Scholarship for Re-Entry Women

Scholarship Description

The Camarillo Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is offering scholarships up to $2,000 for re-entry women who will be enrolling in a college as a junior or senior. A re-entry woman is defined as a woman who did not go directly to college after high school or a student who started college, dropped out, and is returning after a three (3) year break in their education. AAUW is looking for goal-oriented women who are pursuing their first Bachelor’s Degree for a specific career goal. To be eligible a student must: 1. Be a resident of Ventura County 2. Have completed a minimum of 60 semester units earning junior or senior year status and be in the process of completing the final two years of college toward a Bachelor’s Degree 3. Be enrolled in or completed a minimum of six (6) semester hours at a college or university at least one semester during the year prior to making application 4. Be admitted or currently enrolled at an accredited 4-year college or university A complete application must be received by June 30, 2008 in order to be considered for this scholarship. A complete application includes: 1. A neatly completed application 2. Two (2) letters of recommendation from people who represent two different sources unrelated to the applicant, pursuant to instructions outlined on the application form 3. Complete college transcript showing satisfactory completion of the required minimum hours for either junior or senior status 4. Letter of admission or proof of enrollment at a 4-year college or university 5. A written statement of the applicant’s educational and career goals, personal need, and individual effort or personal struggle.
