The Class of 1947 Victor Prather Prize

Scholarship Description
The Class of 1947 Victor Prather Prize was established by the Class of 1947 to honor the memory of their classmate, Victor A. Prather, Jr., A’47, M’52, whose research for the early space program contributed to eventual manned space flights. In 1961 he lost his life during a strato-lab balloon high-altitude flight designed for testing the space suit used in the first manned flight.Dr. Prather was a scholar and a leader devoted to the dvancement of knowledge. The prize will be awarded to a student (or students) from the School of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts and Jackson College. Those receiving the prize will be engineering or science majors who have demonstrated excellence in scientific research, enthusiasm for the pursuit of knowledge, and a dedication to scholarly achievement.
