Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot WVU is a big school; however, I have not met a professor who is not willing to help students outside of class. Even though there can be classrooms filled with 200 students at a time, it is very easy to get to know the professor and to work with them one-on-one to really understand the material. As long as the student is willing to work, the professor will work with them. Along with professors being a very useful resource, there are other options on campus such as tutors, study groups, and teacher assistants.
Am enjoying being here WVU is located in Morgantown, WV. Any student will tell you that they love Morgantown. The atmosphere as a student there is the best to be in because WVU is full of students with a lot of school-spirit.
Tips for prospective students As a first year student, you do not need a car. Morgantown is a terrible place when it comes to parking. Luckily, everything on the downtown campus is easy to walk to. To get to classes on the other campuses we have the PRT and a bus system. To get to a class on the Evansdale campus, or Engineering Campus, my advice would be to use the bus system because it is much faster then the PRT. The PRT is best to use when going to the Medical Center or the football field, but I think should be avoided as much as possible because it is old and breaks down a lot. Also, if it is possible to live downtown the first year, that would be the best decision. There is a lot more to do on the downtown campus. My suggestion for dorms on the downtown campus would be Summit Hall, The Honors Dorm, or Boreman South.
Great for these types of students This is a great place for those who want to get involved on campus, whether it be to join Greek life, clubs, or sports. Also, WVU students and alumni love football. Any student who wants to go to a big football school, and recently a big basketball school, WVU would be a good choice. Also, there are many great schools for those who know what they would like to major in. For instance, we have a great Medical school, Law school, Journalism school, Business school, and many more to choose from. WVU would also be great for students who are unsure what they want to major because there are so many options and many beginning level classes offered for those to make the right decision.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm part of the Honors College, so my classes are pretty tough. However, most of the professors are very nice and helpful. Classes are informative and interesting.
Am enjoying being here Morgantown is a great location. You get a great mix of seasons and the campus is absolutely beautiful. The people are friendly and there's always something fun to do on or off campus.
Bang for the buck As an out of state student, WVU is expensive, but I feel that I am getting what I paid for as far as classes because I'm learning a lot.
Tips for prospective students Before going to WVU be prepared to walk... a lot. Morgantown is very hilly and there are plenty of stairs. There's also not much parking so even if you end up bringing a car, you'll still find yourself on foot most of the time.
Great for these types of students WVU is great for students who want to learn a lot and also have fun doing it. I can assure you that at West Virginia University you will never be bored. There are so many clubs and athletic activities to become involved in.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a freshman student at WVU I quickly learned how to advocate for myself. Academic advisors were seemingly invisible during my first few weeks making the transition from high school to college scheduling very stressful and even tearful. With that behind me I now have obtained a confidence, a voice to advocate for myself. WVU is a large university and offers so many great opportunities to its students. You just have to go learn quickly how to step up and take advantage of them. I have learned that multiple women can share one bathroom without killing each other. I have learned that college food is not as bad as I had anticipated, the recreation center is a great place to play, chocolate fixes a bad day, and that my new network of friends makes homesickness bearable. Most importantly, halfway through my first semester of my freshman year I have learned I can do it.
Am enjoying being here I am enjoying being a WV Mountaineer! There are not many other places in the world where you can don the blue and gold, paint your face, and feel the mountaineer excitement clear to your toes. I get to experience this with every football game, every soccer match, every basketball game and even with recreational activities from sports to cookie eating to pie throwing or hula hooping. It’s crazy like that! It’s a pride like I have never experienced, being part of a tradition and a family that’s larger than life.
Bang for the buck The biggest bang for your buck lies in the college itself. I applied and was accepted into six colleges, three out-of-state and three in-state schools. I carefully weighed the cost of the education along with the quality of education into my deciding factor. For me WVU was the biggest bang for my buck. I should graduate with my chemistry major in four years with less than ten thousand in total debt, allowing me to transition into medical school prepared and not financially broken. With that said I am also a big fan of the student favorite DP Dough Pizza shop in downtown Morgantown. They are cheap with serving sizes that feed a small army.
