Scholarship Description
The Chicano Education Program announces the Annual The Emergence of New Horizons Scholarship. A $1,200 scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying Chicano/Latino student continuing their undergraduate studies. Recipients must be enrolled in the 2008-2009 academic year at Eastern Washington University. Recipient must be first generation college student and qualify for An Affidavit/Declaration/Certification from which must also be secured as part of the scholarship award. Recipients are required to be participate in “Las Aguilas” scholarship program.Scholarship awards will be made on the basis of: First Generation College Student & Mexican/Latino decent Personal Statement Applicants should highlight their leadership qualities, career goals, and involvement in the community. (Recipient must have worked in the fields themselves or their parents.) Letter of Recommendation Applicants need to submit 2 letters of recommendation. Sources may include counselors, faculty, or individuals familiar with the applicant’s academic and career goals. (Please exclude Chicano Education Program staff.) GPA Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 GPA. Please submit an unofficial copy of your college transcripts.
