turning to student loans to pay for you education.

Valencia College is, what I like to say, Very user friendly. The classes are small and you get a lot more one on one education. There are many locations that make it very convenient for students who live in every vicinity of Orlando.

    Tips for prospective students

Sign up early for your classes. They fill up fast.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are small and teachers have a more one on one opportunity so it makes it easier to understand the material. Tougher classes are going to be tougher no matter what college you attend. But Valencia offers free tutors for every subject you need help in.

    Dorm Life

    no dorms

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria is great and the food is pretty good also. My favorite is the coffee shop where they have healthy snacks and smoothies. On occasion they often give free food away to students to fill out surveys or vote for student council.

    What to do for fun

They offer nights to come play volleyball and basketball and offer a gym to students for $30 a year!! Can't beat that!

    Bang for the buck

Valencia is $99 a credit hour so they are way more affordable then universities and they offer so many of the same classes.

The professors are well educated, helpful, and respectful. Valencia having a direct connect to the University of Central Florida makes it easier for students to transfer, which lifts a great weight off of their shoulders. The counselors are very helpful with helping build an educational plan for students.

    Tips for prospective students

Be organized and serious about getting an education. Keep all the syllabuses from your courses just in case any issues arise. Take advantage of being in small classes by asking questions and getting more help!

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms on campus or student housing.

    Food and Dining

    Food varies by campus.

    What to do for fun

Valencia provides wi-fi so you can bring your laptop anywhere on campus and surf the web. The school also has a student lounge to get together with friends. Lastly, there is always a lot of activities going on for students like the blood drive, booths for universities, celebrating cultures, and more!

Great for these types of students

Valencia is great for anyone that wants to experience other cultures.

    Campus Safety

Valencia provides an e-mail or text alert if there is severe weather or unusual activity on campus. It lets the students know that there is something going on and whether to get to class at a later time or stay away from the campus

Valencia is the perfect place for accomplishing goals and becoming successful. This school has helped me transition from high school to college and live a more adult structured lifestyle. I feel Valencia has also helped me jump start my future.

    Tips for prospective students

Study, study, study. Always be punctual for each and every class. Never taken education for granted it is the one thing no one can ever take away from you.

    Academic Rigor

Very strict. All teachers, and professors keep us focused on getting our education, and communicate with us very well their expectations of us.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is what you make of it, I enjoy it for my personal time to sit aside either finish homework assignments or vision future career plans. The campus has plenty of places to seek any information you need from resources in the library to the answer center.

    Food and Dining

I love the array of food choices. It works perfectly having class 3 days a week and being able to have a panini one day, chicken fingers and fries, the next, and even cheese danishes for a morning snack. I enjoy leaving from my morning class knowing I can look forward to an enjoyable lunch.

    What to do for fun

Valencia has plenty of opportunities and events that allow the student body to have fun and even help out the community. There are picnics, live bands, and fund raisers for causes such as breast cancer to cleft lips. I even had the chance to participate in a fundraiser to help victims of trafficking in April of 2011.

    Bang for the buck

I agree I am given the education and the knowledge equivalent to the dollar amount that I spent on my past courses, because with the motivation and drive to want to be successful I have noticed and big increase on where my life is headed just from attending this college. I went from working and a fast food shop to landing a job at an insurance company something I would have never been exposed to if I was not so active at my school.

Valencia is one of top community colleges in the nation. Various campuses are in the surrounding areas, so you always have close access. You will feel a sense of pride attending this school as much as you would for a 4-year university.

    Tips for prospective students

Take advantage of all the multiple opportunities and paths that Valencia has implemented to help you succeed. Inform yourself and seek out advisers to learn about direct connect to UCF, Life Map and other amazing programs that make your school life easier.

    Academic Rigor

They are all very motivated to help students succeed and move on. Don't be shy to ask questions and keep in contact with them!

    Dorm Life

These campuses do not have a dorm life, it is a community college.

Valencia Community College has made going back to school an enjoyable experience. The teachers and staff have been beyond helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The class sizes are smaller which allows for you, the student, more one-on-one time with your professor!

    Tips for prospective students

It is important to be focused and dedicated to completing your goal graduation date and major! Remember that it is your time and your money at the end of the day so if going back to school isn't something you are 100% committed to then it's not going to be an enjoyable experience!

    Academic Rigor

It depends on how you define rigor. I hear rigor and have both positive and negative associations. Negative being inflexible, non-patient, and less open-minded professors and syllabus schedules...and I don't find Valencia to be that at all. Positive being that professors are true to their expectations, not too lenient, and expect each student to follow through with their work. I also believe all schools take a certain amount of commitment and effort! All of which may seem rigorous to one person but not the next.

    Food and Dining

Although there is limited dining on campus (Winter Park specifically) they do have a cafeteria area with vending machines, coffee, fruit, and snacks in the book store, and is surrounded by restaurants in the Winter Park area.

    What to do for fun

Although I am not able to participate at the time, I do notice various plays, activities, and clubs available to students who are able and interested! My schedule makes it a bit tough to participate.

    Bang for the buck

I have found the professors to be patient, knowledgeable, and passionate! Through the five locations Valencia now offers, it seems to be most convenient as well. I personally find the online classes to be extremely helpful for those who are wanting to balance their home and work life, too.

Great for these types of students

Self motivated, organized, dedicated, open-minded, multitasking.

    Clubs and Activities

I am actually not too involved in this area as I am a full time student juggling a full time job as well. However, I do see a lot of emails dedicated to various clubs and activities.

