Service Learning Scholarship

Scholarship Description
Scholarships are available to music majors seeking the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Music Bachelor of Music in Composition Bachelor of Music in Performance (performance and pedagogy concentrations) Bachelor of Music Therapy First-year students, transfer students, and second-degree students are welcome to apply. International students are not eligible for Department of Music scholarships. All scholarship awards are for one academic year. Full-time enrollment (at least 12 credits per term) is required for full amount. Awards may be prorated for students enrolled in 6 to 11 credits per term, unless stated otherwise. No awards will be given to students enrolled in less than 6 credits per term. APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS. To apply for a Department of Music Scholarship, you must: • Be admitted in or be seeking admission to a Marylhurst music program. • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and specify that Marylhurst University receive the information from the FAFSA processors. (Information about filing the FAFSA is available on the University Web site.) • Complete and submit this application to the Office of Financial Aid. SCHOLARSHIP Application DUE DATES. Priority is given to students who submit the scholarship application and FAFSA by March 3. Applications submitted after this date will be considered on a case-by-case basis. RE-APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS. All music scholarship recipients need to demonstrate continued financial need and adequate academic progress to be considered for a scholarship renewal. Satisfactory progress is defined by maintaining a 3.2 GPA while at Marylhurst. All recipients who wish to re-apply for an additional year should do so by completing the FAFSA and submitting this scholarship form to the Office of Financial Aid no later than May 1. SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS. The Department of Music selects recipients based on musical background demonstrated at the audition, academic excellence, potential to contribute to the musical vibrancy of the department, and financial need. DISBURSEMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS. Awards will be disbursed at the beginning of each term, after recipients have registered for classes and demonstrated satisfactory academic progress. Miller Music Scholarships for music majors, from $1,000 to $3,000 per academic year.
