Nursing Scholarships(UAA Alaska Kidney Foundation Scholarship)

Scholarship Description
The purpose of the Alaska Kidney Foundation Scholarship is to provide scholarships in the name of the Alaska Kidney Foundation to prepare new nurses to provide safe and effective care to individuals experiencing chronic kidney disease in Alaska. Qualifications: ?Applicants must have been a resident of Alaska for three years prior to the start of the semester the award is given. ?Applicant must be formally admitted into a Nursing degree-seeking program that leads to RN licensure. ?Applicant must plan on being enrolled at least part-time (six (6) credits). ?Applicant must have completed one clinical nursing course by the start of the semester the award is given, unless a new student. ?Applicants who have successfully completed a clinical nursing course must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and nursing course minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. Applicants who are new students beginning clinical studies and have not completed a clinical nursing course must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8. ?Preference will be given to applicants who write an essay that: 1.Reflects a career plan that includes working with a clientèle that could result in working with individuals with chronic or acute kidney disease or with clients at risk for the development of chronic renal disease. 2.Reflects a plan to remain to practice in Alaska.
