The Theatre Department awards scholarships go to incoming freshmen who demonstrate skills and experience in acting and/or technical theatre. The initial awards are valued at $6000 over four years of study. Recipients are not required to major in theatre.
To apply based upon acting skills, students should prepare a monologue of two to four minutes, portraying a character near their own age. Students may submit a videotaped audition in VHS format if they are unable to audition in person. To apply based upon technical theatre skills, students should be prepared to discuss backstage experiences in detail. Students may schedule a telephone interview if they are unable to interview in person. See website for this year's deadlines.
