Wheaton values academic rigor, cultural diversity, and social development. Proper support systems are provided in every field to help students achieve success, both through staff and offices, and the school's website. It is situated in a small sleepy town, but it is close to the city and there is plenty to do on campus.

    Tips for prospective students

Come prepared to work, but don't feel intimidated or overwhelmed. It is very much possibleto maintain a balanced lifestyle at Wheaton.

    Academic Rigor

There are a series of foundations required for graduation, including a full year of foreign language, a 'Beyond the West' course, a first year seminar, an introductory writing course, and a quantitative analysis course. Students must take at least one course form the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, which can be achieved through the Connections system. Course difficulty depends on the level, but enough work is assigned to keep students busy, while at the same time allowing them to explore the other aspects of college life as well.

    Dorm Life

There are a variety of residential styles that include traditional dorms, both doubles and singles (and the occasional triple), apartments, and suites. There is a sort of social divide between upper and lower campus, due mostly in part to Lower campus mainly being dedicated to freshmen. Some of the dorms are older and in need of repair, but others have been freshly fixed up or recently built, so overall it balances out.

    Food and Dining

There are multiple dining options on campus, including three dining halls, a cafe, and a late night pub. There are a variety of healthy food options, and there is only one meal plan that gives you unlimited access to the dining halls, one of which will always be open from 7am to midnight. Food can get a little repetitive within the dining halls, but there are plenty of options to switch up the routine.

    What to do for fun

There are movie nights, dances, performances, lectures-you name it! There really isn't much of an excuse to be bored at Wheaton. But is someone needs to get away for a day, travel to Providence and Boston are extremely easy, and on some Fridays there are shopping taxis that will bring students to nearby plazas.

    Bang for the buck

Wheaton is undoubtedly expensive, but you will walk away with a comprehensive education that prepares you for the real world.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have the much loved Harry Potter room in the library, the steps of whcih students who are not seniors may not sit on unless they want to get thrown in Peacock pond. Everyone has to take a dip at some point before graduation, though.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who takes their education seriously and wihes to achieve, but still wants to maintain an active social life.

    Clubs and Activities

There is something for everyone, and i not, it is very easy to get a new club going.

    Greek Life

    Nonexistent.

    Campus Safety

The only issue is there are occasionally strings of items being stolen, but that is often due to student carelessness.

Wheaton is a small, intensive liberal arts college in Norton, MA. While the town of Norton isn't a great college town and the campus is small, Wheaton has a great campus community with active and engaged students, faculty, and staff. Classes are intimate, professors are intelligent and accessible.

    Tips for prospective students

Wheaton, like any school, is really what you make of it--put yourself out there, attend events, meet people, and get involved in the things that interest you. If you can't find it, create it!

    Academic Rigor

Wheaton's academics are intense if you want them to be, and professors are good at challenging student without overwhelming them. While some students try to skate by, there are no fluff classes and the distribution requirements keep people from getting too lazy.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are fairly standard, with liberal housing policies and great dorm communities, especially on upper campus. Highlights of housing include the theme houses, which host campus events.

    Food and Dining

There are two dining halls, and other options such as the cafes, but overall the food selection is fairly limited and mediocre.

    What to do for fun

Go out in Providence or Boston, or hang out on campus. The town of Norton offers virtually nothing.

    Bang for the buck

Wheaton offers a great education, if you can find the funding. Financial aid is pretty good, but definitely look for outside scholarships--it's an incredibly expensive school. Keep an eye out for opportunities such as internships, study abroad, etc--Wheaton is great at making you connections and the alumni are really accessible if you reach out to them.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Dimple is a focal point on campus, a depression in the main quad on campus. The Wheaton Woods are often explored by the more adventurous students, and everyone is required to swim in Peacock Pond before graduating.

Great for these types of students

Liberal, open-minded, diverse, accepting, enthusiastic, smart, engaged

    Clubs and Activities

Really active clubs, and easy to make your own if you can't find what you want.

    Greek Life

    Doesn't exist.

    Campus Safety

Security incidents are few and far between.

It is an amazing campus with fantastic people. I love being there and being so close to everything. The party scene is not the best.