Tips for prospective students Learn from my mistakes! I did not decide on WVU until late, as a matter of fact I was set on attending West Virginia Wesleyan College until financial aid fell through I had to re-evaluate my situation. In July I transitioned to WVU. My advice is to apply early and commit early. This will allow you the greatest opportunity to capitalize on all WVU has to offer. Believe me, being the last to schedule and waiting for them to make a room for you is no fun. You will end up with 8am classes and classes at 9pm, you will live in Evansdale and have all your classes downtown. It’s been a hectic first semester, one that you can avoid by committing early.
Great for these types of students Wow, with a campus like WVU it is great for any type of student. Seriously, any stereotype, any click from the athlete to the nerd, from the music major to the chemistry loving geek, from country to hard rock, white, black and every color in between you will fit in at WVU. The diversity here is amazing. I frequently spend my lunch just people watching and enjoying all the variety WVU has to offer. I myself have been challenged to look beyond who I am and reinvent who I will become. At am a musician, playing in the orchestra, a nerd in the honors program, an athlete running and attending spinning classes daily, a teacher working with students at a local school, a mentor for teenagers at the rec center, a room mate and friend to several girls from all over the country. WVU is great for all types of students!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Even though WVU has been labeled a party school, I still find the classes to be quite challenging. I graduated from high school as an honors student, so I've never had trouble with classes until coming to college. Even though classes are challenging, there are always study groups around campus to help you with your classes. The professors are usually flexible when it comes to helping you out. I haven't found a teacher yet that wasn't willing to help me in a class.
Am enjoying being here WVU has so much to offer the students. All sporting events are free and a lot of fun. WVU also offers a program called Up All Night on the weekends. They have free movies, food, and different events every night. The dorms go on lots of trips to different places. Recently they went to Fright Farm and Falling Water for free. They also take trips to Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and New York City for a small cost.
Bang for the buck I am paying in state tuition here, plus I received the WV PROMISE scholarship which took care of most of my tuition. Now, I'm just paying for room and board, books, and other fees. Considering everything campus offers for free, the price isn't that bad.
Tips for prospective students When coming to campus, be sure to meet new people. I encourage everyone to live with somebody they don't know. Take advantage of the roommate match and find somebody compatible with you. Find a dorm that meets your needs and try all the dining places around campus. Honestly, some places have better food than others. Take the bus as much as possible, especially if you live on Evansdale. However, the PRT is becoming slightly more reliable. Last but not least, explore the Rec Center. It always makes me feel better if i'm feeling down.
Great for these types of students WVU is great for outgoing students that are ready to meet a ton of new people. WVU has students from everywhere. There is a group here for everyone, you just have to search and find who you're looking for.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Most people consider WVU a 'party school,' but once you attend your first class you will find that it is not all play here on campus. The classes challenge you and all of the teachers here are very interesting.
Am enjoying being here I love it here at WVU! There are so many different things to do. The Greek system here is a ton of fun and I would encourage any incoming freshman to consider joining. Although it is very cold here in the winter, you can always find something fun to do!
Bang for the buck For students from WVU, it is very affordable and many scholarships are available. For out of state students it is a bit more expensive, but still inexpensive compared to other out of state schools.
Tips for prospective students If you choose to come to WVU, make sure you are very good at managing your time. Bring lots of warm clothes with you because it snows a lot! You should also try new things, and meet as many new people as you can.
Great for these types of students WVU is a great option for students who want to succeed and find the knowledge that they need to pursue the career that they want.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot WVU has a lot to offer. It has a reputation as a big party school, but most of the people are here to get their Study On.
The professors are very helpful and want to see their student succeed and there is free tutoring provided throughout the University. There is a great support system, but you do have to do your part! Go to class, keep up with your reading, and study. The parties will always be there for you to celebrate after you call home and say you made Dean's List!Am enjoying being here There is definitely a time and a place for everything!
And there is plenty of time after you study to enjoy Morgantown!
