This $2,000 scholarship, made possible by an anonymous donor, is awarded to a prelicensure nursing student who demonstrates financial need and a desire to help disadvantaged populations. Selection is made by the School of Nursing Scholarship Committee.

Applicants should adhere to the following criteria: 1. Be a currently enrolled nursing student in a prelicensure program (BSN or CNL master’s-entry). 2. Submit a brief description of any financial hardship that may impede the student’s ability to graduate from nursing school. 3. Submit a 1-2 page essay expressing the student’s commitment to help the poor, disabled, or another disadvantaged population during the course of the student’s nursing career. This essay must include proposed action steps, during educational years and upon graduation, to reach out to this population. 4. Provide a letter of reference from a faculty member, or community member, that includes specific examples of when the student displayed compassion for those in need. 5. Provide a letter of support from the student’s prelicensure program director. 6. Provide a sealed copy of your most recent MCG transcript showing a GPA of at least 3.0.
