Honors program

Scholarship Description
The UAF Honors Program is tailored for academically talented students. The program provides students with the kind of education usually associated with small private liberal arts colleges. It features small classes for the core curriculum and a required senior Honors research thesis. The Honors Program accepts about 50 talented students each year who have a high school GPA of 3.6 or better and SAT combined scores of at least 1240 or an ACT composite of 28 or higher. Recipients of the UA Scholars Scholarship and Chancellor’s Scholarship are encouraged to apply to the Honors Program. National Merit finalists who select UAF as their first-choice institution are automatically offered admission to the program without further application. Priority will be given to students applying by February 15; however, applications received later will also be considered. All students wishing to be considered for the Honors Program must have applied for admission to UAF. Applicants must submit the completed application, transcripts (photocopies acceptable), two letters of recommendation, summary of academic activities/honors and work experience, and essays to: The Honors Program, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
