Paul Tsongas Scholarship

Scholarship Description
State-funded merit-based grant that recognize the outstanding academic achievement of selected new first-year students at Westfield State College. Limited number of Tsongas Scholarships are awarded annually and are awarded on a first come basis. First-year applicants who are Massachusetts residents and meet the necessary criteria will be considered automatically. Criteria is: High school cumulative grade point average at the time of acceptance to the college of at least 3.75 on a 4.0 scale (and/or class rank in the top 10%); and SAT-I score of 1200 (Critical Reading and Math combined) or higher, but students with lower SAT-I scores may also qualify if they earn a minimum grade of B+ (3.5) in at least two advanced placement/honors courses. Tsongas Scholarship, which equals that annual cost of tuition plus fees, are renewable each year for a maximum of 4 years (8 semesters) by maintaining a 3.30 cumulative average on a 4.0 scale.