    Tips for prospective students

Analyze the pros and cons of your decision. Look at what you want and what you might want in a few years. Small schools can be great for many reasons, but they are not for everyone. It depends on your personality and what you want.

    Academic Rigor

It is a difficult school, but not the toughest. It has hard classes, but like any college you can find a few easy ones. It is all about what you make of it. Using your resources is important and there are plenty here.

    Dorm Life

Wheaton has good housing and it all depends on who you live with and your floor mates. The bathrooms are coed and that is strange at first, but it is fine after a while. The rooms are decent size and good if you have a great roommate like I did.

    Food and Dining

I personally enjoy the convent hours and the selection that they have. Many people do not like the food, but if you are creative I believe it can work well. The hours are great and the staff is friendly. It can be accommodating if you make it work for you.

    What to do for fun

This is what I enjoy and dread about Wheaton. There is not a huge party scene, but small dorm parties are very fun. I enjoy being with close friends and enjoying a few drinks, but some people like to go crazy. There are not many huge parties, but you get to spend time with close friends and meet new people. There are also opportunities to go to Boston and Providence, but I haven't gone much. I am going to wait until I am 21 and go with friends.

    Bang for the buck

Great school, but it is overpriced. Depends on how much aid you get.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Candle lighting Ceremony: you will see when you come for your first night. All I can say is that is a great time.

Great for these types of students

    Hardworking, Individual attention needed,

    Clubs and Activities

Wheaton Men's Tennis is great. Come play for us. Besides that there are awesome clubs and things to do.

    Greek Life

    No Greek. :(

    Campus Safety

    Very safe

    Am learning a lot

The teaching styles of the teachers are very stimulating, appealing to a wide variety of learning preferances. Classes are small and allow for one-on-one time with professors. Despite the different courses, you will most likely take away a sense of self-confidence and improved public speaking skills.

    Am enjoying being here

The school allows for many clubs and if there is not one you particularly fit into, they make it fairly easy to create one. There is a fair amount of performances and activities. It is important to keep an open mind.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to know your teachers very well. Most are very friendly and truly interested in your success. They will usually help you however they can. Everyone is happy to help out. Do not be afraid to ask for assitance. Car is helpful to explore the surrounding sites.

Great for these types of students

If you are looking for a small, community based college, Wheaton is the place to go. It is quiet and really focused on academics. It is not a party school, though dances occur often.

    Am learning a lot

Like all liberal arts colleges, Wheaton prides itself in having small classes and close teacher-student relationships. Compared with my high school experience, I am much more engaged and interested in the courses.

    Am enjoying being here

The atmosphere of Wheaton is drastically different from New York's. However, there are lots of friendly, outgoing people here. And although there's not a lot of places to go in the little town of Norton, Providence and Boston are a bus-and-train ride away.

    Bang for the buck

Yes, Wheaton's tuition is expensive. However, don't let that scare you away from applying; Wheaton is very generous with their financial aid.

    Tips for prospective students

Once again, don't let the cost of Wheaton intimidate you. Try applying; it's worth a shot.
There's not a lot of diversity at Wheaton, at least compared with New York, but Wheaton is trying to diversify. Regardless of your race/ethnicity/sexuality/etc, you'll find a niche here at Wheaton.
The Asian cuisine here isn't the best unless you like things drenched in teriyaki sauce.

    Did learn a lot

The professors were friendly and very helpful. Wheaton fell short though in their sciences. A new science center is in the works which will attract a lot more of these types of students but the issue is that when you take science classes with labs you get screwed. You are in class triple the time as everyone else and still earn the same credits. Also you can only earn a B.A. despite all your hard work.

    Did enjoy being here

The dorms were terrible. They were loud and people partied to an obnoxious degree every weekend. The worst part was that there is no cleaning service on the weekend so all the vomit and left over waste from the drunken idiots smells up the dorms till Monday. It's disgusting.

    Bang for the buck

Very expensive to attend but they are incredibly generous with scholarships. They partially paid me to go there, and they are very understanding of financial hardships.

Great for these types of students

Arts students, and anyone but science majors.