WVU football games are so exciting, it is hard to describe. I don't think there is another university in the United States that has dedicated fans like West Virginia University Football Fans
When it comes to parties, there are great under 21 clubs that play good dance music and serve non-alcoholic beverages to provide to a mature atmosphere without the concerns of underage drinking.Bang for the buck Even for out of state students, WVU has one of the lowest tuition rates, yet offers high quality, state of the art educational experiences for the scholars that attend. WVU also provides a wide variety of majors to choose from in its baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees.
Tips for prospective students Do not bring your car! There isn't anyplace to park.
Great for these types of students Well rounded, self motivated, driven, gregarious,

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Some of the classes are huge your freshman year and it is very hard for the professor to focus on your type of learning, so you have to adjust to their style of teaching. If you want to learn though, they WILL help. You just have to make the effort and go to office hours.
Am enjoying being here Aside from my old roommate that I lived with for 3 months, it is absolutely wonderful here. The atmosphere is good. It does get cold though. And the good parties are an added bonus.
Tips for prospective students 1. Choose your roommate carefully. Try to work things out, if not switch rooms or dorms.
2. If you are late, blame the PRT. (:
3. Ride the bus.
4. Tour here first.
5. Bring winter clothes. (:
6. Live downtown. Summit, Honors, and Boreman South are the best.
6. Enjoy!!Great for these types of students People who like to party (great Greek life), people who want a good education, people who want a big town feel in a small town, people who want a school big on sports and have an amazing band. Everyone can find their place here. (:

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My freshman year, I learned more than I thought I would. The program I am in at WVU is highly recognized, and the professors here are great.
Am enjoying being here Morgantown, is a great place. WVU is a school where you get a great college experience. Everything from greek life to sports. Its a great place.
Bang for the buck Being an out of state resident, WVU is one of the best universities to get a great education without spending 50 grand a year. I choose WVU for that reason. I wanted to go out of state and WVU was a reasonable pricing.
Tips for prospective students Dont get distracted by all the freedom you have at college. WVU does have a reputation but its a great education system.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences west virginia university offers an amazing experience that is second to none. not only are there very competitive programs on campus, but the mountaineers have become a staple in the world of college athletics. excitement looms in the classroom and at every sporting event!
Tips for prospective students plan ahead and try to visit campus before you enroll. there are many great locations to live, but they go pretty quickly.
Academic Rigor some of the programs here are top notch. exercise physiology and rural medicine are both top 10 programs in the country. we also have a very competitive athletic training program. many professional teams and other division 1 colleges are staffed by wvu alumni. wvu has produced 25 rhodes scholars.
Dorm Life the dorms are pretty well centralized to the campus. we also have a rail system called the personal rapid transit, or prt, that can quickly and safely get you to different areas on campus.
Food and Dining there are quite a few local places that are outstanding. black bear is an absolute must! their menu is mainly organic and local, but do not let that deter you if you have yet to experience healthy food!
What to do for fun sporting events, concerts, many outdoor activities, and a very vibrant night life. wvu consistently ranks in the top 10 for party schools in the nation.
Bang for the buck tuition is very reasonable. there are many discounts available in the community to students as well. morgantown is one of the few cities that has actually thrived amongst our nation's recent financial crisis.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus couch burning after sporting events was once revered as a sacred ritual. due to safety issues and regulations, it has given way to new traditions such as the mountaineer mantrip. the mountaineer mantrip is a way for the football fans to be apart of the team, as the athletes complete a 1/4 mile walk to the football stadium, through a gaunlet of fans, prior to kickoff.
Greek Life although i'm not involved, there are greek organizations at wvu that actively recruit.
Campus Safety i have lived here for the past three years and i have not heard of any serious campus related incidents.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am absolutely learning more than I have ever expected. I get such great information from every single professor I have had and couldn't be happier. As a freshman, going into all of this, I was scared and thought I would never make it. The professors really have walked me through and have helped me with anything I may be stuck on.
Am enjoying being here I 100% do not regret my choice. I enjoy every single day and every single thing WVU has to offer me. I have really gotten a great college experience and wouldn't change 1 thing about it.
