Thomas E. Galvin, B'90 Golf Scholarship

Scholarship Description
On September 11, 2001, Georgetown lost Thomas E. Galvin, B’90, in the World Trade Center Tragedy. Tom was captain of the golf team and later became president of the 19th Hole Club, the golf alumni support club of Hoyas Unlimited. He also served as a volunteer in locating jobs for young graduates through the Alumni Career Network. Memorial gifts created a permanent endowment to support a need-based scholarship in his name. The scholarship is awarded to one or more students who play on the intercollegiate golf team. The student(s) must exhibit financial need to receive the award, which is used to replace the work-study and/or loan portion of the recipient’s Georgetown financial aid package. If a needy golf student-athlete cannot be found in a given year, the scholarship is awarded to a needy student who has worked as a caddie.
