Jeffrey J. Bayer Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Description
This scholarship was established in 2000 in loving memory of Jeffrey Bayer, who achieved great stature as a nationally acclaimed artist, community leader, and inspiring UAH professor who cared deeply for his students and made a difference in their lives by nurturing their creativity. The scholarship is awarded to students who have matriculated beyond the freshman year, with preference given to students majoring in Art and Art History who demonstrate artistic excellence in a body of work that is displayed at the annual student spring art exhibition sponsored by the Art and Art History Department. It is the hope that Professor Bayer’s spirit will be sustained through the many lives and works that this award will touch. This scholarship is a one-year award and is not renewable. The student must maintain a full-time course load (12 credit hours) and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students should submit a scholarship application every year in order to update their files and possibly be eligible for other awards. In addition, this scholarship may be cancelled or reduced if the recipient does not enroll full time, withdraws from classes, fails to attend for a semester or more, graduates, fails to meet the renewal criteria and/or does not maintain satisfactory academic progress. Recipients should also understand that, by accepting this award, he/she is giving UAH permission to release directory information about the recipient for news and public affairs bulletins.