Bang for the buck WVU is absolutely worth any dime I have spent or will have to pay back. It is worth any person money or exertion. The reason I say this is because of everything it has to offer. Great professors, great classes, opportunity, involvement, wide range of ethnicity, and on top of that the campus is in the heart of WV and it is beautiful.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of everything and anything. Try new things. You will be completely surprised how much you actually enjoy something you actually never pictured yourself doing. If you take my advice on this, you may end up in the right path for a great future in something you did not plan. It truly gives you the gift of being a college student and being well rounded if you just simply try.
Great for these types of students WVU is great for any type of student. It offers some of the best programs in the country. It has endless opportunities of activities, sports, and even involvement. This shcool isn't specific for any type of person based on your interest because it honestly has anything you enjoy. Whether it be clubs, sports, or meeting new people, WVU is where it is at and should be considered by every person not only here in the Unites States but even other countries.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot So far I have learned a lot from WVU. My classes have expanded my knowledge of many subjects. I have also learned life lessons, such as how to keep my academic and social life balanced. WVU will most definitely prepare me for whatever field I choose to go into.
Am enjoying being here Morgantown is a great place. Everyone is friendly and willing to give a hand with things. There are lots of free activities that they offer for the students. There are also many state parks around Morgantown that I enjoy visiting, Coopers Rock State Park being the closest.
Bang for the buck I came to WVU because it was a great price for out of state students. Illinois's in-state tuition is almost the same as WVU's out-of-state. So why settle for an in-state school when you can experience a whole different scenery?
Great for these types of students WVU is great for people who like the outdoors. WVU students get free admission to all sports which is great. So WVU is also for people who like to go to sporting events. There are lots of extracurricular activities that are offered and many clubs that can be joined. So people that like to get involved in things will enjoy the many clubs and organizations that WVU has.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The big classes at WVU can be really intimidating, but it's a great learning environment. You can establish a great relationship with any or all of your professors, even in a class of 300+ students. Learning at WVU is really hands on, which is great in preparing you for your future in the real world. Also, there are a ton of resources around campus to help you get that GPA you've always dreamed of, like the Writing Center and Open Math Lab.
Am enjoying being here Being at WVU is about the combination of a great education with an unforgettable experience. The students are given opportunities to attend huge events, such as sporting events and big-name concerts. With so many clubs and all of the other attractions, I can guarantee that you will find something that interests you.
Bang for the buck I live in West Virginia, and the in-state tuition is incredible. And from what I've heard, out-of-state tuition isn't bad either. No matter the price, it's worth it. The things you'll learn at WVU are incomparable to anything else.
Tips for prospective students Some tips I would give to prospective students would be:
*Live in the dorms--you'll meet so many people, and it's a great way to transition from your home life to college life. And having a stocked cafeteria right down the hall is never a bad thing either.
*Control your nightlife--there are a lot of things going on at WVU at all hours of the night. But everyone knows that staying up late can cause sleeping in late and missing classes.
*Use the resources--when a professor offers extra credit, take it; if the math lab is open, go; if you have a question, ask someone. You're paying to be there, so take advantage of all of the great things WVU has to offer!!Great for these types of students To be at a student at WVU, you'll need to be outgoing and friendly, considering there are more than 30,000 students on campus. You'll need to be focused but make sure you can find some time to relax as well. Take part in everything you can, and take lots of photos!! This is a big part of your life so make some memories!

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Hopefully The Learning Experience Will Be Great. I Seen Some Comments About WVU Being A Party School But To Me It Doesn't Seem Like It.
Will enjoy being here I Have Been Doing Lots Of Research And So Far I Am Loving WVU [&&] Morgantown. There Are Many Things To Do On [&&] Off Campus.
Bang for the buck I Know The Out Of State Tuition Is Quite Expensive But I Believe It'll All Be Worth It. WVU Seems To Be A Very Well Rounded College [&&] I Think The Academic Courses Will Be Worth It. Also Being In A Great College Town Environment Is A Major Plus. [They Football Games Seems To Be Really Live.]
