Board of Trustees Academic Honors Scholarship

Scholarship Description
This women’s basketball endowment was established by Lou Gaffney on behalf of his daughter, Dawn, to assist in the recruitment of quality women basketball players. Dawn was a four-year letter winner at Dakota State from 1994-1998. Her basketball accomplishments were outstanding including being named Dakota State’s first third team NAIA All-American in 1998. In 1997 and 1998, Dawn was also named NAIA Academic All-American. She also was selected as a recipient of the John Wollman Award, which is given to one female and one male in the conference who best represents the student athletes. Her senior year she was named first team SDIC female Athlete of the Year for both her academic and athletic achievements. The fund is designed to aid in the recruitment of, and to provide assistance to, women’s basketball scholar/athletes.
