The Rebecca Andrews Scholarship Award was established in January 1994 in memory of Rebecca Andrews, a 1984 graduate of the Masters Program in Adult Nursing. She served the Medical College of Georgia in many capacities: Staff Nurse, Neonatal ICU, Senior Staff Nurse, Emergency Services; Clinical Coordinator/Instructor, EMT-Paramedic Program; Staff Development Coordinator, Ambulatory Care Services; Trauma Coordinator, Department of Surgery; and Director, Emergency Services. Mrs. Andrews was admired and respected as an outstanding clinician and leader by her colleagues in the health care arena, throughout the Augusta community, as well as regionally. She served as an exemplary role model for nurses, students, and other health care providers. She died December 20, 1993, following a seven-month battle with brain cancer. By the request of Mrs. Andrews, this award will be given to two students: one undergraduate and one graduate. The undergraduate student award is based on the applicant’s interest in Emergency Nursing.