Tips for prospective students Do Not Bring Your Car. You Will Not Find Parking. Living Downtown Will Be The Best Place To Live. Everything Is In Walking Distance. There Is A Lot Of Transportation. (For Free.) Also, I Would Like To Live With A Roommate But I Like My Privacy... So If You Feel The Same Way I Do Have Fun Looking For Friends! :)
Great for these types of students Students That Want A Great Experience At College. Good For Athletic Type Students. All Students Should Take A Chance [&&] Go To WVU!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot WVU has some of the top professors in the country, I have learned a lot more than I expected since I got here. WVU is a very large school, but by being an engineering student I have been able to have smaller class sizes, personalized tutoring, and professors who take time to talk outside of class. Other majors also have these benefits especially after their freshman year.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love the atmosphere in Morgantown. There is never a dull moment on the weekends whether it's going to a sporting event or hitting the clubs with a few friends you can find anything to do. Sporting events, especially football games, are my personal favorite. Seeing the amount of pride students at wVU have will encourage anyone to come to school here and know that they belong. This school may be big but we are all one big family.
Bang for the buck WVU is one of the cheapest schools I looked at and has to most to offer. They have top rated programs and the best professors you can find. You also receive free admission to sporting events which you don't find everywhere. Also the dorm life isn't bad and the food isn't terrible either. I would definitely say that WVU is worth the money.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to apply early and schedule a visit before you decide. I was set on a small private school until I visited and hated every moment of it. When I reached Morgantown, I instantly knew I belonged here and that this was the school for me. So take your time to see the school and ask questions. If you plan on living in the dorms make sure to fill out the proper paper work and make the right payments so you can choose early, dorms fill up fast and you want to make sure to get a nice place to live since you'll be sharing such a small space with a roommate..or two.
Great for these types of students WVU is great for any type of student. We have superb academics, great athletic teams, and also a nice night life too. The greek life on campus is also very good for those who want to be a part of a fraternity or sorority. There is also a great variety in majors so there is something for everyone.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I have heard good things about WVU's academics, Everyone that I know that goes or has gone there has told me the academics are excellent and during my trip I learned of the outstanding programs that they have. Overall this is one of the best well rounded universities. Not too much of a party school, but not too much of a straight and proper school either.
Will enjoy being here I have visited the campus and found it to very vibrant and spirited but also has those places where you can go to study and get serious. I honestly believe I will enjoy it here.
Bang for the buck WVU in my opinion is one of the best Colleges in West Virginia where you get a quality education for a decent price.
Tips for prospective students >Focus more on a good GPA, this college weights GPA more heavily than test scores; but make sure the test scores are decent.
>Apply online its much faster.
>Use the application status checker provided on there website if you want a quicker answer.Great for these types of students Those who like the small town feel.

Categories Rating Comments Am enjoying being here Not only does WVU offer endless programs, clubs, etc., but Morgantown as a whole has a ton of extracurricular activities to get involved with. From little cafes with live music (Black Bear Burritos) to awesome music venues (123 Pleasant Street) to great outdoor adventures (Coopers Rock, The Core Arboretum), Morgantown offers your remedy to boredom and homesickness all within walking distance.
Bang for the buck Being a college town, prices aren't too outrageous. Whether you are a pizza or sushi lover, the food prices tend to be adjusted according to the poor college student income.
Tips for prospective students Become a Kroger Plus Member; you save money and can shop for all your grocery needs anytime of the day or night thanks to being open 24/7!
And concerning cars; parking here isn't that great and one of the biggest pains for students and teachers alike. The school offers many trips outside of the immediate area for you adventurous, traveling types.Great for these types of students WVU is consisted of the strangest group of people. We have kids from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Virgina, and yes, even the Jersey Shore. We have country kids with gun racks in their pick ups, pierced, gauged, and tattooed, dread lock wearing guitar players, to kids straight out of Philly. There's someone for everyone here, you may just have to look a bit harder if you're not looking for a stereotypical frat kid.

