Foreign Language Scholarship

Scholarship Description
About the Foreign Language Scholarship Each year, St. John Fisher College offers two Foreign Language Scholarships to high school seniors. These scholarships recognize achievement in foreign language as a sound preparation for college work. Qualifications These scholarships are available to all high school seniors with proficiency in French, German, Italian, or Spanish, and a minimum 1000 SAT or 21 ACT composite score. Students of all majors are eligible for this scholarship, with priority given to those students majoring in a Foreign Language. (St. John Fisher College offers undergraduate majors in French and Spanish.) Candidates must: Demonstrate excellence in scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Demonstrate a minimum composite score of 1000 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT. Demonstrate no less than 85% cumulative academic average. Schools using a different grading scale must convert their notation to a 100-point scale. Demonstrate a communicative ability in the language with complete speech utterances that move beyond the present tense. Opportunities for Scholarship Scholarship recipients will receive $2,500 annually, over four years, if they complete two foreign language courses during their first year at Fisher and maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative average.
