Don Crompton Scholarship

Scholarship Description
This is a scholarship available to Social Work majors who are committed to working in family child welfare. One scholarship is awarded annually by May 1st. The award is in the amount of approximately $300. To apply students should meet the following criteria: 1. Accepted for admission to the Social Work major; 2. Minimum GPA of 3.0 3. Significant service to the university and/or community while a Social Work major; such as volunteer work for human service organizations, Social Work Club activities (not just membership), volunteer activities that go beyond the requirements for a course, particularly related to family child welfare; 4. Must be enrolled during the following academic year; 5. Completion of a short essay (no more than two typed pages) describing: 1. interest in, commitment to, and abilities useful to his/her social work career goals; and 2. particularly related to family child welfare practice. Priority will be given to an applicant who: 1. Can describe a commitment to career goals related to family child welfare that have been thoughtfully considered; 2. Junior or senior standing in the Social Work major; 3. GPA over 3.00; and 4. Considerable community and/or university volunteer service.
