The Udc Presidential Scholarship

Scholarship Description
The University of the District of Columbia Foundation, Inc., and the Office of the President announce the opening of the competition for the UDC Presidential Scholarship. The scholarship was established in 1996 to help District of Columbia Public Schools students who have earned high academic honors pursue their higher education goals at the University of the District of Columbia. AWARD: The scholarship will cover tuition and fees for four (4) academic years. ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship is open to students who have grade point averages of 3.0. To remain eligible, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students with the highest average. Applicants must reside in the District of Columbia, be a graduating senior in a District of Columbia Public High School, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and must intend to pursue a full-time course of study at the University of the District of Columbia leading to a bachelor’s degree. Applicants must also submit a UDC Scholarship Application and a 500 word essay from the following topics: Congress has just voted to allow 18 year olds to run for president of the United States. You have decided to run for that office. Why have you chosen to run and what are your three most important agenda items? If you could change places with another person for one year (past or present), who would you choose to be, why and what would you do? When someone asks you to describe yourself, where do you begin--with your agenda, your race, your religion or your talents? Everyone is multifaceted. What would you bring to the University of the District of Columbia community? Deadline before March 1 (if this date falls on a non workday the next business day applies).