Am enjoying being here Overall, meh.
Bang for the buck Was able to get instate tuition from east Virginia. (Academic Common Market) But only bad thing is stuck with that obscure major.
Tips for prospective students In your first year live downtown. Living on Evansdale sucks, it's two miles away and on top of a mountain from all of your classes even if your an engineering major. Only recommend it for Music majors. Don't bring your car you will not find a place to park it. Also the Honors college is a cool place to live.
The bistro downtown is the best place to eat on campus, get there at 11ish when they open before the lunch rush. And finally, befriend an upperclassmen that has a car in your first year.Great for these types of students Frat boys

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Although many of my classes have been general ed. classes, I was still able to dive right into my major. Even so, I feel like I learned more in the general classes, a few of which were repeats of classes I had in high school.
Am enjoying being here WVU is definitely the place for me. I would regret not going here. Although it is a large school, the campus is split into two campuses. This may sound daunting, but because of my major, I have been on the same one of the two, so it feels like I'm on a small campus.
I love, love, LOVE it!Bang for the buck As an out-of-state student, the tuition is killer compared to the in-state. But their financial aid office is willing to help, but only if you go for help.
Tips for prospective students This is not high school. I can't stress this enough. The instructors do not spoon-feed their students. If there is an assignment due, and it was not handed in with I didn't feel like it as the excuse, you will not be able to make it up.
However, as long as grades come first, everything else falls into place, and grades and a social life can be easily balanced.
Beware the PRT. XDGreat for these types of students WVU is an awesome school for any type of student. There is a diversity in the activities available, a diversity in the students attending, and a diversity of points of view and attitudes. There is tons to do, as long as you know where to look and make your own fun if all else fails.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are great. They are very passionate about the subject they are teaching, as well as knowledgeable. Plus are willing to help students during office hours.
Am enjoying being here The people are really friendly and it is relatively easy to make new friends. A great way to meet friends is by joining a club. Beautiful campus.
Bang for the buck Tuition is really cheap for in-state students, but for out of state the price is a little higher.
Great for these types of students Great for students who love big campuses, meeting lots of new people. A ton of different clubs to join. Very passionate about sports, especially football and men's basketball

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot You get what you give when it comes to WVU. If you choose easy classes and decide not to out the effort into them, then of course you're not going to learn as much as the kids who pick more challenging classes and do their work. Professors are always there to help ad and provide helpful office hours, so the amount you learn really depends on if you choose to just barely scrape by or if you choose to apply yourself.
Am enjoying being here There is so much to do at WVU, and the nightlife is king. Every night there is something to do, based on the fact that there are so many students here. The people around you are basically all from the Mid-Atlantic mixed with a lot of in-state kids, but the variety of people you meet is still large enough. Everyone here is just looking to have a good time and very friendly. You won't find too many unreasonable people.
Bang for the buck Again, you get out what you put it. It's worth nothing if you come here to party and get a crappy GPA. If you came to get the best of both a learning environment and a social scene, you have come to the right place and you are perfectly capable of having it all here. To me, I have gotten a lot of band for my buck and feel that I am making full use of everything this campus has to offer.
Tips for prospective students If you're looking for that real college experience this is definitely the place to be. If you do come here, don't get to wrapped up in the fact that you can easily go downtown on a Tuesday night; I have seen so many people at the end of this semester wishing they would have buckled down a little more. While the stress is pretty minimal here, it's worth it to stay in a night or two to study, then rage all weekend.
Great for these types of students WVU is great for self-motivated students (as most colleges are), students looking for a traditional college atmosphere, students who do not know what they want to do with their lives yet because there are so many options for majors, and students who enjoy a very social lifestyle.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My classes are fantastic. My professors are fantastic. And I'm happy with my choice to come to WVU. I'm a fashion major, so a lot of people think my job as a college student is easy as pie. This isn't the case. And knowing my professors have such a passion for the subjects they are teaching and seeing that come across in the classroom is a huge incentive to want to learn.
