Northwestern College is a Christian academic community engaging students in courageous and faithful learning and living that empowers them to follow Christ and pursue God’s redeeming work in the world.
The music department annually offers the Northwestern Music Scholarship to students who have demonstrated unusual talent and who continue to show satisfactory music growth and maturity in their musical studies. Although preference is shown for those who expect to major in music, the scholarship is also awarded to students who demonstrate potential for continuous and distinctive service to the music department. A limited number of scholarships are available. Awards are made by the music department faculty in conjunction with the financial aid office and are based on an application, recommendations and an audition. The Northwestern Music Scholarship is renewable as long as students maintain a 2.0 GPA, participate in the performance area in which they are seeking a scholarship, and take lessons at least one semester each year or--for juniors and seniors--perform in a chamber ensemble. These scholarships are evaluated on a yearly basis.
