The Rising Star Scholarship was established in fall 2002 and is made possible through the generous donation of UNC Charlotte alumna, Jeannine L. Miller ’92.

3. Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
4. Full or part-time status
5. Demonstrate financial need
6. US Citizen
Application Guidelines:
A completed application packet includes:
OASES application form with signature and date
Typed essay describing the applicant's personal philosophy and career goals.* (one page)
Up-to-date resume, typed
Two letters of recommendation. The letters need to identify the person's relationship to the student and evaluate the student's ability to achieve career goals. Letters should be typed on letterhead and dated with the current scholarship year
Official or unofficial transcript with the latest grades and current classes for the fall semester. New UNC Charlotte students must substitute transcripts from other schools and colleges
Copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) for the current scholarship year with the EFC (expected family contribution)
Attach to the OASES Scholarship application form before submission
The application is available in the Office of Adult Students and Evening Services (OASES) and on line between April 1 and May 1 each year. Interested students must complete the scholarship application packets and return them by May 1. Scholarships are awarded August 15.