Lets be honest, most of the negative feedback we all hear from colleges is from students that got themselves in the mess they are in or clearly disappointed that their college has guidelines and rules to follow. My college is on top of new regulations and protocols to follow just as any other institution. As well they their staff is willing to dedicate their time and knowledge to assist you.

    Tips for prospective students

My advice to fellow students either debating to attend Valencia College or already applied yet skeptical due to references and certain comments made to them regarding the school is simple. Stop being a follower and listener and just experience it for yourself! Just remember not just in Valencia but anywhere you go you will find people, scenarios and things you do not like but Valencia in my opinion is a great place to start if you are either out of high school or past your 40's.

    What to do for fun

Quite frankly, I am a full time student, full time single mother, full time worker, and I take care of my mentally ill father so I technically have no adult fun. Once in a blue, I'll go to a dance class, movies or bowling nothing too crazy I'm over the club scene.

Valencia Community College is worth every penny. There a lot of assisants that help and tutoring class that are free. The books and classes are cheap and the professor are awesome. In fact, one professor had about 6 full class of student pass his course. Where did you see that in other colleges.

At Valencia I have had some really inspirational teachers. You can find the teachers that will push you and motivate you as hard as any teacher at a 4-year college.

    Am enjoying being here

I work a lot and have a great deal of responsibilities outside of school, so I do not spend much other time at school besides going to classes. My time in class though is very rewarding. The teachers are serious, most of the students are too, and the campus is great and easy to familiarize yourself in.

    Bang for the buck

Absolutely. Here at Valencia you can get a first rate education for a very affordable price. I am a part-time worker, I live alone and pay 100% of my own expenses. I work hard to be able to pay for tuition and books, and it is worth every penny. I can afford to be a full-time student, without burying myself into a hole of debt.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't think that because Valencia is a community college that you won't get an education here. It is one of the best in the country and I can say going here before transferring to a state university is the best decision I have made!

Great for these types of students

Students with jobs, students who pay for their own expenses, students who cannot attend during regular hours, students who want to take online classes

Just make sure you sign up early, get prepared, choose your professors wisely, and stay focused.

I started my college life at Valencia. I think Valencia is a great place to start. I have learned a lot along my way in Valencia. I have gained confidence, experience, great knowledge, and met great people that work for Valencia. Professors are very respectful and great at the subjects. They are full of valuable knowledge and I learned from them as much as possible.

In college, I am an honors student; therefore I am in Honors Society which is nationally and internationally known as Phi Theta Kappa (PTK). I have always loved to be an Honors student since high school and I would like to continue to be one. Therefore, my future goal is to be an Honors student at my university. I am actively involved in PTK and with that I also volunteer with Valencia Volunteers to help on campus and off campus for community. It makes me feel good when I put some of my time for others.

    Am learning a lot

I am learning a lot here. The professors I picked are wonderful and do everything in their power to make sure the students learn more and are open to learning new things. In example, in my college algebra class if I have a question they're always willing to help me. If I'm not sure of how to do a problem, they will show me, but they won't show me just one way, they will show me TWO and that is very convenient because you get to pick which one works best for you.

    Am enjoying being here

I do enjoy being here, but keep in mind, there are a lot of students here that aren't really looking to learn. They're looking for that high school experience again and it can get quite distracting, as well as on your nerves. Just stay focused and you will be fine!

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students, if this is the college that you are looking to go to, I highly recommend it. It is not only cheaper to start off here than to dive straight into a university, but the teachers here actually want you to learn and you can always change your major at any point. Or, you can just go here for your associate in arts and change your mind later on. The great thing is that you don't have to have a major at a community college. Your major can just be general education. Good luck!

Great for these types of students

Great for people who have financial issues, want to stay living at home for a while, and people who just want a community college experience.

    Did learn a lot

What I really learned a lot about was getting involved with other students, I recently got back from a study abroad in Denmark and i felt more connected with others as well as the class itself. Even though there was classwork involved, it was worth every dime! Also the college has several scholarships so don't forget to apply!

    Did enjoy being here

I wish i got involved a little sooner with SGA, or any other groups. Reaching out with others helps not only with socializing but helps get better grades too!

    Bang for the buck

Along with having financial aid, bright futures, and Florida Pre-Paid. I got money back to go to school! Many of their activities are free and they have Matador Day which is a get-to-know your school kind of thing and you win free prizes, get free food, and even some school supplies.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to check with your teachers to know what is due when!

This school is awesome for people who want to be in the musical field. The atmosphere is chill and laid back. I don't get a sense of pushiness and stressed rude campus students. I've learned a great deal in all of my classes, without being overwhelmed with the transition from high school to college, and I think that is the greatest thing about Valencia. All of the professors are very interested in the students and how well they are understanding, which is great. If I ever need help, I know that I can email and call anytime, or visit my Professor during office hours. They actually care about your education!

    Am enjoying being here

I really enjoy going to this school because there are so many options, and I've made alot of friends. Each campus of this school that I have been to (3 different camuses) are very clean and welcoming. It's easy to find my way around, and there are so many resources to help with classes.

    Bang for the buck

For how great this college is, i'm surprised by how little it costs! With the grants and scholarships I've recieved, I haven't had to pay anything for my classes, besides a few books, which is pretty amazing!

    Tips for prospective students

The greates tip I can give, is if you need to have questions answered, go to any campus and go straight to the Answer Center...but don't go 12pm or later! The lines get crazy long. I have seriously waited for hours. So just make sure you go a little earlier. Also, make sure to sign up for classes during your slot that way you get the best ones!

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students who like the ability to go to any campus, take online classes or onsite campus, and for those who live variety in their classes. Valencia offers SO many different courses, programs and degrees, and even have at least one four year degree now. It's perfect for students who fear that the transition to a university is not for them.
