The Thomas E. Curtis, Jr. Athletic Scholarship

Scholarship Description
This scholarship was donated by Tom and Marge Curtis of Hingham, MA, parents of the late Tom Jr., B'68, in their son's name. Tom Jr. was an experienced sailor at Georgetown and remained in sailing as a boat broker after graduation until an unfortunate sail racing accident took his life in 1979. The scholarship is awarded to one or more undergraduate student(s) enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program who have demonstrated strong interest and involvement in Sailing. For such time as the granting of this scholarship is disallowed by the rules of the Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association, it is the donor's intent that this scholarship be granted to one or more undergraduate students who participate in Intercollegiate Athletics, preferably women's lacrosse. It is the donor's expressed interest to give preference for the scholarships to students who live in the geographic area of New England.