Am enjoying being here Morgantown is busy enough to stay occupied at all times but small enough to stay focused. There is always something to do--great food, good fun, and lots of things to see. Again, the passion of my professors make it that much easier to feel the same level of interest. You meet a ton of people thanks to the large campus. And that's what college is about.
Bang for the buck The education you'll receive here is just as good as an education anywhere else. There is a comfort and homey feeling at WVU. People are nice and always willing to help. The dorms aren't terrible.
Tips for prospective students If the size makes you anxious, don't worry. The classes may be large, but if you take the time to pay attention, do your work, and try to know your professors, they will know you. There is always room for one on one help if you ask for it. People are nice.
Great for these types of students Students who want something different, something large, someone who is passionate, and a good time.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I love my current classes. They are a lot different than high school, and I like it. Here the teachers get to teach what they think is important instead of teaching a list of information given to them by the state. This makes is so that the teachers care about what they are teaching and really enjoy what they do, and that makes the classes much more enjoyable and easier to dedicate time to.
Am enjoying being here I love it in Morgantown. The student body, and the community as a whole are true supporters of the school. ESPN Gameday came a few weeks ago and the town didn't sleep for a week. All the students here have fun and do what ever they want, whether it be class or party.
Bang for the buck It is a little expensive for the student housing but no more than any other school. The meal plan is nice but some of the food options on the meal plan are worse than the cafeteria food from high school.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking at WVU make sure you want to come to a big school. There are a lot of people here and classes can get big, at the same time though, the professors will still try to sit down one on one if you need help. There is always something going on and it is really hard to get bored, and even harder to do all the school work with so many opportunities.
Great for these types of students WVU is great for all students because the faculty cares enough that they will cater to any student's needs. It is a great school as long as you don't mind walking steps and hills to get to class sometimes.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are good, and the teachers are all surprisingly willing to help students if they're having any difficulties in either their classes or with personal issues. The school is well known for its excellent engineering department, which has a full-bodied and comprehensive course listing. It is a little lacking with some of the other departments, however, and the school's English department is rather lacking in terms of structure.
Am enjoying being here The school is enormous, with lots of students and places to hang out. There are plenty of clubs and due to its location a dearth of outdoorsy entertainment; only twenty minutes from an enormous lake, surrounded by multiple forests, the school really has the best of both nature and urban entertainment available.
Bang for the buck For the low price, both for out of state students and especially for in-state students (an incredible $5,000 for one full year's tuition) the school is an excellent bargain. Especially for those looking for an engineering degree at a lower cost, it's hard to beat such an established university at this price.
Great for these types of students Engineers, socialites, those who like larger schools

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Every professor I have encountered is willing to help any student in need of help. The professors are very enthusiastic about their subjects which makes the learning experience better. It's not difficult to find help and there are so many services provided to students to help.
Am enjoying being here At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like going to WVU, but I know it was absolutely the best decision for me. I enjoy the environment, the people, the town, the classes, and the events the university sponsors. It is very easy to meet people and there are activities available for everyone.
Bang for the buck As an in-state student, I definitely think this school has bang for the buck. The academics are great as well as the athletic program. Being a part of this school is definitely worth the price.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In my experience, even professors of big classes interact directly with individual students both in and out of class. Many professors also take advantage of technology to communicate with students and supplement their classes via email, Youtube, and eCampus. A lot of classes are challenging, but you can pass them if you study enough.
Am enjoying being here You can find groups that fit your interests or major, and WVU holds a lot of social events where you can meet people. But since WVU is a party school, you can also run into drunk students late at night who can be rude and sometimes get into fights. Transportation is okay. If you live on campus, you can take the bus or the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT), and most off-campus apartment complexes have shuttles. But it's hard to find parking on campus, and if you park without paying, the parking officers will fine you or tow your car.
Bang for the buck WVU's tuition is increasing like most other colleges, but most students can get financial aid or scholarships.
Tips for prospective students Find out if the place you want to live provides transportation to campus, and finish your schoolwork before you party or you might fail out.
Great for these types of students Athletes, sports fans, partiers, academics... most students fit in at WVU.
